Excellent book and very well written. I couldn't stop reading! In fact, I read the whole thing, cover to cover, twice in the space of one weekend. A fascinating exploration of a way of life that many thought was a thing of the past, but has clearly never gone away and is growing again. So many different women's perspectives and experiences, including those of a new wave of young women who are leaving men behind and finding happiness with women instead. The book addresses all of the usual criticisms and misunderstandings that are levied at lesbian feminism, and it does so with great intelligence, clarity and warmth. If you have ever wondered about life beyond compulsory heterosexuality ('comp het') this book could change your life! Or your friends life. Read it, then pass it on x

No, women cannot choose to be a lesbian. Sexuality is innate, not chosen. I am just as feminist as the next radfem, but this is not it. I didn't choose to be a lesbian and people claiming that you can even by the lens of being more feminist and de-centering men are wrong and harming actual lesbians who didn't "choose" their sexuality.
