Finding a book that hits all the right cozy notes is a rare treat, and this wonderful small town romance delivered beautifully.
Following Everett who returns to his roots after twenty years away, the story centers on his sweet reconnection with a local cafe owner who held a secret crush on him back in high school. The charming setting, the comforting atmosphere, and the genuine warmth of the community create an instantly delightful escape.
Watching Violet and Everett navigate their growing bond feels both effortless and deeply satisfying. An instant spark bridges the years between them, leading to cozy coffee dates, witty banter, and a refreshing commitment to direct communication whenever obstacles arise. The addition of supportive family dynamics, small town charm, and a shared mission to restore the local theater brings so much extra heart to their journey.
Closing the final chapter left me completely enchanted and yearning to spend more time in such a welcoming place. It captures everything wonderful about second chances, finding where you belong, and experiencing the pure magic of falling in love.

"Violet" by Kylie Waechter is such a sweet story of reconnection, small-town living, and finding yourself. I really, really liked this one. It felt so homey and cozy, like curling up in front of a crackling fire with an oversized blanket! My cheeks hurt from smiling while reading this book. I liked Violet (FMC) and Everett (MMC) so much! Violet is a 35-year-old self-professed caffeine-obsessed woman who owns The Flowerpot Cafe in Lavender Creek. She put her interior design degree to good use and created a cafe full of lively flower boxes, flower pots, and dried blooms, all clipped from her parents' flower farm. Life isn't quite what she planned it was going to be, but she loves owning the cafe. Violet had a crush on Everett when they were in high school, but nothing ever came of it. Everett's family owns Callahan Ranch, which has been in their family for several generations. The oldest son has always taken over the ranch, but Everett chose a different path, much to the chagrin of not only his family but apparently, the entire town of Lavender Creek, too. Everett moved to Los Angeles and became a stage manager, but more than that, he wanted to see who he was and what he was capable of outside the confines of his small British Columbia town. Everett's younger brother, Henry, let him know that their hometown's local theater was recently put up for sale. Everett bought it and plans to update and reopen it, taking it as a sign to come back home after living away from where he grew up for so long. Upon his return, he strolls into the Flowerpot Cafe and reconnects with Violet. There is an immediate spark between the two of them. They find themselves easily drawn to one another, getting closer and closer by the day as they plan a fundraiser to help with the costs of the theater's renovations. Their friendship blossoms into something more, something neither of them ever expected. Violet has been hurt in the past and has vowed not to let anyone else shape who she is, so she's cautious about relationships, but Everett has fallen hard and fast for her, and she is all he sees, and he's going to try his best to be with her. Their pairing felt so effortless, so flawless, like they were always meant to be together. The way they helped each other, the way they made each other better, the small moments of having coffee or dinner together, the way their hearts skip a beat when they go on their first date (!!!!), the way they were friends first and laughed together, their flirty banter, the small-town gossip and shenanigans but ultimate care for one another, the found family aspect... all of the pieces of this puzzle come together to make a beautiful, moving portrait of two people who find that they are better together. As I said, this is such a lovely, cozy book. This is what falling in love *should* feel like! I kicked my heels and giggled several times while reading it. I think this book is the perfect length. It never felt like there was anything unnecessary or extra just to up the page count. I hope everyone gives this book a chance, and I cannot wait for the next installment in what I hope will be a very long series! :)

decided to binge this overdue arc yesterday and i have some thoughts
this is a debut novel and for one i think it was pretty decent! i liked the small town vibes and the mmc returning back home after 20 years or so! for the story being under 200 pages, i couldn't expect a ton of emotional scenes but i felt like there was a lot lacking.
back when they where in highschool, they both had secret crushes on the other. he's like 2 or 3 years older (so it would've been weird back then anyway) but they both never said anything back then.... or even after the relationship progressed. i think that was something the author could've included for a full circle moment yk like oh we both found our way back to one another after this long
i loved how warm and comforting lavender creek felt, the familiar shops and people. they weren't invasive just curious and hesitant.
it just wasn't my favourite kind of story, their relationship just happened because they were business partners. like they both had some pain from their exes but it wasn't fully addressed either

Everett and Violet have my heart! This book was so well written from the town details to the character building to all the small life lessons throughout the book! Wow so so good!
Everett moves back to Lavender Creek after living in the big city of LA and takes on the new ownership of the town theatre. Violet; the towns cafe owner is an old friend that never got to make a full connection with Everett but when he arrives back in town the two team up to remodel the theatre.
Through all the ups and downs they find a way to grow together.
Everett and Violet have my heart! This book was so well written from the town details to the character building to all the small life lessons throughout the book! Wow so so good!

A fantastic debut by Kylie Waechter, a beautiful story of growth, finding your happiness, and love. As the first book in the series, we are introduced to the small town and it’s charm.
Everett is returning home to Lavender Creek, he took off for Los Angeles years back. It is time to return. The town Theater is now his to restore and rebuild his place in the town and family he walked away from.
Violet never left, and her café is a success.
Together these two start as friends, and little by little move to more. She has the support of her sisters, and Everett has his brother and friend Riley. We learn both have not had successful relationships in the past, and I like how they try in this one. Even as Everetts’ past re-appears, the two communicate.
I am looking forward to more from Lavender Creek.

I loved watching Violet learn to trust again after a past relationship left her doubting herself, while Everett returned home determined to restore more than just the town theater. Seeing him rebuild his relationship with his father and prove that chasing his dreams never erased his small-town roots added so much depth to the story.

Everett is determined to make a name for himself outside of his father’s legacy and buys the rundown town movie theatre. When he sees Violet for the first time since his teenage crush, he knows he came back for another reason.
Violet owns a bespoke café with a charming floral theme, and she’s just as swoony for Everett as he is for her. But when his past comes knocking, Everett has to answer and Violet has to decide if they still fit in each other’s lives.
Okay as a girl who normally reads romances hotter than the depths of Satan, I was absolutely crushing on Everett and Violet HARD. Kylie’s writing style is incredibly refreshing - the perfect amount of description vs dialogue that keeps me focused and loving it.
Also let it be known that characters can communicate maturely and directly and there can still be plot twists and conflict BLESSSSSSS. I loved the way both Violet and Everett communicated directly with each other. 10/10. Kylie nailed this in Violet and it was absolutely my favourite part.
I also loved the relationship Violet has with her sisters - that level of sisterhood is so real and life giving. 💜

The renovation brings Violet and Everett together, forcing them to work side by side. Everett has always had feelings for Violet and patiently shows her that he's someone she can trust. Violet is independent, outspoken, and guarded after past relationships, making their slow rebuilding of trust feel believable.
Their flirty banter was delightful, but I also loved Violet's relationship with her sister. It was supportive, comforting, and one of my favorite parts of the book. The side characters added so much warmth, making the town feel like a real community.
What stood out to me most was how Kylie Wager carefully wove the theater renovation into the story. It wasn't just a backdrop for the romance—it quietly reflected the characters' lives and relationships. Just as the theater wasn't torn down but restored with patience and care, the same was true for healing, trust, and love. The symbolism appears in subtle moments throughout the book, making the renovation feel like an extension of the emotional journey rather than just another plot point. I loved how naturally the author carried this theme from beginning to end. Seeing the entire town come together to support the project made the ending especially heartwarming.

Almost twenty years later, he’s restless, questioning his life, and an unexpected opportunity pulls him back home. Watching him navigate that return, the unresolved tension with his dad, and the feeling of still not quite fitting into the life he left behind was so quietly emotional.
Violet? I adored her. She put her entire heart into her small-town café and made it thrive, and is surrounded by sisters who are deeply involved in her life (in the best way). She’s 35, longing for a family while also trying to accept that it might never happen and wow, that hit hard. I related to her so much it hurt. Her quiet confidence, her boldness, and the way she still shows up despite past heartbreak made her such a compelling heroine.
The slow burn between Everett and Violet was chef’s kiss. Childhood crushes, mutual “it’s always been you” energy, lingering glances, hand brushes, banter, and tension that took forever to break, 58% for the first kiss, but absolutely worth the wait. Their connection felt easy and natural, like two people finally meeting again at the right time in their lives.
I also loved the friendships and family dynamics. Everett’s long-distance friendship with Riley (a single dad still grieving his wife) was refreshing and heartfelt, and Violet’s sister moments, movie nights, dinners, teasing, were pure gold. The town itself felt alive, especially as Everett poured everything into restoring the theater and the community showed up for him in return.

A cute small town romance between the girl who's always known she belongs and the guy who left only to come back home. Violet and Everett's story is easy, low drama and the close knit town/family and friends setting gives me Hallmark vibes.
When Violet's high school crush comes back to town, she doesn't expect Everett to take one look at her and pursue her with no calms. But her last relationship left scars and she isn't one to jump in without really thinking it through.
Everett is back home after 20 years away in the big city. He wants to set down roots and prove that he is back for good. Pursuing something real with the girl he never stopped thinking about it a bonus.
I liked their story and it's a comfy read for sure. Things went smoothly with no real drama for these two and their story was a slow burn, gradual relationship. The surprise trope revealed later in the book was not expected but again didn't really cause much of a stir. I loved Violet's sisters and I hope they get their own HEA, along with Henry and Riley. This is the start to a new series so I'm sure we'll be seeing Violet and Everett again!
Overall a good read, but maybe a little too easy/drama free.

I liked their story and it's a comfy read for sure. Things went smoothly with no real drama for these two and their story was a slow burn, gradual relationship. The surprise trope revealed later in the book was not expected but again didn't really cause much of a stir. I loved Violet's sisters and I hope they get their own HEA, along with Henry and Riley. This is the start to a new series so I'm sure we'll be seeing Violet and Everett again!
Overall a good read, but maybe a little too easy/drama free.

I DNF'd this at 80%, which is honestly impressive because I usually force myself to finish books even when I'm miserable. This was marketed as a slow burn romance,cosy small town and I was actually invested. The chemistry was building, the tension was finally paying off... and then, out of absolutely nowhere, the author drops that the MMC has a kid. Not in the blurb. Not hinted at. Just surprise! Here's a whole child that's suddenly a major part of the story. If you're going to make parenthood a significant aspect of your main character, readers deserve some indication beforehand. That's not a minor personality quirk—that fundamentally changes the dynamic of the romance. Some readers love that trope, some don't, and hiding it until you're 80% into the book feels incredibly frustrating.
It completely pulled me out of the story. Instead of focusing on the relationship I'd been following, I was suddenly expected to adjust to an entirely different dynamic that I never signed up for. At that point, I had no interest in continuing.
If secret children or surprise single-parent romances are your thing, you may not mind this. But if you specifically avoid that trope, consider this your heads-up, because I wish someone had given me one before I invested hours into this book.

With a beautiful connection that builds organically to their cute and flirty banter and the way the support each other, I really enjoyed these characters. I thoroughly enjoyed how these two communicated through the hiccups and conflicts that appeared when Everett past came back to surprise him.
I also have to mention Violet and her sisters. The bond between was them was everything I love! They way they showed up and supported each other was the best.

Violet is an absolute sweetheart. She is in her mid 30s, longs for her own family and has her sisters in her life. She build her cafe into a success in their small town. When her childhood crush returns after buying the local theater, these two work together to restore it.
Everett and Violet play out in a way where the connection feels so natural. The lingering glances, both had crushes when they were younger, witty banter and sweet undeniable chemistry.

This book is a great love story. It gives you small town feels and hallmark vibes but in a way I know most of us won’t admit we actually love to hear about. The simplicity of reading how two people go from friends to falling in love while growing and learning to love each other regardless of their faults . I greatly enjoyed the way you can’t but help want to hear what is next for Violet & Everett and to join them in all the hometown country vibes of Lavender Creek! Bravo on a heartfelt feel good debut Kylie keep taking me back to nostalgia of simpler times and the smell is coffee and flowers!

"Violet" by Kylie Waechter is such a sweet story of reconnection, small-town living, and finding yourself. This book was so cozy this could honestly be the most perfect almost fall book! I absolutely loved Violet and Everett’s story. Violet has always had a thing for Everett, but Everett leaves to find himself. When the theater in their home town is put on the market he makes his return and the magic begins.
I can’t recommend this book enough and I hope you pick it up soon or this fall for a cozy beautiful story.

3/5...The small-town setting was cozy, and I enjoyed spending time in Lavender Creek with Violet, Everett, and the supporting characters. Their second-chance romance had some sweet moments, and the family dynamic added warmth to the story. That said, it was a little slow to start, and it took me a while to fully connect with the characters and the plot. The pacing improved as the story went on, but the climax was fairly subtle, so it didn't deliver the emotional impact I was hoping for. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

They went to school together, but after graduating high school, Everett left Lavender Creek for Los Angeles and never looked back. Meanwhile, Violet stayed in Lavender Creek, built a life for herself, and even opened her own coffee shop in town.
It was wonderful watching their friendship grow and develop into something more. Their chemistry was sweet, and I enjoyed seeing them reconnect after so many years apart.
While I did feel the story was a little short and a bit rushed in places, it was still a truly enjoyable read. It left me excited to return to Lavender Creek and see what Book 2 in the series has in store. 😀

I enjoyed this one but it fell just a little short for me. It's a closed door romance and definitely slow burn in a small town. I liked both MCs but it seemed like not a whole lot happened in the book. Still good for a hopeful read.

If there’s one word to describe Kylie’s debut novel, it’s cozy, like curling up on a rainy day under your warmest blanket in front of a fireplace. Reading it was like being transported into Gilmore Girls’ Stars Hollow - complete with all of its small town quaintness (and quirkiness!) Loved Violet and Everett and watching their story unfold. Can’t wait to revisit Lavender Creek in #2!
