What a fantastic read! Something totally different to other crime/thriller books I’ve read lately. First of all a HUGE thanks to the Author and Publisher for a copy of this book to review. I am so glad you got in touch with me. I devoured this one over two nights.
Okay - so this one I was into straight away and kept wanting to read it and didn’t have a moment of boredom. It’s a really interesting plot idea but it goes even beyond that. Let me try to explain. The basic premise is we have our feisty female doctor (Kyle) who along with a number of other medical professionals, elite ex-military operatives and others are a secret group of vigilantes called The Cabal. Between them they decide whom is going to be doled out justice à la medical nightmare methodology!
You know when the bad guys in books get a hit put out on them or the brakes messed with in their car? Yeah that’s for babies! This is on a whole other level.
The Author is a retired medical doctor (his story and website is amazing so check it out) therefore he knows a lot of medical terminology, methodology etc BUT the imagination used and then the research into the chosen utterly bizarre methods of death and suffering put into the book is sheer brilliance! I guarantee not one of these methods you’ve heard of before. It makes it absolutely fascinating.
Some of the methods and scenes are pretty stomach turning and graphic but I absolutely loved that! This is vigilante justice at its most imaginative. Inspiration is often taken from their victims suffering as to their own demise. It’s very clever. I learnt a lot!
During all of this our female doctor (Kyle) is beginning a relationship with another top doctor (Graham) and the book very much explores her own personal experience in how she integrates these two sides of her into her life. He is not only a top medical professional but also an ex-Army Ranger with skills galore. His struggle with PTSD is very real. I won’t go too much into what happens with these two but can’t wait for a sequel! It’s not gushy over the top romance scenes either. Very palatable and realistically done. He is very much his own character in the book. He plays an important role too.
The book is written from various POV’s and voices which I really enjoyed (the good guys and the bad guys) and had no issue differentiating one voice from another (don’t you hate it when you can’t tell a character has switched POV? Pet peeve of mine) so kudos for that.
All the characters that enter the book (and those that exit) are very distinctive and easy to imagine. I like this in a book. Nothing worse than not quite grasping even a peripheral character.
This is a very unique medical thriller with a hefty dose of vigilante crime justice. I truly can highly recommend it. It was a dynamic read and a lot of the scenes are so cleverly detailed and utterly mind-boggling fascinating that it’s hard to put it down.
Honest to God, I’ve never read a book out of hundreds and hundreds where the justice dished out and the kill and suffering methods were this complex, interesting and unique! It makes is stand out. Very clever.
The ending is just non-stop action and sets the book up really well for the follow-up. I’m hungry to find out what’s going to happen now. Hugely unpredictable and that’s what I love.
The fact that Dr. Gary Brown M.D. waited his entire life for this novel to be out there is so commendable. After years of helping others medically, writing a zillion peer reviewed papers but always harbouring the desire to have a book published! At age 76. He never gave up. As a “later life” writer myself I relate. It’s truly never too late to follow a dream. I really hope this book gets the attention it deserves. I can’t wait for the next one! Five solid stars from me. Both thriller and crime fans will like this one.

Their budding romance is overshadowed by her involvement with the Tribunal—a dangerous world she is determined to keep him away from, yet one that may be too much for her to carry alone.
From the very first pages, I felt transported into an episode of ER. An ambulance rushes in with a critically injured patient, doctors race against the clock, split-second decisions determine life or death, and a sudden collapse forces an agonizing choice: push forward or turn back. My pulse was pounding!
While I enjoy medical thrillers, I haven't read many of them, and I could hardly believe this was a debut novel. Although new to fiction, Gary Brown, MD, is far from a novice writer, having authored hundreds of articles and several medical textbooks. The story contains plenty of blood, gore, and graphic medical detail, and I couldn't shake the suspicion these cases were inspired by real-life experiences from the author's long medical career. As it turns out, that suspicion was correct, as he explains in a personal note at the end of the book. If you're squeamish, you may want to check the trigger warnings beforehand.
Like Dr. Kyle McMann, I found myself conflicted about the violence carried out by the Tribunal. Yet the horrific crimes described throughout the novel underscore a troubling reality: far too often, terrible people evade punishment.
If you're looking for a twisty, revenge-fueled medical thriller packed with moral dilemmas, suspense, and plenty of surgical drama, this is one you'll want to check out!

I am not a huge fan of medical dramas, I am however a fan of moral revenge dilemmas. What would you do if you lost someone and the person responsible got away with it? What if you found a way to exact revenge without getting caught? These doctor's think that they are doing what is right, but they forgot the Hippocratic oath that they took. I thought that the way the author used his background in medicine to describe how to kill was a fresh new look at medical dramas. At times the scenes were bloody and it went along with the feel of the book. I enjoyed the multiple point of views from different characters and I also enjoyed that each chapter said were they were, mostly PA. This is a fast thriller that it sure to be a fast read. The ending was left pretty open, so I assume that there will be another book about these characters. I also want to mention that I applaud the author for telling his readers to never give up. His story is one to check out. I am giving this book a 5/5. I was given a copy, all opinions are my own.

Invisible Justice is one of those books where the story carries you along. The premise is compelling: a doctor whose brother is murdered becomes involved with a clandestine group delivering vigilante justice to people who have escaped accountability. The mix of revenge, moral ambiguity, suspense, and a developing romance kept me turning the pages.
What worked for me was the central idea and the characters. I found myself invested in the protagonist’s journey and interested to see where the story would go next. The relationship between the two doctors added another layer to the plot without overwhelming the main narrative.
As the first book in a trilogy, it does a good job of setting up the wider story, and I’m looking forward to seeing what happens in the next instalment.
If you’re looking for a story-driven thriller with an intriguing concept and plenty of momentum, Invisible Justice is worth a read.

Gary Brown writes a winner
I read the book in two days. Couldn't find a place to stop because each chapter left me hanging. The characters were developed well and I felt everything they were experiencing .
I can't wait for the next book to come out.
Gary uses his knowledge of medicine to weave an elaborate plot that is filled with excitement and empathy towards innocent victims.
I highly recommend this book if you like a fast paced page turner.

This book was a page turner. It is a medical thriller that does a great job of hooking you in to keep reading. I read it in two days. Brown’s descriptions are very accurate whether writing about the bad guys, what they do to innocent people and the justice that is given to match their deeds. It pits the Hippocratic oath promised by doctors to do no harm with the need to seek adequate justice by undercover medicine that DOES harm.All along a love story evolves! I loved the book!

It’s about Doctors getting justice on those doing wrong yet there are twists n turns that will keep you so focused you will keep turning to the next page wondering! This is a great book the Characters and story line will keep you focused a must read! Loved it!!

fast paced and great story

I basically liked the book. I never knew there were so many ways to seek revenge. I worked as a nurse for 50 years and did find the make-up of the Tribunal a little disturbing.
