In this game-changing 100-page companion novella to the New York Times bestselling I Am Number Four series, the Mogadorian invasion of Earth has begun and one teenager's life will be forever changed.
At first, Daniela Morales thought the spaceship attacking New York City on the television was just part of some science fiction movie. Then the horrible truth became clear: it was happening in real life. Aliens do exist, and they were invading the planet.
Unable to reach her mother, Daniela makes it her mission to get to her mom's job downtown to find her. But with the city under fire, trying to make it from her apartment in Harlem to the Financial District proves nearly impossible—until Daniela makes an incredible discovery. When a squad of Mogs get the jump on her, she is somehow able to throw them across the street, using telekinesis. Daniela doesn't know where this power came from or why she suddenly has it, but she is sure as hell going to use it. Aliens are tearing up her city and she'll destroy every last one of them that gets in her way. But when she comes face-to-face with the Garde, will she be a friend or a foe?
I had mixed feelings about Daniela—she was obnoxious at times but I also appreciated her headstrong personality. I liked this novella a lot, but I also wish that the part between "I want nothing to do with this" and "I need to help" had a little more build-up.
Relleno desde el punto de vista de Daniela. No aporta nada nuevo ni relevante, aunque casi muero de risa cuando les dijo que si eran pareja Sam & John <3

HERE WE GO: DESCRIBE HOW YOU WANT SETRAKUS RA DEATH WOULD BE LIKE.
Technically I have myself spoilers by reading this, but I don’t really care. I read this series for fun. I’m not super invested. It’s just easy to get through and the concept is fun. This novella is great. It’s an alien invasion and chosen one all wrapped up in 100 pages. I didn’t love the main character, but I enjoyed watching her survive.
"...You just have to keep fighting and believing. You have to honor the person who’s not there with your actions." -Sam Goode
I've been wary that this might as well took the time when Four was down out cold. Daniela, being frantic and all with regards to the combustion of events toward her life. That seems too fast to be taken care off.
“I’m not giving up on you. I'm going to see you again. But until then, I think I’m going to kick some alien ass. Help some people. Make you proud.”
"I’ll lose my damn mind. I’m going to do some good. I’m going to fight." -Daniela Morales
That was really the circumstances of her POV, huh? I thought I could read more with just the thought of provoking Dani's Legacy. Unlike from what happened in The Fate of Ten. This story how Dani came up with the Garde's battle, was a little off and short, but, yeah, it is a tactful story. Purely revved up with apprehending spirit. With the last book (United as One) approaching, and 2 more novellas coming up, I'm really excited to end the series with a whole lot of pursuit.
I don't understand why Daniella was chosen to have powers while people like Sarah and Mark whom I thought was much, much more deserving doesn't have the only thing that could have given them a fair fighting chance against the war. And I still don't like her.,. She's annoying and she's so full of herself. I hope that in the final book she'll prove her worth.
Daniella starts out her day annoyed at her stepfather, but the Mogodorian invasion reveals hidden powers.
We see Daniella from John and Sam's point of view, but this story lets her fill in the blanks. The viewpoint of a 'civilian' during the invasion is also niece to see.
I get that it's a girl from the Bronx who has lived a hard life. And I can handle a little bit of language. But seriously- I couldn't finish this one. Didn't care enough about her to look past the huge amount of poor language. Did not finish.
Very Honest Opinion: I only read this because it would drive me crazy to have read all the novellas except one. But actually, I barely even read this; I sat down for forty-five minutes and skimmed through it. And to be honest, nothing new really happened… I didn’t need or want this character’s POV but I got it anyway, so by just the second page I KNEW I couldn’t make myself take the time to actually read it closely. Funnily enough, it’s actually taken me 24 hours just to retain the title of this story; nothing about it interested me so I guess my brain decided I didn’t need to remember the name of it. I really really really want to give it one star but because I only skimmed it I feel like I can’t give it that bad of a rating, since I suppose there COULD have been something in it that I would’ve enjoyed had I read more carefully. So I guess we’ll say that my official rating is: {1.5/5 stars}
For Daniella Morales it was just another day, putting up with her insufferable stepfather who won't even buy her new headphones. Next thing she knows, the town is invaded by aliens and her stepfather is shot protecting her. There is no sign of her mother after a phone call to run. Daniella discovers she has developed telekinetic powers when she is faced with danger. Caught up in a bank robbery, which seems pointless in the current situation, she meets John and Sam, who are part of the good aliens she's heard about. This story provides a backstory to how Daniella became a human ally in the Mogadorian war.
This one is from the point of view from Dani. That's nice but we already knew a lot more about her than about any of the other kids getting Legacies since she was the first one to be found. It would have been nice to see how other people actually realised that they had Legacies and what they decided to do with them. It's not like there was no choice, kids have been getting Legacies all over the world so that's hundreds, thousands of possible characters. I find it a bit of a shame that this story only concentrate on the one of them we already know best and that as a result it repeats a lot of what happens in the main series.
Always found her character annoying in about every way….i understand she was meant to be “headstrong city girl” but she came off like an ass 90% and personally if I was John or Sam I would’ve told her to get lost a long time ago (especially since they met her during the start of the war). This book falls into the same category as Mark’s stories where it was backstory for a character nobody cared about. Also I felt like she was written a little racist/stereotypical lol
This one was nothing but a joyless cash grab. Literally the only development we got in this was that Daniela thinks Sam is bottoming for John and that Sam is insecure about that assumption. Other than that we just got a couple different survivor groups looking to her for leadership and her blowing them off to look for her mom.

My least favorite Novella. This is Daniela’s story of the day of the invasion and how she developed her legacy. Maybe I didn’t like it as much as she is a new character and I am not invested in her like I am the others? Or maybe it was just rehashing the same events without providing anything new? Don’t get me wrong, it was good. But not at the same level as the other Novella’s to date.
Fine story though I felt it was unnecessary bc we already knew what happened with Daniela, she had shared that with Four and Sam already in The Fate of Ten. I mean I guess it's to read the POV of a normal human experiencing this invasion and what the city looked like before and during the invasion, how people were reacting. But personally, I got the jist in the last book.
Daniel's quick acquisition of Legacies ("super powers") was well written and her eventual meet-up with John and Sam; I can't imagine what that would be like as she fights her way across a city after witnessing her douchey step-Dad steps up and takes out a Mog.
She battle of the mind, searching for her Mom only leading to a quick and sobering reality that life without her must go on.
Daniela's POV didn't seem all that necessary, and a lot of the book was "telling" and summary as we buzzed through events we read in the last book as they happened. We're obviously going to see more of her in the next book, but she didn't feel like a necessary POV character. The backstory and things that happened in between scenes from the last book didn't really need filling in.
It is an extention of Dani's story. it was pretty decent. Just added more filler to the OG series and I love them so. I just really hate that they reuse material often. like the whole beginning of the OG book (I think this one starts at United as One) we get the beginning of Danis story and thats a bit redundant if you write a novella with the same exact beginning.
Una historia que a pesar de tener partes con un poco de relleno te explica muy bien el punto de vista de Daniela antes y después de conocer a John Smith, me entretuvo y permitió ver el desarrollo de este personaje de una buena forma.
