This touching realistic picture book revolves around a boy named Michael and his cat Mitch. From almost the very start Mitch the cat was showing symptoms that he was sick mainly by not eating. Throughout the story you get the learn what Mitch likes and what he dislikes. By doing so you form a bond with the cat just like Michael did. The story as a whole is sad throughout.

Just by judging the title cover you wouldn't be able to tell how sad the story will be other than the title of Goodbye Mitch. It shows Michael smiling and the cat looking as healthy as can be. I think the illustrator did this to make the story sound happy. The framing was standard nothing special. I will say that the artwork was its saving grace. The reason I give this story a 3/5 is due the the lack of originality and seems like a vanilla story of a boy and cat.
