Monster High Haunted The Junior Novel
PLOT: Spectra is looking for new scoops at Monster High. Lately, her blog has been uh a little dead (or would the monsters use un-dead). So she resorts to juicy lies. Meanwhile, Draculaura has been noticing strange things going on around her: moving objects, new hair, etc. Looks like she might just have a new invisible friend. Looks like Spectra may just have her new scoop. Does she perhaps know more than she's saying about MH's new visitor?
MY THOUGHTS:
*Hmm! So Draculaura's on the Fear Squad at MH and she doesn't even know her directions in ghost form?
*Painter Geist. I like that play on words!
*I LOVE (LOVE LOVE) the moment where Porter gives Spectra the writing desk! I think other than a library it's the most romantic present you could ever give a writer/bookworm. I love Porter and Spectra together because they represent everything I am (a writer and an artist)
RATING 5: I first saw Haunted, as the movie version. It was never one of my favorite Monster High movies. The plot was just ok. It's pretty obvious that The Red Lady is Mrs. Remnant. Because honestly who else would it be of all the new character's we're given? There was a decent message about not spreading rumors and always checking your facts before you open your mouth (or your laptop) to type anything that YOU think could be harmless but in actuality might be hurtful to someone else. The artwork was GORGEOUS! It made the new characters look 10x better than the dolls that were produced for the Haunted line. Speaking of the new characters (Kimberly, River, Vandella, and Porter) there were certain things I liked about each one. Such as I liked Kimberly's power. I liked River's confetti cannon. I loved Porter's artistic flair and vanish ghost paint! I loved the touch of the desk for Spectra. But as a whole, I wasn't really as crazy about this new set of characters. Even though I do hope we see more of an interaction between the schools. I liked the ending and the ever-present message MH gives us about coming together despite differences no matter what kind of "ghoul" you are.
