Dual Virgins! First, last and only EVERYTHING!

Quote (I wish all heroes felt this way about their one true love),
What gets me off more is knowing that my wife and I will get to
explore all these things together. That only I will ever know her
body, and she will be the only one to ever know mine.
end quote.

Quote,
"You don't know how people hit on each other?" He shrugs.
"Seriously, Blake?" I roll my eyes. He did go to college.
"Those things don't matter to me."
"Well, yeah, now they shouldn't."
"Ever," he corrects, his eyes searching my face. "Truly, you do
know I have never dated or been with a woman, right?" I open and
then close my mouth. Now it's me that’s shocked by what he's
saying. "I have always been loyal to you." Tears sting my eyes.
"Honey, please don't cry." He cups my cheeks and places kisses all
over my face. "It's always been you."
"It's always been you too," I tell him, hoping that for once, my
best friend is completely wrong about Blake.
end quote.

Safe
No cheating
No OM
Unwanted OW attention (Emily replaced his usual assistant and he doesn't like her. What is so endearing is he doesn't know when he is being hit on, so he never clued into the fact that the OW wanted him. He never had any interest in anyone except for Truly!)
No OM/OW comparisons
Long separation (Our lovebirds knew each other since they were young. She had a crush on him, he liked her and fell in love with her before knowing what love is, once they grew up. She was in college in Europe while he was in the US working as CEO of his company. They were married before she was sent away, but sending her away wasn't his doing. His and her family conspired to feed lies to both. Truly thinks her husband is a workaholic that feels nothing for her and Blake thought that Truly wanted to live the college life on her own, and would be the first to contact him if she wishes, and so he respected that and it saddened him. My gripe with that is she DID contact him a few times and he never responded back, which made me frown and it was never explained why.)
No gross condom use
No stupid third act break up (there is uncertainty floating in her head about Blake, but she squashes these thoughts with the many moments of how he spoiled her and showed her he loves her)
HEA
This had angst in the first act and beginning of the second act of the book. It is mellowed out with sweetness but I have three gripes about this story that if changed would have made the story a 5 star read rather than a 4.

So, this is the story of Truly and Blake. They knew each other as kids, and their families arranged their marriage. She was fresh out of high school and he isn't that much older. She had a crush on him and he loved her before knowing what love was. The only person who mattered to him was his grandpa. She was shipped to Europe for college and was left alone and ignored by both her family and Blake. She was sad, thinking that all he wanted was her hand in marriage which opened doors to more business ventures to make him richer. Blake is a savvy business man but was told by her family that Truly wanted to live alone for a while before settling into married life. He did keep tabs on her, unable to live completely without her until her return home, but he tried his best to give her what she wanted and not interfere. These misunderstanding made them feel sad and unwanted.
The book starts when Truly sneaks into his life, barges in his office and plops down divorce papers. He is stunned to see her beautiful face and shocked that she wants a divorce. He gets upset and they argue. He puts his foot down and gives her a deal. She lives with him for a year as a married couple should, and they can discuss divorce after that year is up (he never had intentions of divorcing, he only promised they would talk about it knowing he NEVER planned on letting her go.) Meanwhile his plan was to make her understand that she is all he ever wanted and was planning a life with her. That was the biggest hurdle, and the next was to figure out why she felt that way when she wanted according to her parents, to live on her own for a while. He figured it must have been lies from a third party. Both her family and his family were in cahoots.
The book is them clearing the air, her showing him how hurt she was and how abandoned she felt and him kicking himself for not busting through the doors of the college to see her. He did keep tabs on her though. He should have asked her personally what she wanted rather than hear it and believe it from her family. What I didn't like is that she DID reach out to him, but he didn't respond, which makes no sense because he didn't communicate with her unless she called first, which she did. It was never brough up as to why he ignored her emails and calls. He just decided to not respond even though the whole point of him keeping away is because he thought that is what she wanted, so he should have immediately responded. I just don't think it was all the parents fault as much as I hate them. He ignored her emails and calls, and that's on him.
They clear the air, experience their firsts happily, and then Blake seeks revenge on her parents. It is because of their lies that he stayed put only working and waiting for his beloved. All is well that ends well with a sweet epilogue, but I have a couple more gripes. I did not like that Truly thought to move on and find love possibly elsewhere once she got the divorce she wanted. I know she was mad and hurt, maybe she didn't mean it when she expressed it in her inner monologue in the first chapter of the book, but I hated that she expressed thoughts of moving on and finding love elsewhere. The third thing that irked me is that there was a whole conversation with Mabel (her best friend), that neither said the magical words, 'I love you', to each other. Well at the end of the last chapter we get this,
Quote,
"I love you," I tell him. "I always have."
"And I have always belonged to you." Blake presses his mouth to
mine.
end quote.
I wanted him to say those words back! He never did. I believe that he loves her and he says it in his inner monologue, but it feels incomplete to me when one says it and the other doesn't. It's one of those things that just bothers me along with the two other things that bothered me which is why it's a 4 and not a perfect 5. The fact that he just decided for a year to ignore her and that he didn't respond when she reached out to him and the inner monologue of her wanting to put him behind and go find love elsewhere plus him not saying the words "I love you too" back. All these things made me frown but them experiencing all their firsts made me grin ear to ear!
I did love how devoted he was when she crossed the threshold of his office intent on unrelentingly proving himself to her. I loved how he tried to show her that he loved her his whole life and he is kicking himself for forcing himself to ignore her, and I do love that he regrets these years lost. The interaction between them in the second and third act of the book was all sweetness and he never intended on letting her go. He saw himself finally being with his wife, finally living and starting a family with her as he has always dreamed. He did say many swoon worthy things that made me smile. Knowing Lucy Darling, I know that her "wanting to move on" is just her anger and hurt because the only man she ever loved was Blake. She never so much as looked at another man but I didn't care that thought of moving on even crossed her mind. There were many positives in the book that makes the read worth it.
Them being first timers, young love that experience everything for the first time together, for me that always reigns supreme! If you like second chance/separation romances then I do recommend it! I don't really like them in general and that's ok. I always love Lucy Darling and I cannot wait for her next book!
Happy reading!

Blake’s a complete asshole, the FMC has BBS and the writing isn’t so great. 🙃

Doesn’t matter if it’s dual virgins if the characters suck!!! I think I need to face the fact that this author isn’t for me.

‘There is only one place I truly want to be. I just hope that maybe Truly could one day want me there too.’

truly and blake. 🥹 okay this was so cute. blake was so smitten by her and i loved how from the beginning he acknowledged her as his wife. even though she didn’t believe him, he really proved himself. he’s such a sweetheart, always reassured her, owned up to his mistakes, and even though they were apart for quite some time in the beginning, he stayed loyal to her. i loved how he pushed her to express herself, no matter what others thought. 🥹 the ending was such a cute little cherry on top, just made the story so much cuter. 🥹

"I promise you, Truly, that when it comes to you, I'm far from cold."

‘I want to take care of my wife and all her needs, and I'll do whatever I have to so that all her dreams come true.’

‘She’s mine. Always has been and always will be. Nothing and no one will ever change that.’

‘We are each other's home from now until forever. No one will ever come between us again.’

I like the premise of this one. Estranged spouses. The pining, the misunderstandings, the sense of abandonment that blooms into understanding and intimacy. I enjoyed it a lot.

Due to family negotiations and agreements, Blake and Truly get married but separated immediately. When she confronts him with divorce papers long after, sparks fly and truths come to the surface. Exciting!

I had fun because of these secrets and wrongdoings that were done to them. They still pine for each other but there's banter and naughtiness before they get their happily ever after. Very cute (and hot).
With a touch of conflict and revenge, it has a sweet ending that makes up for Blake and Truly's lonely years. The epilogue is so nice. I'm curious about the friend's story now.

Truly and Blake

After years of being ignored by her husband, Truly was determined to start over and the first thing she needed to do was serving her husband with divorce papers.
But things are not as they seem and when her husband refuses to grant her the divorce and insist of making up for lost time, Truly can't stop thinking about what it could mean to have a loving relationship

Truly
Blake

New series by Lucy Darling

Truly and Blake got married 4 years ago, known each other since childhood, it was arranged when they were young they were to get married when they were both over 18

Truly goes to college and Blake runs the family company, however, their parents spread lies to each of them and it keeps them apart for the 4 years since they signed the marriage certificate

Truly tried to text and call Blake but got no answer during college- nothing else said about this once mentioned and he never mentioned it so guessing he never knew

Truly wants a divorce at the start of the book when she goes to Blake’s company and he says he wants a year with her living with him so they can try fix it

Separation-they married 4 years ago on paper never seeing each other but they didn’t see each other really before that

OW Drama- His assistant Emily wants him

Dual Virgins- They only have ever wanted each other

Can’t wait for Mabel’s story!

Super cute, actually liked the misunderstanding in this book. The h has always been in love with the H, and is in an arranged marriage with him. But he hasn’t been in contact with her since she left for college, so she shows up to his office with divorce papers. She thinks he doesn’t want her and that he is forced to marry her.
The H is obsessed with the H, has her tracked and been keeping his eyes on her all those years. He’s always loved her, but due to an misunderstanding from their parents, he tries to give the h space to go to college.

Loved H obsession with the h.

Safety:
- Dual virgins
- Some owd: H assistant wants him, but he’s so consumed by the h that he doesn’t even notice the things the assistant does - but when he does, she gets what she deserves (and more)
- No omd
- Seperation a couple of years when the h is away for college, the H stalks her and keeps tracks of her. They are married during this time. Both virgins when they meet after the separation.

-dual pov
-no om drama
-arranged marriage (they've been married for 4 years)
-both virgins
-ow caused a bit of drama (the H had no interest in her)
-no cheating
-I didn't understand why the hero believed the h's parents if he knew that they were not good people, he didn't like them, especially her father, but he just took what her parents told him at face value, that didn't make sense to me, if he was so obsessed with the h like he said he should've talked to her (they fed him lies, they told him that the h wanted to finish college and have an independent life before settling down, so for 4 years they didn't see each other, he kept tabs on her but never talked to her, he never asked her what she wanted)
-epilogue: few years later -married with a kid and another on the way

A new series by Lucy Darling? Yes please!!! An arranged marriage with a growly alpha and a super sweet but sassy heroine, I’m all in. This book was really enjoyable, I read it in one sitting. Blake basically ignored Truly, allowing her to finish school and live her life because she married him when she was so young. But Truly didn’t see it that way. She felt abandoned and it broke her heart, she loved her Bear. Divorce was her solution. Then she could start her life. But those papers and storming into Blake’s office woke the hibernating bear and there was no way he was going to lose his wife, the love of his life. So good. Hopefully Mabel’s story is next.

I love Lucy Darling's stories. Her writing style is both easy to read and funny. This was an entertaining read that had a misunderstanding at the core of it. The misunderstanding is not the direct fault of either the MMC or the FMC. There is some angst and drama, but it is explained earlier on. I wish the resolution after the bathroom scene had happened on page.

This book is a little more serious than Lucy Darling's rom coms. I love Truly and Blake. Both have been lied to by their parents causing them to be apart while Truly was in college. Truly is such a sweetheart and I liked seeing her stand up for herself. Blake and Truly are a good couple and I felt angry in their behalf. Glad to see the manipulative people had consequences of their actions. Lucy Darling is a must read author for me and I'm always excited to read a new book from her.

Notes for me

Blake

Truly

Married 4 years but haven’t see each other even before that. Marriage was business only so Blake could take over. He’s never been to see her once at her school overseas.

Story opens with her outside his office building with divorce papers. She borrowed her friend’s passport to get there.

Their parents had given both of them bad information.

Safety

Both each other’s one and only!

His new assistant is interested but he never notices.

Til Death Do Us Apart

This new series by Lucy promises to be excellent. The first book—featuring Blake and Truly—boasts a fantastic plot: a marriage that appears to be one of convenience, in which their parents have influenced them to remain apart. But when Truly shows up at Blake’s office asking for a divorce, he knows the time has come to claim his wife—and he won't let anyone stand in his way.

Sweetness, insecurities, long term love

Truly and Blake’s story is a slow burn, spicy and slightly different type of romance. They are actually already married when the book starts. She has been studying away for years and they have had no contact. A request for a divorce is denied.
Truly is a strong, sweet young woman, Blake is a man in love.
External angst, some humour and a HEA epilogue

Honestly, I really liked this story. I totally understood where Truly was coming from with hoping that they’d find love with one another as time went on. But it just wasn’t happening. And Blake was so confusing. Wanting her so much but treating her like crap… this story was good, but it didn’t flow as smoothly as it could have. I’d really love to see this go through another round of editing to really pull this together.

'There isn't a chance in hell he’ll ever let Truly go. Even if it requires blackmail, he doesn't care. Now he’ll become the devil if he has to. Because she was always meant to be Truly his.'

The characters were very appealing. Plot was intriguing. World building was solidly drawn. All in all a very good read. Recommend.

An absolute banger of a book.😌We did not have to wait long at all for both of their crushes to come back full force and give us all the smut! Truly and Blake were so in love, and it was so fun seeing them face all the stuff their families made difficult and choose each other every time. Loved the story, loved the couple, adored the ending.💕🌷

true love and misconceptions

This book was totally about true love and misconceptions. Truly didn’t believe the boy she loved could possibly love her back and Blake, her husband, would do absolutely anything for her. She wanted a divorce and he wanted a second chance to make things right. And ohhhhh he did!!! Good read!

Love this new series! Truly has been married to Blake for a few years. Both been manipulated and lied to by their own parents to keep them apart. When Truly was tired of being married in paper and wants a divorce, it forced Blake to make his move finally. Unrequited love from both sides, some misunderstanding and a lot of heat makes a great book! I can’t wait for the next one!

A Lucy Darling Original!

A classic LD book. But while Truly was sweet and innocent, she had some bite to her. She wasn’t afraid to speak up for herself nor did she let others do it for her. And Blake was your obsessed hero, moving mountains for his wife, with eyes only for her. Loved it as expected!

I love that Blake and Truly found the right path together after they started talking and cleared up their misunderstandings. Sometimes we think it's not so important to communicate everything in a relationship, but that's how they got into this mess. I love how intense Blake is, and how Truly is developing the same patience he's always had for her.

Truly Horrendous.

How on earth is this epic catastrophe of a “book” written by a “USA Today Bestselling Author?” The claim to fame obviously has little value based on this poorly written, crudely edited schlock. One dimensional characters, ridiculous plot and pathetically cringey dialogue. A complete joke from start to finish.
