The competition is over, but their trials have only begun…
Quinn and her friends may have survived the deadly Ethodine and stopped the Sylph queen’s tyrannical schemes—but that victory was just the start. Now they must hold together a fragile alliance of rival clans who barely trust one another—let alone their new fire-wielding queen.
With goblin attacks on the rise and the moonrain drought tightening its grip on the land, tensions heighten. And as the alliance begins to fracture, devastating news wrenches Quinn and Aeron apart, forcing them to choose between their duty to the clans and their hearts.
Then, a sinister villain attacks from the shadows—deadlier than anything they’ve faced before, determined to destroy everything the young rulers have fought to protect.
To stop their foe, Quinn and her friends must embark on a desperate mission filled with magical dangers, daring heists, and enemies at every turn.
If they fail, it won’t just cost them their crowns.
It will cost them their world—and each other.

FULL SERIES: On Wings of Ash and Dust On Wings of Crowns and Chaos On Wings of Smoke and Shadow On Wings of Fire and Fury
Brittany Wang is the author of the young adult fantasy serial series, On Wings of Ash and Dust.
She is also a YouTuber and Author Website Designer who is passionate about helping writers finish their novels, find writing community, & build a platform that grows their readership.
Brittany Wang’s sequel to her book “On Wings of Ash and Dust” needs a standing ovation. Sure, I was sad all the trials ended in book one, but I loved getting to know each character better with all the different POVs. Wang is a master in her craft when it comes to making each characters voice so distinct and different. Wang’s voice alone pulls me in and keeps me turning the pages. “On Wings of Crowns and Chaos” is a beautiful second installment that follows the 5 heirs working together to stop the goblin leader who is in pursuits to overthrow Faylan. One thing leads to another, with one challenging obstacle after the next. Also, the swoon in this book!!! I anxiously await the third book! I’ve included some of my favorite quotes below!
The last thing I want to do is bring up the whale in the room and make things worse.
Like a single beam of light streaming through a dark forest. I wish there was more I could do to cut through the foliage and let in more light for him.
Your voice always matters, [he] says earnestly. You have to believe that. If you don't, no one else will.
"Sometimes all we need is a reassuring hand or a word of encouragement to send the warmth of joy, hope, or gratitude bubbling up inside us again. Then the icy hold of fear or despair melts away."
“A true leader must also take care of them-selves. If someone neglects their own well being, so blind to their own needs that they get to an unhealthy place, how can they effectively lead anyone else?"
I received an ARC copy and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Oh my gosh how much I just adored this book! Thank you so much to Brittany for giving me an advanced reader copy!! This was such a joy to read and I am so excited to go and talk about it with my freinds who will be reading it!! My review is down below:
Ranking: 5⭐️ Author: Brittany Wang About: This is the sequel to On Wings of Ash and Dust, so I can’t talk about what it’s about. But, I will say, this is 100% worth the read. Tropes: Found family, epic quests, multi-POV, more romance.
I loved all of the found family elements. The original crew with Quinn, Hickory, Aeron, Vale, and Alys grew so much. Their dynamic was even better, with so much growth and good memories and time spent together. I also enjoyed how real the feelings were that these characters were having throughout the book. Even if it is a fictional world with fictional characters, the way they all had something going on, and how it was real life feelings associated with their characters and stories, it was amazing to see that, especially as a reader. I love looking for that; that vulnerability that makes me want to continue to read. Jealousy, romantic tensions, trust issues, laughter, betrayal, nostalgia, grief, etc. All good and very real feelings! The characters also interacted so well with each other, and I think that is also what kept me reading. Yes, this was lengthy and it took me a good while. But once I really got into it, and yearned to read these characters once more, it was so worth it!! And also, certain romantic ships grew, in which from that came a lot of squealing from me…
I also enjoyed the addition and growth of new characters! Like Pylo, Tomah, Leera, etc. They really made this book even better. And I cannot tell you how shocked I was at these plot twists! They were insane, and written very well. Very good plot too, as I was very intrigued and I never lost interest. Especially towards the end, I didn’t want to stop reading!! I also enjoyed the ending too, as well as some of the conflicts presented in this book. Usually, I am not a big fan of sequels. But this book exceeded those expectations and made me really enjoy it. This is the true book for a sequel. Very well written and containing to work through the challenges that may come through the characters ways. The ending wasn’t too rushed, and it made me excited for book three and four, that I hope are coming soon!! It was also great to hear from ALL the characters and the use of four more POVs. Really helped me fall even more in love with their character!
Overall, this was such a joy to read and I am so excited for the next two books!
Thank you to the author for my gifted copy. All opinions are my own.
This book is the reason sequels exist! Brittany Wang hit it out of the park. The depth that she wrote the characters is beautiful. The multi-POVs is just what this series needed (not that the single POV from the first book wasn't perfect because it was!). I loved getting to see more of how each character viewed their role in the world and how what was going on affected them all. This book flowed so well from the first book. The twists and turns in the plot kept me so engaged. I cannot wait for the rest of the series. Please do yourself a favor and read this book. You need it in your life!
DNF at 40%, page 275. I received the arc of this and unfortunately this sequel was not for me. The story felt so long and there were a ton of descriptions which I felt myself wanting to skim a lot. I was looking forward to seeing how the prophecy from the end of book one would play out but we spent the first 300 pages on what felt like a side quest that I was not enjoying. I'm really trying not to force myself to read books when I know I'm going to rate it low so I have decided not to finish. This is just my opinion and experience though.
It was a long wait for this sequel but it was so so worth it!!
Brittany put her heart and soul into this series and you can tell. 5 different POVs with an enthralling storyline. So much growth and world building happening in this book compared to the first one.
It’s hard to even put into words the details and story that happens! The friendship that grows, the forbidden romance, the ONE DRAGON SCENE!!?!? It’s perfection.
Thank you so much Brittany for allowing me an Arc. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I received an arc copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Wow wow wow!! This book is so so so good! I love it so much! This book is just beautifully crafted and there are so many twists and turns that keep you turning the page! Highly recommend this book to all book lovers!
What a sequel!! I absolutely loved this book, just as much if not more than book one. We get to know all the characters on a deeper level and you can’t help but love each of them. Every time I thought I knew who my favorite was I’d start the next chapter and it would change. Now that I’ve finished, I still have no clue because I love them all so much. If you haven’t read book one yet, you should change that asap! For those of you who have read book one already, you aren’t ready for the ride book two is going to take you on. Thank you so much to the author for letting me read an arc of book two!
The character development, world building, and Peter Pan references are all wonderful.
There are plot twists you won’t even see coming.
This book isn’t marketed as Christian fiction but if you enjoyed reading C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, D.E. Carlson, or Erin Phillips books with how they weave faith into them then you will definitely love this book.
This was such a wild ride! I adored the 5 POVs from the various clan heirs. Their personality and style was unique enough that it was not confusing at all to differentiate between each! I had SO much fun with this book and read it as a buddy read with a friend. Sharing theories was one of my favorite parts as things unfolded. I can guarantee you will not be bored and the action, adventure, and need to know more will keep you turning the page. Also.. the epilogue is going to sit with me for a while!
5 POVs No spice Adventure + action The Slowwwwest burn Plot twists Prophecies Dragons, pirates, pixies, oh my
This is book two in 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘢𝘺𝘭𝘢𝘯 𝘛𝘳𝘪𝘢𝘭𝘴 and it was so good! I’d been looking forward to this one for a while and did a reread of book one not long before which helped to immerse me into that world once again.
This book starts not long after the first one ended. The Ethodine is over and there are no more trials, but now Quinn and her friends have to figure out how to hold onto their fragile alliance as well as keep their people happy. When one of their group gets blackmailed, they are all forced into a dangerous new journey full of perils, more goblins, and changes they didn’t see coming.
There were some twists that I saw coming but then there was one that I didn’t see until it hit and oh my goodness it was so good!!🤯
I decided to draw this scene from the book because it was the moment I felt like it really reminded me of the Peter Pan/Tinker Bell stories and this is what came to my mind. I’m submitting this for the Faylan fan art contest. Book one is called 𝙊𝙣 𝙒𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝘼𝙨𝙝 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘿𝙪𝙨𝙩 and this one is 𝙊𝙣 𝙒𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝘾𝙧𝙤𝙬𝙣𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙤𝙨
Oh my goodness!! WHAT A BOOK! I have to admit...usually I do not like sequels, but this one was 100/10. I was on the edge of my seat. The character growth, the dialogue, the SLOW BURN ROMANCES!! AAHH amazing!!! I loved every part of it.
I loved jumping back into this world with characters I love so much! 😭 if you haven’t read this series please do. If you love fantasy romance this is the series for you! This author is amazing and I will continue to read all of her books! She writes tension, slow burn, force proximity and stories that are so swoon worthy. She also takes you in so many fun adventures. She makes the characters feel like long lost friends and you get to hang out with them and love them as they develop… ahhhh just a must read no spice romantasy
Every one of this book’s 689 pages was definitely necessary — the story proceeded at a natural pace, slowing down and speeding up, and took the time to explore character and relationship development while also building plot and world complexity. I simply could not put it down. 5 stars for sure!
Seriously cannot wait for this book to be out in the world so more people can fall in love with it. This was a wonderful continuation of the story that began in On Wings of Ash and Dust. Having the chance to be inside the POVs of all five heirs made the experience so much better. The world building, character development, and twists are all superb! Be sure to add this to your TBR for 2026! I read an early version of this book. All opinions are my own.
🔥I was SO excited to jump back into the world of Faylan and continue the story after On Wings Of Ash and Dust! But this time with all 5 POVs of the clan heirs! It has all the same vibes as the first installment of found family, adventure, fighting against the odds, and working together. It’s so cool to see the growth of each character as they develop their magic and learn how to work better together and well as some new romance blooming…

The world-building in this book is amazing! I loved getting to explore new magic and deeper backstory that builds naturally on what was introduced in the first book. There are more POVs this time around, and I was a little nervous at first about keeping everyone straight, but Brittany does a great job giving each narrator a unique voice.
I can’t wait for everyone to read this one, and I’m excited to see what Brittany writes next!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (is it illegal to put more stars?) Wow. I don’t even know where to start… first of all, this book pulled me out of a reading slump, and I was so incredibly honored to have received an early ARC of it. That being said, this was an absolutely amazing read! I’m not kidding—I couldn’t put it down. It has the same action, the same characters, and the same fantastic world-building from the first book… and somehow it might be even better? If that’s even possible. The characters in this book are super fleshed out and relatable, and because we get chapters from several POVs, it’s so easy to get into their headspaces and really empathize with what they’re going through. The world-building continues to be incredibly crafted and detailed, and it only expands from the first book in this magical continuation. The found family in this book was so sweet, and you really get to see the heirs working together and figuring out how they all fit into their new roles—which was really intriguing, especially considering the social standards of certain clans (set up in the first book, but even more fleshed out here). I love all of the platonic relationships throughout this book, and how friendships are shown to be just as—if not more—important than romantic relationships. That being said… THE ROMANCE?!?!?? Every single pairing took my breath away and was literally so swoon-worthy. I really have to bite my tongue to keep this review spoiler-free, because the romances in this book were honestly some of my favorite parts. Just know—if you love dramatic, high-stakes, yet adorable romances, THIS IS FOR YOU. Overall, I couldn’t recommend this book more, and I’m so excited for the world to finally get their hands on this beautiful story crafted by the very talented Britney Wang (who also just happens to be the sweetest person?). PS. This book may have made me cry… but also, if you know me (or my reviews), you know I kinda cry at everything. STILL. GO READ THIS BOOK!!! ✨✨✨
Received an early copy of the book, my opinions are my own.
Okay so I definitely read this faster than the ARC readalong we were meant to be doing… but honestly, how could I not?? Getting to be an ARC reader for this book was a literal dream, and I was not about to pace myself when I had it sitting right there.
Brittany Wang’s ability to completely immerse me in her world will never stop amazing me. The way this book builds on the foundation of the first one?? Insane. Everything felt bigger, higher stakes, deeper emotions, more intensity, and I was hooked from the very first chapter 🥲
The character development in this one was honestly phenomenal. You can really feel how much each character has grown, and the relationships between them feel even more layered and meaningful. The emotional moments hit so much harder because of that, and I found myself so much more attached to everyone.
And the plot?? I genuinely don’t know how she does it. Every time I thought I had a sense of where things were going… nope. Completely wrong. Again. The pacing was so addictive, and I kept telling myself “just one more chapter” until suddenly I was way further ahead than I was supposed to be in the readalong 😅
ALSO… the “one dragon” micro trope?? I’m unwell. Obsessed. That kind of dynamic will always get me, and the way it was done here just added another layer of tension that I ate up completely.
This book just delivers on everything, world-building, characters, tension, twists, and leaves you needing the next book immediately. Like I am not okay sitting here waiting.
Highly, highly recommend adding this to your Goodreads ASAP (and if you haven’t started book one yet… what are you doing??)
Multiple POVs ✔️ Suspense ✔️ Emotional vulnerability & tension ✔️ Use of vivid language ✔️ Already waiting for the next book to come out! ✔️
Adding multiple POVs was a great way to add more depth to the already deep character dynamics. As the chapters progressed, so did my heart towards each of the characters and their abilities, situations and relationships.
The suspense the author, Brittany Wang, builds in the dynamic action scenes honestly had me either on the edge of my seat, or whipping through the pages to stay pace! I won’t lie, a few were so intense (in a good way!) that I had to set the book down, process and come back. No spoilers, but there were multiple gasp out loud moments.
Building emotional vulnerability and tension within the characters is one the authors strong points. Each character is intertwined with another - whether in friendship, misguided trust, complex love and the list goes on. If honest with ourselves, we can relate in multiple ways to each of them.
The use of vivid language is insane. The way Brittany builds upon her first book and continues to create more imagery, more fae language and more to Faylan is remarkable. Every detail you can imagine is explained- landscape, clothing, Faylan traditions, emotions, architecture, I can go on and on. It’s not just simple imagery, it’s you’re a character in her book that moment, imagery.
As I wait for the next book, you know I’ll be rereading the first and second. Another thing: listen to the audiobooks! The narrators are fantastic.
This sequel of The Faylan Trials series by Brittany Wang absolutely delivered! There were moments of sadness, happiness, triumph, pride and suspense. Book 2 is the follow up to “On Wings of Ash and Dust” to which the Faylan trials are complete, but early on in book 2 we see there are a lot of troubles ahead for Quinn and her friends. Instead of having one POV like the first book, we have five POV which were written beautifully. Each POV is distinct and you find yourself feeling more connected to each character. I’ve experienced that sometimes with multiple POV novels there’s a little overlap that gets annoying but there’s none of that in this novel – where one POV ends, the next one picks up.
This is a big book, but the pacing is good and doesn’t lag anywhere. It felt like each chapter had another jaw dropping revelation that the characters had to work through together. It was refreshing to see the friendship continue to grow between the five main characters, with the addition of some side characters, including a dragon with a slight attitude but a big heart. I thought I had a favorite character but with the multiple POV I have a hard time picking just one because each one has qualities I really admire. Like the first book, the end of this book surprised me, and I had more questions about what was going to happen to Quinn and her friends. We’ve got mystery, fantastic world building, dragons, found family, a little bit of swoon…. what more could you ask for? Top marks in my opinion!
This sequel absolutely delivers everything I hoped for – and then some.
On Wings of Crowns and Chaos (sequel to On Wings of Ash and Dust) raises the stakes in every possible way. What begins as the aftermath of victory very quickly spirals into something far more complex and devastating. The fragile alliance between rival clans feels tense and realistic, and watching Quinn navigate leadership as a fire-wielding queen under constant pressure made her character even more compelling.
The emotional core of the story really shines here. The separation between Quinn and Aeron hit hard, adding a layer of heartbreak that perfectly balances the action and intrigue. The struggle between love and duty felt authentic anf gut-wrenching without overshadowing the larger plot. And speaking of plot – this book does not slow down. Between goblin attacks, political fractures, danger, and a shadowy new villain, the pacing is relentless in the best way. The addition of multiple POVs adds depth to the world and keeps the tension high, especially as secrets unravel and loyalties are tested.
What I loved most was how the story blends high-stakes adventure with quieter, emotional moments. The no spice romance is perfectly done in a world where spice is prominent. It was tender, aching, and full of longing and yearning.
If you’re a fan of YA fantasy who loves rich world-building, complex relationships, twists…this series is for you. Just be warned; the ending will leave you SCREAMING for the next installment.
🔥 Crowns will fall. Hearts will break. And nothing is safe. 🔥
Well she did it again! Brittany has created another amazing story full of adventure and heart. The only drawback for me was that I felt it started out a little slow but I understand that it was all needed to set up the story and what was to come, and as soon as the story got going it did not stop until the end. The worst part was that it had to end at all and now I have to wait for book 3. What did I love about this book, though? Well quite a lot! I loved all the extra point of views it really helped to flesh out the rest of the characters and I could not imagine this story being told any other way then in all our favorite heirs voices. On Wings of Crowns and Chaos really let us get to know all the heirs and I loved getting to see how they have all come together and the family that they have created together. Multi-pov books can be hard to read and write I know that, but Brittany has done a great job of giving each character a distinct and relatable voice that makes you happy to hear from everyone. I cannot wait to see more of Alys and Tomahs story and see what's next for our leaders of Faylan in book 3.
I recieved an advance reader copy of this book but this review and all thoughts within it are my own opinions.
⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ 4.5 stars, rounded up to 5 🧚♀️ Fae romantasy 🌶️ No-spice, romance(s) is one of the main plots, focused on the emotional aspect 💬 None, in-world cuss words only ❗ Death, murder, violence, threats (all non-graphic, mildly descriptive) . My thoughts: What a great sequel! The first book in this series was awesome, with wonderful character arcs, and this one is no different! Our cast still has a lot to deal with (both internally and externally) and you can't help but cheer them on at all times! The riddles and plot twists are everywhere and I already can't wait for the next installment so I can get some more answers! One little thing I wished for were more interactions between characters outside of their romances. Don't get me wrong, I loved all the yearning and tention and cute moments, but I adore sisterly and brotherly love rep just as much! 😊💕 . On Wings of Crowns and Chaos comes out on April 10th, so keep on eye out for it! You can preorder it right now and even get some extra goodies when you order directly from the author 🤩✨ Thank you SO MUCH to Brittany for giving me an advanced copy of this book 🥳💗 All opinions expressed are my own.
BRAVO! Wang does such an incredible job of weaving intricate storylines with heartfelt friendships and some extra romance in this book! The audiobook was brilliant, highly recommend listening to it! The multi POVs were perfect and I enjoyed hearing from the other characters. The new POVs really added in a great layer to the story. Adding them was such a great move! There was tension & romance. Friendship & sisterhood. I loved all the relationships in this book. The story flowed so well from start to finish. I devoured it. It never lagged or got too convoluted like some fantasy books can do. The flow of the reveals and the next adventures worked well and were well paced. I thought I’d miss the action of the trials from the first book but this book was still just as action packed and entertaining. Overall, it actually reminded me of the Percy Jackson books, just with more romance. The style of writing and the way the audiobook specifically was done just took me back to reading those Percy Jackson books, which I loved!! This series is a must read.
Hickory is probably my current favorite character. But I love all the journeys all the main characters are on to learn more about who they are. Great lessons for us even!
I had the privilege of being an ARC reader for Brittany Wang's On Wings of Crowns and Chaos. After the exciting cliffhanger of Book 1, I was counting down the days for this sequel—and it did not disappoint!
What I loved:
The Multi-POV: Brittany brings us deep into each character's psyche. Seeing the same situations play out through different perspectives made the emotional stakes feel significantly higher. It was heart-wrenching at times and amusing at others.
Character Growth: This isn’t just an adventure; it’s a story of internal healing. Watching the characters transition from insecurity to a place of trust in friendship and love was incredibly moving.
The "Clean" Fantasy Element: It is so refreshing to find a high-stakes adventure that is "no spice" while still maintaining plenty of romantic tension and heart.
The ending left me with so many questions about Quinn, Aeron, Alys, Vale, Hickory, Tomah, and the rest of the cast. I am already theorizing where the storyline will go in Books 3 and 4! I highly recommend starting this series today. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thank you so much to Brittany Wang for this ARC! • I loved reentering the world of Faylan and, just like last time, I'm sad to have left. I adore this faerie world with the different clans and atmospheres. But probably my favorite thing about this world, my favorite thing in most books, are the connections between the characters. In the first book, the story was told from a single pov as the five heirs to their respective clans went from rival competitors to friends. Now, in this book, not only are they the best of friends, but they are a team trying their best to lead a divided kingdom together. They're each other's biggest supporters. The found family the five of them have created is so special to me. Even through potentially divisive external circumstances and internal conflict, they never stop being a team fighting their battles together. The three different romances in this book are all so sweet with moments of elation, heartbreak, and everything in between. I can't wait to see how things progress in the next book as we enter uncharted territory in more ways than one.
This book was easily 5 stars! A perfect sequel to On Wings of Ash and Dust. The story drew me in immediately and was so much fun to read. My jaw dropped so many times at the plot twists! If you like: 🧚Fairies 🏴☠️Pirates 🌹A little forbidden romance 🧑🧑🧒🧒Found family 🔥Crazy magic 🐉Dragons 🤯Crazy plot twists ✨Peter Pan AND Tinkerbell vibes This book is 100% for you. It made me laugh, cry, smile, and gasp many many times. This book even has 5 povs of every main character! It drew me in even more being able to see the thoughts a struggles of all the characters it made me feel even deeper for each of them and I easily fell even more in love with them. Plus 3 different romancess!! Overall I loved this book and these characters so much. If you haven’t read the first book do so immediately so you can jump right into this one:)
I had the pleasure of ARC reading On Wings of Crowns and Chaos for Brittany.
This book was amazing! I loved the storyline, especially the one with Quinn and Aeron. It was so well done!
On Wings of Crowns and Chaos had so many twists and turns I didn’t see coming. I love that I never knew what was coming next; it made the whole time reading so much more enjoyable.
I loved the multiple POVS from everyone because it gave you the full story and not just part of the story.
This book is definitely thrilling! I loved every minute reading it.
I would have loved to see more moments between Hickory and Vale. They have become my favorite characters of this series.
This is a no-spice romance, but still with all the swoony moments.
