Last year, a friend recommended me a book called Ditched by Robin Mellom. I added it to my wishlist right away but then time passed and I forgot about it; I regret saying it but to this day I've yet to read it (I know, shame on me).
Thus the moment I saw Perfect Timing on NetGalley and was approved for it, I instantly knew it was a sign. And you don't tempt fate, especially when following it leads you to such awesome results!

Sixteen yo Tori is the ultimate expert in relationships. Since the time her mother got sick with flu and Tori filled in for her writing a post on her blog "I'm not dead, I'm divorced", she knows how to behave with the other sex, how to recognize the signs of an imminent break up, anything. People seek her advice and she gives them, most of the time successfully.
Needless to say, it's downright ironic that one night she receives an utterly unexpected break-up text from her (ex)boyfriend. How could she not have seen this coming?
But Tori is set on getting him back and do to so she's gonna follow her own advice: keep her mind busy not to be tempted of calling him and let him get desperate and come crawling back to her.
That's how she ends up with a running errands kind of job for an eccentric mondane couple in Beverly Hills, how she'll meet a funny co-worker who she claims will only ever be a friend and how.. She'll spend one night in juvie, learning that sometimes you have to forget about all rules of timing and just follow your heart.

What can be said about this rare pearl of a book besides that I loved it?
It was sweet and cute and romantic, but its most evident perk is its hilariousness. Believe when I say I couldn't stop laughing out loud while reading it, which sometimes was slightly problematic considering I was outside in public places! And when I wasn't laughing, I was giggling and I had tears in my eyes from all the laughter!

Tori is one of the funniest characters I've ever met. I wish she were real just so I could go to her and beg her to become my BFF on the spot. The job is yours for the taking, girl.
The way I could relate to her was both terrifying and awesome. What she thinks about her parents' divorce, the way she sarcastically reprimands herself in her mind.. *virtual fist bump*
Also, Taylor was just awesome. I know it may sound as a cliché, but what girl hasn't dreamed of having a perfect gay best friend?!

Be sure not to miss Tori's adventures in a romantically hilarious and hilariously romantic book! If you loved Anna and the French kiss, you'll want to pick this up, mark my words!
In the acknoledgments, the author said this will be a series of companion novels. Hey, a reader can hope!

*thanks to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of this book*

3,5 stars to be precise.

Are you familiar with this scenario:

A certain book catches your eye and by it's cover you already expect it will be a cute contemporary that will make you feel good while reading, and although it will be predictable, it will not bother you because right now, at this very moment, you're not looking for a book that will contain that 'life changing message' and make you see the world in a different shape. Right now, at this very moment, you just need the book that will high up your mood level and it's predictability will be welcomed because it proves your guessing abilities.

You buy/borrow/something else book and it achieves all of your expectations.

It is cute, you feel good while reading it, and it is predictable as were all those teen movies you watched when you were 15 (with Hilary Duff as a leading role in my case) but you don't mind at all, because that is what you wanted!

This very scenario above describes my reading experience with this book.

Tori was an interesting protagonist and although she was a smarty pants at times I enjoyed reading about her adventure.

As a person who still likes celebrity gossip and still has celebrity chrushes I was interested in all the celebrities in the story the most.
I should have know better and predict almost all of the celebrities would be imaginary.

As for other characters it was kind of hard to connect with anyone specialy. They were all okay but not one of them made some bigger impression on me.

At the end of a book there's writer's note where she says how this novel should have been published by Disney back in 2013.
I can tottaly see why because it does have that vibe you get when watching Disney Teen movies.
I feel sorry it never happened but, as they say, life goes on and it did see the light of the day after all.
I am glad it did.

I got this book for free in an exchange for an honest review via Netgalley, thanks to the author Robin Mellom.

~~2.5 HEARTS~~

I really wanted to like this book but it just felt like it drugged on without any enticing to look forward to. The storyline seemed a little too far fetched to believe too. I know it's fiction but it just didn't click for me. There were too many things that I questioned that could actually happen realistically. I also felt like this was misleading in classifying this as a romantic comedy.

I adored Robin's debut novel Ditched, it had me laughing constantly and then in tears the next moment but always, with a smile on my face. It had such a retro 80's John Hughes vibe to it that I couldn't help but love it.

With a new novel coming out, I just knew it was something I needed to try. I promised myself I would read all of her YA books because I just had so much darn fun with the first one.

I am so excited to say that her second novel, Perfect Timing, did not disappoint. IT was every bit as fun, laugh inducing, heart melting, and smiling making, as the first.

I immediately liked Tori and as soon as Adam was introduced, fell in love with his geeky shyness as well. I have said this before and I will say it every single time, it is so hard to not fall for the shy, nerdy type with a heart as sweet as can be.

This was such a fun, quirky read that kept me turning the pages from the first to the last, satisfied with the way it all came about and ended. I am so very glad I found this author, she really does know how to write and she does it well with hijinks around every corner and a romance that is always sweet but subtle in it's own right and characters that are every bit as lovable as the plot is.

"If you want to get back together with him, now's the time. Dont worry about [his ex girlfriend]."
I'm conflicted, to say the least. It would be so easy to go up there and wrap my arms around him and tell him we can work this out.

DONT DO IT DONT DO IT DONT DO IT!

But no. No way. If he wants to get back together, he needs to come to me.

Phew!

In the beginning of the book, I had flashbacks of How My Summer Went Up in Flames, which I hated.

Girl loves loser boyfriend? Check!

Loser boyfriend dumps girl via email/text? Check!

Girl goes over to (now) ex-boyfriend's house? Check!

But thankfully, the similarities stop there. Its clear from the first 1/4 of the book that Tori is smarter than Rosie'll ever be.

The characters were pretty good, but somehow, I felt some things were ignored to advance the plot. There is this whole intrigue set around the couple who hired them, but its all ignored to focus on Tori's wuv lyf.

The thing that didnt ring well with me was how unrealistic and far-fetched the plot and situations were. I refuse to believe how ignorant her mother was to her whereabouts and how she just sneaks out of the house to work and returns just in time for her mother to get back.

And besides, they were just let out into the wild without any safety advice or training. They were just letting these barely legal teens go into nightclubs and parties.

Coming to that, why the hell do they need teenagers? Im pretty sure an adult can do the same job equally well, get into all the nightclubs and have more stealth while doing it.

Cute, but utterly implausible. The essence of a contemporary is that it can be relatable-to an extent, with her problems at home, it was, but the plot was just too unrealistic to look any deeper than what's on the surface.

I hate giving bad reviews. I feel especially bad when a author is as generous as to provide me with a free copy... But as I promise always a honest review, that is what its going to be.

I would like to preface this by saying this is the first time I have DNF' a title that was given to me by NetGalley, at the end of the day when I am given a book to review, I want to be able to review it as a whole... A lot of times books are just slow and then you can get in to them etc... Which is why 9.5 times out of ten I suffer through a book and try to see if they will get better. I very rarely DNF books...

I was talking to a friend the other day and they asked me if I read for enjoyment why would I continue reading a book that just wasn't satisfying me. Since then I have thought about that quite a bit, at the end of the day this might be a phenomenal book for some. But not for me.

I couldn't connect to the writing style, the characters or the story. So in pretty much every regard my heart wasn't in it. That is just my honest opinion. Everyone likes different things, I have seen so many 4/5 star reviews and that is wonderful. kudos to the author because people loved your story, a story that I am sure you spent a lot of time on... I am sorry I couldn't be one of them.

Thank you anyways for providing me with a copy!

I received this book from the author in exchange of an honest review.

I was so delighted when I found out that this author made another book! It has been 3 years since her last book (Ditched).

Tori was a delightful character, I loved her wits and how much she knew about romance/love, though also found out that love doesn't always go according to the little rules mentioned in the books.
I felt sorry for her that her mom never did pay much attention to her any more. I don't really understand parents. I can imagine that you have a job, and you need money, but you also have a kid, a kid that needs love and attention. And the mom's restricting everything is also not a good idea. I can imagine you are worried, but by restricted all kinds of things, or worrying about everything, you will only make her curious (as we see in this book) or try to find out the borders of what she can do.

It was great fun to see Tori try to ignore her ex, getting a job to take a break from it all, but still kind of hoping that her ex would come back to her. And then later when she finds out stuff, I just loved her reaction and how she stood up for herself. Of course she is heartbroken, but she is also strong, and I love that about her. Instead of holding a cryfest, whobegones and whining, she just tells him off. Sure, she is sad, but she is mostly keeping it together. This is fantastic. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind it if characters cry if they have a break-up, but it is so typical and so bleh at times. I am happy to finally have a character who kicks ass.

Oh and I just have to make an extra mention of Taylor. I loved that guy!

I really loved all the stuff that happened in the book. There is just a whole rollercoaster of things happening in this book. Heartbreak, nightly jobs (I loved those jobs, reading how they had to get doughnuts, get into clubs and all sorts of other things. I wish more books would be about this topic *looks at writers and hopes*), arrests, finding new friends and finding and following your dreams.

The book was delightful and I will be sure to buy it soon (and with this one also the updated Ditched book).

I would highly recommend this book to everyone. Searching for a fluffy and funny romance comedy? Want a kick-ass girl who doesn't let her ex walk over her? Who says no! Who just decides to do things her way? Then you should try this book out. :)

NetGalley! Thanks for the copy.

I'd read Robin Mellom before. Ditched is pretty hilarious, and I recall it being similar to HIMYM (How I Met Your Mother). Just the teen version of it. Perfect Timing is sort of... Different. There is a different feeling to it than Ditched, but I think Perfect Timing is on par with Mellom's writing. Met my expectations.

It gets really hilarious. Alright. Tori gets herself into a bunch of situations. And they are all pretty funny (one question: Is Jo-Jo Lopez actually real?). These are certainly a few wild four days, and it is relatively similar to Ditched. Expect Ditched is like... one night.

Personally, I like Tori. She is a bit innocent yet also knowledgeable in the subject of catching fishes (aka, dating). Unsurprisingly, it is the stuff that she doesn't know that gets her into a lot of trouble. Living in the LA area (Los Angeles, and traffic is a living and breathing demon in that particular area), she has a mild obsession to a certain celeb. I guess it is really funny how some things just turn up to be... wrapped up into a nice present.

Okay, I'll explain that last sentence a bit more. The plot seems to be wild. There is usage of flashbacks and flash forwards (well, technically not, but I'm going to say that, because it sounds good). There are some subplots here and there, but at the end, they all come together perfectly. No loose ends, I must add. Thankfully, Perfect Timing is a standalone (or it seems to be).

The ending is the best part. I'm not going to go into it, of course. (But there isn't a part that says "Kiss the scumbag" unfortunately. Ahh, I miss Ditched).

Overall, Perfect Timing is... It actually has a perfect timing. Perfect ending. Perfect Timing definitely hangs around the Chick-lit crowd, and yes, there is a romance. Love triangle... Well, I'm not going to go into that (I don't really care about love triangles, unless they are well-written or really, really anger me). But let's just say that it isn't that bad (neutral territory, to be specific).

^Okay, that paragraph is a hot, hot mess.

Perfect Timing is really good. There are some errors (typos) here and there, so a cleanup would be nice. The plot is very strong, and I do love many parts of it (I'm considering a reread here). Tori is amazing, and I'm surprised how well-portrayed some characters are. (Little amounts of hate. Yes, I'm talking about chick fights). So yes, I recommend it. Maybe after those typos are corrected.

My thoughts:

Since I’m in the mood for cute contemporary romances at the moment I browsed through Netgalley and was immediately drawn by this cover. And the summary sounded great too so I requested Perfect Timing without having any expectations.

As I started reading this novel I was pleasantly surprised because I loved the writing style and the main character’s voice. Tori was such a fun protagonist! I could totally identify with her because she didn’t really know what she was good at and what she wanted to do with her life. I also loved the aspect of all those dating rules and liked the fact that Tori secretly wrote blog posts for her mom’s blog (her mom knew about it, but the readers didn’t).

What I also liked about Perfect Timing was the whole setting because we learned more about LA and celebrities. I found Tori and Adam’s peculiar job simply entertaining and I enjoyed reading about their adventures together.

Adam was such a sweet guy and I could definitely see why Tori would fall for him. Sure, it took her some time to realize certain things concerning dating and love, but I was glad that in the end Tori and Adam got their happy ending!

Also, the whole prison thing was really hilarious and I kept reading on in order to find out why Tori really landed in jail.

All in all Perfect Timing was an entertaining sweet read full of funny scenes, great protagonists and cute romance. It was a little predictable, but it didn’t bother me this time because I had so much fun reading this novel.

I received Perfect Timing from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Oh, Robin Mellom. You. Are. Awesome. I finished Ditched 8 days before my wedding last spring. Needless to say, the pressure was on for the books I was reading during that time because my "wedding brain" was so all-consuming. Despite the craziness, I totally loved Ditched and considered it one of my favorite 2014 reads!

I knew I had to request Perfect Timing on Netgalley right away. After finishing the book, I am now convinced that Mellom's voice is for me. I mean, I kept grinning at my kindle. She's just so clever and funny.

I really enjoyed being inside Tori's head. She's such a likable character. All of the characters were interesting from Tori's blog-writing mother to her LA navigating co-worker, Adam. And the settings - they came alive! Whether 80's night at the club, Lizzie and Troy's house in Beverly Hills, or the window on the 6th floor of the L.A. County Water & Utilities building, I could SEE everything so clearly. That's proof of great writing!

This book is just so fun. Do you know that feeling you get when you're walking through a bookstore? The "I love books!" feeling? I felt this the whole time I was reading Perfect Timing. Although not quite 5 stars, this one gets a solid 4.5 from me!

"Except I'm more of a suburban girl with extreme knowledge of drive-thrus and yogurt shops and Chili's locations."

"But I would give anything to be sitting in Mr. Madison's English class right now instead of heading to my jail cell, even if it was Beowulf week."

Perfect Timing is a charming romantic comedy that will have you wondering if true love can be found at the wrong time. It’s a teen romance that will appeal to readers of New Adult contemporary romance and romantic comedy. Perfect for fans of Stephanie Perkins, Jenny B. Jones, Rainbow Rowell, and Sophie Kinsella.

My Thoughts:

Okay, as I have said before I hate giving bad reviews. It tears my heart into little, tiny pieces because I understand how hard it is to write something, complete it, and then try to get it published. Perfect Timing, though, is going to be one of those heart shattering reviews.

When I first read the synopsis for the book, I was excited and intrigued. I wanted to read it, and the beautiful cover only drew me in more. I realized on the first page that I was going to have a problem with this book. Not only was the writing style hard to follow and understand, the main character set off every single little alarm bell in the back of my head. I hated Tori from the first page, and this was a huge problem. I don’t know if it was because of how her voice was written, hence my comment on the writing style, or if it was just her in general. Any sixteen year old girl who proclaims to be a master of judging relationships is an idiot. Which, coincidentally, was proven to be true at the end of chapter one. She was too by judging her best friend’s relationship for “breakup signs”, that she didn’t notice the ones in her own until her boyfriend sent her a text asking for a break. I was okay with that, but Tori then proceeded to jump into her car and drive to her boyfriend’s house to make him change his mind/ ask for clarification.

Now, onto the writing style. I had a huge problem reading this, I could barely get myself through the book. I had to take this on a chapter by chapter basis, which sucked. I couldn’t get into the story, it was almost like torture. I wanted to read this book, and I kept praying that it would get better, but no. As an example, within the first three chapters I found fourteen sentences structured like this: “So I promptly googled: divorce and depression”(12). It doesn’t end there, though. There were also multiple examples of onomatopoeia. When Tori is talking about her car, she says “Sputter. Sputter. ROAR.”(9). There is also another problem, though I am not exactly sure what it is. This is on page 14, “IRONY(blink…blink…”

I don’t mean to rip this book apart, the idea of it was very good. Like I said, I actually wanted to read it. I was just inhibited by the writing and my instant dislike of the main character’s brain. I get that nobody is perfect, but when I read this I wanted to break out my red pen and fix what her editor did not catch. It is rare that I find grammatical errors in published novels, so when I do it sort of makes me have to choose between wanting to cry for humanity and punch someone in the face.

On the bright side, I absolutely love the cover. It was one of the first things that drew me to the book. I am a cover fanatic, in my opinion, I do judge a book by its cover. There are some times when I find exceptions, like this – but usually a bad cover is the sign of a bad book. In this case, the good cover masked what I found inside.

I spend a great time with Tori and Adam!
Sweet, funny and feel-good story!
Review to come!

************************************************
ARC provided by the publisher via NetGalley for an honest review.

This story was fun, refreshing and sparkling. Sweet romantic comedy!
I had a great time following the adventures of Tori and Adam. The flashbacks could be disturbing at first, but they totally fitted into the story.
This book had definitely the vibes from an 80’s movies, John Hughes’ style and I liked it!

Tori is a 16 yo girl, a little bit naive but so supportive when it comes to her family or friends. For her young age, she was also mature and she was helping her mother with her blog, knowing all the self-help books by heart. She was trying to find her place, without knowing really what she wanted to do.
Her mother was so focused on her own life that she was neglecting her daughter. It was kind of sad, because this girl was so a delightful character! She knew more about romance/love, she is witty and so funny!!
After her boyfriend dumped her by text; she wanted a fresh start, beginning a new work, taking a night job running bizzare errands for a eccentric couple.

She met here, Adam, sweet, nerdy guy, who wanted to get his girlfriend back. Immediately, they got along. What is funny that both had the same goal! So she gave him some advice about dating rules he had to respect if he wanted to be with her again.
But the more she spend time with him, the more she claimed that he’s only a friend. But this funny girl was in complete denial, really, totally obsessed by her rules about dating and relationships.

In her way to get her ex back by ignoring him and showing that she could be happy without him, running some very weird errands, and some very hilarious friends (high five to Taylor, her gay BBF, could be such a cliché, but he totally nailed it!!), she ended in juvie … and she put everything in perspective, meet her favorite actress, and let just say that these parts were so hilarious!

The author did a great job with the characters, Tori was just great, her sarcasm was a pure blast, she was so endearing! Regarding Adam, his sweetness and his nerdy side … just cute!

As I’ve said it before, this book was like watching an 80’s movie, bubbly, funny, as teen movies I was watching when I was younger, but I didn’t mind because it was I wanted at this time, with its lightness and characters so cute and sweet but quite subtle at the same time! Great job!

I received a review copy via NetGalley

I really enjoyed this book! It was an enjoyable read that I ate up in one sitting. I liked how it was clean romance rather than the usual, inappropriate romance in many YA novels these days.

I loved the whole plot of the story and how the two characters came together. (Though I can’t say much for the sake of spoilers)

I ADORED the characters. Each one of them was their own character. Never once did I see any of the characters that were alike or get them confused. I loved the narration from Tori’s point of view. Her sassy personality and narration was quite enjoyable.

I found Tori really relatable as well. All her knowledge about relationships but yet being in very few were something I can relate to. (Only I’ve been in no relationships ever) I am often giving my friends advice when they need it…. But I haven’t read dating books or have a mother who runs a blog all about recovering from divorce.

Although I enjoyed the book and the plot itself, I felt like other relationships could have been shown a little better. There are two that really come to mind in terms of the relationship. Shannon and Tori (The main character of the story) were really close friends in the story, but I felt like it could have been shown a little more rather than told. The same goes for the characters relationship with her mother. Now in the story her mother works night shifts and is home when Tori is at school but I feel like there could have been a couple moments where we saw that relationship between mother and daughter rather than being told it through the characters narration and thoughts, though I still liked how it played out, I just would have preferred to see it a little more for myself.

Overall this novel was a great, fun, and enjoyable read that I absolutely adored!

My rating for this novel is 4 stars

This review and more on So Bookalicious

Perfect Timing is the first book that I have read by Robin Mellom but I can already say that it will not be the last. This book was everything that I expected it to be.

Tori was a character that I immediately loved. I loved her voice and she was a lot of fun. Her view on life was quiet interesting. It was also easy to relate to Tori, like me she did not really know what she was good at and what she should do with her life. She had a dream, like we all do but she just assumed that she would never achieve her dream. Another thing that I loved about her was that she lived by all the dating rules she found in self-help books her mother used for her blog.
Adam was a really nice guy. He respected all of Tori her crazy rules and he did not push her like other people did. But most importantly he made Tori feel comfortable. Even though they only knew each other for a short time it felt like they had been friends for ages.

This book was hilarious at some points. Tori and Adam had to do so many odd jobs. Because of that they often landed in some weird situations which led to really funny scenes. I loved reading about their adventures together from delivering donuts to talking themselves into clubs. But my favorite one was definitely when Tori got arrested. The scenes in jail were just hilarious and I could not stop laughing.

Overall I really loved this Perfect Timing. It was an entertaining and sweet read. There were so many funny scenes in it that I had a big smile on my face the whole time I was reading it. The protagonist was great and the romance sweet. While the book might have been somewhat predictable it was still fun to read. I am definitely going to check out the other books by this author.

I did enjoy the book, but it seemed far too short to actually tell the story properly. The first half was told well, but the second half, with more action and drama, finishing the plot if you like, was rushed so much that it didn’t seem to do the book justice. I didn’t feel as though the plot had unfolded as it was supposed to. Whether or not this was due to the author’s restrictions in page numbers, I felt that this effected the quality of the book.

On the other hand, I appreciated the angle of feminism and self-development that Robyn Mellom executed in Perfect Timing, as often this is heavily neglected in books aimed at teenagers. For example, Tori being anti the stereotypical girl going through a break-up, not being a fan of the ‘movie’ culture of eating your feelings and drowning your sorrows in alcohol. The book also remained focused to Tori and her aspirations, and I was glad that foremost the ending resulted in her achieving her dream.

I was disappointed though, with the development of many of the characters within the novel. We were introduced to Tori’s best friend, Shannon at the beginning of the novel, but by the halfway point she had more or less disappeared from Tori’s life. Similarly Adam, Tori’s new work colleague was introduced, and I felt like we had hardly got to know him before their relationship changed dramatically.

Overall, I rate this book 3/5. I enjoyed it and would recommend for a short plane ride/long drive as it is simple, easy to read and quite funny in part but if you are wanting to read something with any sort of depth or development I think you'd need to look for a different book.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley I exchange for an honest review. When sixteen year old Tori impulsively takes a job as a nighttime errand girl for an eccentric couple in LA, she thinks she is just keeping herself busy enough to get over her broken heart, but when she is partnered up with Adam, who is getting over his own heartache, she finds there might be more to love than all her self help books prepared her for. A clean, contemporary YA romantic comedy, Perfect Timing is ideal for all those readers who want a fun, fast paced romp through the stranger side of LA and the lighter side of teen love. Tori's adventures and misadventures will take her from the back doors and bathrooms of exclusive clubs to the LA Juvenile Detention Center, and find her gathering wisdom from drunken celebrities and track suited psychics. Messages about finding out who you are before trying to find someone else add a little depth, but this is ultimately a book that is made to entertain. I would have liked a little more time on the job with Tori. I felt there was a lot more potential for ridiculous and I wanted to watch! I enjoyed this very much, and I think my high school readers will as well. This is a book I can feel good about putting in my student's hands, so it is going on my classroom library wish list and I'm recommending it to our school librarian. Language and situations are appropriate for grades 7+.

This story starts out kind of sad to me with a bunch of break ups. I had no idea where this was going. I didn't read the summary when I picked this book up. It just seemed like something I would like. I really enjoyed it. But the beginning started out weird with break ups I haven't read many books like that.
I started to get frustrated with it between chapters 3 and 4. It didn't really feel like it was going anywhere. After I got to the middle of the story I just wanted to finish it. It became really fast paced I enjoyed it immensely. The ending felt a little rushed. Like she just wanted to end it quick. But it was still a very good ending. Just I wish there was a little more with the ending.

This is a young adult contemporary romance. Its very cute and quirky. This is my first novel by this author and she did a really good job on this story. This is a fun story to read. It will make you miss being a teenager. Its not very long 278 pages. So you can get through it pretty quick. This book will make you smile. It will make you want to pick up another book by this author. So please read this story. Very enjoyable. I cant wait to read more by this author.

Tori Wright’s mother writes a relationship blog, after helping her mom once; Tori began reading plenty of self-help books. So, after her boyfriend breaks up with her through text she goes through all the knowledge she knows to confront him and find answers. After confronting him she decides that she needs a job so she stops obsessing over the break up. This is when she lands a job as an assistant for a very eccentric couple. This is where she meets Adam, a coworker, who she ends up enjoying being with.
Tori was a great character, full of life and I know if she was in my high school, I would have ended up being friends with her too. She in a way reminds me of my best friend, which might be why I enjoyed her. I loved her interactions with Adam too, there were plenty of times that I giggled a bit.
Even though this was a fun read, but it was very unrealistic. I do not mind reading unrealistic fiction but for any reader, who likes realistic fiction, might now enjoy this as much as someone else. Otherwise I would defiantly recommend this to readers. It also stayed true to the genre and very age appropriate

Completely predictable, overly sappy... but you will absolutely love this romantic comedy! Tori is a self-proclaimed relationship expert who has the ability to accurately pinpoint when other people's relationships will end and knows how to follow all of the "relationship rules". But when Tori's boyfriend Joel dumps her via text message, she never saw it coming.

To get her mind off Joel, Tori takes a part time job running errands for an eccentric hollywood couple who pair her up with a hottie named Adam and the two make a 'perfect" team. Tori shares some of her relationship advice with Adam who was just dumped by his girlfriend too. But when Tori finds herself becoming attracted to Adam, she has to decide whether or not she should follow her own rules.

This is my first Robin Mellom book but it definitley will not be my last. Her writing style is reminiscent of Sophie Kinsella and Rainbow Rowell's humor and wit. Thanks for the warm donut tip!

This was a sweet, loveable, but comedic story about a girl- Tori who is trying to get over a breakup when she decides to stay busy by getting a job from an eccentric couple. She then meets Adam who she slowly galls in love with night by night. This gave me different premise and took a storyline and just made it funny and different.

Tori: Guest blogs on her mother's blog and can give advice to anyone, but is a bit muddled when it comes to herself. With a father that is gone and a mother who doesn't realize she's there and justs talks about her blog, Tori had to find another way. So she decides to find a job and finds it with an eccentric couple who is paparazzi. But when she meets her brokenhearted co-worker Adam shows her that sometimes it's just about perfect timing.

Final Thoughts: This was a great pickup with comedy, love and thr right timing.

Really cute story. It was an interesting culture to observe--LA at night, paparazzi, tourists and movie stars--and how Tori and Adam made their way through to complete the tasks of their jobs. The instant friendly connection between the two of them, their camaraderie and understanding of the place each was in with their families and relationships. The realization and understanding Tori learned about love and life from her friendship with him, Shannon and her brother Taylor, the late night job with the crazy errands and her time in jail with the movie star culminated into a fun read that kept me interested. Included with Tori finally focusing in on what she wants with her life and how to accomplish that made for a fulfilling ending. While it was a quick read I felt the substance was there to get closure in the story.

Tori fancies herself as a teen guru when it comes to relationships with the opposite sex. However when her boyfriend unexpectedly breaks up with her, she doesn't know what to do. She decides to get a job to distract herself. This new job is rather unique and leads her on an epic adventure all around LA with a mysterious new guy who may be just what she needs to help her move on.

Tori was an amusing character most of the time. I only found her inability to deviate from her precious rules to be annoying. This was a fun story where we get to meets celebs and learn how the other side lives. I do think it could've ended a little sooner. I found myself loosing all interest when the plot did not get resolved after the jail drama ended. Also the author did not make it very clear that Sienna was a teenage celebrity. I was very confused as to why she was in juvie with Tori.

Thanks to NetGalley for an e-ARC of this book!

There are just days where I need silly YA romances. Today was one of those days. Is the writing stellar? Sorry, but no. Is it fun and swoony and silly and predictable and make you feel good in the end? Yes.

This book passes my test for cheesy YA love stories: if it was an ABCFamily Original Movie, would I watch it? YES! It's so ridiculous, yet cute and fun. This should have been made in the early 00s with Adam Brody and Rachel Bilson in the starring roles. It would have been so adorable.

I would read more of Robin Mellom's books, provided they were as cute as this one.

I thought this was a fun story. Tori was a complete idiot when it came to her own relationship, but that is what made her more likeable to me. The relationship know-it-all didn't even recognize the signs in her own life. I liked that she learned from her own experiences instead of continuing to hold fast to the rules in all the self-help/relationship books she read. I enjoyed all the characters. Adam was adorable. Taylor and Shannon were a lot of fun. Piper and Sienna were interesting as well. I just had a lot of fun with this story. Hollywood life doesn't interest me at all, but the behind the scenes with the no names was fun to wade through.

I'm always on the lookout for a great YA contemporary that I can recommend to the teen and preteen girls I know. This one is fabulous for girls from 11 or 12 right on up to adults. Tori is a sixteen year old who sometimes subs in for her mother's online advice blog, so she thinks she knows all there is to know about love and dating. I loved Tori's voice--she was so relateable in her troubles, from her divorced parents, to her confusion about her own love life. I also loved Adam--it's nice when a nice guy shows up in a book!

Perfect Timing has rom-com written all over it. Actually I think it would make a pretty good film. It's fast-paced, witty, full of bizarre and interesting scenes, and light romance. This romp through LA is the perfect vehicle for a blossoming friendship and romance, and at the same time it manages to have a 'growing up and finding yourself' element to it as well. I loved the fact that although it seems a little far-fetched at times, Tori's job and adventures give the book an individual feel. This is a unique story, not just the usual formulaic high school/college romance.
