Bullycide: True Stories Exposing the Influence Bullying has on Youth Suicide Vol. 2

Rate this book
Have you or someone you know been a victim of bullying? In one way or another, bullies are something every generation has had to deal with. Some people even think it’s just a part of growing up. However, suicide caused by bullying is possibly on the rise and this is something that can no longer go ignored. Can bullies really push a young person to kill themselves, weakening their self-esteem and using psychological terror to push their peer over the edge? Unfortunately, it does happen and is all too common. From emotional bullying to physical acts and cyberbullying, more and more young people are feeling targeted and harassed. For many of these victims, the overwhelming nature of the bullying just becomes too much and, unable to handle the pressure and emotional turmoil, they take their own lives–sometimes with little to no warning to those they love. According to Reuters, those school children who are bullied are more than twice as likely to consider killing themselves as those who aren't. While it’s not known how bullying and suicide are connected, but it’s enough to say that they must be. In the following book, we’ll look at several different cases that involve children and teens who were bullied and later, maybe as a result of that bullying, took their own lives. We’ll look at cases involving sexting, cyberbullying, physical bullying and emotional bullying. From Jessica Logan who killed herself after a private photo of herself was passed through her school district to Tyler Clementi who’s love life was broadcast to the world via webcam, all of these tragedies involve the loss of a life way too young. While the ages of the victims will range from young teen to college freshman, all have one thing in the young person felt targeted and harassed and suffered from emotional stress because of it. After reading these stories, hopefully it will shed some more light on how serious bullying is and you will feel inspired to join others and take a stand against it.
