The story started off pretty good but then about 1/2 way through the cracks in character development started to show through strongly. It's Not a mafia romance like the author says in the extended title. The MMC runs an "underground" boxing/fighting show but it's his fighters fighting his fighters so really it's A fighting gambling scam. He also has absolutely no backbone, lets a guy go who was physically pushing himself onto the FMC in the beginning of the book with just a verbal stay away from her warning and absolutely no follow up to try to find out if the guy was actually a threat to her. He lets his adult daughter (a completely spoiled brat of a person) dictate if he is going to take responsibility for the spicy time consequences with her friend. The FMC is also a bit spineless (sets up a girl time night with her BFF only so she can get with the BFF's dad) and then lets him treat her like scrap and gets ghosted when he finds out she's prego. Spoiler, she takes him back because her former bestie says it's kinda ok without even talking to him about his actions. I almost didn't bother finishing the story because it was so bad. Definitely not a book that I'll read again and I'm glad it was one I got through KU so I'm not out any money for something I didn't enjoy. The story has potential but the author would need to spend time rewriting about 2/3 of the book, give the characters spines and rewrite the daughter to not be a controlling drunk.
Sexting My Best Friend’s Dad by Laylah Snow is a steamy, forbidden age-gap romance that kicks off with a cringe-worthy blind date and one very accidental text. When Megan reaches out for help and mistakenly messages her best friend’s silver fox father, mafia king Silvio Siffredi, he swoops in to save the day — and their flirty texting quickly spirals into something much hotter (and far more complicated). I really enjoyed Megan’s backstory and found her easy to root for. The chemistry between her and Silvio is undeniable, and the writing pulls you right into their tension-filled dynamic. That said, the big dramatic twist in the middle felt stronger than the ending, which dragged slightly afterward. Silvio’s reasoning for his behavior during that conflict also felt a bit thin. Overall, it’s well written, addictive, and delivers on the forbidden fantasy with plenty of heat and heart. If you love protective antiheroes and taboo romance vibes, this one’s for you. 4 stars!
I did enjoy this book very much, but not as much as the others so far. Don’t get me wrong. I am absolutely in love with Megan. She is a very strong character who left her mom and dad who decided they knew what was best for her and her future. With her best friend Carlotta she had everything she needed to make it on her own. They have been best friends since grade school. And Carlotta was determined to set Megan up with the perfect date. A perfect date that went absolutely wrong, and with a mistaken text to Carlotta’s dad Silvio who turned up to rescue her. One thing led to another, and they now have a very complicated relationship that has been kept secret. Well now, Megan has a secret which might destroy everything including her friendship with her Bestie. It’s a good read, and a lot of life lessons.
If you're going to write a forbidden age-gap romance, you actually have to put in the work to build the tension.
Megan is an insufferable FMC, and the "hot sexual connection" the narrative keeps trying to sell us is entirely fabricated. Silvio picks her up from a mundane bad date, nothing of substance happens between them during the ride home, and suddenly they're acting like they share some deep, smoldering bond from a standard car ride. The author clearly just needed a flimsy excuse to kick off the plot and the eventual pregnancy trope, skipping right over any believable character development.
I don't have the patience for insta-lust that lacks basic logical buildup. Hard pass.
This book is part of the "Forbidden Kings" series. When her best friend sets her up on a blind date with Marco, a guy who doesn't understand the meaning of the word "no", Megan texts for backup. Unfortunately, or fortunately, she ends up texting Carlotta's father. Silvio Siffredi shows up and dispatches the a-hole and gives Megan a ride home - and the chemistry starts to sizzle. When Megan texts him to thank him, a few days later, the messages start getting flirty and one thing leads to the other. Good book.
Megan finds herself way over her head on a blind date with a man that won't take no for an answer. Her emergency text goes to the wrong person because it is Silvio who comes to her rescue and it starts their blazing path together. Their relationship blooms and when two pink lines are on display, they have to come clean to his daughter who is also Megan's best friend. This age gap romance had me all caught up in the drama and cheering on Megan and Silvio.

The book was well written, in a way that draws you into the story and the characters. I liked Megan's backstop and found her compelling even if she did give in a bit easily to Silvio after he walked out. The only bit I didn't like was the big exciting bit. It was right in the middle, so the ending felt a little drawn out afterwards and I feel like the reasoning for hisam acting like that was a bit lacking. Didn't really seem like a good reason.

Steamy heat, forbidden love, found family, trauma, and a baby. This one has it all. Snow writes steamy scenes that cause hot flashes strong enough to melt icebergs!
Megan has nobody. Estranged from her family, she only has her bestie, Carlotta. That is until a terrible date has her sending a rescue text, but not to her bestie, but to her besties dad. Oops! A few days, A few glasses of wine, and one innocent kiss on his cheek that neither can forget and they're at risk of losing everything for happiness.
Once again, another great book from Laylah! I love her mafia age gap books. She always has great characters and steamy scenes! Her books always grab from the first paragraph and keep you hooked until you finish the book. I love reading Laylah books and can't wait for the next book to come out from her. You will not be disappointed in reading this book.

Megan has absolutely no spine and Carlotta is a royal spoiled ass bitch. Couldn't even finish this piece of crap. Storyline/plot was good but the female characters killed the entire thing. Sad too because I initially was excited to read this. I have read a few other Laylah Snow books and really enjoyed them. Sad that she missed the mark with this one. The plot had strong potential. Now, I just wish I could have my time and money back.
Lots of yearning for one another and trying their best to stay away because of Carlotta. I really enjoyed Silvio as an MMC. Megan was so relatable with trying to find her own way and needing to lead her own life without her families suffocating narrow minded influence.

Read previous reviews about this book and couldn’t wait to start it, However the MMC Silvio wasn’t as bad ass or masculine as I’d hoped. FMC was kind of boring. Storyline flowed but was very predictable. Not nearly enough 🌶️ for me. Would only recommend if your starting your spice journey it’s tame (personally)
Megan texts her best friend to help her get away from a bad date but when her best friend's father Silvio shows up instead, an attraction brews. Forbidden and dangerous, his world has consequences that could not be ignored. It was an exciting read that I could not put down.

WHOA BABY!! Sexting My Best Friend's Dad is one PHENOMENALLY HOT and FANTASTIC 5 star read. From sunup to sundown I was swooning, devouring and smiling over Silvio and Megan. This is definitely your next book to add to your kindle to read.
I really enjoyed this story the characters were well written and the plot was good but this did not actually feel like a mafia story. It was more of a romance with a sort of ex with an issue!.

Once you start you will be hooked, line, and sinker. Be prepared to be so invested you'll do good to put it down before you finish. Such spice and possession.

Megan is on a date gone wrong and texts her best friend's dad by mistake. Silvio shows up and takes care of her date. Their chemistry is hot and things get out of hand in this spicy mafia age gap romance.

Story line was really good. Characters were well written and thoughtfully created. But a lot of grammatical errors. If you can see past that, then I would 100% recommend this book. Spice level 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5
Finished the book and I still don’t understand what was supposed to be so dangerous about Silvio’s line of work. And why it “gave” him so much power and authority over others.
It was not deep enough to warrant that kind of “respect”../
