The world feels rich, immersive, and believable, with characters who are interesting and feel like real people. The settings are vividly described throughout the novel, making it easy to picture the world and become fully immersed in it.
The writing flows effortlessly, never feeling repetitive or forced. The pacing is well balanced, alternating between moments of tension, action, and danger, and quieter scenes of reflection, recovery and warmth. The story unfolds in a linear fashion while shifting between multiple character perspectives that are easy to distinguish and follow.
At its heart, the story is driven by the friendships between the characters—their loyalty to one another and their shared determination to uncover the mysteries unfolding around them. Each character is distinct, layered, and authentic, developing naturally throughout the story. I found myself becoming invested in most of the cast surprisingly quickly, with each bringing their own personality, charm, humour (or delightful lack thereof), and unique quirks. That emotional connection kept me turning the pages, eager to discover where each of their journeys would lead. Although the story contains some dark and serious moments, the novel balances them well with plenty of lighter, more playful interactions. The wit and charm of certain characters provide welcome relief, and more than once they genuinely made me smile.
Overall, this was a thoroughly enjoyable read that I would happily recommend to fans of young adult fiction and fantasy alike. While the novel ends with some major questions left unanswered, I appreciated that the smaller mysteries and plot threads introduced along the way were resolved in satisfying ways. By the end, I had grown attached to the characters and become invested in both the world and the story, and I’m eager to see where it goes next.

En perfekt stund på dagen där man kommer bort från verkligheten och får leva sig in i magins värld. Helt enkelt en magisk bok!

Detta är en av de absolut bästa fantasy böckerna jag läst. Är överlag inte ett superfan av fantasy men denna var något helt annat! Läs!!!! Så välskriven och detaljerad att man verkligen får en känsla genom varje kapitel :) MYCKET bra bok

A debut book from the fantasy genre. Very well written. Captivating, intriguing and at some times frightening. The cliffhanger leaves you wanting more and I am super excited for the follow-ups!
