Black iron bars everywhere. Nothing to do, but count the cockroaches on the wall. The chink and rattle of my chains sounding loud in the stillness of the cell with every movement that I make. All this to just keep me from the freedom of the wide open plains beyond the bars of my window. I didn’t like rules and I broke them whenever I could. That was why I was here rotting in this Mexican hell hole of a prison.
Logan Collins was hell bent and he would be the first one to admit it. Cattle Rustler, Bank Robber, Hired Gun ………. the list went on. One thing he wasn’t though was a man that took orders. So when he was ordered to do something against his will by the U.S. Government he did what he always did. He rebelled.
Hard Wind is a continuation of a series of western sci-fi novels that feature adventure, action, and faith. Christian Speculative Fiction – learn to love it!
I’m a redeemed ordinary person intent on bringing my Heavenly Father, pleasure and a return on the priceless investment that He has made into my life. I’ll never be able to fully repay Him, but my goal is to try and when my time comes to go that I’ll be caught away in the very act of still trying to do so.
Read my books and you'll learn everything there is to know about me in a way that only several hundred thousand words can do, but in a nutshell I'm imaginative and I love to write and at some point in my busy life I have apparently had a lot of time to do just that.
His resume is long, cattle rustler, bank robber, hired gun, too bad the law frowns upon such expertise. Logan Collins is convinced he is destined for hell, so why not raise a little now, aren’t rules meant to be broken for free spirits like him? Welcome to Guy Stanton III’s Hard Wind and Logan’s first glimpse of what he considers Heaven, in the eyes of a beautiful and feisty young woman. Too bad the woman just tasered him without remorse and is likely to do it again if he doesn’t fall in step with the deal he is being offered. I know, you’re thinking, a taser in the Wild West? Yessiree, partner, a taser and more!
Seems Logan has been offered a deal he cannot refuse and he becomes the ultimate power behind a spaceship headed of planet. Too bad he has no idea what these people are talking about, but he’ll go along with anything to do with Claire, the angel of his dreams. Will her faith in Logan and her faith in God hit a roadblock with only one path to choose? Has the love a good woman brought faith back into Logan’s life?
Guy Stanton III knows how to mix it up and come out with a tale to read, re-read and pass along! There is a maturing of his style as he has settled into this series firmly as he raises his own bar with Hard Wind. From the Old West to Outer Space, this western/Scifi/Christian fiction is clever from start to finish as the transitions run very smoothly and the characters come to life on each page!
I received this copy from Guy Stanton III in exchange for my honest review.
Series: The Wind Drifters - Book 3 Publication Date: March 2, 2015 Publisher: Words of Action Genre: Sci-fi/Western/Christian Fiction Print Length: 86 pages My Rating: 4.5 Stars Available from: Amazon Reviewed for: http://tometender.blogspot.com
Well, I tried. The series keeps going down hill, IMO anyway. The story had potential, but it just never turned remotely believable where character actions-beliefs alignment is concerned. A little less of an attempt as a romance theme than volume two, but no less based on lust. And, this one seems to have had less of an edit than volume 2. Put it all together and --meh.
When a group of strange men release him, rather than freeing him, he discovers that they’re taking him to a mysterious ‘government’ man named Lawrence for purposes they will not explain. Collins escapes, but is recaptured. He later learns that this man, Lawrence Rothelson IV, is part of a powerful cabal seeking the means to leave the planet, and that he is the key to them doing so. Collins, a drifter, rebel, and general outlaw, finds his faith tested when he meets and falls in love with the beautiful Claire, also a prisoner. Hard Wind by Guy Stanton III, is the third in a series of sci-fi/westerns with a religious bent, or what the author calls Christian Speculative Fiction, featuring the traditional shoot ‘em up action, science fiction a la Jules Verne, and a religious message interwoven in the story. The author writes well, and has a clear understanding of the genres; thus he does an effective job of blending them. At times, though, the dialogue drifts into patterns more appropriate to the late 20th century, and the main character learns things rather more rapidly than is totally credible. The ending, while satisfying as far as it goes, seemed just a tad too pat, and left things hanging. While I found this an enjoyable book, being the third in the series, I expected it to match the level of Ice Wind, and it missed the mark. Having said that, I still recommend it as an entertaining weekend read.
Logan Collins is a thief and outlaw currently in a Mexican jail looking for ways to escape. Logan's brother Taran had a parting of ways and doesn't see that mending anytime soon. Logan is held hostage because he can only access the power that government official Lawrence wants badly. Logan meets Christy his heart undergoes transformation that he never expected to happen. Will Logan make amends with Taran? Will Lawrence get what he wants? How does Christy change Logan? Your answers await you in Hard Wind.
For being short novellas these book pack a punch to the gut. The characters are real, honest, complex, and compelling. The story is intriguing, compelling, fast paced, and quick read too. I look forward to the next book in this series.
I was given a copy of "Hard Wind" by the author in exchange for an honest review. This series has been lots of fun so far. This is book three. Western meets Sci Fi(with a Christian viewpoint). The storyline continues with Taron's brother Logan. I can see things lining up, we still have a missing sister and a few unanswered questions. I am hoping they will tie into the "Warrior" series. I give it four stars. I really liked it. No swearing and no explicit sexual content. I can recommend for ages 17 and up due to adult content. I also will note there were a few editing issues, but not enough to distract from the story.
Logan is an Outlaw who gets taken out by a Girl. And the Tazer that she used was just ingenious. I like when the female characters like Claire get added to in some way. They don't stand around and wait for the guys to save the day. Sure she is sort of working for the bad guy, but still. Now Logan gets told that his brother who became a Yankee in the war is off world. Logan has a job to do and that includes getting even with Claire the woman with the tazer. But will he go through with it, even if he does have feelings for her? And will his new boss use Claire to control him into doing what he wants? Find out in Hard Wind.
Hard Wind is the third book of The Wind Drifter series. The book is well written, full of adventure, and excitement. The characters are not always good/nice. Logan is an outlaw fighting the really bad guys.he meets a kidnapped girl, Christina, and together with prayer and faith they both grow closer to God and each other. The willingness to do what's right shows us God's strengh in our lives.
I look forward to reading the next book in The Wind Drifter series.
4.5 stars....Hard Wind has been my favorite so far of the series, I liked it a lot. The story caught and kept my attention well. The characters were likable. The story started up and kept going, I don't remember any spots that I lost interest or felt bogged down.
I am looking forward to the next book in the series. And I feel it is about time to re-read the Warrior Kind series....
