Fandom: Teen Wolf Relationships: Chris Argent/Peter Hale, Derek Hale/Stiles Stilinski -------------------------------------------------- "Why won’t you stop pushing?” Chris demands, chest almost flush with his.
“A fatal flaw in my character,” Peter forces out, reveling in the harsh pull of breath past Chris' grip
A very plausible and well contrived post-Season 2 divergence through the eyes of Peter Hale.
Petopher is simmering subtly between the lines until it boils over at the end. Where as Stiles and Derek's banter is where their chemistry lies; Peter and Chris' foreplay mutual understanding of emotional scars is in their history of their families' legacies and their calculated tactical/strategic maneuverings to ensure their legacies through a truce instead of violence. The new approach is uncomfortable for everyone. Peter revels in the uncomfortable.
Sterek is happening in the periphery. Obvious enough you won't miss it, but subtle enough that I would label this more of a Petopher than a Sterek.
First and foremost this is a character study of Peter Hale. I am a fan of character studies. This one is done very well. Peter is not a nice guy and he knows it ... but maybe he is more well intentioned than even he would like to admit.
Violence is the name of the game between Hales and Argents. As it is between Peter and Chris. But where as violence has always been something that has torn the Hales and Argents apart, it is more of a common ground for Peter and Chris.
2.5 Agreed with Rachel that this was a good character study of Peter Hale, who also happens to be my favorite TW cutie-pie so! Something else that I enjoyed was the fuss-free writing style: no spun out drama, overly flowery descriptions, just crisp and clean and warp speed fast.
Perhaps a little too fast... It did feel like I was reading a summary rather than an engrossing fic, which is why it never actually managed to 'touch' me. Oh, and this is a silly little niggle, that stood out mostly because Peter was so perfectly done by this author, but Stiles was surprisingly OOC. Anyway, make sure to check out Rachel's review!
