When the popular crowd at Brentwood High votes me Most Likely To: Marry A Math Book, I’m ready to put my ruler into the eye of any egotistical jock who comes near me.

did i expect this book to be actual ass and full of cliches? yes. did i have a good time reading it? absolutely.
this shit was giving 2000s rom com and i loved every second of it. IT WAS SO BAD BUT EVERYTHING I NEEDED TODAY.
the mc is so y/n and made math her whole personality but i actually didn’t hate her bc i had a lovely time reading this trashy book😍
also, as lily states, THE COVER IS VILE. DISGOSTANG. ACTUALLY REPULSIVE. i wanted to drive off a bridge just looking at it.

If you’ve been reading my reviews here and/or have been following my YouTube channel for awhile you’re probably already wondering why I read this, lol. Contemporary romance isn’t normally my jam, like, AT ALL, but I’ve been following the author’s YouTube channel and was curious about her books, so when this one popped up for free I snagged it. (Can’t pass up a free ebook, am I right? 😜)
I ended up binging it in a day while I was going through a terrible headspace and I really enjoyed it! Is it cheesy, Disney Channel vibes all the way? Yes, yes it is, and I loved that about it, plus both Maisie and Connor were compelling characters I cared about and grew to love and root for as the story progressed. I was impressed with how the author turned certain tropes and cliches on their heads and no messy, drama induced breakups or miscommunication happened, which I ALWAYS appreciate seeing in a romance.
Until it was free and I decided to take a risk, I was initially going to pass on this one because I was afraid the cheating trope would be involved here based on the description, but fear not fellow concerned reader because none of that happens with either character and she took great care with the topic, which makes me respect the author even more then I already did.
Overall I’m definitely going to keep reading this author’s books and would highly recommend this one if you want a fun, slightly cheesy but still adorable and sweet YA high school romance with a lot of heart.

📓TEACHING THE TEACHERS PET📓
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Comments: I think this is definitely one of the best books that Sarah has written so far. I absolutely loved the banter and relationship development between these two. Also being able to see Connors back story and maisie coming to terms with not fitting in in her family. I think it was a little bit cliche but I also love that about Sarah’s books because they are fun, easy and cutesy romance reads that are super quick to get through but it was still a bit stereotypical. although it is important to not that there was definitely a conscious effort to transform these stereotypes (eg. maisie having a boyfriend, Connor having a troubled home life and choosing maisie over jade).

Can we just take a minute to talk about Connor Bray from @sarahmaesutton new book Teaching the Teachers Pet. Because…. Connor needs to be my boyfriend I mean … I just went through a breakup where the guy I was dating was a lot like Alex in not wanting to publicly show that we were dating so reading about someone like Connor who told maisie that she shouldn’t have to be a secret and deserves more than that really really spoke to me. Overall I would definitely recommend reading this book coming out AUGUST 17.

stereo typical romance
Although this is a stereotypical high school romance with the football player and math geek, this book has more to offer than others like it. I felt more connected to the characters and their stories. I found myself wanting more and on the edge of my seat more times than none. All in all, great first book of the series.

soooo cute n precioussss <3 connor was LITERALLY THE CUTEST, my man’s definitely graduated from cutie patootie university 🤭 i loved him all the other books, but he was especially adorable in this one. AND THE SCENE FROM HIS POV??? i freaking love him when is it my turn 😭🙏 he was also really relatable, never letting anyone truly see behind his walls. maisie wasn’t that bad, though she kinda gave bel price vibes because of how blunt she was lol. i also loved the slow burn!! like the tension was def tensioning 🤭🤭 AND THE HUDSON CRUMBS OMG!! there was like none….but still….(🤭) all in all, i highly recommend reading this series and reading it in order! don’t do what i did haha

This is a classic average book, it wasn't overly great and it was necessarily bad, it was a nice read
The story will take us to a highschool where there is a thing called Most Likely list, each semester the popular crowd vote for people to be in that list ( spoilers, none of it is positive) so Maisie is the math geek and she was voted Most Likely to marry a math book, that hurts but she got her circle of friends and boyfriend to support her, but when the most popular guy Connor comes to her for help she thinks she can come to a deal .. she will tutor him if the school agree to return the label Valedictorian to the graduation ceremony, and hence their relationship begins
it was a nice cute book, no drama, no fuss and no one was really hurt through it all, all emotions where dimmed down to bask in that sweet atmosphere

this book was so cute!! i love connor, he’s actually the sweetest 💞💞 his quotes were so cute i was giggling the last like 20% of the book when they were together! maisie was annoying at first because she was kinda rude to connor for no reason? but it’s really because of her personality, shes very straightforward and blunt. also this book was so long like 400 pages. which isn’t that long but for a kindle romance i feel like it is?? but honestly it was pretty fast the whole time so it didn’t really feel like 400 pages!
i love this little world and i cant wait to read the rest of the books in the series!! 🤭🤍

This was the sweetest!
I’m not usually a fan of high school romance, but this one was so adorable!
Maisie is a math lover who begrudgingly agreed to tutor Connor. Most importantly it was a secret, which she wasn’t happy about. But session after session they started to fall for each other. The tender and vulnerable moments were amazing, I absolutely loved those! It was so sweet to see them falling for each other.
Connor was such a sweetheart, I loved him🥹
With everything he went through, I wish I could give him a hug. And Maisie was so sweet and understanding with everything. Moments when he came to her rescue were adorable!
I also loved how tender and loving Connor was. And the homecoming game scene was absolutely adorable! It’s my favorite. They seriously are a sweet couple.
This was a great high school romance, I’d recommend.🩷

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I love Sarah Sutton's books! Each and every one of her books is an enjoyable read, and Teaching the Teacher's Pet is no exception. It's the first book in her new series, and I'm already a fan!
The first half of this book was a little slow, but I was completely invested by the second half! Maisie was a relatable and likeable character from the beginning, so I was really rooting for her by the end. I wasn't sure how I would feel about Connor, but his character surprised me in a good way!
The nerd x jock pairing isn't one that I'm crazy about, but I thought it was well-done here! Maisie and Connor had good chemistry, and I loved their tutoring sessions. I was getting a little anxious towards the end to see how things would turn out!
I highly recommend this book (and all the rest of Sarah's books) to any YA contemporary romance fans out there. It's a clean and wholesome read that still has plenty of romance and swoon-worthy moments! The next book in the series is coming soon, and I'm excited to continue reading about these characters!

this is such a cute plot! i haven't read a high school romance in a while, and now i love it once again! the secret tutoring sessions, the banter, 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 was perfect!! 🥰 there were times when i audibly gasped and even once got up from my seat because of how shocked i was. 😲

this is such a cute plot! i haven't read a high school romance in a while, and now i love it once again! the secret tutoring sessions, the banter, 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 was perfect!! 🥰 there were times when i audibly gasped and even once got up from my seat because of how shocked i was. 😲

In this book, Maisie Mathews is approached by her teachers and asked to tutor the star football player Conner Bray. While reluctant at first Maisie ends up agreeing.
Conner says that in return for tutoring him in Algebra 2 he will give Maisie love advice.

I was lucky enough to be part of the ACR team for this book. I'm so honoured that I got the chance to read this book a few weeks early it was terrific.
This may be the next book Sarah has ever written in my opinion. As I read I soon found Maisie climbing to the top of the list of my favourite Sarah Sutton characters.
Maisie is believable and her real struggles give a depth to the character.
Maisie is one of my new favourite Sarah Sutton heroines. (Only Addie and Sophia are above her) Maise felt real, she had her flaws and she had her strengths. And when people began to tease her because of her strengths she began to wonder if it really was her strength.
Conner is a wonderful Love Interest, you know that something is going on with him and you want to keep reading to find out what.
I loved how at first Maisie and Conner found it very hard to get alone and It was fun watching them slowly (very slowly) become friends. The moment they shared a secret with each other and began to trust and understand each other.
Having watched Sarah’s YouTube videos where she doubts herself and the story I can safely say that those doubts were unneeded. This book is so well written, right from the start the story grabs you and you will find yourself unable to stop reading until the end.
Sarah has yet again written a book that I will forever love and reread. I cannot wait for Dreaming about the Boy Nextdoor, I’m so excited for the next part of the Most Likely Too series.

I loved the moment Conner confided in Maisie, it felt like he was putting his trust in her, and she in him when she confided in him.
Conner put Maisie on the list. That shocked me to the core. I was sure it had been Jade or Madison.
The fact that Maisie kissed Conner and they realised that they liked each other and then Jade caught them and threatened Conner then told Maisie that Conner was the one who put her name on the list was just a cruel mean thing to do. and it made me want to punch her.
When Conner left Jade in the middle of the field and went over to Maisie then told her in front of the entire school that he loved her and gave her origami flowers my heart was racing. It was such an amazing moment! I loved how Madison helped him come up with the idea, I think that at some point down the line the two of them will become friends again.
I hated the fact that Alex went from not really caring about Maisie to pretending to care about her. It felt so cruel and mean the fact that he was just using Maisie and playing with her feelings.
The moment that Maisie was told she was going to be valedictorian and she didn't feel the joy that she expected I instantly knew that she wasn't going to be able to stop loving Conner.

Full of cliches? Yes. Till the point that becomes predictable? Yep.
But I enjoyed the final part of the book, it was sweet.
Also... why is it that whenever I read or watch a movie with an enemies to lovers theme Pride and Prejudice is always mentioned? It's getting a little annoying.
The beginning was ok, the middle part was pretty boring to me and the ending part felt more exciting and interesting.👍

I liked this book better than the last Sarah Sutton book I read. I almost thought she would have a cheating aspect in this one, but she didn’t and that made me very happy.
Maisie is pressured into tutoring Connor to help him make up for a math test. This is a slow-burn romance. It starts as frenemies turned into friends then the romance. I loved the slow build. I loved that they became friends first.
This was a good book to help me cleanse the palate and move on to another book. It was light. It was fun. It is everything (minus a few exceptions) that I want to read when I don’t want anything too serious.
I might put the second book on my TBR when I need something light and fluffy. But I should warn you there is a ton of math in this book. I have no idea if it is correct. I hated algebra in high school and barely passed it eleven almost twelve years ago.

I think it took both Maisie and Conner awhile for them to realize they liked each other. With Maisie being with Alex she didn’t see it and Conner not being in a relationship but with Jade kind of and trying to stay popular he was fighting his feelings.
I think he liked her in the beginning when he met her but felt some type of way because he was the one to put her on the list. Madison knew about it but didn’t say nothing. I do hope she Madison gets a book as well and want to know if her and Maisie would be friends again. That would be interesting, especially with Jade not being a good person. That girl seems like a hater and jealous and has a lot of insecurities.
Plus you could tell she didn’t like Maisie even from Freshman year until their Senior year. She took the friendship with Madison to hurt Maisie and Madison wanted to be popular so bad she didn’t care she hurted her best friend. I was glad that she came to realize her mistakes that she made.
Plus Conner also working it out with Maisie was also a good thing. I Also can’t wait to read Ava book with Reed because I’m curious about that one plus also curious about Rachel and who she’ll end up with.

so so happy that my first read of the year was a 5 ✨ book!! Teaching the Teacher’s Pet has all the ingredients of a great Sarah Sutton novel - compelling characters, complicated family dynamics, and swoon-worthy love interests!!
one of my favorite parts of the story is how Maisie and Connor become friends first 💕 it really shows how their connection was built on shared stories and mutual trust
though not without faults, this story kept me smiling and engaged until the very end 🥹 and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, enemies-to-friends-to-more romance 🥰

Every character in this book sucked accept for Maisie. They all should have apologised and grovelled way more for being, pardon my French, complete c*nts to her and the fact she liked Maths🤡

This book is such a fun read. I love it when two characters who are complete opposites fall for the other person. Connor and Maisie are such wonderful characters. I love that Maisie struggles with the pressure of not being artistic. This is super unique because many times people are only praised for being smart in the math or sciences but rather not the arts. Connor's struggles are also extremely real. His backstory is really sweet and sad.
The romance and banter in this book is super duper fun. I love the "love" lessons between Connor and Maisie. The lessons were really cute, but also highlighted how important healthy communication is. Connor is really smart and I like that he is very well known in people fluent in the language of people. The kissing scenes in this book is super adorable. I love that there is so much angst back and forth until it explodes.
The secondary characters of the book are wonderful. I loved how Maisie is close with her family and finally resolves their relationship issues. Connor grows a lot and he becomes a lot less shallow.
In summary, this book is filled with the ton of YA cuteness needed. Go check it out.

The concept of this book and the upcoming series is so unique! The whole “most likely to” concept is so fun, and I’m so excited to see how it plays out in the series. I’m excited to see who stars in future books! Sarah’s books have become some of my favorite romances! They’re super fun and light-hearted to read. I couldn’t put this one down! All of her books have fun and realistic characters with relatable flaws. Every book she writes has the sweetest couples omg. 😭🥹 I liked Maisie and her love for math! I liked seeing her reaction to being put on the most likely to list. The concept of nerds, jocks, and cheerleaders was a bit stereotypical at times, but sweet nonetheless. The enemies to lovers though! I enjoyed seeing Maisie fall for Connor. Also, the character development we saw from her! She goes from “needing” the valedictorian spot to being disappointed at receiving it. I liked Maisie and seeing her discover her passions while struggling with her parent's ideas of what they want her to be! Connor's flaws of the pressure of keeping his image and not letting people see him at his low were a great addition to his character. While Connor wasn’t perfect, he made up for it. Especially at the end of the book. The way he asked her to homecoming!! 🥹 Also, can I just say Alex was a MAJOR red flag. I adore that all of Sarah's books are clean!
There was some light swearing. But only like a minor word. There was nothing passing kissing.

I actually really struggled to like the book in the beginning. Maisie was a bit annoying and I found her to be unnecessarily rude. I get that she was hurting and wanted to make others feel bad instead, but still.
I ended up loving the book though, but I don’t recommend reading this book when you are on holiday otherwise you’ll end up thinking about math😬
I give this book 4.6 stars.

Very well written. I really liked how the author developed the characters in the story so we got to know them very well. This story is fast paced and easy to read with not too much description, just a very good balance of show and tell. I always enjoy her writing style. This story is written for teens but can be enjoyed by any age group. Clean YA romance.

This book had a lot of potential but sadly it didn't fulfill it.
- To begin with we see Maisie a complete math obsessed person - but also someone who isn't embarassed about it.
- Then we have Connor - Star football player, trying to follow his father's footprints of becoming a quaterback and homecoming king, and trying to stay on the toptier (AKA school popular table).
- Ava and Rachel, Maisie friends from freshman year (this book takes place in senior year). Ava runs a gossip blog
- Alex - Maisie's boyfriend
- Madison - Maisie's ex-bestfriend from nextdoor
- Jade - The queen bee, head cheerleader and Connor's girlfriend
- Jozie - Maisie's sister
This book had a lot of drama and could have explored it better. Like the fallout between Maisie and Madison, or the break-up between Alex and Maisie, Maisie relationship with her parent regarding the scholarship and her academics, Conoor's issue with his parents etc. etc.
For instance there is the scene where Maisie is doing Calculus and her mother asks her to help her with the art gallery. The way she does it is not so nice. She says it in a way like you always do math. That's not nice. Do this gallery help. The point here is that Maisie herself states that if it had been Jozie (jozie loves art maisie math and the family is an art family) doing some sketches her mom wouldn't have bothered her. They take up a part of Maisie's college fund for Jozie. Though they did Maisie if it was fine, after that they brushed it up like nothing happened. Never thought of the stress it would put her on. Although the entire thing is ended with a half a page convo.
All I'm saying is things like these could have been explored more.
To the second part that made the book uninterested is that I didn't feel chemistry between Maisie and Connor. They just came off as friends to me. Like there was no sparks between them. I would have loved to seen a few more moments between Connor and his grandmother Joy. Also some Joy and Maisie moments maybe.
Also there is lot of drama going on with Connor's parents. Maybe Connor's POV would have helped us understand more of his feelings.
The love advice Connor gives, that paved way to great tension. But one again nothin happens.
