Ingela Bohm lives in an old cinema, tucked away in a northern Swedish forest where she can wander around all day long and dictate her books. She used to dream of being an actor until an actual actor asked, “Do you really need to do it?” That’s when she realized that the only thing she really needed to do was to write. She has since pretended to be a dietician, a teacher, a receptionist and a cook, but only to conceal her real identity.

Her first imaginary friend was called Grabolina and lived in her closet. Nowadays she has too many imaginary friends to count, but at least some of them are out of the closet. Her men may not be conventionally handsome, but they can charm your pants off, and that’s all that matters.

Ingela’s more useless talents include reading tarot cards, killing pot plants and drawing scandalous pictures that no one gets to see. She can’t walk in heels and she’s stopped trying, but she has cycled 12 000 miles in the UK and knows which campsites to avoid if you don’t like spiders. If you see her on the train you will wonder what age she is.

This was a nice enough short story about a conductor and a violinist, who make a connection and fall for one onether during one night.

The strength of Strings Attached is absolutely in the characters. They are different and feel authentically so. Both are somewhat unsure about how to approach the other, and that leads to tension that feels organic and was sritten quite well.

Very little detail aside from childhood anecdotes is given about either character, but I didn't mind, beause their actions and the dialogue was plenty to flesh out the characters.

Even though it might sound like to romane is too quick, I don't think it is. Firstly, there is no guarantee of happily ever after, merely two men willing to try. Secondly, they don't get it right in the first try, but rather chance has to interfere.

Unfortunately, especially towards the end the prose get a bit flowery and that doesn't mesh well with the stroy, I thought something crisper and cleaner wold have both fited the characters but also been more pleasant to read.

Two stars.

Enjoyed this short story about a internationally acclaimed conductor and violinist who spend a night together in the same town fall in lust and then in love. who due to their international touring lifestyle are slow to commit to each other. but getting a glimpse of life without a significant other and potential for life together they agree to take the plunge...

like other short reads, you don't get the great depth to the characters and a storyline that a 200 or more story gives you, not to many ups and downs, twists and turns, no slow budding attraction but what you do get is a short read that leaves you happy for both Jeremiah and Tony at the end.
