I enjoyed the story of Journee and Javon. It was supposed to be a fun night with a stranger on a cruise that turned into so much more. The characters had depth with a pained history that neither wanted to share so they lied by omission. While their connection was instant, her insecurities and his uncertainties led to a lot of back and forth, but he always self corrected. Javon was a loyal steadfast hero who was willing to get deep and do the work. Journee was a heroine scared to love and be hurt and kept herself hidden for five years. She was a bit fickle and quick to give up. Luckily, she had a friend that gave it to her straight, and that kept her grounded. The story had loyal friends, deep conversations, lots of flirting, lots of steamy scenes, a cheating ex, second chances, heated arguments, and a HEA. I really liked the characters. They were well developed, relatable and likable. Some of the writing felt a bit disjointed at times, but there was an overall cool vibe. This was first time reading this author, but I think I would definitely read her work again.
