This is Book One of an ongoing series. Mature content intended for readers 18 and older.
I had such high hopes for this book. It has so many things love in a book. It grabbed my attention right off the bat. I loved the relationship between Bridget and Rose. I also enjoyed the relationship between Bridget and Phoenix. The way they would get on each other's nerves made me laugh. Mr. Rune is my favorite side character. He is chaos, and I loved it.
I pretty much enjoyed everything about the story except Donovan. He is the MMC in the story. While I love a morally grey man and even a slightly overprotective man, what I can't stand is abusive behavior, and his behavior is absolutely abusive. As soon as Rose does anything he doesn't like, he threatens her both verbally and physically. There were so many examples of toxic masculinity in this book that I lost count. I DNFed the book at 55%, pg 259. The line that killed this book for me is when Donovan tells Rose she "will never disobey and order from me" and her response (after he forces her to answer) is "Yes, Sir" then he calls her a good girl. NOPE I'm done. This may just be a me thing, but I have no respect for character who say they care for someone but then are abusive and use coercion to get them to do what they want.
I'm disappointed, I tried to read through it, but it's constant. If it was not for the other relationships in this book I would have given it only a 1 star.

Thank you to the author for letting me read this arc in exchange for an honest review!
This was an enjoyable read! I really liked the found family aspect of it although it was a bit bumpy at first when everyone first met. It was a realistic buildup to everyone getting along and working together.
The relationship between Rose and Donovan left a bit to be desired. It felt rushed and everything just happened faster than I would have liked. I would have loved more yearning between the two before immediately jumping into the relationship. I felt a bit of a disconnect with Rose as I think she didn't stand up for herself nearly as much as she should have to Donovan. I do hope she gets a bit more brave and stands up to him as the story goes on.
The magic system seems interesting and I am hoping it is described a bit more in the next books.
Overall I did enjoy the story and would love to read the next book once it comes out! The ending of this one left me craving more!
Read an ARC copy of this book for free and am leaving an honest review:
I stayed up through most of the night reading this one! It was such a fun read.
I fell in love with the characters almost immediately. It’s nice to read a book where the characters don’t all sound the same. They all have their own personalities and I am here for that. The banter was hilarious to the point where my husband came to see what I was laughing about.
Don’t expect a slow burn with this one! I don’t think the author advertised it as one, but it feels like most fantasy romance books are at the moment. A lot of things are left to be resolved in book two, and I get that because the author mentioned on TikTok that this series is going to be a big one. I liked how there wasn’t a lot of lore dumping, and things are explained over time/through the story, and I can’t wait to see more of this world.
I’m looking forward to book 2 and the first one still hasn’t officially released yet! ❤️
ARC read it for free and decided to leave a review. Happy I picked this one up! This was one of my first ARC reads where I felt like posting a review.
I highly recommend giving this book a read. It was unironically really funny for a book not advertised as a comedy. Like I snorted a few times. The cast of characters was really enjoyable, and I loved when the POV switched to one of the guys. I'm more of an instlove/anti slowburn gal, so this was a breath of fresh air. The main love interest doesn't cheat on her or do any of my normal trope icks. There is tons of dialogue. Like a lot, but in a good way. I hate it when there are just pages and pages of descriptions in fantasy books. Looking forward to book two. Will probably pick up a physical copy when it releases in September to keep as a book trophy.
I received this arc and was excited to see what this entailed. As a dark fantasy romance I found the relationships between some of the characters lovely. I enjoyed Bridget and Rose's relationship as best friends. I really loved meeting all the guys who stay in the dorm with them, however I did feel the relationship between Rose and Donovan was very rushed. There wasn't any yearning, and the spark happened very quickly and all of a sudden he loves her and is possessive and obsessed. If a book is going to be a series, i do enjoy yearning and some slow burn. I wanted to know more about the guys and there backgrounds. Oak has a bad heart..but why? Also more world building would have been nice. All in all though I really did enjoy the read and look forward to the next book.

This is advertised as a dark romantasy with found family vibes which it definitely was!
I loved the friendship between Rose and Bridget, you could feel the loving, caring, sisterly realionship they have and how much they mean to each other. Another dynamic that stood out to me was with Bridget and Pheonix! Their banter back and forth was really entertaining and did I sense some attraction going on👀
The main relationship between Rose and Donovan was a rollercoaster. MMC is morally grey, posessive and obsessive which is just up my alley but for me the relationship progressed a bit too fast. I wanted to see some tention, yerning, development. Here I think it just sort of happened. Donovan is very jealous and controlling and because the relationship didn’t have enough time to develop at times it didn’t work.
Some aspects of the magic system required a little bit more explenation for me and while some are touched on more than others, I would’ve liked to have a better understanding on how everything actually works. Same goes with the worldbuilding. Very little information on what the world looks like, how it functions and how everything fits together. However, could be intentional that we see more as the story progresses.
The information about enchanting was facinating and the found family aspect was so wholesome! Bunch of personalities with their own issues, insecurities and flaws working as team and becoming a family. And who wouldn’t love a cute little ball of void as part of the family??
Thank you so much for the ARC and congratulations on your debut novel!
I absolutely loved this book! It is very detailed and so immersive! The character building was perfect 👌 You get to meet the main characters who all go to a collage for magic and have to prepare and train for a battle they really know nothing about besides some information from a few dreams and some dusty old books! The ending was a cliff hanger and I cannot wait for book 2!
I am obsessed with the characters and storyline. It’s a magical academia vibe with the most delicious twists, turns, and rich magical structure. The FMC and her best friend are strong and capable, and the boys that surround them? DREAMY. Not only that, but it ends on the most delicious cliffhanger. Cannot wait for more!!
The story is a Romantasy book that follows a strawberry loving Enchantress. I enjoyed the enemies to lovers trope. If I had any complaints it would be that the book was a bit slow at times. A must read this summer!
This was my first arc read, and i must say that I enjoyed it for the most part. The only thing keeping me from a higher rating is Donovan and how insufferable I found him to be. I didn't feel any real connection with him and Rose. Otherwise, I really enjoyed the story and the other characters. I will definitely read the next book when it is released!
Just want to say a quick thank you for allowing me to Arc read this wonderful book!! This was such a great book and I can't wait for book #2!! I fell in love with the characters within the first couple of chapters and just kept falling in love!! Absolutely loved the plot of this too!! It's a cute, funny, mysterious read and I can't wait for more!!
