This book was quite decent.

The Heroine
She's young and naive and totally innocent, having been raised by a mother who literally sucked the life out of her, constantly criticizing, calling everything a sin, so she grew up in the shadows, so shy that people didn't notice her. So, she decides to be a bit bold and buys tight clothes, goes into a bar and buys beer and also asks the hero to dance and kiss her(her first kiss).

The Hero
He never thought he will be back in the town where he was sent to live with his grandmother after his father went to jail, but he is, his fortune has sunk since the development he invested in was burnt down by his partner, so now he needs to fulfill the terms of the will to get the ranch and money, so he needs to find a wife quick, one who would agree to a divorce in six months. He never expected to marry the heroine, for one she is plain and love sort but when she is drunk and he takes her home, he sees her bills and her dreams of going to college and makes her an offer he knows she will agree to.

The Story:
They get married and have to live in close quarters and the hero is a jerk in the beginning who thinks he will seduce the virgin heroine and when she refuses gets all angry and actually pouty but soon after some of the jerky moments they fall into a type of friendship and he even helps the heroine with her confidence telling her to stop listening to her mother's voice, be more confident and he actually backs her up as far as the town people go. He actually starts feeling proud when he sees her coming out of her shell and making friends.

I also like how the heroine stuck to her principles and slowly gained confidence, enough to talk to the hero with her eyes and even make decisions when it came to sex.

The hero did have to have a jerk moment at the end when the heroine finally makes an emotional break-through with him about why he does what he does(push away people like his grandmother), but he makes up for it with a grand gesture.

I was a bit skeptical about reading this book for I've never read any books by this author before and seeing it was the Temptation line I thought it would be a light book with the focus being only on sex, but to my surprise it turned out to be a sweet, heartwarming marriage of convenience. Liked both Cole and Virginia --Ginny as she was called by Cole.

Cole was terribly broke having lost his business, thanks to the betrayal of his business partner. Now, he desperately wanted to get hold of his grandmother's ranch, which he'd rejected six months ago because according to the stipulation of the will he had to get married within six months of her death and stay married for at least six months. He had only one day left to the deadline for getting married when he met Ginny, a naive, extremely shy bank teller, who hadn't even kissed anyone thanks to her needy mother who kept he bound to her with needless responsibilities. Now that her mother was dead for three months, she wanted to break out of the prison of inhibitions, which is why she goes to the local bar dressed in tight clothes hoping to snag a guy.

There she sees Cole McCallum the bad boy of her school who's good looks and lady-killing smile made all the girls including Ginny fantasize about him. Back then she knew a shy, wallflower like her stood no chance with him, but now with three drinks drowning her inhibitions, she decides to make a play for the bad boy. Unfortunately, her lack of expertise in such matters and the drinks leads her to only make a mess of the situation. Nevertheless, when Cole takes her home and see she's utterly broke too and that she wants to go to college, he proposes that they help each other out - marry for six months and once he had possession of the ranch they divorce and go on to do whatever they'd wanted to do.

At the wedding ceremony, Cole was such an ass - completely detached. Like Myrna --wife of the minister marrying them-- I felt like clobbering him. He treated her coldly when she made it a no-sex marriage. Having no experience, she was frightened. Yet, when he saw that she was being ridiculed by the town people for announcing her marriage to him, I liked how he went right over to the bank and kissed her and put an end to the malicious gossip circulating the town. And, also how he encouraged her to take the job she wanted and helped her not to listen to her dead mother's voice in her head.

Poor guy, however, was left frustrated by the no-sex part of the deal. And, even though, he'd left the house to find his relieve elsewhere with Ginny's permission, he couldn't bring himself to do it. Then, when Ginny finally decides to have sex, he finds she's done the disappearing act on the day they were to consummate their marriage. It was amusing to see him slog it out in his determination to have the wedding night he'd been denied all these months, especially the part where his wife teases him by licking her finger, which made him expedite the chore.

I liked how they both grew with this marriage, learning things from one another. But then, a misunderstanding separates them, and ironically, losing each other was what really bothered them immensely; not the fact that they'd lost the very things they'd got married for - him, the ranch and her, the twenty-five thousands.

Very sweet epilogue. Overall, an enjoyable read.
