I am so glad that I resisted my initial impulse to set this book down and walk away. I was not impressed with Chapter 1, which centered around home décor projects. Ms. Stanton’s suggestions reminded me of other books and TV shows that focused around inexpensive projects that I felt looked cheap and actually detracted from improving your home.
The very first project in Chapter 2 (Garden) was unique, consisting of finding rocks of different sizes and painting them to look like the fruit or veggie you are planting and using the rocks at the end of the garden row. The tip on creating your own bamboo wind chimes (you can find bamboo stakes on Amazon and from other vendors) was worth the price of the book.
Other chapters help with storage ideas, cutting energy consumption, and just fun and crafty things you can do yourself or with children. If I could wish for any improvement on this book, it would be for complete recipes when talking about making things like DIY play dough or cleaning supplies (telling me a bit of vinegar or lemon juice in water without including proportions sends me to the Internet for the answers, and it would have been nice to save me the step and include the ingredient amounts).
Despite the things I didn’t like, overall I found this book to be well worth the money and I discovered many easy projects that will be beneficial to make. Four stars.
Personally I do not have a problem with anyone using all the technology available to try to make some money. However I do think that is incumbent upon the 'author' to at least try to match their click-bait style title. Although having just re-read the blurb I do agree that it has 50 simple projects. I now look forward to living stress free as promised.
