Keeping Her #4

Craving Her

Rate this book
Cleo is a lioness that knows how to take care of herself. Growing up in the military trained motley crew of the Lionsgate pack has seen to that.
Shawn is a hawk shifter x-Navy SEAL who has done his best over the years to ignore his craving for his Alpha's much younger daughter.
Only now she is all grown up and knows exactly what she wants from Shawn, and its not another overprotective pack mate.
Can this honorable warrior ever see her as anything but her fathers daughter?
When a blast from her father's past puts Cleo in the cross-hairs, they may not get the chance to find out.

This is fourth in the Keeping Her Series. It is a stand alone, but is better enjoyed if read with the rest of the series.

This book most definitely has strong adult content. Strong language, violence of the bad-ass variety, and explicit sex are just a few of the things you can enjoy in this series.

I like this one because of the heroine. She was tough and bloodthirsty! Cleo is a lion shifter who works for her father's security company and is basically a good mercenary. She has all the tactical and killing skills you could ever want and uses them. Yay for that. She's also way in love with a fellow mercenary/ pack member, Shawn.

Shawn is a hawk shifter and also in love with Cleo, but doesn't think he can ever act on it because he's older and works for her father. So he pushes her away.

Things finally come together for the couple after Cleo is almost kidnapped and they work on finding out who is after her. She doesn't take the threats well. Good times.

I have said it before and I'll say it again, I absolutely love this series. While this may not have been my favorite book, I still enjoyed reading it and have read it multiple times.

I love Cleo. I want to be her when I grow up. I don't particularly care for "alpha" females. Usually they are written as too "masculine". That's not the case here. While Cleo is still badass, she has a soft vulnerable and feminine side. She's awesome!

Once Shawn got his head out of his ass, he was the same possessive alpha hero I love in this series. I just wish he had come around a little sooner. I loved Cleo so much and hated she was hurt by his actions.

There's so many more characters I can't wait to read their stories.

Another great read in this series. As with the rest, lots of action with a tough of humour! I still have to admit I like Demon's book the best, but this one was really good too!

3.5 stars. I liked h was a kick-ass h, who didn't need much help from others. H was stubborn at first, but I thought he needed more crawling considering how he refused h.

Although this was as standalone, I'd like to read other characters' stories.

This was a good story. I really liked Cleo in the previous books and have been looking forward to her book. Shawn is a decent hero but he lacked balls when it came to the important things. This review might be considered a bit spoilerish because I plan to tell why Shawn held back from Cleo.

Cleo is 21 and a lion shifter. Her father is the head of the Lionsgate pack, a pack which is both respected and feared. Because Cleo is pure blood lion shifter, she's considered "prime breeding stock" and there have been multiple attempts to kidnap her. Her father has trained Cleo in all manners of fighting and such and now she's badass and has more skills than most soldiers.

Shawn is 37 and a hawk shifter. He joined the Lionsgate pack 6 years ago and as soon as he met Cleo (who was 15 at the time) he knew she was his mate. But, because of her age and him being and enforcer for her father, Shawn convinced himself to never claim Cleo and that he should leave her to find someone better.

Cleo knew that Shawn was hers from the first time she saw him as well. She silently crushed on him and he never gave an indication that he noticed her as more than a kid. Now that she's older, he passed off an attraction to her as being a general attraction he'd have for any attractive woman. Cleo's sure he's lying but can't prove it or force him to change his mind. She's hurt that her mate would reject her and looking to release some aggression so she's not unhappy when a fight shows unexpectedly.

Cleo is almost taken in a kidnap attempt and it causes some major issues. The first foiled attempt isn't the last attempt to kidnap Cleo. This makes Shawn protective but isn't quite enough to make him claim what's his. TBH, I wanted Shawn to grow some balls because fearing her father's reaction really wasn't a good enough reason for me and once she hit 21, the age issue was a lot less pertinent. Cleo gets pissed enough that she decides to move on and if anything might happen in the future with Shawn, he'd have to work for it. I loved that she wanted to make him work to get her back but unfortunately things didn't work out quite like that. While I wasn't as happy with their coming together as I might have been, I did like how things continued. Cleo is put in more danger and she and Shawn have some tough times. Cleo shows she's a badass once again though and once everything gets settled, Shawn and Cleo start their HEA together.

This was an enjoyable story. I really liked Cleo and was rooting for her to get her HEA. Shawn was decent but really needed to grow some balls and figure out a way to have his woman a lot sooner than it happened. Other than that I was pretty happy with the story. I really liked Cleo's "capture" and the results. The setup for the next book looks pretty interesting so I'll be looking forward to it. :)

Finally Cleo gets her own book! Cleo is a favorite of mine since she’s fierce, tough and unstoppable no matter what danger comes her way. Unfortunately, she’s the Lionsgate pack princess and even though she has shown multiple times that she can not only protect herself but others too, her pack and especially her father constantly hold her back in order to keep her safe.

I wasn’t sure about Sean as her mate. I felt because Cleo was so strong, she needed a strong alpha to equal her. Sean knew she was his for years but he held himself back even after she became an adult. Because of this I wasn’t sure he was the man I wanted for her. He needed to extricate his head from his hindquarters. He definitely broke Cleo’s heart (and mine) before he woke up and he had one heck of a time putting Cleo’s heart back together.

Craving Her ended up being the most angsty of the Keeping Her books. The frustration that Cleo felt at not being treated as an equal in her pack along with the rejection she felt from the man she knew was her mate was front and center and there is nothing funny about that. It’s the Lionsgate pack and they are crazy so I still found myself smiling in places but the humor I have come to expect wasn’t as prevalent as usual.

Along with the relationship issues, there was lots of action. Full blood female lionesses are rare and Sean wasn’t the only one who had his sights set on Cleo. This put’s not only her but Sean in danger too. Cleo is not a lioness to be messed with but some have to learn this the hard way.

Although more angsty than I usually prefer, I still really liked this installment of the series. There was one string left dangling (Cleo’s Mother) which added a bit of frustration on my part since I wanted blood, but maybe that will be taken care of in a future book. I am really hoping that Stryker will eventually get his own book. He intrigues me in a huge way!

Spice’s Rating: 4 I Adore Cleo Stars.

Shawn the hawk and Cloe the Lioness.
I really enjoyed this. At first Shawn is determined to not claim her. He has known Cloe is his mate since she was 15 and of course he couldn't claim her then. So the age difference (they never say how old Shawn is) and the fact that she is his boss' daughter have made him keep her at a distance. Cloe is now 21 and moving out and decides to just make a play for Shawn. This was all deliciously angsty without going OTT. Shawn does a lovely short and sweet grovel later on.
Cloe is awesome! She kicks ass as well as any of the guys without needing to be rescued.
There is a creep determined to have her and lots of ass kicking abounds. But some very sexy sweet mating times too. Fun humor too. Lots of bits with previous love matches...

Normally I love her books in this series but I have to say this one was a little disappointing.

I still enjoyed it but I felt like the romance between Chloe and Shawn was rushed a bit because almost the entire first half of the book Shawn fought their connection...

That would have been okay if not for the quick end to the story. This book felt like it was more about advancing the plot for Lionsgate than a romance about the two main characters...

That said I did like the way once they were finally together they clicked well and had the connection and love that her books always seem to have.

Although, I got a little annoyed that she kept using then instead of than because it was a bit confusing on several occasions. I am not one to talk about grammar because I am not a stickler but that did bother me a lot.

I will tell you that somewhere around 99% she somehow mixed up Lucas and Logan's names. It confused me for a minute until I figured it out because Lucas had left the room and he was hugging her which threw me for a loop until I figured out that it was Logan but the names had gotten mixed up.

All in all I did enjoy this book in her Keeping Her series...so for me this was a SEPE or 4 stars

Not a bad book, but I didn't really feel the connection between the two main characters. The relationship between Cleo and Shawn wasn't talked about that much and didn't really feel like the main focus of the book. If I hadn't read the previous books in the series I doubt I would have really felt like there was much to their relationship at all.
As it was, I was aware of the attraction between them in earlier books but didn't feel like if was resolved all that well. I just felt like Shawn finally said "Okay, fine I guess we can be together", and Cleo didn't make him work to have her at all. She was just happy to take what he finally broke down and gave her.
Still, even with all that, it was an interesting book and a pretty good story. I just didn't feel like it was much of a romance, and the romance between Cleo and Shawn was what I was reading the book for.

Great pace, lots of action and angst. The H almost dies and while he's interesting, the hero is the h. He knew she loved him, but avoided her as she was 15. Now 21, she's humiliated by his denial so she claims him. Lots of funny scenes with her brother, and when she loses it with the H. A fierce heroine with mad fighting skills.

It wasn’t awful but I didn’t enjoy it. And I didn’t enjoy the last one either which is a bummer because I really liked the first two. The writing is definitely clunky but it was more than that. Now I have to think long and hard about whether or not I want to go for the fifth book since they aren’t KU and I have to spend actual money on these.

Totally love

I totally love this series. Cleo rocks, but I love all of the other characters, too. I hope we see Stryker again, in a good way. I hope LIAM has a happy future, and I hope Ian meets his Waterloo, but also in a good way. On to the next one.

Tweety & Kitten

So this series just gets better and better. Loved the story there is a small part of me that wishes the age difference was addressed with more detail.... but that changes nothing. Fantastic sexy read.

Love it when Cleo rescues herself.

Interesting to see Lucas dealing with letting go of his "little girl" and Miley encouraging him to make good choices.

Glad when Cleo and Shawn settle things among themselves BEFORE the big kidnapping.

Couldn't wait to read about Logan and his mate....

Not the best story or romance, but still good entertainment.

...And the whole series starts to dissolve into gradually worsening editing and spelling.

Stayed true to the series

If you like this series, I think you will enjoy this one. It pretty much followed the direction the author hinted at in the previous books with the H realizing the h is his mate, but not wanting to pursue her for a couple of reasons. There was a ton of action in this one, and I really liked the way the h was able to handle herself in these situations. I think it would have been a 5 star read for me if the h would have made the H work for it--just a little--after the way he hurt her. I'm all for "fated mates" and I REALLY need my HEA, but a little "I'm sorry, I've been a jerk" from the H after getting a cold shoulder (for longer than 5 minutes) would have really made the book for me. I did enjoy the interaction win the secondary characters we met throughout the series. It's ok as a standalone, but the reader really benefits from reading the previous books to fully get the story. Nice set up for the next installment.

Craving Her is the 4th of the Keeping Her series. I was happily surprised at the direction this book took. The character dynamics were really well done, the dialog was witty and all my favorite people made an appearance with the exception of Essie, who I still contend deserves a book of her own!! I enjoy the non traditional pack building and inter species relationships. I most especially enjoyed the introduction of a new villain and potential friction with the mom from Hades. All in all this was another winner from Kelly Lucille that you should absolutely add to your library.

Another winner!

One of the best shifter series EVER. I love love love the Lionsgate pack. And I love seeing all of them taking turns finding their mates. Awesome.
Cleo and Shawn's story has been a long time coming. And I've been waiting forever. Miss Lucille certainly did not disappoint. Their love story is explosive .. and hot. And badass. Lol.
Now, I can't wait for Logan and Xena's story. Aside from 2 typos .. the story was excellent. Great job, Miss Lucille!!

Loved it.
I really like these books!
Cleo is a great heroin and she is a kick ass shifter.
I love it when she is underestimated and then she is not that young girl but a fierce lioness.
Shawn is for a 'bird' very drool worthy. I'm more into the killer-shifters but for Shawn I will make an exception. He is just as kick ass as the rest of them.
The villain is an ass of course. I wanted to kill him myself.

I can truly say, this is one of my favorite series.

I really can't wait for the next book. When I started I was a little lost not going to lie. In waiting for this book I completely forgot the characters. But once I got into the book I started to remember the characters. It made me wonder how I could've lived without funny Ian. Just as long as Ian is in the books then I'm a happy camper.

Cleo is definitely one bad-ass warrior who shows how adult she is at 21. Shawn was a bit stupid to do what he did, but he was a quick learner. Now to find out about Stryker...would like to see his story. Great story from a great author!
