ARC copy from author - thank you for this opportunity

This book was one I struggled to read and put down at the same time, but overall, I was completely hooked. The plot moves at a fast pace, the tension is constant, and the romance delivers plenty of angst, chemistry, and low to medium spice. The cat and mouse type game between Addie and Vidar kept me turning pages, frustrated with them one minute and rooting for their version of a HEA next.
Addie was such a breath of fresh air for a FMC. Strong, intelligent, and fiercely independent, she is not some flower that wilts. What I loved most was that she never lost sight of who she is, what she needs and wants out of her life. Even when others mistakes become her own to fix, she refuses to let the situation carve her into something she isn’t. While she has to sacrifice parts of her life to help clean up the mess, she stays true to herself every step of the way.
Vidar, on the other hand, tested my patience more than once. He's stubborn, possessive, protective, and carries an ego that often gets in his own way. He's not a bad man, but the walls he's built around his heart are so high that only his family has ever been allowed inside. From the start, he treats Addie like someone an outsider and that not only hinders the relationship, but risks his pack as a whole. We get it—there are enemies threatening the family—but his inability to trust her became frustrating and it made him look extremley immature at times.
My biggest frustration with this book, though, was that so many of the conflicts could have been solved if both Addie and Vidar had simply gotten their heads out of their asses and communicated, honestly, there were times I wanted to knock their heads together and say ‘Get a damn grip you two’. The chemistry was incredible, but the lack of honest conversations almost made me DNF. That said, the tension and emotional payoff wouldn't have hit nearly as hard without all that stubbornness standing in the way.
What made this romance work so well was that neither character was perfect. Vidar's emotional growth is slow and realistic, and even by the HEA it's clear he still has a long way to go when it comes to vulnerability and showing Addie the affection she deserves. Addie learning that sometimes things have to give on her end to make this work for them was also a huge milestone. The imperfections on both characters made their relationship feel more authentic, and by the end I was completely invested. Addie and Vidar have officially set the standard for this series, and the glimpses we get of the Blackwood brothers and the love I already feel for them, have me anxiously waiting to read the brothers' books next.

Addie got away. She escaped everything tied to her family and built a life that was completely her own. Unfortunately, her brother's mistakes drag her right back into the chaos she worked so hard to leave behind.

Addie never took any of it lying down. She fought. She pushed back. She refused to let anyone decide her future for her. Her determination, stubbornness, and pure grit made her impossible not to root for. No matter what was thrown at her, she never lost herself.

Vidar, meanwhile, made me want to hug him and smack him upside the head at the same time. The man is stubborn, possessive, protective, and has enough trust issues to fill an entire warehouse. His entire life revolves around protecting his family, and those instincts don't magically disappear just because Addie walks into his world.

One of my favorite parts of this book wasn't even the romance. It was watching Addie try to adjust to the Blackwoods themselves. The way this family loves is completely different from anything she has ever known. They protect each other fiercely. They show up. They care. They fight for one another. Instead of feeling comforted by it, Addie often feels anxious because it is so foreign to her. Watching her slowly learn what it means to be part of a family like that was every bit as satisfying as watching the romance develop.

But Papa Blackwood? That man owned every scene he was in. Absolutely my favorite character. The way he treats his wife set the standard for every relationship in this family, and the way he immediately embraces Addie had me melting. Every time he appeared on the page, I knew I was going to love the scene.

The relationship between Addie and Vidar is messy, frustrating, emotional, and completely addictive. Their flaws make them feel real. Vidar's growth is slow, but that's what made it believable. Addie also learns that strength doesn't always mean handling everything alone and that sometimes accepting help isn't weakness. I received this as an ARC and am leaving this honest review voluntarily.

Istood in the hallway and let the chuckle come. I was going to have great fun making this woman heel.

🐺🖤 “Emotionally Damaged Wolves & Mafia Chaos? SIGN ME UP.” 🖤🐺

📚 REVIEW: Merciless Vow by Ines Johnson 📚

This book had me addicted before chapter 10 and honestly? I never recovered. 😮‍💨🔥

✨ Dark Mafia Romance
✨ Alpha Wolf Shifter
✨ Forced Marriage
✨ Slow Burn
✨ Paranormal Romance
✨ Possessive Hero
✨ Stubborn, Independent FMC

First of all, this was NOT your typical wolf shifter romance — and I loved that. The mafia elements mixed with the paranormal world created such a unique vibe, and the imagery throughout the book was incredible. I could picture every scene so clearly. 🖤

The FMC was one of my favorite parts of this story. She carries old ghosts from a traumatic past with a father who was mentally, emotionally, and physically abusive, but despite all of that, she is still SO strong. Even when her current circumstances mirrored parts of her past, she refused to completely break. I loved how stubborn and independent she stayed. 👏

And the MMC? The definition of possessive alpha energy. 🥵 He loves her deeply but refuses to let himself fully feel it, while she’s terrified to open herself up emotionally. The tension between them was EVERYTHING.

What I really appreciated was that their relationship didn’t magically fix itself overnight. Just when I thought they were finally going to kiss, make up, and move on… NOPE. Problems still existed. Feelings were messy. The emotional walls stayed real. And honestly? That made the story even better.

Also, the relationship between the pack brothers was so good. Their loyalty, tension, and bond added another layer to the story that made me want MORE from this world immediately. 🐺

By the end, I was desperately hoping extra chapters of their story would magically appear because I was NOT ready to leave these characters behind.

PLEASE tell me there are follow-up books because I need to go back into this world ASAP. 😭🔥

When anyone says supernatural organized crime, I'm all in. It's one of my favorite subgenres. Ines Johnson has given me the fix I need with Merciless Vow. It was incredible!

Addie is a powerhouse who's all fire. She's confident, capable, and brave, and has just been thrown to the wolves, both figuratively and literally. There's an arranged marriage, family drama, and a dominant alpha who is very tightly wound and lives on logic. The tension between Addie and Vidar was beautifully done. The attraction is unreal, and while they have some things in common, like their control issues, overall, their personalities clash. I would say the battle for control was like a cold war, but things were definitely hot. When that bowstring finally snapped... wow! I loved that Vidar saw Addie's worth from the start and that he loves her intelligence and fire. It just took him a while to get his head out of his... He was in such denial about his feelings until he couldn't ignore them anymore. It was perfection.

The plot was incredible. Of course, there was shifter politics, and the Ines did a good job with the organized crime aspect. It was a little softer version of OC than I expected. It mostly seemed like corporate (hostel) takeovers, but with wolves and some violence; nevertheless, I enjoyed it. The Blackwoods were delightful. For a mob family, they were surprisingly warm. Their family bond was incredibly strong, and while things weren't perfect right away, I was surprised by how welcoming they were to Addie. That's not to say the warning wasn't there, but they were way better than Addie's birth pack. The pages flew by. It only took me a day to finish. Merciless Vow wraps up Addie and Vidar's story (and thank gods, because I don't know if I could have handled a full series with them; the tension would kill me), but the series continues with the next Blackwood brother in Merciless Heir, and I can't wait!

Mafia. Forced marriage. Alpha wolf. Merciless Vow delivered all these delicious tropes wrapped up in one addictive paranormal romance. The first book in Ines Johnson’s Merciless Alpha series introduces Addie Vane, the daughter of a pack alpha who spent the last ten years building a life away from the controlling world she grew up in. That hard-earned independence is threatened when her younger brother steals six million dollars from the Blackwood pack, and the price for his life turns out to be Addie’s hand in marriage.

Vidar Blackwood is every bit as ruthless as his reputation suggests. As both a businessman and an alpha, he’s used to getting exactly what he wants. What begins as a cold business arrangement quickly becomes much more complicated as Addie discovers that Vidar isn’t the monster she expected. Their relationship develops through plenty of tension, stubborn clashes, and undeniable chemistry. I especially enjoyed how Addie refused to simply roll over and accept her circumstances. She challenged Vidar at every turn, which made their dynamic entertaining from beginning to end.

The romance is a slow burn with plenty of heat once things get moving. The forced-marriage trope can feel repetitive at times, but Johnson keeps things interesting with pack politics, family drama, and the constant push and pull between the main characters. Vidar’s possessive alpha tendencies will definitely appeal to readers who enjoy dominant heroes, while Addie’s determination prevents her from being overshadowed.

Merciless Vow was a fun and engaging start to the series. I enjoyed the characters, the romance, and the paranormal mafia atmosphere. If you’re a fan of alpha heroes, forced marriage romances, and werewolf stories with plenty of steam and tension, this one is worth picking up.

I received Merciless Vow for free. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

First of all thank you Grey’s Promotions for gifting me this ARC.

A Werewolf story that will have you cheering for both the independent she-wolf and the Flawed Alpha who is trying to protect her.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“A forced marriage. A fated bond. And an alpha wolf who will give her everything — except his heart.”

Merciless Vow by Ines Johnson absolutely delivered everything I want in a paranormal romance. Forced proximity, arranged marriage tension, possessive alpha energy, emotional damage, sizzling chemistry — this book had it all.

Addie Vane is forced into a marriage after her brother steals from the most powerful werewolf family in New York, and from the very beginning you can feel how trapped yet determined she is. I loved that Addie never lost herself. She wants independence, purpose, and the chance to use her skills instead of being treated like a fragile pawn.

Then there’s Vidar Blackwood… powerful, possessive, ruthless, and convinced the world bends to his will. Underneath all that dominance is a man deeply scarred by betrayal, which makes his need to protect and control Addie even more intense. He wants to keep her safe in an ivory tower — Addie would rather burn the tower down than stay there quietly.

The push and pull between these two was fantastic. Every interaction crackled with tension, banter, and emotional conflict. Their chemistry was scorching, with plenty of explicit heat woven perfectly into the story.

I loved the writing style, the addictive pacing, and the balance between dark romance and paranormal world-building. If you love possessive alpha heroes, arranged marriage romances, fated mates, and fierce heroines who refuse to obey orders, this one is definitely for you.

Thank you Grey's Promotions and Ines Johnson for the advanced readers copy of this book.
If you love dark mafia romance with a wolf shifter twist, Merciless Vow delivers.
This story blends forced marriage, pack politics, and a simmering enemies to lovers tension as two rival wolf packs attempt to settle a debt. You get a possessive alpha, a she wolf who refuses to be handled, and a world where power plays out in boardrooms.
One of my favorite elements is how the women in this book aren’t just strong, they’re the smartest people in the room. Our FMC is sharp, business minded, and genuinely good with numbers and problem solving. Her best friend has a sixth sense for calling out BS in a male dominated industry and knows exactly how to manipulate the men who underestimate her. And within the Blackwood pack, while the Alpha commands respect, it’s his wife, the true matriarch, who quietly runs the show and protects her family with wisdom.
The romance between the FMC and MMC is an enjoyable push and pull. They’re clearly drawn to each other from the start, but the tension builds until the stakes force them to confront what they actually mean to one another.
Overall, I loved the mafia meets wolf pack world, the Blackwood family dynamic, the building romance, the business intrigue, and the cast of characters. Even the villains. It’s a fast paced, entertaining read that kept me hooked.
My only wish is for more wolves. The human–wolf relationship is present, and there are a few great shift moments, plus some half shifts with claws and canines that I loved, but I wanted more of the full beast. Hopefully the next installments lean deeper into the shifter side.

***ARC received from author/Grey's Promotions in exchange for my honest review***

I'm fairly new to this genre, so it is taking a little bit of getting used to, but I really enjoyed this book.
I found the beginning a bit slow going, but fleshing out the characters before the juicy stuff helped me to understand them and their dynamic better.

Vidar was all ruthless power, calculating mind and family loyalty and Addie was a strong, clever badass FMC trying to pave her way in a world that very rarely felt within her control. Together, they were unstoppable.

There were some twists and turns (some of which I think could have been explored a bit more), which gave a good amount of suspense and led to some good character growth/realisations.

I liked that it wasn't a typical HEA, where everything was resolved and the result was sunshine and rainbows. There is still work to be done, a marriage needs work, compromise and determination. You can tell that this pair will continue to be explosive, challenging and bringing out the best in each other. That being said, it was a nice ending that left me feeling pleased :)

Tropes/what to Expect:
🐺 Alpha Wolf Shifter
🐺 Pack Dynamics
🐺 Dark Mafia Romance
🐺 Angsty Slow Burn
🐺 Forced Proximity
🐺 Arranged/Forced Marriage
🐺 Posessive MMC
🐺 Strong, Clever, Resilient Heroine
🐺 Spice

Although Magus is up next, I'm most looking forward to Gunnar's story, I think he will be one to watch and if his brother Vidar is anything to go by, he's going to fall in love HARD.

3.5⭐️'s from me and a big thanks to Ines and Grey's Promotions for allowing me to be an ARC reviewer :)

Addie & Vidar were definitely an interesting couple but in a way they really worked well.

Addie has spent most of her life trying to do whatever she could to get away from her father's pack, like working amongst humans. But she also had her little brother to think about to. And when said little brother does something not so smart against another incredibly powerful pack, she is the one who has to step in & pay for it.

Vidar was none too pleased to hear that he had been arranged to marry her to pay off what her brother did, but he took it surprisingly well, especially once he saw & met her.

But Vidar has a very closed off personality which makes reading him a little hard for Addie. And makes things more complicated when betrayals are a foot & trying to keep her father's pack away from them.

Unfortunately, she doesn't escape that & is taken by the pack she had originally been betrothed to & after Vidar's family saves her, they both have a bit of moment where all pretense is gone & they give in to their base instincts. I loved that for them & a part of me would've loved to see a bit more of their future, especially with how Vidar has promised himself & his father that he would work to show Addie exactly how he feels about.... give her his heart.

Definitely a book worth reading & I would definitely recommend it. I am curious how Magnus's story will pan especially after that sneak peek at the end.

Amazing job!

Thank you to The Author Agency and Ines Johnson for gifting me this ARC. Merciless Vow is a dual POV paranormal romance and is the first book in the Merciless Alphas series. It follows Addie who enters into a forced marriage to save her brother, and Vidar who would give her anything, except his heart.

The story was good, I did read this all in one sitting, but it was missing something. I loved the family bonds between the Blackwood Brothers and how easily they accepted Addie and Elias into their fold. The story was incredibly fast paced and because of that Addie and Vidar's relationship felt forced. I would have liked to see it evolve a bit more before all the action went down. It didn't really feel like there was a lot of chemistry between the two. I was confused about what was going on at times and felt that there was a lot of telling and not so much showing. I feel like if the relationships between the MC's had more substance, this book would have been 4 or 5 star read.

I enjoyed the epilogue a lot and it makes me want to read the next book!

3 out of 5 stars
1 out of 5 spicy peppers
Memorable line: “If you leave, it will destroy me, Addie.”
Read this if you like: Paranormal romance, forced marriage, forced proximity, found family, HEA, he falls first, kidnapping, knotting, werewolves
F*ck appears: 39
Spicy chapters: 27, 37

Merciless Vow started off a little slower for me, but once the story found its rhythm, I was completely hooked. The push and pull between Addie and Vidar was packed with angst, frustration, chemistry, and so much simmering tension that I could practically feel it through the pages.

Addie was such a refreshing FMC. She’s fiercely, intelligent, and determined to build her own place in the corporate world despite the trauma she escaped years ago. Even after her brother’s betrayal forces her into an arranged marriage with Vidar Blackwood, she refuses to lose herself in the process. I loved that she never let go of her stubborn streak or independence, even when everything around her tried to reshape her life.

And Vidar? Oh, this man tested my patience. 😤 He’s possessive, controlling, protective, and absolutely convinced he’s giving Addie everything she could possibly need… except the one thing she truly wants: his heart. Watching him treat her like someone who constantly had to “prove herself” made me want to shake him more than once. But when Addie finally turns the tables and basically asks, “When are YOU going to prove yourself to ME?” YES. That moment hit perfectly.

What made this romance so addictive was that neither character was perfect. Vidar has walls built sky high, and even by the HEA, you know he still has a long journey ahead learning how to truly love and show affection. But honestly? That made their relationship feel more real and satisfying.

Addie and Vidar have officially set the standard for this series, and now I’m desperate for the brothers’ books because the Blackwood family dynamic has me completely invested.

🐺 Angst-filled
🐺 Emotional slow burn
🐺 Forced proximity & arranged marriage
🐺 Protective alpha energy
🐺 Strong, resilient heroine

Merciless Vow is a gripping start to what feels like it’s going to be an unforgettable wolf shifter saga, and I’m already counting down the days for the next book.

📌 Voluntary review. No compensation just one reader completely pulled into the Blackwood Pack.

My mood really said “mafia romance but make it supernatural” and Ines Johnson said “bet.” This book is the perfect storm of claws, crime, and unhinged alpha energy.

Vidar? Oh he’s not just an alpha‑hole — he’s the blueprint. The man walks on page radiating “I will ruin your life and you might just thank me for it” energy. He’s feral, territorial, morally questionable, and I respect him for it.

Addie? This girl is a steel‑spined she‑wolf who refuses to be made less than by a man who could probably bench‑press a small car. She walks into an arranged marriage like “I fear no man,” and then proceeds to push Vidar’s buttons like it’s her full‑time job. I love her. I would die for her. I would let her lead a pack and I’d follow.

And the character development? Chef’s kiss.Watching these two go from forced proximity strangers to “I would burn down the world for you” soul‑bonded chaos gremlins is the exact emotional arc that keeps us up at 3AM whisper‑screaming into our pillows.

You finishing this book and immediately declaring you’ll read more Ines Johnson is the correct life choice. At least that’s my life choice. This is the way. This is the path. This is the wolf‑mafia‑romance pipeline.

Mafia, Arranged Marriage, Werewolf Shifters
Good story, fast-paced plot, medium spice
Addie is a strong, independent, and intelligent woman who escaped her abusive father 10 years ago. I love that this FMC didn't really give up her stubborn streak. While she still had to give up some parts of her life to help her brother out of his mistake. She made sure she was still true to herself in the process. Vidar is a stubborn egotistical male, not necessarily a bad one but he has built up strong walls around his heart that only his family have the privilege of living in. Vidar's marriage to Addie is arranged to repay a debt when Addie's brother was caught stealing from Vidar's family. Sometimes, I wanted to smack him upside the head for how he treated Addie like the enemy. We get it, there are people looking to take their family down, but his need to make Addie prove. herself got under my skin. Until finally, Addie pulls the rug out and pretty much says "when are you going to prove yourself to me". Vidar has a long way to go, even in their HEA, since he'll be spending his life learning how to show Addie affection.

Merciless Vow was such an addictive paranormal romance. The mix of arranged marriage, pack politics, and possessive alpha energy made it impossible to put down. Addie and Vidar had intense chemistry from the start, but what really made the story work was how strong-willed Addie remained throughout the book. She wasn’t just there to fall in love — she challenged Vidar constantly, which made their dynamic feel layered and believable.
Vidar definitely gives the classic ruthless alpha hero vibe, but there’s enough vulnerability beneath the surface to keep him from feeling one-dimensional. The slow-burn tension, emotional push-and-pull, and high-stakes family drama kept the pacing strong the entire time. I also liked that the paranormal elements and mafia-style power dynamics blended together naturally instead of feeling overdone.
The book leans heavily into dark romance and possessive romance tropes, so it won’t be for everyone, but if you enjoy fated mates, forced proximity, alpha wolves, and emotionally intense romance, this one delivers.
Overall, a dramatic, steamy, and entertaining read that left me wanting the next book immediately.

In this book you are shown a world that doesn't know shifters exist. They walk among us, work beside us and we don't even know.

Addie left home to get away from her abusive controlling father, and forge her own path. The only thing that could ever make her come back home is the love she has for her bother.

When he is threatened and her hand is forced into doing something she doesn't want to do, she does it for him.

It took me a while to get warmed up to this story. There was a lot of high handed treatment that I just could not get my mind to wrap around. It felt like a contract marriage and she would be given her freedom, but then the rules instantly changed and everything she owned and all of her choices were instantly taken away from her. And it was no longer a contract marriage.

It was a very quick read a lot happened in a very short amount of time. It felt like fated mates, but then again like a push pull I hate you but I still want you type of situation.

Not a bad book, but it did feel rushed and left a lot of things feeling like they could have been handled better.

Thank you The Author Agency and Ines Johnson for letting me read an early copy of this book.

I loved Merciless Vows it has all the feels that kept me up some late nights reading. I loved the plotline and the characters although there was one I wanted to throttle in the beginning because of what he was caught doing. From Theft to a Forced Marriage and Hidden Secrets. This author made a beautiful world for me to dive into headfirst.
The FMC is as beautiful as she is smart and she stands up for herself when she is feeling caged. I love how she protected her best friend and didn't want to see her getting hurt in her business. The FMC is courageous even when she is in a dangerous situation.
The MMC is handsome and very arrogant when it comes towards the FMC. He has a hard time displaying how much to share with his new bride and even his love. With time I came to really love how he protected the FMC even after she stood up to him and told him her true feelings and how she was treated in her family.
So, if you love a Strong Courageous FMC, A Handsome Arrogant MMC, Forced Marriages, Heated Spicy Scenes and Dark Mafia Wolf Shifters then you are going to enjoy Merciless Vow.

I love a wolf shifter romance, and the mafia aspect was so fun too. This book ticked all my boxes for a shifter romance, with a possessive alpha wolf mmc and a fmc who will not let herself be bossed around. The plot was pretty intense, I love an arranged marriage where they seem to hate each other, but he’s been down bad since he met her. It was a fun read with so much tension and many plot twists. I loved watching the bond form between them as he learned to trust again becuase he couldn’t bear the thought of her leaving. But as much as I enjoyed this book, I’ve read about a bunch of Alpha holes with trust issues who are healed by their girlfriends and this book didn’t particularly stand out to me. I tried very hard to love Vadir, he’s not bad but there are some things about him I’m not super into. His family was such fun though, and I can’t wait for the next book with Addie’s human friend Nell. I loved Addie and her quick intelligence, and she was the highlight of the book for me. I give this a 4/5

This review is based on an ARC read. 4.3! I had a great time reading this shifter book from the Merciless Alphas series. There's just something about a powerful FMC that won't give in right away and even when she does, she's still sassy. I will always love that in an FMC and Addie Vane is no exception. She's beauty, she's grace, she's whip smart and always up for a challenge. The challenge? Vidar Blackwood. A MMC just as smart and powerful, a match in every sense of the word. The two have been placed into an arranged marriage by their families, but neither knows what they're truly in for and it is an insane battle of the wills between the two.
It's got spice, humor, and action. Just what you need from a mafia shifter book. I loved the way Ines developed the characters and the locations in this book. There was an even flow to the writing that never made me want to pause reading. And so I didn't. I'm looking forward to what I hope is delving into the other Blackwood brothers love lifes in the next books, and maybe also Addie's brother Elias.

Absolutely loved reading the forced union of Vidar and Addie! They are both insanely smart. Addie has been running from her past and who she is, until her father makes her come home to save her brother! Addie has made a name for her self! She doesn't have to cower to anyone in her job. She ran away with nothing. Vidar is always trying to make the noise in his head stop by using human women. Vidar's parents make him marry Addie as apart of a contract and to wipe the debt Addie's brother incurred! Vidar has met his match in Addie, he thinks he can break her and make her heel. He's in for a rude awakening! I love the relationship that develops between these characters and becomes love! How Vidar learns that physical items isn't how to express your feelings, but through other means! The Blackwoods' parents raised their children right! I can't wait to see what happens between Magnus and Nell!

"Thank you Grey's Promotions for the ARC. This is my hones review.

It's been a minute since I read a shifter romance and this one was so good! After her brother steals $6 million from a rival pack, Addie agrees to marry the Alpha's son to spare her brothers life. She ran from the wolf world when she was 18 and while she finds herself back, she wont be a submissive wife.

Addie was such a strong FMC and I loved her growth and character arc. I also loved how Vidar, the MMC was so tough and clueless about women. The burn for this one was slow, but was worth it!

One thing I would have liked to see is just a bit more development from the characters and plot. I think some parts could have been flushed out just a bit. That being said, I will absolutely be continuing with the series!

It's dark-adjacent, and has mafia-vibes without being too graphic or intense for people who are newer to the genre.

I completely enjoyed this book and finished it in just two sittings! Addie Vane is a smart, hard-working heroine who only wants to be included in the corporate finance world and computer systems (of which I understand littke to nothing!) She has worked hard to prove herself over the past decade of Harvard and then a specialty firm. She and her best friend Nell work the hardest if anyone in the firm, always putting in he most work and rarely getting the credit due. She left behind pack life long ago to fit in with the corporate human world. But when Addie's brother gets into trouble with a rival pack, she agrees to a quick marriage to save him and restore their family's honor. Vidal Blackwood, her groom, is just as smart and hardworking, although the two struggle to see each orher clearly for much of the book. Old fueds, pride, and assumptions cause tons of trouble. If sleep wasn’t necessary, I would have read Merciless Vows by Ines Johnson in one sitting. I was completely hooked from the very beginning, and it’s such a fast-paced read that the pages flew by.

Merciless Vows is a mafia wolf shifter romance filled with arranged marriage and enemies-to-lovers tropes. Addie escaped her pack and her abusive alpha father to build a life and career in the human world. But when her brother Elias gets tangled up with a ruthless family, Addie is dragged back into the dangerous world she fought so hard to leave behind. To repay his debt, she’s forced into an arranged marriage with one of the family’s sons.
Thrown back into a world of secrets, power, and submission, Addie no longer knows who she can trust.

I was so engrossed in this book that I had to force myself to put it down just to get some sleep — otherwise, I would have stayed up all night to finish it.

At eighteen Addie escaped her packs clutches, and has spent the last decade working and living among the humans. When she learns that her younger brother has stolen from the most powerful pack in New York, it's unfortunately Addie who is forced to pay the price—either marry Vidar Blackwood or her brother dies.

Vidar is everything she despises and Addie refuses to lose herself to him, especially when he proves to be just as possessive and ruthless as she assumed him to be. When Vidar pushes, Addie pushes back harder, but the more time spent together also has sparks flying between the two.

Overall, I really enjoyed Merciless Vow. It did take a minute to hook me, but once things picked up I ate this up!

This was so, so good. I loved the mafia component and how well it was blended with the paranormal part of the narrative. I also like the dynamics of the overall storyline. The FMC and MMC were perfectly matched for each other. As a matter of fact I feel like they balanced out one another, that they had their own qualities that made them who they were. The tension between these characters, their loyalty that was eventually followed by their bond added to the story giving it another layer. The pacing is addictive. And the world building is done nicely. This is a definitely worth the read. Thank you to the author agency and the author for a copy of this. All opinions are my own and freely expressed.

Ines Johnson has absolutely blown me away with "Merciless Vow," the first book in her new "Merciless Alphas" saga! This MF shifter romance is an absolute triumph. Johnson's talent for weaving intricate details into her storytelling shines through, making for a completely immersive reading experience. Vidar and Addie are such a captivating couple, and they've set the bar incredibly high for this series. I truly hope we get to see more of them in the upcoming books focusing on Vidar's brothers. "Merciless Vow" is the perfect start to what promises to be an unforgettable saga, and I'm already counting down the days until the next installment!

Listen. Sometimes you just need an emotionally constipated alpha wolf to absolutely wreck your peace in the best way possible, and this book delivered.

Addie is smart, stubborn, gorgeous, and trusts approximately no one.

Vidar is an uptight financial mastermind who’s used to getting his way and immediately short circuits the second this woman challenges him.

The tension? Feral. The chemistry? A five alarm fire. Me? Kicking my feet like a rabid raccoon at 2am!

Fast paced, spicy, possessive werewolf mafia chaos with a forced marriage trope that absolutely knew the assignment.

Also… Magnus’ story better get in my hands immediately because I am READY!

Ekkk… Yes, give me more! If you're into fated mates, forced marriage, possessive alpha guys, and lots of tension, you’re gonna love this.

Addie gets pushed into marriage because of her brother’s screw-up. And Vidar’s all in for the marriage due his loyalty to his fam.

Their relationship’s full of sparks, power plays, and emotional growth. Addie does not back down, and Vidar’s is our morally gray alpha though on the outside but totally obsessed on the low. The back and forth had be sucked in.

With pack politics, family drama, and romance, there’s more than just heat — it’s an eventful ride.

Absolutely phenomenal shifter romance with a badass FMC. Addie was a strong FMC and never backed down. Vidar slowly grew on me and by the end I was in love with him. Forced proximity and arranged marriage gave this couple quite some angst and it was delicious. I'm extremely excited for this series and loved all the characters. This was fast paced and kept me on the edge of my seat, I thought things were resolved and then realized there was still more book to go which made me a little nervous. Thankfully this had a HEA and also justice was served to the characters to needed that karma.

This is a slow burn, arranged marriage, wolf shifter romance. It starts off kind of slow, but it definitely picks up. I enjoyed the way the FMC brought the sass and rebellion to prove that she was her own person and I enjoy reading the MMC struggle to figure out how to treat his wife, arranged marriage or not. The first 5 chapters are just a warm up to the finale. I gave it the star rating that I did because while it a good read, the way it ended left me wanting more. But overall, a good book with a heart warming enemies to lovers vibe.

Thank you to The Author Agency and the author, Ines Johnson for an ARC of this. This was a great start to an interconnected series and I’m really looking forward to continuing. It was definitely slow to start, but then it picks up and that’s where it really hooked me in. Once it picked up, it was a quick read, and I just found myself flying through the book. Addie and Vidar had a push and pull relationship, especially at the start because it was a marriage of convenience, but then they started to have some really good chemistry as they were thrown in a relationship.
