From New York Times bestselling author N.J. Walters comes the tale of Death’s third son…in this gripping, paranormal small-town romance where love defies fate—and even Death himself.
Love her. Defy Death. Lose everything.
Kieran Blackwell has always done everything right.
While his brothers rebelled against their father—the Grim Reaper himself—Kieran followed the rules. Reaped souls without question. Buried every shred of emotion that might make him weak. As Death’s most loyal son, he thought he’d earned his place at his father’s side.
He was wrong.
Now his brothers have fallen—choosing love over immortality—and Kieran has been sent to the small town of Redemption to clean up their mess. One final assignment. One impossible task.
Reap the soul of a woman destined to die.
It should’ve been simple. Find her. Do the job. Walk away.
Then he meets Georgia Baker. She’s warm, stubborn, and far too good for a creature like him. A small-town baker with a fierce heart and a dangerous past, she sees something in Kieran he thought he’d buried long ago.
And for the first time in centuries…he feels.
But Georgia isn’t just anyone. She’s his assignment.
And this time, failure doesn’t mean punishment. It means exile…or worse—losing the only woman who’s ever made him want to live.
Each book in the Blackwell Brothers Redemption series is STANDALONE: * Samael * Alexiares * Kieran
Once upon a time N.J. had the idea that she would like to quit her job at the bookstore, sell everything she owned, leave her hometown, and write romance novels in a place where no one knew her. And she did. Two years later, she went back to the bookstore and her hometown and settled in for another seven years.
One day she gave notice at her job on a Friday morning. On Sunday afternoon, she received a tentative acceptance for her first erotic romance novel and life would never be the same.
N.J. Walters is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author who has always been a voracious reader, and now she spends her days writing novels of her own. Vampires, werewolves, dragons, time-travelers, seductive handymen, and next-door neighbors with smoldering good looks—all vie for her attention. It’s a tough life, but someone’s got to live it.
Kieran was an enjoyable paranormal romance with a lot of heart. I really liked Kieran as a character and found his character arc to be the strongest part of the story. Watching him wrestle with duty, loyalty, and emotions he’d spent centuries suppressing added depth to the romance and made him easy to root for. Georgia was equally likable. Her warmth, optimism, and kindness brought out a softer side of Kieran, and I enjoyed their dynamic together.
The small-town setting was another highlight for me. The bakery, the community, and the paranormal elements blended together well and created a cozy atmosphere despite the higher stakes. There were plenty of sweet moments between the main characters, and the story moved at a steady pace that kept me from getting too bored.
The ending was a satisfying conclusion to the series as a whole. It was nice to see the threads from the previous books come together and get closure for these characters and their world.
My biggest issue was that the overall storyline felt very similar to the first two books in the series. The premise of one of Death’s sons being sent on a mission only to fall in love follows a familiar pattern, and at times I wished this installment had taken the concept in a different direction. While I still enjoyed the romance and characters, the plot didn’t feel quite as fresh as I had hoped.
Overall, this was a solid paranormal romance with a lovable cast, a sweet romance, and a satisfying series conclusion. While it wasn’t my favorite of the trilogy, I still had a good time with it and would recommend it to readers who enjoy paranormal romance with small-town charm and emotional stakes.
I'm feeling very bittersweet as I write this review- the Blackwell Brothers' Redemption series holds a special place in my heart, and is the first book series I read from Entangled. Samael, Alexiares, and now finally, Kieran. N.J. Walters is an AMAZING author, and I need y'all to go read this series so I can have more people to freak out over it with!
The premise is the same as the first two books: one of Death's sons gets dropped in Redemption with the goal of reaping his next soul. The problem? Sometimes love gets in the way of fate. And I ate up every single book! I do enjoy how this one had a bit more connection with the other two brothers (which makes sense, given how the other two books ended).
I LOVED how we got to see Kieran with his Georgia! And the ending was as sweet as one of Georgia's famous white chocolate fudge brownies🥰 I still cannot believe this series is over, but I know it will be one of my comfort re-reads for years to come!
I’ve been enjoying the Blackwell Brothers Redemption Series, beginning with Samuel, then Alexiares, and now Kieran. They are all sons of the Grim Reaper and are expected to reap a soul of their father’s choosing as a test. I liked that Kieran was the rule follower, being the youngest. His brothers found love and did their thing. Kieran, like his brothers, is sent to the small town of Redemption, but this time to fix what his brothers left. This guy was so convinced that he was not going to do what his brothers did—fall in love. Then he meets the soul he’s supposed to reap, Georgia, and oops.
The story was quite the ‘he falls first’ situation, with some funny parts sprinkled throughout. I liked Kieran and Georgia together.
Thank you to Entangled Publishing and Author N.J. Walters for the #gifted e-copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Kieran is a spectacularly heartbreaking and poignantly transformative journey that will leave you wondering how you ever found your way to the end with your heart still whole. Nothing could have prepared me for the profound depth of feeling, the desperation of belonging, and the agonizing need to be seen that nearly knocked me over as I walked alongside these incredible characters. I savored each and every beautiful and painful interaction between them as they navigated the unpredictable road to the culmination of their relationship and the ultimate success or failure of their love. One thing I knew for sure was that this story had no intention of leaving me unscathed. I would walk away forever wearing the mark of the power of their love story on my very soul.
Georgia Baker is excited to start her life over in her hometown of Redemption. She has the advantage of knowing the good people here, and she is secure in her skills to keep her successful. All she needs is some good help to run the shop and attend to customers while she bakes in the kitchen. She could never have imagined that Kieran Blackwell would have volunteered to fill that position temporarily. At the very least, she imagined his bad boy persona would bring more women into her bakery to buy her goods not to wreck havoc on her own heart. Kieran had no intention of pursuing Georgia until he realized she was his soul to reap. As a Reaper he had a job, and now he had even more then his usual job to take care of thanks to his careless brothers.
Georgia was trying to get her personal life in order just like she had her business. No men after her terrible breakup, and no more drama at her job. Surely she could achieve both in Redemption. Cal the local cop was protective of her, but she had no feelings towards him unlike Kieran. She could not shut Kieran out like she could ever other man around her. Her heart wanted him from the start. Kieran found himself inexplicably drawn to Georgia in ways that defied every other experience he had with women in his long life. She calmed his chaotic nature, and she brought light into his darkness that he could not and honestly didn't want to try to figure out. He was tired and just wanted to give in and love her. She balanced him in ways that confused and lured him in. Couldn't they find a way to keep this special and remarkable gift they had found in each other? After all, something extraordinary like this doesn't come along every day.
N. J. Walers has continued this trilogy in the perfect way with Kieran and Georgia. They are a wonderful way to weave these stories together and showcase the magnificent storytelling craft that she posseses and continues to improve and refine. Nothing is as rewarding and satisfying as reading a series that has such stunning twists and turns that leave you breathless all the while it is building up for the out of this world ending that leaves you absolutely spellbound with shock and awe. You are my literary hero!
Kieran is the third and final book in the Blackwell Brothers Redemption series, and I went into it already loving this world and these characters. I’ve read and enjoyed both of the previous books, and I was so excited to see how Kieran’s story would unfold.
Kieran is sent to a small town to reap the soul of a woman fated to die and save his brothers from the mortal life they chose. It seems like a simple task to Kieran, until he meets Georgia, who makes him feel everything he has spent centuries trying to suppress and ignore.
Kieran and Georgia have an instant and intense connection, and I loved watching Kieran struggle with his ever-growing feelings. He’s spent so long holding himself back from others and staying in control and unfeeling that seeing Georgia break through his walls was great. Georgia is Kieran’s opposite. She’s warm and kind, and she trusts easily. Her optimism and overall goodness bring out a softer, more vulnerable side of Kieran that made me swoon.
And speaking of swooning, the romance in this book is chef’s kiss! These two have sooooo much chemistry, and every interaction between them is filled with sexual tension. I especially loved how Kieran could not help but be drawn into Georgia’s world, jumping in to help her at the bakery and just being there with her to support her when her ex returns and causes issues. He’s also very body positive and loves her curves, which she isn’t used to. Love it!
The bakery setting is fantastic too, and adds a cozy, sweet (pun intended) layer to the story. I loved that Georgia is a baker and that her shop becomes a central place for their connection to grow. It definitely adds to the warm, small-town vibes that we see throughout the series. The positive and intimate vibes of the bakery also contrast well with the darker elements.
Another highlight for me was seeing familiar faces from the first two books, though you don’t have to read them to fully enjoy this one. Each book can be read as a standalone. However, Kieran’s brothers and their partners all play roles here, and I loved getting more time with them. Their dynamics, their support for Kieran, even when he makes it difficult, and the way their stories intertwine really brought the whole series full circle in the best of ways.
I believe this is the final book in the series, and I’m definitely a little sad to say goodbye to this world. That being said, the ending wrapped everything up so well for Kieran, Georgia, and the others, and the series as a whole. I really enjoyed it and look forward to Walters’ next series!
For me, Kieran is a solid, satisfying conclusion to the paranormal small town romance trilogy featuring the sons of the Grim Reaper.
Kieran Blackwell is the dutiful, rule following son who’s spent centuries burying his emotions and reaping souls without question. (Sounds a lot like his brothers 😉)
But after his brothers fall for love and defy their father, Kieran is dispatched to the town of Redemption for one last assignment….. reap the soul of Georgia Baker, a warm hearted smalltown baker with a fierce spirit and a troubled past. What starts as a straightforward (if emotionally cold) mission quickly unravels as Kieran finds himself feeling for the first time in centuries drawn to her warmth, stubbornness, and the way she sees the man beneath the reaper. ♥️
This book delivered exactly what i like in this series, forced proximity, fastburn steam, plenty of hot/cold tension, and a suspenseful edge that feels a notch higher than the previous installments.
Kieran’s broody determination and internal conflict made him interesting, he’s not just rebelling like his brothers, he’s actively trying to stay loyal while his resolve crumbles in the face of real connection. Georgia was just delightful, she’s grounded, resilient, and full of heart.
The smalltown setting of Redemption continues to shine as a cozy yet dangerous backdrop, and the way the story ties up the brothers’ arcs and their father’s expectations provides a sweet, cohesive series closure without feeling rushed.
The romance has solid heat and emotional depth, though some elements like the initial hookup dynamics can lean towards predictable or convenient at times.
It’s a quick, engaging read that balances steam, emotion, and family drama well. If you’ve read the first two books, the overall formula will feel familiar (reaper son meets assignment, falls hard, defies Dad). Some tension resolves in expected ways, but the execution and series payoff make it worthwhile.
It’s a comforting, spicy paranormal romance that sticks the landing for the Blackwell brothers.
Perfect for us who enjoy fated (or defied) love, immortal heroes learning to feel, and heroines who bake their way into your heart.
If you enjoyed the earlier books, this is a must read finale.
Kieran's brothers, Sam and Alex are already in Redemption with the women they chose to give up their reaper abilities for. Now Death has sent his 3rd son to Redemption to talk his brothers out of staying and coming back into the fold and resuming their duties as reapers. Kieran also has a mission to reap Georgia's soul when she dies, which by all accounts, should be soon. If Kieran fails in this mission, there are going to be really bad consequences for him.
Georgia is the human whose soul he has to reap but once he finds her, gets a job at her bakery and gets to know her, he doesn't want to extinguish her light. In fact, when accidents start happening around her, he saves her twice which is weird for him because he's not known for getting involved or interfering in human's lives.
Georgia has no idea that Kieran is a reaper or that his brothers used to be reapers. All she knows is that she enjoys having him around her bakery and working for her. When the lust they feel for each other gets to be too much and they act on their feelings, things change between them. Kieran is having a hard time thinking that he'll have to move on with his life without her, even though that's what he's supposed to do.
When Georgia's ex comes back into her life, it's all Kieran can do not to knock him out because of the way this guy is treating her, but she holds her own against the guy for the most part. She just has no idea how desperate her ex is and what lengths he'll go to get what he wants. The danger for her really amps up with the ex-boyfriend poking around.
Georgia was really easy to like and Kieran along with his brothers are all such alpha males but great guys so that makes them very likable. I was happy to see them trying to get along together after a while.
The surprise for me was Death and how this story ended. I love when a book can surprise me and this one did. I cannot recommend this series enough. I would read anything this author writes.
Disclosure: I was given an e-ARC of this book but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Kieran Blackwell is a reaper as were his brothers and his father is Death himself. He's always done everything right never shirking his duty. He's reaped soul after soul without ever questioning it. He's also buried every shred of emotion that might make him weak. As Death's most loyal and youngest son, he thought that he'd earned his place at his father's side. Sadly he was wrong.
Now that his brothers have chosen love over immortality, Kieran has been sent to the small town of Redemption to clean up their mess. He also must reap the soul of a woman destined to die. It should have been simple. All he had to do was complete the assignment.
Georgia Baker is the first person he meets. She's warm, stubborn, one heck of a baker and far too good for the likes of Kieran. She's a small town baker with her own shop and a dangerous past. But she sees something in Kieran he thought he'd buried a long time ago.
And for the first time in centuries he's human and he feels. But there is one small problem. Georgia isn't just anyone. She's his assignment.
This time Death has made it clear, failure doesn't mean punishment. It means exile and losing the only woman who's ever made him want to live.
N.J Walters finishes this series with a bang. What a great book. It had me from the get go and I couldn't put this one down. I've read all of the books and this one explains everything. Kieran was amazing and Georgia was such a tough little cookie. All in all this was an incredible book that ended the series so well. I don't think I've ever read a book that had me understanding the why's and who's as this one did. If you are up for a paranormal romance book that will absolutely captivate you then this is for you and if you read them in order like I did you will understand so much more. Ms. Walters once again you have totally earned the five stars I'm giving you. I can't wait to see what you come up with next.
One phrase: Death’s loyal son meets the woman who makes him want to live 🖤
Kieran Blackwell has always been the obedient one.
While his brothers rebelled against Death himself, Kieran followed every rule. Reaped every soul. Buried every emotion. Stayed loyal. Stayed cold. Stayed useful.
Until Redemption.
Until Georgia.
This book has such a delicious paranormal small town setup. Kieran is sent to clean up the mess his brothers left behind and complete one final assignment: reap the soul of a woman destined to die. It should be simple. He has done this for centuries.
But Georgia Baker is not simple.
She’s warm, stubborn, kind, and strong in that quiet way that sneaks under your skin. She sees pieces of Kieran he thought were long gone, and watching him slowly start to feel again was my favorite part. There is something so satisfying about a cold, duty bound immortal unraveling because one woman makes him question everything he thought he knew.
The emotional stakes are EVERYTHING here because Georgia isn’t just the woman he’s falling for. She’s his assignment. Loving her means defying Death. Saving her could cost him everything. And honestly? That kind of doomed, impossible love is exactly my weakness.
This is romantic, emotional, paranormal, and full of that “I should walk away but I physically cannot” tension.
✨ Tropes & vibes: 💀 Grim Reaper’s son 🖤 forbidden love 🏡 small town paranormal romance 🍰 baker FMC ⚔️ duty vs desire 😭 impossible assignment 🔥 immortal MMC falls hard 🌙 love defies fate 💞 protective hero ✨ standalone series romance
📚 Read this if you like: Paranormal romance with emotional stakes, immortal heroes who finally crack, small town magic, forbidden love, and stories where love is powerful enough to challenge Death itself.
Kieran is the last of the Reaper's son's to gain a HEA. Have the storylines been very similar for the three books? Yes. Am I in anyway disappointed? Nope!
Kieran, unlike his brothers, has been carrying out his duties well. But Death is still interfering in his son's lives and makes another bargain with Kieran. Carry out his own reaping, convince his bothers to carry out theirs and they'll all be together in the Shadowland. Kieran may enjoy living among the humans but fall in love with one? He could never!
Enter Georgia. Curvy baker, returned home town girl with a chip on her shoulder where men are concerned. At first she's wary of this 6' 8" behemoth of a man who's willing to work in her bakery part time will trying to sort out family squabbles with his brothers. But before she knows it she's offered him a place to stay and she's failing in not being attracted to his very handsome face, but very temporary status in the town doesn't give her a lot of hope for a future.
Redemption by name, redemption by nature. All the Blackwell Brothers have found their heart's desires in this small Georgia town and Kieran is no different. Defying his father's wishes becomes second nature and protecting Georgia becomes his main task. Someone really has it out for the delectable baker and Kieran is willing to utilise his Reaper talents for revenge!
Cal, local deputy Sheriff, is once again one of my favourite secondary characters. He's the stand in brother we all need - keeps an eye on everyone without interfering too much and ready to run a background check at the drop of a hat, lol.
This is a instant attraction, fast burn, paranormal romance with added family drama! I really enjoyed learning more about the boys creation and Death's parenting skills.
Ooof. I was feeling some big, big feelings while reading this book. And I loved every heart wrenching, joyous minute of it. The story had a layered storyline, witty dialogue, surprising plot twists, flawed main characters, mystery, and suspense all woven together in a captivating plot. Georgia runs the bakery in the small town of Redemption. She is overworked and recently lost her PT worker but is happy in her life. She is joyful and caring. Kieran is an immortal reaper and one of Death’s sons. He is broody and distant. The Grim Reaper gives him a choice, keep living his life as it is OR go to Redemption, reap the soul he has been assigned, and convince his brothers to reap the souls they gave up their immortality for. If he accepts the task and fails, he will be banished to the Shadowland for eternity. Of course, Kieran agrees to save his brothers and is confident and arrogant enough to believe he will succeed quickly and easily. Ha. He is dropped in Redemption with no powers and with limited resources. He immediately encounters Georgia and realizes she’s his assignment but keeping his distance is not as easy as it has been for the last millennia. And thus starts their unexpected romance full of all the attraction, chemistry and angst. Despite “knowing” where the story was supposed to end up, I was unprepared for the journey and how invested I became with Kieran and Georgia’s past wounds and their healing as their love story played out. Their story was woven together so beautifully that it made the book unputdownable and a perfect ending to their series.
Finally! We find out why the Grim Reaper did it!! This is the third book in the trilogy about the Grim Reaper’s three sons: Samael, Alexiares and Kieran. Why their father chose to literally drop them into Redemption, NC with only pocket change, no powers, no phone, nothing, has been a mystery throughout all three books. In this one we find out and it may surprise many. Kieran is given the greatest challenge of all the brothers. Bring back his brothers, reap the souls they should have taken as well as his designated soul or lose everything. Kieran has lived millennia but still is overly confident in his abilities to get his brothers back. When he meets Sam and Alex in Redemption, Kier is not so convinced anymore that he can fulfill his promise. They have fallen in love with their respective “souls” to retrieve; therefore, he will not allow them to die. As Kier gets to know his “soul” by the name of Georgia Baker, he is thrown by the feelings he is having and fighting against. I loved this book and its ending was a thriller. I would love to have an epilogue to the epilogues to show the three sons happy in their new lives; maybe even giving Death some grandchildren. Hint, hint, hint… If you enjoy gods and demons brought down to human standards, you will want to read this book and the books before this one. All come highly recommended. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through NetGalley and Entangled Publishing. I am sorry this adventure has ended. LOVED. THIS. BOOK.
Kieran is an easy to read paranormal romance. It is the final book in the Blackwell Brothers Redemption series. Although each book is a standalone, I do believe this one would be best enjoyed after reading at least one of the others since the other brothers are in this book quite a bit.
Kieran and Georgia are the main characters in this book, and I enjoyed their character development, especially Kieran's. His internal conflict made him more interesting and added a lot to the story. Georgia was great opposite him as her warmth contrasts (and also compliments) his tendency to be standoffish as he struggles when the task he's been given. It was great to see all the brothers together in this book: I loved seeing them interact in the book because it gave me a better idea of what their relationship was like. We also get more of Death in this book, which I loved! Overall, all the characters were well developed and likable.
The small town setting is enjoyable because you get a great cast of characters with the townsfolk. There the protective cop and the gossipers--all of the townspeople add fun color to the book. The bakery even made it feel a bit cozy.
Overall, the book was an easy and quick read. The pacing was good. While the plot was a bit too similar to the other books in the series, it was still entertaining to read. The conclusion to the series felt satisfying and it tied everything together.
Rounding up to 4 stars.
Thank you Entangled Publishing for the eARC via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. 💜
Kieran had me hooked from the start! 💀❤️ The whole concept of a reaper falling for the very soul he's meant to collect had me thinking, "Yep... I already know where this is going," and I was more than happy to go along for the ride. 😂
The chemistry between Kieran and Georgia was instant, and the forced proximity only made the tension even better. They both wanted each other from the beginning, and when they finally gave in... 🥵🔥 Let's just say it did not disappoint.
Poor Kieran though... for a thousand-year-old immortal, the man has absolutely no idea what to do with feelings. 🤦♀️ Watching him battle his emotions while pushing Georgia away was equal parts frustrating and endearing. Meanwhile, David had some nerve showing his face after everything he'd done, and somehow he just kept getting worse. 😤
I loved seeing Kieran's brothers again and watching them encourage him to follow his heart. The family storyline ended up being one of my favourite parts, especially learning the truth about their father and why everything had unfolded the way it had. That ending was so much sweeter than I expected and gave everyone the happy ending they deserved. 🖤
My only tiny complaint is that I would have loved just a little more spice, but I still had such a great time with this one!
Tropes: 💀 Reaper x Human ❤️ Fated Love 🏠 Forced Proximity 🔥 Instant Chemistry ✨ Immortal Hero 🖤 Paranormal Romance 👨👦 Protective Family 💞 Happily Ever After
Thank you, N.J., NetGalley, and Entangled Publishing, for this early copy. All parts of this review are of my honest opinion 💚
Kieran is book 3 in the Blackwell Brothers Redemption series and each book is a standalone. I have yet to read the first two (Samael and Alexiares), but Kieran was such an amazing book that I have added them to my tbr! Kieran specifically is about the last son of the Grim Reaper. Kieran himself has buried his emotions to do his job as a reaper and is seen as the dutiful child that is following his father’s footsteps well. His brothers on the other hand, have given up their position and immortality so Kieran is given a task… fix the mistakes of his brothers and reap his assigned soul or choose his consequence. What originally seems easy, quickly becomes complicated. Thus leaving Kieran to decide if love is worth everything.
Now let me tell you, I love this book. I read Kieran all in one sitting with no breaks and I laughed, awed, cried, and cheered. It was just perfect for this reader who loves a paranormal romance. I think this book will be a huge hit for fellow paranormal romance readers, especially if you love emotional stakes, surprise, a everyone knows everyone small town, and difficult decisions.
In Redemption, you may just find true redemption. Pick up your copy today 🥰
Tropes 💀 Grim Reaper’s Son 🖤 Forbidden Love 🍪 Baker FMC 💫 Fate vs Stakes 💞 Book 3 in a Standalone Series 🏡 Small Town Paranormal Romance
This is the third book in the Blackwell Brothers Redemption series. It can be read standalone.
This is a paranormal romance that follows Kieran, the youngest son of Death, aka The Grim Reaper. He is the loner, estranged from his brothers and has blocked out feeling from his life.
Like his brothers before him, his father gives him a challenge. But this challenge is tied to his brothers. Reap the soul presented and save his brothers from a mortal fate.
Little does he know that his brothers willingly chose their fate and he can’t understand how this is possible.
Georgia Baker is the owner of Redemption’s bakery. She has suffered heartache in the past from a previous relationship as well as from her parents. She just wants to be seen. To be loved for everything she is.
Kieran becomes Georgia’s friend, protector and lover. The story is a very intimate forbidden romance, with strong theme of self-discovery and learning that difficult choices can have the most desirable outcomes.
I loved Kieran’s character and his struggle to come to terms with the new emotions he feels. I was glad the author gave us more backstory on Death himself, which helped understand the brothers more. This is instant attraction and lust that turns into so much more.
Overall, a great bingeable read that I would recommend.
Thank you to @entangledpublishing for providing me a copy of this book to read and review.
You know the whole “the heart is a lonely hunter” saying? It would appear that the heart isn’t the only lonely thing. Yes, Kieran is lonely. But we knew that. After all, he’s been phoning it in with far better success than his brothers for…well, centuries. But he wasn’t caught in his deception. Instead, he’s asked to make a choice. Save his brothers or walk away. He foolishly thinks that his brothers have made huge mistakes, so he’s all about saving them. But do they really need saving?
Honestly, as much as I liked the first two rides to love for reaper royalty, I think this is my favorite. This gives Kieran love, family back by his side, completeness, and yeah, a few bumps and bruises along the way. But this also gives us the ending we needed. We need to know that it’ll all work out. And finding that Death himself went to these lengths for a chance at something more for someone? I adored that. Death is sort of adorable in his awkwardness when it comes to regular old interactions, and Georgia is the perfect person to bring him out of his self-imposed exile. I almost wish we could see a glimpse of this family again, if only because Death needs togetherness and love and enjoyment with others.
So this series is 100% worth the angst and the mystery and the agony of wondering how this can possibly all end. Truly.
I am so sad that this series is over! I truly loved all 3 books in this series and are is say……I want more Death? I really wish there would be one more book based on Death.
I wasn’t sure how this book would compare to Samael or Alexaeries books but I really loved Kieran’s story. Like his brothers, Kieran is literally dropped into Redemption on a mission to reap a soul and save his brothers….seems simple enough, except Georgia Baker is way too captivating and enticing. I enjoyed reading and watching the connection between Kieran and Georgia grow as the story progressed. He saved her so many times when it would have been simpler to just standby and reap her soul…..but love finds a way!
I loved that Kieran was so willing to help out, work hard and support Georgia in her business. Georgia was enamored from the beginning and encouraged Kieran to heal his relationship with his brothers. Their relationship was wholesome and beautiful and I’m so happy I got a chance to reap their story.
The pacing of the story was fantastic, it kept me engaged and wanting to read. The ending of this book wrapped up the series beautifully and I am so sad it’s over. I’ve been in a reading slump and DNF’d my last two books. I’m so glad this book pulled me from that slump. I can’t wait to read more from this author!
Thanks to NetGalley/Entangled publishing for the eARC. All opinions are my own.
I had the absolute pleasure of reading this as an ARC copy~ thank you to the publisher and author for the opportunity!
Absolutely loved the lead characters Kieran and Georgia. Kieran fell *hard* for our leading lady and she was very strong of character and tended to put others first (something she was working on). And I loved how easy it was to hate Georgia's villain. The way I cheered at the HEA for the trilogy? Chef's kiss
Plot was great, was greatly driven by internal conflict. Like I would say ⅔ internal conflict for the story and ⅓ external conflict so you know the characters are going to be deep in their feelings.
The setting was great and reliable and believable especially with Georgia's knowledge of baking and how to properly run a bakery.
Vibes were fantastic! I came here for a spicy, angsty time of love between a reaper trying to save family and a human just like "How are they gonna make this work??? I need to know."
Writing receives a half star from me. This was a pre-published version of the book, not the final version that can be bought. So I can't speak fully as to what you'll get in the final published version, but I found N.J. Walters' writing to be very endearing and at times I had to laugh and gush at how much I loved the characters and their interactions.
This was a fun little quick read. I really love reading small town cozy romances. This story follows Kieran, son of Death, and Georgia, the town baker. And yes it is absolutely as adorable as you think it is. Nothing like a strong, brooding man piping icing onto a cupcake to make your insides go all gooey. There are many good back and forth banter moments between the two, but you do also get some spice. I also love a book set in my home state, it always makes me that much more attached to the book. This book was also a good reflection on death and fate and what hand the universe plays in our time here. It's not always a fun topic to think about but reading Kieran made it a more lighthearted topic to explore. N.J. Walters does an excellent job at keeping the pacing of the book. There was never a dull or stalling moment, I was invested from beginning to end. I think she also did an excellent job weaving in the other characters while not taking away from the FMC and MMC. It did make me want to read up on Sam and Alex and I'm so glad those two books are already out and I don't have to wait. If those two books are as good as this one, I'll definitely be looking into her other series.
Oh how I wanted Kieran’s story – and, man, am I sad it (and the series) is over. What a way to end it all though…
Kieran was, like his brothers, out of touch from the family but suddenly even more alone than ever. If you’ve read the first two stories, the premise is the same only this will be the final fight. The last decision. And Kieran wants to save himself and his brothers, at any cost.
And it was going to cost. Georgia was the one he never looked for and yet here she was. At the absolute wrong place, wrong time and she was his task. His burden. It was them or her and he struggled to make the right decision knowing there could never be one. And Georgia, well, she was another great female lead, keeping her head down and doing what she could to keep true to herself and the life she wanted to live. I wanted it all for her and for Kieran and was honestly worried on how it would end. When I’m that invested in the characters, when I actually worry about them and what’s going to happen to them? Then I know I’m going to cry or laugh – but probably both…. Loved this and all the other stories in this series.
*I happily reviewed this story **Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled: Amara
This was definitely an interesting read and not something I’ve picked up before. Overall, I enjoyed it, but I do think going in without reading the first two books made it feel a bit repetitive in concept.
The whole grim reaper sent to do a job and then falling for the girl storyline felt familiar, and I found myself wondering if the earlier books follow a similar pattern. That said, I still liked Kieran’s character. His internal struggle between duty and emotion was probably my favorite part of the story. Watching him start to feel after shutting everything down for so long added a lot of depth.
Georgia was also really easy to like. She felt warm and grounded, and I liked how she challenged Kieran without even trying to. Their dynamic had some sweet moments, even with the heavier stakes hanging over everything.
The small-town setting added a nice contrast to the paranormal elements, and the pacing kept me engaged throughout. I just think I might have connected more with the story if I had read the series in order.
Overall, a solid read with an emotional core, especially if you enjoy paranormal romance with a fate versus love storyline.
Kieran was a charming paranormal romance that leaned heavily into emotion, connection, and small-town charm. What stood out most to me was Kieran’s character growth. Beneath his strength and sense of responsibility was someone carrying centuries of emotional weight, and watching those walls slowly come down made his journey incredibly rewarding. His relationship with Georgia felt natural and heartfelt, with her bright spirit and compassionate nature balancing him perfectly.
I also loved the atmosphere of the story. The cozy small-town setting, complete with a beloved bakery and a supportive community, gave the book a warm and comforting feel while still leaving room for paranormal intrigue and higher stakes. The romance was tender, the chemistry was believable, and there were plenty of sweet moments that left me smiling.
As the final book in the trilogy, it wrapped up the series in a satisfying way and gave readers the closure they’ve been waiting for.
If you’re looking for a paranormal romance filled with lovable characters, heartfelt relationships, and a cozy supernatural setting, Kieran is definitely worth picking up.
Kieran starts out and has a similar plot to the prior 2 books -- death's son is sent & confined to Redemption until he completes his task of reaping the assigned soul or face banishment only to find the heart doesn't always follow the rules. Only in this installment Kieran is also task with "saving" his older brothers, all of whom have drifted far apart from each other. Kieran is forced (much to his displeasure and dismay) the emotions he long ago buried so deep he thought they were gone. While Georgia and Kieran's relationship moves quickly and in a familiar manner, what set's this book apart is the Blackwell brothers' tentative connection and rediscovery of brotherly bonds and Kieran's internal conflicts -- dealing with unburied emotions, conflicting desires, the destiny he thought he was bound to vs the one he wants, the power and pain of family and love. The story overall was an enjoyable read with interesting characters and a nicely paced plot balanced with emotion, love and hope that did a satisfying job of wrapping up the series and providing the HEA for the reader.

3.25-3.5⭐️ - some spoilers coming! This was an interesting idea! The Grim Reaper who loved his 3 sons saw they were unhappy after living for a millennia. So he concocted a plan for them to go to a small town called Redemption to collect the soul of a woman. They each ended up falling for the woman and gave up their immortality.
This book follows Kieran and Georgia the bakery owner. I liked both characters. Georgia was good fighting to make her own way with a successful bakery after being taken advantage of and cheated on by her ex. Kieran the reaper, had shut his feelings down for so many years that he was like ice.
He tried to save his brothers, but they didn’t want to be saved at the expense of the women they loved. Kieran didn’t understand that until the very end of the book where he finally admitted to loving Georgia and sacrificing himself for her to his father.
Poor lonely Grim Reaper, just wants his boys to be happy and be included.
This was an easy read with a great story idea.

Death’s son meeting the woman who makes him actually want to live in an assignment to save his brothers’ immortality...oh no, he has feelings...panic incoming 🫣 🖤
Kieran and Georgia have that instant, intense connection that immediately pulls you in, but what I loved most was watching Kieran completely lose his shit emotional self-control one feeling at a time 😂This man has spent so long shutting himself off, staying guarded, controlled, and emotionally unavailable that seeing Georgia slowly break through all those walls was one of the best parts of the book 🖤 and Georgia’s warmth, optimism, and genuinely good heart bring out such a softer, more vulnerable side of him, which somehow makes his protective/intense side even better 👀🔥
Loved his body-positive attitude, Kieran absolutely adores her curves in a way that feels so reassuring and genuine, especially because Georgia clearly isn’t used to being seen that way 🥹✨
Kieran was the toughest of the brothers and wouldn’t let anything sway him for his mission until he met Georgia.
I loved how he was determined to do things his way and how he tried to keep any emotion he had left in check. Georgia was an independent woman who had been some heartache and rose above it and her persona is perfect for Kieran. Darkness and Light.
This is a fast paced read with wonderful characters. I loved how this author included his brothers and their partners into this storyline, it’s always great to read about previous characters from the series and how they interact with each other,
If you love to read about fated mates with a twist with grumpy hero’s and passionate moments, then this is for you.
I loved this steamy paranormal romance and Ms Walters has outdone herself again with this series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Kieran Blackwell Brothers Redemption Book 3 By N.J. Walters
I really loved this final book of the Blackwell Brothers and how Kieran who was tasked with convincing his brothers Samael and Alexiares back into the fold by their father Death. But it will mean that he can't change the fate of Georgia who owns the bakery in Redemption. It seems like an easy task right? When accidents start to happen Kier isn't about the stand by and let Georgia go even if it means he'll go to Shadow Land and not be reborn later. When Kier starts working in the bakery with her all his promises to his father goes out the window. Will Kier find his HEA just like his older brothers? Can they stop Georgia's former boyfriend who wants her recipes?
I loved this story a bit more than the first two plus you get a glimpse into the three women who are their mothers and why their father raised them. He does have a sweet tooth which Georgia can definitely supply him with goodies.
Thank you Entangled Publishing, Net Galley and the author with a fantastic ending to another great series.
So this one is very similar to the second book. In this one Kieran is sent to the town of Redemption by his father, Death, to reap a soul. He meets Georgia and falls in love with her and of course her soul is the one he is supposed to reap. So all of these books have instalove, which is not my favorite, but it does end sweetly. This one ends a little differently though because this is about the third brother, so Death enters the picture at the end to talk to all three of his sons falling in love with their marks. Georgia owns a bakery and I wanted some baked goods the whole time reading this. Oh yeah, like the other books, in this one Georgia has a crazy ex that Kieran wants to protect her from. It is under 300 pages, so a quick read.
-"Do you know what it's like to live in cold and darkness and be offered a glimpse of warmth and light?"
I have a soft spot for these three reaper brothers and the town of Redemption, which is appropriately named, so I am always excited when I get to go back. And when a reaper brother lands, yes literally lands in Redemption, with the uh…assistance of his father, the Grim Reaper, yes the actual Grim Reaper, then you know that trouble will be following too.
This was a great fast paced storyline with all the what the moments that will have you on the edge of your seat. This was a fantastic end to a fantastic series, and questions we had have been answered, which I greatly appreciated. This book had my heart, and I was so happy with the ending. It gave me exactly what I needed with all the feels. I will miss the reaper brothers and Redemption, but this was a perfect ending for the series, and a must read.
