Melted by Jennie Marts is a wonderful story of life perhaps not going the way you thought it would but getting a second chance.

Emily and Logan were sixteen years old when they met while Emily was visiting her Grandparents cabin one summer. They fell madly in love as teenagers do and made plans for the future. But Logan didn’t keep his promise and disappeared from Emily’s life.

Now as a nearly thirty year old, Emily’s life has not gone as she hoped. Her Grandparents have passed on and it has fallen to her to clean out the cabin. There are so many memories here, both of her wonderful summers with her Grandparents and of her first and only real love, Logan.

As a huge blizzard comes through, who shows up at the cabin door but Logan, both just as shocked to see each other after all these years. During the night as they are both stuck in the cabin during the storm, they become reacquainted and realize the same feelings after all these years are all still there.

“I finally have you back in my life and I’m not letting you go again. I gave you my heart when we were sixteen. I belong to you. I always have.”

Emily, though, harbors deep feelings of mistrust and Logan is keeping a secret that could destroy the newly formed bond. These two clearly were in love all those years ago and never forgot one another. They both need and deserve this second chance at happiness if Logan can convince Emily of his true motives for being there.

This was my first Jennie Marts book and definitely not my last. I truly enjoyed this story of second chances.

** 2 boring stars **

Second chance stories can be tricky. Too many variables that could make things just....wrong.

This was a case of two 16 year olds who met and fell in love one summer.. They made promises and shared dreams then when summer was over they gradually lost touch.

I was mad at Logan too. He stopped writing Emily and lost touch. He was gone when she went back the next summer. He could have contacted her through her grandparents. Yes, he , but why couldn't he have dropped her a letter in the years prior? She had no clue where he was.

Now, over 10 years later they cross paths again. Neither have forgotten the other. Both had dated others but they didn't measure up to the love they had.

~no cheating or ow/om drama whatsoever
~both with others during separation
~NO EPILOGUE whatsoever
~not steamy at all...fade to black sex scenes

6 "I am blown away" STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

"Em, I have loved you since the day I laid eyes on you waking down that dock. Thoughts of you have filled my head, my dreams, my fantasies since I was sixteen years old. I don't know what crazy twist of fate finally brought us back together, but I don't want to waste another minute of my life being without you."

Stories like this are the reason I love to read.
This is one of the best short stories I have ever read. The writing flowed so beautifully and the characters were real and enticing. I just loved the second-chance love story and how I was drawn in to the story so quickly.
I very much enjoyed that Logan was not a man whore but a genuine good guy. Emily was sweet and real and trying to just endure some very crappy circumstances.
I need more.
I want another story with these characters and this author. I am completely in awe. I just adored this story.
Thank you Jennie for writing this. I look forward to reading more from you.

Short and sweet romance! I'm a fan of both second chance stories and Jennie Marts' books! This novella has her trademark humor, a sweet reunion, and sexy romance! With clever dialogue, a hot hero, and a heroine in need of a little rescuing. Highly recommend!

This was a quick, sweet read perfect for a night in or a beach read. It has little angst and was easy to get through without pulling at your heartstrings or feeling stressful. Both Emily and Logan were sweet characters who fell in love together young, both suffered broken hearts and this was their second chance to make it right. If you are already a fan of this author then I recommend this book (her Page Turners series is fantastic), and if you are looking for a sweet, light romance then this one might be perfect for you.

This was an enjoyable short story with only two characters but heart warming and funny nonetheless.

More than once I had to wipe out a stupid grin from my face not to look like an idiot. The story and the two characters, Emily and Logan, felt genuine and real in their feelings and struggles and although the plot itself is incredibly simple (one setting, two point of views, two protagonists) it was also well written, even though a bit predictable.

If you’re looking for a short but engaging romance, look no further.

Melted by Jennie Marts was such a cute read that constantly had me awwing. Even though Melted is a short and quick read, I felt that the story of Logan and Emily ended perfectly. To me, this was a great second chance romance with genuine characters. I loved Logan and Emily and could definitely picture their love story played out in a hallmark movie.

A cute second chance romance where everything moves at warp speed (a little too fast in my opinion). Pretty short, took me less than 30 minutes to read.

I really like to read novellas. They are usually a light story and can be fit into a busy time in my life. Another wonderful thing about them is that they usually do not have a lot of drama in them. Sometimes it is good to have a situation resolve itself easily.

This novella is the perfect example of why I like to read them so much. The characters and their relationship are developed quickly. I know that they are meant to be together from the start! I can sit back and read without stress and relax, knowing all will be well in a short time.

I really enjoyed this story. It was great to read about so much snow, while it is 90 degrees outside!

Sweet read

Read this in one night . A sweet romance read. Emily comes back to the cabin of her grand mothers to clean it out and find the ring her grandmother loss. Memories come back on the one guy she fell in love with, Logan. A knock on the door shocks her when she looks out to see who it is . Logan couldn’t believe Emily was here. After leaving he went back for Emily but was told she was engaged. Now sitting in front of him wearing a ring . Can these two move on from the heartbreak they left here

Cute little second chance story set in a snowy cabin. Emily and Logan lost touch when his mother moved him away. Now he’s back to renovate the cabin he purchased from her mother. She just doesn’t know it. Snowed in second chance!

Our Rating:

After one summer together when they were young, Emily never thought she’d see Logan again. But her trip home to ready her grandmother’s cabin for the new owners lands him out of her memories and right onto her doorstep.

But... As is common with novellas, I wanted more, especially since Jennie Marts has such a way of pulling readers into a moment as if they’re living it themselves. The writing was pretty much flawless, but I do wish we had gotten a deeper look into the characters, their pasts, and their future together. Without more background and time to develop everything, it was a little difficult for me to believe that two adults, years after their initial romance as teens, could so quickly fall head over heels in love again.

The Verdict: I usually avoid novellas like the plague, but I’m on a Jennie Marts roll right now, so I figured I’d give Melted a shot. It turned out to be a really sweet, romantic read!

Emily’s back at her late grandmother’s cabin, and the visit is bittersweet. Through a childhood filled with abandonment, the cabin is really the only place she could ever call home. But her grandmother’s passing necessitates selling the cabin, and as much as she’d like to sit in her memories, she’s there to pack it up and say goodbye. Letting the property fall into someone else’s hands is bad enough, but to make matters worse, the real estate agent confirmed that the new owner will be gutting it, removing all traces of the vintage craftsmanship and good memories.

Logan’s looking for his dog when he shows up at Emily’s door, and his appearance unleashes an avalanche of memories. One sweet summer was all they had together as teenagers before he simply disappeared. Promising to keep in touch and not let go of what they shared, Logan’s communications with Emily after that summer faded away into silence, and with a broken heart, she never expected to see him again.

Their reunion is sad and sweet and utterly romantic. It seems that Fate recognizes they belong together and has put them in each other’s paths all these years later. Emily’s a bit jaded, but Logan is determined to put her pieces back together. There are a few laughs, but mostly their story is one of finally finding each other again and rekindling what Emily thought was lost. I really wasn’t sure that forty-six pages would be enough to pull me in, but while their story was short, it was certainly worth the read.

I personally like "open door" bedroom scenes. This book has the characters lying in front of the fireplace and all of a sudden it is the next morning. To me, there is a whole scene that is missing. I liked the short story otherwise.

I loved this short story at second chance love between Emily and Logan. You fall in love with both of them and follow along on their struggles they went through to reconnect. Strong characters you can relate with.

This book had potential, but fell kinda flat. The h seemed a little on the scary female over emotional crazy side sometimes. She held on to the past so hard it was a little harsh.
