This book is very robotic and a bunch of one liners. It’s very hard to read cos even if the words are different, it still feels like they’re the same tone.
The ending made this book worthwhile because I was daggone ecstatic. I struggled with this one. I gave book one 5 stars, and book two 4. This was yeahhh no. I am good on this series and will probably not be continuing, cause I just don't care about these people anymore, and seeing Nirvana go all 'full revenge' over a character I don't even care about - I need that like I need a hole in the head. The highlight of this book was the scene with Bankson and Zion (the BEST scene in the entire book), and the end (made me daggone JOYOUS!). Every single female character in this book got on my nerves, with the exception of Mama Mekhari and, truth be told, we can throw Crown in there too.
So, here we go:
1) The writing style Where is an editor when you need one?? I may have found it intriguing in Book 1, and I don't know if it's because I'm three books in, or because it's so heavy handed now, but all of the 'It landed different, it hit different, that landed hard, the air shifted, the energy moved, the room was not loud, but purposeful; it wasn't punishment, it was correction.' Landed different from when? The sentence a paragraph ago?? Like, please stop. Just tell the story and stop telling us how to feel about it. It's like 'feel something NOW'. 'This is important HERE. It's exhausting and annoying. Every word out somebody's mouth isn't some prophetic announcement. Everything doesn't need to be a soliloquy, and sometimes I feel like the characters are just saying something just to say something. Lucien Barrow's chapter was the most repetitive, 'ain't saying nothing about nothing' mess I've ever read. Why is the council saying the same thing fifty times?? Jashari gets attacked and Crown asks for his prized computer hacker to come out of retirement, saying he would pay any amount, and his brother says 'she don't move for free'. He just SAID he would...Sir, stop wasting my time. They pull up the cameras after a) knowing who was behind it, and b) clearly knowing it was an inside job, and the hacker says 'this wasn't random.' We know that!!! Like, is this about page count? Why am I being subjected to this?
2) The relationships I guess I'm supposed to feel something for Sael and Oxana but really, I've been ready for her to take a long walk off a short pier since Book 2. It is completely unbelievable that Sael, who is so analytical and all about recognizing patterns, didn't know about her drug addiction. How?? Not only was she exhibiting clear signs, his brother kept bringing it and joking about it. He thought that was random?? More importantly, I don't care.
2) I am yet to understand the Britt/Jashari love angle that came out of nowhere, a love so strong this chick was willing to go against her family and stand on the opposite side in a full-fledged war. Yes, Britt had a complicated relationship with her father, but she was acting like a devoted, heartbroken Daddy's girl when he died so....so we just good now?? I fully agreed with her family, cause any family member dating someone tied to the opps that killed my father/uncle would have been dead to me. Jashari and Britt didn't have enough of a history to justify her riding so hard for him. The whole thing made no sense. Tristan telling her off made my heart sing.
3) Crown/Nirvana - sigh. Nirvana has the perfect name cause she started off as a strong, independent woman, and I liked her, but now she just works my nerves. I can't see how she and Crown are still even compatible. I'm ready for him to go back to being Book 1 Crown lol.. All of a sudden she's a Flame expert, calling shots and calling him out on stuff? Lady, if you don't sit down! Crown tries to go hard, and I like it when he checks her, but he doesn't go hard enough in my opinion, and he's getting all weak and lame now and I'm good on him. His brothers watching his moves, and circling, makes sense cause dude is getting wack. The fact that he was so bent out of shape about the Pierre situation to even do what he did in the first place was weak. You started it, Sir! And Nirvana running the shit into the ground is even lamer. They're both getting on my daggone nerves and went from being a power couple to being argumentative and uninteresting.
The whole set up of Zion to be some kind of Messiah/mega Kingpin was way overdone and would have been so much more interesting if it was just dialed down a smidge. That's why I loved the scene with him and Bankson. Just two brothers, getting to know each other, testing their skills, Bankson being real with him. I LOVED IT!!! More of that. But, no, it's back to everyone doing the most about him being the most dangerous thing breathing in 10 generations.
So yeah, this book was a miss and I think I'm good. I may change my mind, but considering how much Nirvana annoys me, most likely not. Unless Crown decides to remember who he is, and that he runs ish, then maybe. When it comes out, somebody read it first and tell me LOL. I like independent women, but strong women turning an alpha into a beta will never be sexy to me. He tells her 'stand beside me, not infront' but what *I* (and everyone else?) sees is her leading him around by the nose, Sir, get your mind right.
This book was honestly… a lot in the best way possible. This installment takes everything that has been building between Crown Mekhari and Bankston DeLuca and pushes it to a level that feels heavier, more strategic, and far more personal than before.
What should have been the final showdown doesn’t bring closure it only opens the door for something bigger. The tension between these powerful men expands beyond territory and ego, reaching into legacy, bloodlines, and the future that now revolves around Zion. The story makes it clear that in this world, peace is never permanent. It’s just a temporary pause before the next storm.
One of the strongest parts of this book is the growth of the characters. Crown is no longer acting purely on emotion; he’s calculating, strategic, and moving like someone who understands that every decision has consequences. Watching that shift added a deeper layer to his character. At the same time, Nirvana is realizing that loving Crown means standing in the center of everything that comes with his name power, danger, loyalty, and war. Their relationship feels stronger and more layered here. The bickering between them was honestly one of my favorite parts because it balanced their intensity with moments that felt real and entertaining.
This book also does a great job of mixing heavy drama with moments of humor. The tension is high throughout the story loyalty is tested, addiction spirals into recklessness, and the pressure from every side begins to crack the fragile balance holding everything together. But just when things start to feel overwhelming, the comedic relief slides in at the perfect time. Thorian absolutely carried those moments for me. He may not come when you want him to, but he will definitely show up right on time with the jokes.
Another highlight was Sael’s growth. Watching that development unfold was honestly one of the cutest and most satisfying parts of the book. It added a softer dimension to a story that is otherwise filled with power moves, dangerous love, and looming war.
Overall, this book sets the stage for something much bigger. Instead of tying everything up neatly, it reminds readers that this story was never about ending the conflict it was about building toward what comes next. By the time everything starts to break, it’s clear that no one will walk away untouched.
Brickhouse delivers another intense installment filled with hood empire drama, complicated love, family power, and legacy. It’s emotional, chaotic, funny when it needs to be, and gripping from start to finish. I sincerely enjoyed every moment even the stressful ones and I can’t wait to see where the story goes next.
Loved seeing Sael develop feelings. Lawd I don’t even wanna know how Jashari is gonna act a fool after he find out about Britt.
This book did seem very redundant - a lot of the same things being repeated but I’m invested.
My thoughts while reading
- [ ] Lord not they found Pierre’s body and crown has orchestrated a story tying him to a cartel. - [ ] I’m sorry but Annika’s excuse of trying to protect Zion just isn’t enough. The chills is almost 18. You gotta give him more than that. And why is Zion acting more mature than his own mother. And come to find out you secretly still in love with him girl heck naw - [ ] It’s definitely looking like one of the mekhari security is setting jashari up. - [ ] I’m sorry but ain’t no way sael literally has no emotions at all. You’re scared to even touch oxanas shoulder?! Seriously?! And how have yall been together this long with barely any physical contact. - [ ] Nirvana you definitely knew better than to assault that interviewer. I don’t care if she flirted with crown the entire time, you have too much to lose. Just kick her out the house if that’s the case. - [ ] Girl bye nirvana ain’t no way you wanna act sad and scared now that the footage has been leaked. What you did was wrong and Annika was wrong for holding that girl down while you beat her. At least fight fairly next time. - [ ] What not Tristan sending the camera man into crowns house with meta glasses lol. - [ ] Absolutely not crown. Ain’t no way you coming at sael sideways because he’s concerned for leaving oxana home alone. You literally be trying to burn the whole world up about freaking nirvana but sael can’t have concern for oxana while she’s going through withdrawals alone. TF?!?! - [ ] I’m soooo thankful sael stood up to crown!!!! Because ain’t no way you trying to tell him nirvana is more important than HIS LADY!!! - [ ] Lord not crown having to kill the doctor because nirvana went running her mouth in front of him about the flame and Rico case. Girl I’m starting to be sick of your ass ! - [ ] Nirvana I guess you did what you had to do to get Pierre’s body back to the funeral in time but you’re part of the reason he’s gone now anyways and yet you still keep playing with crown like he won’t end you too - [ ] Lawd not that chopped Britt up into pieces and delivered it to crown and Nirvana lawdddddd

All this drama had me on edge esp all the stuff with Tristan since Nero was killed. I never would have thought he would threaten his niece the way he did. Jashari going through it behind them walls getting tried left and right but he good. Crown and Nirvana ain’t gone be right til all this Vasari mess is over with. Where the hell is Aeson? Sael admitting his feelings for Oxana in his own way is sweet esp bc it’s out of the norm for him. Annika is coming to terms with Gio being in Zion’s life and he has some big shoes to fill as an heir to both families. The moment between Bank and Zion was nice it almost made me tear up, I said almost lol. Gio is showing another side of himself with Zion that Bankston and Aria never got to experience. Tristan needs to be knocked off expeditiously bc he going way too far. April’s uncle was a lil shook after that phone call Britt made. Thorian is still being Thorian and I love it more than I thought I would. Crown is getting a lil more vicious when it comes to Nirvana and his brothers are taking notice. Uh Miss Ma’am that cliffhanger is wild as hell bc what was that fareal. Great part 3 can’t wait for the finale bc I know it’ll be explosive.
Okay, Brickhouse did it again. Great book, excellent storyline, and all the characters have their own personalities, even the youngest Zion. Crown again is the strong silent man that everyone should fear. If you haven’t read book one and two, then read them first. Did you ever think that two strong powerful Flames would have something in common, read this book to find out what it is. Nirvana and Britt are finally speaking again. Will their friendship return read the book to find out. Nirvana is Crowns match she doesn’t step down from no one not even Lazarus. Zion, strong young man how his momma raised him and Crown trained him. Read to see how Zion fits into the whole equation. It will blow you away. Jasharie, he is like Blaze to me, but he too can be a handful. Britt is his lawyer, read to see if she can get Jasharie out of jail, also see what Britt’s Uncle Tristan is up too. Read the book to get most of your questions answered from book two. I give this book 5 Stars, and I recommend that you all read it. Also if you haven’t read book one and two first.
I don’t know how to feel right now!!!…I’m truly hoping that is that is NOT Britt in n that box and someone is trying to send Nirvana into a tail spin and have Crown acting irrational!!!… I’m glad Sael sees how emotional Crown is moving and knows it’s time for them to spk on it!!!…Thorian sees it, but wants to allow Crown to move as he sees fit!!!… Zion is going to set some things on fire with the 2 families coming together!!!…I can see it!!!… Tristan thinks he is playing chest, but I’m sure he will not see those pieces falling before he can get up!!!… I read these books out of order and started with this series 1st, now I’m waiting on book 4!!!… Jashari is going to lose his SHATTTT when he finds out what happened to Britt!!!…
I love the the first two books, this 3rd installment was very repetitive. Seems like Vana wants to be the man in the toxic relationship. I loved them together at first but now it’s like she’s just using him for protection and sex. They don’t even feel close lol at this point he should have been with the reporter lady. And if I read one more “step forward “ I’m going to crash lmao. Sucks how they did Britt I wanted her to experience unconditional love. Doesn’t make sense how her family has all this power all of the sudden when they are not in the flame. Crown deserves better in all aspects!
First I want to say Sael is so unintentionally funny. Crown was annoyed as hell with him and Oxana. I just find it funny she’s addicting oxy and her name is Oxana 🤣. Crown came with the jokes in this book. Nirvana was way more mouthy this book as well. I understood her stance with black people and what it takes to get in their position, but she was making big moves and statements when it came to Pierre 👀👀. Zion said he’s a Mekhari-Deluca he is exactly who he think he is!!! Jeshari is about to flip the switch!!!!!
Now why they do my girl Britt like this??? SMH And why they coming for my man Crown like this?? Ima need the finale asap because the way these people moving against Crown is pissing me off. I don't like that Sael and Crown are now beefing either. This just took me on a roller coaster. I'm ready to see Nirvana and Crown get it together and really be in love and be in this - TOGETHER!! Maybe make a baby or 2. And Zion............my baby Zion.................he about to stir some stuff up!!!! And i'm here for it!!!
I didn’t see that coming who done it her brother or her uncle wow all because she didn’t drop the case I don’t think she didn’t drop it to choose a side she was just doing her job as the best lawyer in Dallas but her twisted ssa family just sad and crown has lost his mind behind vanna not making good choices leaving weak spots for the enemies to strike that cousin is going to wake up and it’s on and popping Zion is warlock.2 I can’t wait to see how all this plays out I’m here for it all
This book was captivating! I am tired of the push back from Nirvana and the audacity she has. I want to see more from Annika son, his perspective and things of that nature. I believe he gonna unite the families because he gonna step in for his uncle Crown! I want to see their relationship grow because it’s such a quiet understanding between them too! Can’t wait for the next book!! Hope it continues
This was gritty, tense, emotional and personal. Things heated up real quick and now somebody is going to feel the Mekhari wrath! That ending!!! I can't take it, I really need closure, this is too merch!!!!!
Zion being thrust into this new world real quick, not sure what's going to happen with him and being 1/2 Deluca!!! I almost wish I would've waited until the series ended. The suspense is nerve wrecking! Awesome series Brickhouse, just freaking awesome!!!
How you going to end it like this? I was NOT expecting this! Crown gotta get it together! Nirvana needs to sit down somewhere and listen to her man. Zion gonna shock them all. Poor Jashari gonna lose his mind. I hope the next book will be out next week, cause I’m ready!
The concept of all three books is whay kept me reading. But I feel like it was to much unnecessary explaining. Every statement didn't have to be broken down, it started making the page boring. To the point I started skipping pages. I'm a fan of Brickhouse books . just my opinion.
Not sure of the spelling but I absolutely hate her. Crown was ok at first . but he being lead by weakness for a bull headed think she all that, piece of meat. I so hope you check her . I won't be unhappy if you made her dead. She no support at all. That Pierre mess was too much she messy and he needs tighten up.
I’m normally a book-a-day reader, but I’ve been stuck on this series for two weeks. It’s just not clicking for me. The writing feels really robotic—lots of short, three-word sentences that make everything feel dragged out. Plus, there’s hardly any dialogue, just endless internal monologue. I’m really hoping book four wraps it all up.
I have read all three books and now I just can't anymore. Its just a lot of repetitive sentences throughout & a jumble of phrases. I'm not sure how many stories there are in this book , but it is so disconnected. And I don't " feel "the characters , no emotional evocation at all.
Loved book three! We've had insight on most of the characters. What about THORIAN? It would be great to learn more about to tech savvy, cynical, laughing brother! 😆 Crown done lost his mind stealing a whole casket with a body in it... And Brickhouse. That ending? Why, girl, why?
Brickhouse has done it again..this book had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish! I can’t believe it ended like that! Can’t wait for the next book! Highly recommended
See all 571 pages had me completely locked in…likeeee….I feel like Zion will have his own story to tell…Sael is really getting on all my nerves…Crown and Nirvana I feel like they are the ultimate Power Couple…so many feels…I truly enjoyed every page!!
Brickhouse girl WHYYYYY??? I need part 4 to drop immediately!!! Ya hear me? Are you listening?? Like I have so many questions! I know one thing Tristan gots to die. And for some reason I just feel like Zion gone be the one to it. Baby this series is tea I love it !
Ma'am, when you started with it's not the end, I was heated! But, then I started reading. And when I say, the way you left every character's next move hanging just right! Impatiently waiting for the next book!😝
I ain’t gonna lie. I had a hard time staying focused on this book. It was very repetitive. It didn’t keep my attention like the other two books. I hope the next one’s better.
I am in deep with this series and will continue... However this part gave filler. So much was added and povs dragged in several parts... what i hope to see is the brothers back on the same page ... and want Annika to win. I will be looking for the next part
Come on Brick please have part 4 done by tomorrow come on sis this got to stop Not Britt This going to hit different with Jashari omg he about to go crazy and 💩 about to get real real I have a feeling it’s 2 more coming not just one because you don’t like to rush it
What an AHMAZING cliffhanger! I love Crowne and Nirvana together. A lil unbalanced right now but they’re learning to bring that balance together! Can’t wait for part IV🥰
Whew this is getting good. So much to cqpture. I hate this for Brittany. Lord I cant wait for next one and Jashari gone lose his mind. Nitvama need tomsit down, uggghhh she doing to much
