Troy thought leaving Chicago was the only way to survive it.

Six years ago, he walked away from the city, from the ghosts that haunted every street, and from the man who had once been the closest thing he had to home. He swore he would never come back. But when old wounds drag him home, Troy finds himself under the same roof as Declan again — older, harder, and far more dangerous to his peace of mind than before.

Declan has spent years trying to keep his life controlled, disciplined, and clean. A former fighter with blood on his hands and grief carved into his bones, he knows exactly how fragile peace can be. He also knows Troy is the one line he should never cross. The one temptation he should have buried long ago.

But Chicago has teeth, and the past does not stay dead.

As buried secrets claw their way to the surface and a threat from the shadows turns deadly, Troy and Declan are forced into close quarters where old resentment, raw need, and forbidden longing become impossible to ignore. What starts as tension becomes obsession. What should have stayed unspoken turns into something neither of them can stop.

In a city of black ice, bloodied loyalties, and neon-lit betrayal, wanting the wrong person might be the most dangerous thing of all.

Neon Snow is a dark MM romantic thriller featuring forbidden desire, messy emotional tension, high heat, danger, violence, and a hard-won HEA.

I will admit, I took a few days to decide if I was going to let myself read this. I love Greyson Vale's books but it was the suggestion of violence, which, having read the previous two in the series, I wondered if I was ready for at the moment. I'm glad I thought about it, considered myself but I am also incredibly glad I said 'yes.' This book has blown my mind in the best possible way.

Yes, it's dark, taboo and violent but none of that is out of place, gratuitous or otherwise inappropriate. The trigger warning is there for a reason, this isn't a gentle romance but it is an incredibly rewarding one, for the characters and the reader. Be thoughtful of your own state of mind and maybe do what I did. Grab it and simply wait for the right moment.

When Troy returns to Chicago, from London, for what he tells himself is a visit to finally let the past rest, he is partly truthful. He does want to let the past that led him to leave be put to rest, he does want to finally tie up loose ends. What he isn't sure about is whether the anger he has harboured towards Declan, his stepfather, will still be there. It is. They seem to be able to only argue and rile one another up, at least to begin with, then gradually, it changes. That gradual soon slips into fast forward mode and they go straight in for it all. It's not always pretty or nice but it's honest, its them.

Then there is the issue of the person who seems to be targeting one or both of them and until it is revealed who it is the reader is left wondering as much as the characters are. I loved the way the different lines of the story wove around one another, interconnecting so subtly at times that suddenly there were revelations I didn't see coming. I admit that once I started reading it became very addictive. I have no problem with any of the content, it all comes together to make a story which, at times, took my breath away and at others had me fanning myself.

The snow is neon, it glows like a beacon, as does the passion, in all its forms. If you like your books dark, edgy, fast-paced and still romantic this is one for you. Give it a try. Meet the Sentinels then maybe try the other books in the series too.

4.5/5

I read the first two books of this series, so when I saw that there would be a third book, I was really excited, and once again, Greyson Vale did not disappoint.

The main characters, Troy and Declan, have a lot of (shared) history, and therefore their own way of looking and coping with what happens.
One thing they have in common is violence.
Declan is a professional fighter, who knows all the technical stuff there is to know about it. He analyses his opponent, and uses their weak spots against them. For him it is a way to cope with all his complex feelings (for Troy)
For Troy, violence is survival. Due to his work for Luca and The Sentinals he often finds himself in the line of danger, and has learned how to protect himself.

Both Troy and Declan are complex men, and I think the book and their story portrays that perfectly. Their road wasn’t easy, but it would have been weird if it would’ve been, and it’s so worth reading.

The side characters also added a lot of depth to the story, because they also had their own lives and their own stories. I also liked seeing some of the characters from the previous books in the series, although the book can definitely be read as a stand-alone.

I also really like the setting of the book. Getting out of London for once, but still kinda including it in the story was definitely a good move.
This book completely sucked me into the story and its setting, making me feel like I was with them in Chicago, and watching it unravel.
Especially Declan’s fighting scenes were so well written, it felt like I was sitting in the public, while also reading his mind.

Overall I really enjoyed reading this book, and I would definitely recommend it.
Another really great book, by a really great author.

When Greyson Vale gives us a new Sentinel book, I think I bet this will be great, but I won't love it as much as x and x. Not only do I love them more, but they consume me. Troy and Declan cannot and should not work. They watched each grow and change but now they are strangers with lives that neither fully understands. Troy is chaotic and impulsive yet calculated and perfectly lethal. Declan is order and love but he craves the things that he shouldn't, that he didn't know would change his entire world. But the worlds that both have built are colliding fast and they need all hands on deck to handle the threat. But when something that's chasing them but becomes a face of trust, it begins to crumble what has been built. The web that is woven throughout this story will have you questioning everything you thought you knew. It will have you flipped turned upside down with a few men that I've loved over the past few months, a few surprises, a strong man in lace, and a love that defies all norms we've accepted. The past often influences the future but sometimes the past is just the past. A time before you become the person you were meant to be with the partner that sets your heart on fire and soul free.

Troy needed a break from his work with The Sentinels and has returned to Chicago and his step-father's house. He's never really gotten along with his step-father as he resented him for surviving after his mother's death. He's been gone seven years but now he's noticing his step-father in ways that aren't considered appropriate. Declan does his best to welcome Troy home but with little result. He's never been attracted to men but he's having trouble ignoring his reaction to Troy. Suddenly Troy is attacked and Declan’s protective instincts bring physical intimacy that only grows. As the attacks escalate now targeting both men they get even closer. The action picks up substantially in the second half of the novel as the rest of The Sentinel team arrives. Certainly a story that breaks the boundaries of what society considers acceptable family relationships, but is it really any different for relationships with significant age gaps?.

I went into Neon Snow expecting intense, and I got that but I also got something more tender than I anticipated.

Troy comes back to Chicago after six years away, back to the house where his stepfather, Declan still lives. What unfolds between them is messy and complicated and absolutely gripping. I loved how Greyson didn't clean anything up—these two have history, real scars, and the push-pull between them felt authentic rather than manufactured.

The tension builds beautifully, both the romantic kind and the dangerous kind. There's a thriller element running through the whole thing, and Vale balances the two threads really well.

A few things to know:
This is explicit, it's violent in places, and the central relationship involves a stepfamily dynamic. Not a book for everyone, but if you're okay with those elements, it's a hell of a read.

This is the third book in the Sentinel Code series, and while you could probably follow the main plot without reading the previous ones, the emotional weight lands so much better if you know the world and the supporting cast going in.

Neon Snow - Greyson Vale

I love this authors characters. They always have such great chemistry and
Troy and Declan no exception to that rule. I loved getting to know these characters and seeing more of their history. I have so much fun reading scenes with the whole group. I really do love that we see it so recurring characters. I really do like this series and I can’t wait to read more from the author.

Captivating doesn't even begin to cover it. I was consumed. 😤🖤

Troy and Declan. Stepfather and stepson. Separated for 7 years — until something pulls Troy back to his hometown. That feeling in your gut that won't leave you alone no matter how far you run from it. 😮‍💨💔

And of course — Declan is still there.

The loss of Troy's mom and Declan's wife had already shaped them both long before the reunion — leaving wounds that never fully healed and feelings that were never fully dealt with. Just buried. Suppressed. Festering quietly beneath the surface. 😤🖤 And being back together? Rips all of it wide open.

This story is packed. 😤 Raw, gutting emotions that ambush you when you least expect it, a mysterious killer who is always frustratingly, deliciously two steps ahead — keeping you on the edge of your seat the entire time — and pining so thick and so agonizing you'll be screaming at the pages. 😭👀

And when it finally, finally evolves into something more? 🔥😈 Hot doesn't even scratch the surface.

But can we talk about the lace? 🫦😮‍💨 The images my dirty little mind conjured up had absolutely no business being that vivid. And yet. Here we are. Zero regrets. 😏🖤

This one lingers. Long after the last page. 🖤

Troy is a Sentinel, part of a shadow organization run by a former crime boss that steps in where others can’t. But he needs out of London to clear his head of the issues he left behind in Chicago six years ago. He and Declan spark the minute he walks into his stepfather’s house and despite the hatred he feels toward Declan over his mother’s dying when Declan didn’t, he can’t stay away from him. The attraction burns to bright to ignore on both sides. And now danger looms in the shadows and they have to work together to survive it.
This is another perfect dark, gritty, emotional, steamy release as book 3 in the series. If you like dark romantic thrillers with plenty of spice you will love Neon Snow

4/5 star read-

I love Greyson. His ability to write such thrilling books always leaves me amazed.

Neon Snow, like all his books, was damn amazing.

I'd been looking forward to Troy's story for a while now, and the wait was SO worth it.

Declan was a new character for me, but he was just so loveable. I love the way they love each other.

This book was a perfect end to the series (I think this was the third and final book?) though I do hope to read more about Dimitri . He's been a side character in a few books already and I wanna read more about him for sure.

This is the third book in the series but my first book of this author and I quite like It.
Neon Snow is an intense and dark story that blends action, emotional tension, and a complex romance between two characters marked by pain.
The relationship between Troy and Declan is raw, taboo, and profoundly human, written without softening its contradictions.
It's not a book for everyone, but those who enjoy daring and emotionally charged stories will find it fascinating.

I received an advanced copy, but my opinions are my own and mine alone.

'Neon Snow is a dark MM romantic thriller featuring forbidden desire, messy emotional tension, high heat, danger, violence, and a hard-won HEA.'

Can be read as a standalone.

The characters were very complex and complicated and dark and perfectly steamy together. Plot was intriguing and intense and exciting and well paced. World building was excellent and solidly drawn. Another great addition to the series. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.

This story is gritty and messy. There is violence and a complicated relationship between a stepson, Troy, and his stepfather, Declan. They share history and grief - the loss of mother and wife. They share more and and the author does not make it clean or pretty. There is violence, there is the building of a romance and this is a bit taboo. Sometimes it is good to read on the dark side.

Another great read from Greyson. It was very action packed and I enjoyed how detailed all the fighting scenes were. The tension between Troy and Declan was very thick but I am glad they finally got out of their heads and admitted their feelings for one another. I enjoyed reading this, thank you Greyson.

As predicted I loved this! Stepday/stepson was so good, the tension between Declan and Troy is crazy. Troy clearly wants Declan but just hasn't realized those feelings yet. I love how the intimacy and spice just flow and no one gets jealous. I loved cameos from the other guys and I need more Dimitri!

Neon Snow is the third book in the Sentinel Code series, this can easily be a standalone but I much prefer it in order. This is a forbidden, stepdad/stepson, age gap, hurt/comfort read about Troy and Declan. This is a rough, dark read that I just absolutely loved.

Once I get my thoughts together I will put a very detailed review. Just know Grayson vale kicked butt with this book!!

I have now got my thoughts together about it and I have just summarized it to something short and sweet.
I absolutely adored neon snow. Troy & declan have a rather complicated past I will say it that way. Now they're stuck under the same roof together. Will things go like they want them or will they not. That is something I'm going to leave for you to read because it is very much worth it. But I will say this in the blurb it did say a very hard won HEA. That is exactly what it was but so worth it.
