This was grim, intimate, and strangely hypnotic.
Soil Me leans hard into its themes of death, devotion, and control, and it works because it never softens them. The romance is not sweet. It is consuming, uncomfortable, and tangled up in forces far bigger than the characters themselves. If you like your love stories a little monstrous, this delivers.
Isaac is the highlight for me. His role as a mortician creates this eerie contrast between preservation and desire. Watching him unravel around Lenoria felt both disturbing and fascinating. Lenoria’s role as the chosen bride adds a tragic layer. She feels caught between agency and fate, which fits perfectly with the ritualistic backbone of the story.
The writing has a damp, almost claustrophobic quality that suits the tone beautifully. Every scene feels steeped in soil and shadow. The horror elements are not just background noise. They shape the emotional core of the story.
My only reason for not giving a full five stars is that I wanted just a little more. More time with the characters, more exploration of the god and the ritual. But for a short piece, it leaves a strong mark.
If you are into cult horror, possession romance, and devotion that crosses into obsession, this is absolutely worth picking up.

Such a great pallet cleanser! Pandora never fails when you're needing something to hook you and capture attention! I seen her teasers for this and couldn't wait to dive in and once I saw that it was erotic horror I was sold! I've never read a book like this and it was refreshing to be able to read something new! I never could tell where this book was going and had so much fun with every page! I definitely wouldn't be mad if there was a book two 👀 10/10 recommend!!🖤

Received as an ARC from the author.

Soil Me is a hauntingly beautiful tale about a cult, a mysterious destiny, and a love that echoes through stories of both. Following the brief love story between Isaac and Lenoria, Soil Me leaves the reader with more questions than answers—the novella can be read in one sitting and leave you wanting more.

Though the pacing is quick and some of the story is still veiled in mystery, the story gives the reader a sense of the eerie while also providing a love you find believable. Highly recommended for readers who like their horror on the light side, quick reads, and fascinating backstories that are yet to be revealed.

ARC READ

I’ll admit, I wasn't entirely sure after the first two pages, but once I got a few chapters deep, I couldn’t put it down. It has that addictive, "just one more page" quality.

The vibe is consistently creepy, just to be honest, but in a good way that drew you in. Pandora Cross excels at building a sense of unease that fits the horror-romance genre perfectly. It feels dark, intimate, and unsettling all at once.

Because the book is a short read, the pacing is lightning-fast. However, this brevity did lead to some confusion regarding the cult’s true intent and overall back story. I found myself wanting just a bit more detail to ground the mystery, as the lack of context made some of the plot points harder to track.

Despite wanting more depth in the history of the world, the book has incredible potential. It’s a 4-star read because it stays true to the author’s description: it's short, mysterious, and deeply atmospheric.

If you are looking for a very quick, minimal spicy, horror read.. this one is for you!

Thank you to Pandora for an ARC!

This was a haunting story about a cult dedicated to the resurrection of the Hollow Bridegroom, and I loved every single moment of it! The emotional turmoil our MMC, Isaac, experiences throughout this one had me in a chokehold. Forced to confront how to proceed when the cult’s sacrifice/FMC, Lenoria, approaches him in an undead state calling him by his name, Isaac must decide between ending her or accepting her as his and fulfilling the cult’s prophecy to complete the resurrection. The pacing of this one was quick and keep me locked in from page one. The scientific aspects of Isaac‘s career as a mortician had me fascinated. The spice was *chef’s kiss* as well. I think this was the first book I’ve read with spice in a morgue, and I was here for it. Overall, this was such a fun read and I hope we get to see more about the cult in the future!

I don’t know how Pandora does it, but this book had the right amount of spice and story to make the perfect combination. This fast paced novella... was absolutely mind blowing I literally gobbled it up. Pandora Cress always has good stories but this one totally took the cake and I wanted more. I really need more. A cult in town, the sinister rituals, all of it pulls you in and doesnt let you go even after that very last page. And let’s not forget to mention that ending. It left me wondering what was going to happen next, and had me wishing for more. The main characters of the story have a fantastic connection even within the short amount of time they have together. Add this to your tbr you won’t be disappointed

I don't know how Pandora Cress does it! She manages to fit so much story (and spice 😉) in the smallest amount of pages!
I went into Soil Me completely blind, and I was taken on some ride 🤭 definitely read your trigger warnings! The FMC is a ritual sacrifice who is buried alive and the MMC is the Mortician tasked with digging her up to preserve her body... READ IT!!!!!! In the 60 pages I fell in love with both the characters and definitely questioned some things about myself, exactly what I expect from Pandora at this point 😂 that ending was so ominous!! Im praying that we get more from this story soon!

I really enjoy getting to be part of Pandora’s ARC Team because her books are typically short and it doesn’t feel like a huge, rushed commitment. Her books usually don’t take longer than 1-2 hours for me to read, with this one taking me only about 20 minutes. Her dark-erotic genre’d books are very different than the historical fiction or romantasy I typically prefer but I still can never put them down 🤐🙈

Usually with short stories I am left satisfied, but this one actually left me wanting a bit more! I need to know a full background of the cult and how the Bridegroom and the town came to be. I really enjoyed this and can’t wait for her next to come my way!

That Ending?! I’m Still Processing 😳

Besties… I need you to understand something immediately... this was a full-on “what am I reading?!” experience… and I could NOT look away. "Soil Me" by Pandora Cress is a dark, twisted, obsessive little nightmare in the best way possible. We’re talking erotic horror that leans all the way into cult rituals, possession, and devotion that feels equal parts intoxicating and unholy.

Lenoria as the sacrificial FMC? Haunting. Isaac as the mortician MMC? Morally grey in a way that had me side-eyeing myself for being intrigued. 👀 The third-person narration somehow made everything feel even more eerie and detached… like you’re watching something you shouldn’t be witnessing... but you stay anyway.

And listen… this story is SHORT, but it HITS. It’s intense, it’s disturbing, it’s addictive. I was literally whispering “oh no…” while flipping pages faster. And that ending?? EXCUSE ME?? I did NOT see that twist coming and it left me sitting there like I need more! 😬

Check your triggers because this is not for the faint of heart... but if you love dark, culty, mind-bending reads… add this to your TBR immediately.🫣

Soil me ARC review

I’m a sucker for a cult book. This was a fast novella about Lenoria, who was raised within the cult with her future predetermined, and Isaac, the mortician who is to preserves bodies yet falls for one instead.

The third person narration gave this haunting telling that made the ending that much better. It’s as if we are getting a look into something we aren’t supposed to know.

My favorite part was the writings of the literature used by the cult. It gave insight into the inner workings of the teaching and ideas of what the cult is and their goal. If you love dark, rituals and obsession - this book is for you!

Pandora has once again delivered an enthralling erotic horror short story. In this gripping tale, we delve into a small town plagued by a sinister cult that sacrifices young women to their bridegroom. The plot thickens as we uncover the intricate connection between Isaac and this dark secret. The story is utterly addictive, leaving readers eagerly turning the pages. The unexpected ending leaves them questioning the true nature of the events that unfold. I eagerly anticipate a follow-up, as I am eager to learn more about these captivating characters.

I received this as an ARC, and Soil Me completely pulled me in from the start. It’s a fast-paced short story that I genuinely didn’t want to put down—I ended up reading it in one sitting. The pacing keeps you hooked right away, and just when you think you know where it’s going, it surprises you. I definitely did not expect the ending, which made it even more memorable. A quick but engaging read that leaves an impression.

This was a super quick, easy read. The beginning had me laughing and intrigued on what was going on in this town. Then things started getting intense, plot thickening, and you were waiting to find out what decision they'd make. The end left me with a lot of questions and felt a little rushed. I definitely wish this novella was a tad longer so we could have some more details on the goings on and what happened to his mother, but it was still a fun read!

This was honestly such a good little story!

From the very beginning, this story had me caught! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this short little novella. It almost gives off the vibes similar to the Corpse Bride, mixed with a little bit of possession. I honestly wish there was more to the story!

I loved the ending, because you never see what’s coming!

Quick read before bed and I found it engaging and interesting. I think this would have done well as a full novel. The town, the ritual, the gate, the mortician, all of it was mysterious and made me want more. It was a bit rushed but for 60 pages it’s expected, which is why I think a longer version would serve this story well, especially if they go harder on the erotic horror theme. Spice level is a 1.

Recommend if youre in the mood for a quick, mysterious, paranormal/occultist palate cleanser

This was weird and kind of unhinged in a good way. I think this would be a super amazing read if it was longer and went into more details. The diary entries and cult beliefs were great chapter intros. They were my favorite. I was surprised by the ending. I wasn’t expecting it. It’s not really a twist, just some crazy happenings.

Thank you Pandora Cress for the ARC!!!

Books like this make me think that this stuff really happens. The idea has to come from somewhere.

I will never live in a very small town, because I don’t wanna be “the bride”.

That being said, this was a very good book, and you can never outrun your fate. This is a short read that you will not be able to put down.

Another wild read from Pandora!🤭 This novella was fast paced and kept me on my toes. I loved the eerie chapter intros that gave some background on The Hollow Bridegroom.
Soil Me left me with so many questions, but in a “I need more” kind of way. I feel like this is great for horror lovers looking for a fun and very short novella.

Soil Me is a haunting short story that lingers long after the final line—offering just enough to satisfy, while leaving an unsettling ache for more. It follows the chilling presence of a cult, a family drawn unwillingly into its grasp, and a couple forced to confront the cost of survival, who ultimately have to decide thier own destiny.
