Foster is senior author of National Geographic’s A Desk Reference to Nature’s Medicine (with Rebecca Johnson), a 2007 New York Public Library “Best of Reference.” He has also authored over 800 articles for numerous trade, popular and scientific periodicals. An acclaimed photographer with thousands ofimages in his stock photos files, Foster’s photographs appear in hundreds of publications. He is Associate Editor of HerbalGram, and Chairman of the Board Trustees of the American Botanical Council in Austin, Texas. Steven makes his home in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

This is a good introduction to the vision quests. Provides a detailed account of the process of questing - the nuts and bolts and the inner journey. The mythical frame of the Sacred River, Mouseland and the like is engaging.
Left wanting to go fast in the desert.
"We are always hearing the roaring of the Sacred River in our ears. We are always leaving Mouseland in search of it. We are always scampering across the prairies of our lives. We are always challenged by the need to give away to our people. We are always at the gates of the visionary mountains of death. We are always blind eagle bait." We are buffalo eye and wolf eye at once...

Якщо ви читали Кемпбела і думали про те, як же втілити "подорож героя" в сучасному житті (ну крім як зняти епічну космічну сагу), то книга саме про це. Вона написана, передусім, для тих хто хоче стати провідником для таких героїв, але може й допомогти визначитися, чи варто їхати на власний квест. Вона написана доброзичливо, з любовїю до своєї справи і повагою до людей. Особливо ж мені довподоби те, що автори не оголошують монополії на істину чи правильний спосіб життя.
