13 Days in My New House is a dark psychological thriller romance. It is the first interconnected standalone novel in the Vows and Secrets Series and can be read independently.

Hi there! My name is Roksolana, and I write dark, twisted psychological stories you cannot predict. Nobody has ever guessed my endings. Not once. Ruining your sleep schedule with psychological mind games and dark romance is basically my job at this point. If you want stories that leave you shattered at 2 AM, pick your next read from me. I was born in a small town in Ukraine and raised by my mother before moving to a beautiful Italian town, a place I still love to visit every year with my family. While I am a full-time photographer and a mom, writing is my greatest passion. My journey began with a personal diary, and those entries became the inspiration for the Luna’s Diaries series. When I’m not writing or behind the lens, I enjoy reading, playing the piano, practicing illustration, and staying active through fitness. I currently live in New York with my family.
13 days in my new house has me a chokehold from the very beginning with how you know the ending but have no clue how you get there. Then you add in this combination of dark romance and thriller story that at times you are just reading about their daily routine but it creates so much suspense just waiting for for it all to blow up. The author does a great job keeping you on the edge of my sit just waiting for any more information. I have never read a book with such a unreliable narrator and knowing it but also questioning what is truthful or not. This book was such a unique take on the dark romance genre with how it how many elements of it but went deeper on the connection that others and loved some of thriller additions! Buckle up for a crazy ride in just 13 days of story!
The obsession! The passion! The secrets! The first page opens with a shocking revelation, and it's just a wild rollercoaster from there. The story immediately drew me in and refused to let go. I was absolutely hooked!
The FMC, Rhea, is the poster person for unreliable narrator. The entire time I was asking myself - Is she crazy? Is her husband, Paul, a sociopath? What actually is going on? And with every single bread crumb I thought I was following, I still did not see that twist ending coming! I was completely shocked when things started falling into place. My coworkers were watching me read and were like, "Summer, you good?" Honestly, I don't know if I am.
This is not my usual kind of novel - sometimes an excess of spicy scenes bore me - but I have enjoyed other books by the same author. I am so glad that I decided to give it a chance! The spice never felt like too much or unnecessary. Instead, it aided in showing the psychological unraveling of our MCs. Roksolana Lebid is quickly becoming an auto buy author.
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ All the spice. To be completely honest it was way out of my norm/comfort zone. I don’t read much spicy stuff and this book had A LOT! I loved all of Roksolana’s prior books and thought I’d give it a go! The storyline was good. The thriller part kept me on my toes. By the end I was rooting for the villain(s)! Once you read it you’ll understand.
I read this as a chapter a day book with some friends during October and let me just tell you, I have zero clue where this was going at any time and I honestly really dug that!
One word : WOW! Just when you think you "might" know what is going on, I can promise, you don't! This book kept me guessing from the first page. It is written so eloquently and poetically and hauntingly dark. This is what I think of when I think of dark romance. Enough spice, but it never overshadowed the story. It's a haunting story of possessive love and devotion that makes you question literally everything. LOVE LOVE LOVE this story!!!
Book Review ARC ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 13 Days in My New House by Roksolana Lebid Published: August 4, 2026
Well… I genuinely don’t know what the hell I just read.
For reasons that are still being investigated by several concerned professionals, my dark and twisted little mind was inexplicably drawn to this book. It didn’t grab me immediately. It crept up on me.
And then came the horror.
Yes, some of that horror involved the sheer amount of physical and sexual activity happening on these pages. There was so much of it that I briefly wondered if I had accidentally wandered into an entirely different genre.
But somewhere underneath all that? Secrets.
Words carefully chosen. Words deliberately left unsaid. Tiny details that made me uncomfortable enough to want to put the book down… but curious enough to pick it right back up.
And THAT was my problem.
For the first time in what feels like forever, my inner reading gremlin — the one who normally sinks its teeth into a book and refuses to let go until the last page — actually had to take a break.
I had to put it down. Breathe. Process. Question my life choices.
I even considered giving up. But apparently the born psychopath and chosen sociopath lurking in this story had other plans, because somehow I ended up right back in those woods with them.
By the halfway point, I wasn’t just watching from the shadows anymore. I had become a shadow. A shadow in the woods. A shadow in the house.
An increasingly concerned little shadow that needed answers.
And for once, I genuinely didn’t know the whole truth. I had suspicions, sure. My brain was throwing theories around like a detective who had consumed far too much caffeine. But I needed to know everything.
I’m stopping there because this is absolutely a book you need to experience without me accidentally ruining the twisted little journey for you.
This is dark. It’s uncomfortable. It’s psychologically messy. It goes places that will absolutely make some readers nope themselves straight out of the woods.
And yes, there are enough graphic intimate scenes to make me question whether I accidentally signed up for a genre I wasn’t emotionally prepared for.
So no, this is not for readers who want their romance wrapped in a pink bow while tiny blue Smurfs shit purple glitter around the happily-ever-after.
This is for my fellow unhinged readers who enjoy dark, twisted psychological mind-rot, questionable people, uncomfortable situations, secrets, and the occasional WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL AM I READING?
Personally, I have limits when it comes to the romance/sexual side of things, which is why I’m landing at 4.5 Unable-to-escape-the-woods stars
Thank you, Roksolana and BookSprout, for this experience.
I’ll be scheduling my therapy sessions accordingly.
This was an absolute banger and was nothing like what I was expecting. This story had me in a chokehold and I read it in one sitting. This is a thrilling, suspenseful, dark romance. Every time I thought I knew what direction we were heading in, the story would take a turn! And when the plot twist finally comes and you think you have it figured out, nope... because here comes another plot twist. And then a whole new twist with the ending. The only thing that left me slightly confused and I can't stop thinking about it, is how did the other people that she met at the "supposed" company dinner fit into all this. What exactly do they know? They gave off the impression that they knew a lot about Paul, but how much did they truly know. This is the first time I have read characters with a true love/hate relationship. The tension between them is so intense, yet their chemistry is off the charts. They are completely obsessed with each other and can't live without each other, but that IS the problem here. This one is getting bumped to my top 5 list this year because this story is stuck in my head and I cannot stop thinking about it. Roksolana did an amazing job with the writing in this story. It's detailed without being boring and she does a great job at keeping the reader glued to the pages with the pacing and the twists. This is a must read!!! You just have to.
13 Days in my New House introduces married couple Rhea and Paul. Paul and Rhea first meet at a bookstore where he asks her for recommendations. Instead of listening to what she recommends, he takes the books she’s holding. Ones she wrote. Moving into their new house in Connecticut, they face an intense obsession, a ticking clock, and a forest that always seems to be watching. Set over the course of 13 days, Rhea tries to figure out why exactly Paul brought her to this new house and what secrets it might hold.
“why are you here?” “you show the bull red and ask why he runs in your direction?”
I enjoyed the mystery aspect of 13 Days in my New House. I never could quite figure out which direction this book was going to take and I was shocked at the plot twist! Paul’s chapter was an intriguing and eye opening POV switch that I really enjoyed! This book was full of intense gripping moments. Overall, I really enjoyed 13 Days in my New House!
13 Days in My New House was dark, different, and definitely unpredictable. There were several twists throughout the story that kept me guessing, but that ending? I genuinely did not see it ending that way!
One thing that really stood out to me was the spice. The intimate scenes were detailed, and there was certainly no shortage of heat throughout the pages. If you're looking for a book that doesn't shy away from the steamy side of things, this one delivers.
That said, I did find parts of the story somewhat repetitive, especially when Rhea was describing her feelings for Paul. I understood how she felt pretty early on, but the book kept circling back to it so often that I started wondering if she was trying to convince the readers—or herself. Because of that, Rhea was a little difficult for me to connect with at times.
Overall, though, I enjoyed how strange and unpredictable this story was. It kept me questioning what was really going on, and the twists—especially the one on day 13—made the ride worth it. A solid 4-star read for me!
13 Days in My New House is a masterclass in claustrophobic tension. Roksolana Lebid traps you in an isolated Connecticut estate with a ticking clock, a deeply unreliable narrator, and a husband who is as terrifyingly protective as he is enigmatic. The 13-day countdown structure makes the pacing breakneck. I couldn't tear myself away from the twisted, toxic symbiosis between Rhea and Paul. It completely blurs the line between a psychological thriller and a dark, noir romance, asking the ultimate question: Who is the real monster here?If you love highly atmospheric, slow-burn psychological thrillers that leave you feeling suffocated in the best way possible, drop everything and read this! It's Dark, messy, and intensely gripping. You won't look at a secluded house in the woods the same way again.
I have to admit, I was hooked literally from the dedication. Because yes, one can totally fall in love with a book based on that alone.
I did not want to put this down. I did not want to stop reading. I spent the entire time attempting to figure it all out. I wanted to know Paul and Rhea’s secrets just as badly as they did.
And holy plot twist. This was already a 5/5 for me, but that plot twist, cemented those stars in concrete.
Some books are good. Some books are great. And then there’s ones like this. Ones that stay with you after you turn that last page. This is easily one of the best books I have read this year, and I already know I will be making room on my bookshelf for the second it is released.
“I killed my husband because he wanted to kill me first.” 👀 This dark romance/psychological thriller was absolutely addictive. Rhea and Paul leave New York for a secluded estate in Connecticut, only to find themselves trapped in a dangerous game where dark secrets, lies, and obsession begin to unravel. The tension was nonstop, the cat and mouse chase through the house and woods kept me on edge, and the twists had me questioning everything. And the spice? 🥵🔥 Top Tier! 👏🏻 Sexy, suspenseful, and completely unputdownable. “He owns my breath, and I own his soul.” This is a must read if you love twisted romances with psychological thrills. Absolutely ate this book up!!!
I absolutely devoured this book in less than 5 hours. From the very first page, I was completely hooked and questioning everything. Every time i thought I had the story figured out, another twist would have me second guessing who the real monster was, and that ending completely blindsided me.
The tension between Rhea and Paul was incredible, and the isolated setting made the suspense more intense. The spice was definitely spicing, but it never overshadowed the plot, it only added to the obsession and psychological unraveling of the characters. If you love dark romance with psychological thriller vibes, shocking twists and a story that keeps you guessing until the very end, this one is a must read!!!
Holy plot twist, Roksolana takes us on an emotional roller coaster all over again in her newest book. Paul and Rhea, newly married and just moving into their isolated Connecticut estate in the woods, take us on a seductive and tension-filled ride. This had me wondering who was the real monster with every twist and turn of the story. Just when you think you have everything figured out, she slaps you with a plot twist you don’t see coming! I can’t wait to read what she writes next! If you love dark romance with a hell of a plot, you need to read this!
This book took me through so many different possibilities of what was waiting for me. Paul being a serial killer and having a type of victim was not on my bingo card, but Rhea/claire also being a killer and so deeply obsessed with Paul made this book so powerful. The point of obsession and love blurring the lines. Made this very deeply compelling. I originally thought maybe he had a secret twin, but it was just him losing control over himself when he wanted to snap her neck. Them having a happy ending wasn’t on my bingo card but I’m glad they did! 10/10 read for me!

Listen… this book had me stressed. 😂 I kept changing my mind about the FMC (Rhea) & the MMC (Paul). Just when I thought I knew what was going on, the story would send me in a whole different direction.
The author did a great job building the tension without relying on nonstop action. It was one of those books where the anticipation kept me flipping pages because I needed answers.
By the time I got to the end, all I could do was sit there like… “Wait… WHAT?” 🤯
If you like books that keep your mind working and have you questioning everybody, I’d definitely recommend this one.
At first, I had some issues getting into the book, in all honesty. The writing and timing of the story threw me off a bit, but it maintained my attention regardless. The further in I got, the better it got. And then that plot twist?!?! I couldn’t put this book down! Genius.. The author said dark romance wasn’t her genre but wanted to give it a shot- and man did she do it! Her construction of psychological thrillers is also amazing! I can’t wait to read more about Rhea and Paul!
Omg! Psychopath Thriller indeed. ROKSOLANA has done it again! Taken me into a whirl wind of an Emotional Roller Coaster. Newly weds Rhea and Paul move to Connecticut into their new home which turns out has Paul’s secrets within the 23000 acres of land. Truths were revealed that I didn’t either of them would forgive each other! Definitely one of those reads where you WANT to root for the villain. Looking forward to reading what’s next from ROKSOLANA!
I gave this book 4 stars because it kept me interested the whole time and the twists surprised me. I liked how both characters had secrets and how the story made me question who was actually dangerous. The suspense and psychological parts were really good, but some parts felt a little slow. Overall, it was a really interesting and intense read that kept me wanting to know what happened next.
This story brings you a dark and twisted place so easily. You truly don’t see it coming. And I think that was Paul’s intention for Rhea from the beginning. This story pulled me in so fast. I couldn’t put it down once I started. The isolation, the twists and turns. I was hooked. The darkness in this was wild. And it was like a rollercoaster ride from beginning to end. The intensity, and that spice. This book brought it all. This was definitely one hell of a twisted story.
Roksolana wrote this in 3 weeks and I read it in one day. She continues to convince me that she is becoming one of my favorite indie authors. Her stories flow in a way that just absolutely suck me in. This story is no different. The secrets, lies and passion does not disappoint. I love being available for her ARCs, it’s one of my favorite pastimes.
This book is so good! So many twists and turns- once I thought I knew what was going on, something different happened. Very different than other psychological thrillers. I loved the relationship between the couple and did not expect the ending. Highly recommend & can’t wait to read more books from this author 😁
OMG!!!! This book had me on edge the whole time. It had me trying to figure out what was going to happen with the characters. There were so many twist and turns. If you love dark romance and psychological thrillers, then this book is for you.
Finished this book in one day! I love that it’s dark romance and also thriller, so many twists and turns that I didn’t see coming! This book definitely kept me on the edge of my seat! Thank you for this incredible arc! It was so spicy but definitely had a great plot! Add this to your tbr now!
Wow! I really wish I could give the book more than 5 stars!! That roller coaster and the ending!! So AMAZING!! I didn’t want to put this book down!! I loved Rhea so much! Her character was AMAZING! Paul was definitely a very interesting character 🤭 The ending was absolutely perfect
Second time reading this book. The 1st time I read it as an ARC and couldn’t put it down. This time is because the next book is coming out and I wanted to refresh my memory on it.
Also check out the author’s other books. The Luna series is another series you can’t put down.
Wow what a rollercoaster of emotions. The uncertainty of what was going to happen next kept me turning the page. The way this ends was not at all what I had expected with everything the characters go through. It was a mind puzzle from the start. And the spice was fantastic and wild.
I finished this book a couple days ago and I'm still not sure how I feel about it. There was tension, spice, secrets, and dark romance elements. I have to admit though that I found Rhea kind of annoying.
