Known as Master 'D' in Manhattan's BDSM Community, Drake must keep the kinky side of his life secret to protect his very successful career as a neurosurgeon. After a heartbreaking divorce, Drake doesn't do girlfriends, he doesn’t do sleepovers, and he certainly doesn't do breakfast in bed the morning after. He keeps everything in his well-ordered life separate and under his firm control.
Then Kate McDermott crosses his path and screws everything up. Now, nothing is neat and tidy anymore, and no longer under control for Drake is smitten and things are going to get messy…
Intended for 18+ for explicit content.
NOTE: Drake Unwound is a retelling of The Commitment seen through Drake's eyes. It includes all new scenes as well as every scene from The Commitment but from Drake's point of view.

Still reading outside of my comfort zone per suggestion of my wife. This is the second book in this series and was a little better than the first. The author has settled into the characters and does a good job blending back story but not dragging down the plot.
I have enough empathy for the male MC to feel pity that his ex-wife hates him so much and is so vindictive to him. Sharing a son with her ex-husband, you would think that she would try to be civil for the child's sake. As a child of a divorce myself, I can empathize with the child who will be caught between two parents.
Being nasty to the partner of your ex-spouse is petty and serves no purpose. Drake's ex-wife trying to make everything his fault is a shitty thing to do to him, as it takes two people to make a marriage fall apart. Sure many things Drake did wrong, but having an affair was not one of them. I can forgive anything but infidelity.
This is the second book in the series and they really should be read in order. I love Drake and Kate. In this story, an unexpected twist messes up their plans to go to Africa. But this twist is so telling of Drake and his softer side. I fell hard for Drake in this story because he tugged on my heartstrings. It is still as steamy as ever. Kate submits even more to Drake and their relationship grows even stronger. I enjoy watching the trust grow between them. Watching Kate lose her fears and allow Drake to push her limits, truly displays the struggles Doms and subs must go through. I cannot wait for the next book!
Jack Calihan once again narrates Kate and Drake wonderfully. I love the consistency of one narrator. Mr. Calihan easily narrates both female and male characters. He is able to make those hot scenes, steamy! Mr. Calihan has an easy to listen to voice and reads at the perfect speed. The narration enhanced the experience of this story, leaving me wanting more.
Drake is a complicated and complex man. He has "unique" desires and he is devilishly handsome. Getting caught in this Dom's ropes would be a dream come true for some. Katherine needs to decide if she wants to get caught or scurry awake like a scared little mouse.
Drake Unwound gives us the insight into Drake's thoughts but I just get frustrated with his repetitive comments/thoughts. I feel as though he's trying to tame the reader into subspace by boring us. I like Drake. I love his and Katherine's chemistry, the push and pull, and her feistiness when it comes to D/s. But when he reminds himself 10 in the same conversation she's a newbie or reiterated his needs I felt like the author didn't think we took it at face value. I became frustrated with what feels like an agenda instead the flow of the story. At this time, I'm on the fence about continuing the story. it's a shame too because I really want to know how it concludes.
This series captivated me from the very beginning and it continues to do so with this book. SE Lund did a great job re-writing this book to be from Drake's POV. I love having the opportunity to see both sides of the story! I cannot wait for the next one to come to audio!
Jack did an amazing job bringing Drake to life and I cannot wait to listen to more from him!
Kate frustrated me so much. Why was she so willing to let others (Dawn) dictate the terms of her happiness. Dawn was a quick sand trap trying to destroy pleasure for others.- smh!! Maureen had a lot of gall to make the demands she did. Drake should have made the terms more in his favor! Kate constantly tried to test Drake, and she topped from the bottom!! Grrrrr. Looking forward to the next book. Love this couple.
I thought the best part of Drake Unwound was Jack Calihan’s narration. He does a great job of bringing the characters to life, unfortunately S.E. Lund’s vision of them just didn’t work for me. I just couldn’t get behind Drake or Kate to root for them to get to their HEA which I believe comes in the next story. I received this audio via Audiobook Obsession.
This is a retelling of a previous book from the H's POV. Should definitely read the original book from the h's POV before reading/listening to this one. I really enjoyed this version, and though the author did a good job no repeating. Jack Calihan did a great job bringing Drake to life.
Now that Drake and Kate are together people in their lives keep trying to keep them apart with no luck. When Drake's past comes back into the picture, will drake and Kate work through this? Great read couldn't put down till finished.
I read this book when it first released and was given a copy of the audible for an unbiased review. I absolutely loved it! Jack Calihan Is phenomenal as Drake Morgan. He creates the perfect narration. Thoroughly enjoyable. @audiobookobsession
Very disappointing book. I read the 1st book which was also a disappointing read. The elements of BDSM were hardly a part of the relationship of the Dom, Drake, and his curious sub, Kate. I’m not buying the 3rd book. I had to drag myself to read them.
Kate what's to be a Sub and she thinks Dr. Drake is just the man to teach her. The only problem is Kate has a hard time with the idea of Dr. Drake being her Dom, because of his friendship with her father and the concept of BDSM rules as Dr. Drake outlines them.
So glad that this book does not disappoint me. The author continued with the males point of view throughout the whole book. Definitely a plus and I will keep reading books by this author
Once again, loved reading the story from Drake's point of view. It gave more insight into what was going on in the relationship and it helped me to understand a couple of the scenes in Kate's point of view that I couldn't get past. Even though I know how it's going to turn out before I read it, the story still held my attention and proved to be time well spent.
