The Conquered Brides

When the castle they called home is besieged and ultimately falls, five women are captured and carried off as wives by their foes. Will they be treated as no more than the spoils of war, or can their new lords prove themselves worthy of the love and submission of their conquered brides?

The Conquered Brides is a five-book collection featuring brand-new titles from five top erotic romance authors. This collection includes:

Commanding the Princess, by Korey Mae Johnson
As the ruler of Hohenzollern Castle in name only, Susanna has watched helplessly for years as her power-hungry uncle made one enemy after another for her. One enemy stands out, and the moment she catches sight of him, Princess Susanna is certain that it will be Gerhard of Bavaria who brings her world down around her. As his army smashes through her gates, Susanna makes the only choice she has left. She surrenders herself to Gerhard, hoping to win mercy for her people, though she fears it will come at the cost of her life. But she soon learns that Gerhard has other plans for her, plans which may end with her surrendering much more than just her castle to him.

The Knight’s Seduction, by Renee Rose
Avowed to never again yield to a man’s ill-treatment, Lady Daisy stands ready to fight to the death when her castle is sacked. The imposing knight Sir Barrett has other ideas, however, and to her dismay, Daisy soon finds herself not only disarmed, but soundly spanked as well. Sir Barrett takes her as his captive bride, but when she shows real terror at the prospect of consummating their marriage, he offers her a bargain. She will offer her body to him and accept the pleasurable torments he inflicts, but he will not claim her fully until she aches for it so badly she begs him. Certain she will do no such thing, Daisy agrees, but can she resist the knight's seduction?

The Widow Is Mine, by Ashe Barker
Since her husband’s untimely passing, Lady Natalia has resigned herself to a quiet life as a young widow and perhaps one day as a nun. But when her adopted home is conquered by the enemy, her world is turned upside down. After he rescues her from the chaos of Hohenzollern’s fall, Duke Stefan of Richtenholst cannot imagine allowing Natalia to languish behind the walls of a convent. The duke takes Natalia home as his wife, and he quickly proves himself ready to compel her obedience when it is necessary, but can he ever truly make her his own?

Conquering Lady Claire, by Sue Lyndon
As Hohenzollern Castle falls, mayhem unfolds around Lady Claire, and her only aim is to lead as many women and children of the castle to safety as possible. In an odd turn of fortune, her courageous efforts ultimately lead to her capture by none other than Lord Galien of Minrova, the very man that her brother, a powerful duke, recently commanded to find her and claim her as his wife. Claire’s defiance is quickly overcome by means of a firm hand applied to her bare bottom, but Galien is not content merely going through the motions of a political marriage. His skilled lovemaking soon leaves his new bride begging for more, but can he conquer her heart as well?

Kidnapped and Claimed, by Dinah McLeod
When her husband’s repeated infidelities and drunken insults become too much to bear, Lady Cecily flees to her childhood home at Hohenzollern, but things quickly go from bad to worse and she is kidnapped from the castle stables only moments after her arrival. Cecily ignores her abductor’s warnings of ruin about to befall Hohenzollern and his claim that he took her from the castle only to keep her safe. She resists him every step of the way, until at last he spanks her long and hard.

This awesome collection of books by five gifted authors is wonderful. They all take place in the same area but each story is about what happens to each conquered bride. The overview tell all about each bride so I won't repeat. The brides include a princess and lady's in waiting and they are strong women who have to deal with circumstances beyond their control. Each storyline is well developed and very detailed as to costumes of that time period and descriptions of the surrounding countryside are so vivid they you can picture it and feel you are there. The dialog is amazing and I got caught up in the emotions of the characters. Korey Mae Johnson tell the story of Princess Susanna and if you have read any of her other stories you are in for a treat. Renee Rose, another wonderful author tells the story of Lady Daisy and having read other stories by Renee I love this new one. Ashe Barker is a new author to me and I recently read some of her other books and I have added her to my favorite author list. She writes about Lady Natalia and it's another terrific story. Next is the amazing Sue Lyndon whose books are always wonderful reads and she writes about Lady Claire who is another amazing woman who puts others safety ahead of her own. And last but definitely not least is the wonderful Dinah McLeod who is also one of my favorite writers. Whenever I see a new book by her I grab it, and I've never been disappointed. She writes about Lady Cecily who goes through some incredible hardships. If you like reading about Kings, Queens, Princesses, lords and ladies, Knights, knaves sprinkled with romance, danger, some violence, hot sex and spanking you will love this set which is a great bargin at half price.

Amazing story line, done over five full stories! Wow! I love spanking romance stories, especially when you toss into the mix, some strong willed women and handsome, dominant men!

But as yummy as the men were, and as hot as some of the spankings were (some were consensual, some not so much, but hey, it’s the time period, and YUM!), what I loved the most was the characterization.

Each story stood alone, so it could be read in order in the box set, or in my case, pick a story, and go with it. They all read very well individually, and complemented each other perfectly.

I found the whole set to be an awesome combination of adventure, romance, sexy dominance and submission.

And to my delight, I found my favorite new author. Having never read Ashe Barker before, I was so pleasantly surprised by how much I loved her story, and it was also my favorite. The sweetness and sexiness were done so perfectly, and was so well written that I now have a favorite new author whom I have to read again.

The whole set was amazing!

If you like lots of spankings, great romance and HEA’s, strong characters, and sweet / sexy stories that just make you smile, then this is the set to read.

The four stars are for the first four stories, which were well written and connected well.
The last one was a mess, things changed and it didn't seem set in the same time.- A large manor like
Antony had would have had tenants and serfs as well as house staff during this time. No need to leave an 8 year old boy alone while his father went off Scouting? for who?- the emperor, his overlord -it changed. And did he report the results of his scouting - no he nabbed the first woman who came along.
There were many such inconsistencies that had me rereading and going WTF.

Thankfully the other 4 were great reads.

'Hohenzollern' on to your pants!

This is a great collection of stories about different women who were all at Hohenzollern Castle as relatives or ladies-in-waiting to Princess Susanna. Due to the greed of the princess' uncle, the castle falls to the Holy Roman emperor's army. As spoils of war, the women are taken as brides. These are some of their stories. They were delightful reads with chivalrous knights taking wives, even though they hadn't planned to, to save the women from more disreputable men. Of course, these women weren't as thankful as they should have been, so they often ended over their husband's knees. But of course love prevails...eventually. I borrowed this book through the Kindle Unlimited program.

I would give it ten stars if I could. It is one of the best box sets I have read. With some of my favorite authors and a couple new ones that I hope to read more of in the coming months. Wonderful characters and rich storylines. I didn't want them to end. :)

Well, this is what happens when I decide to go against my instincts and read some light kink -- I end up liking it a lot more than expected. Lol! Haven't read lots of spanking romances previously, so this was an interesting set to dabble my toes in, so to speak.

However, I do read a lot of historical romances, and there were several nits I wanted to nitpick when all was said and done. Contemporary dialogue, things that people wouldn't have had at that time (a bottle with a nipple? excuse ich?!), "drawers" which would have been considered unsanitary clothing during that time period, etc. Enough said!

All that aside, I will say that these were pretty cute little stories. I liked the concept of five authors spinning off of each other's stories, but I wish they had been more tightly linked. Certainly, it would've meant a bit more collaboration and communication during the creative process of figuring out characters and plot-lines, but part of me really wishes that had been the case.

The book summary gives a good overview of the women and men in each story, but each must be read to experience the individual author's unique take on the time period and the situation. I am not surprised to see several reviewers concur with my opinion of the final story of the collection; it felt disjointed, had many discrepancies and anachronistic flaws, and I had a hard time warming-up to Cecily. It kind of worked in the end -- we see her mature, learn some humility (for crying out loud!), and face some personal demons -- but it was too forced, and I honestly felt like she'd missed out on some hard disciplining in a couple instances. Antony seemed sweet, but felt remote. I get the point -- haughty lady brought low -- but their chemistry didn't grab me, and the additional schmaltz at the end seemed a blatant emotional manipulation of the reader's good nature.

Despite that, I would encourage an open-minded read, especially if you happen to be tired of pseudo-medieval romances, where the ladies act like modern feminists and the "alpha" males end up all dewy-eyed and giving into their every whim. While these guys take care of their ladies, they also chastise them without a qualm. Refreshing!

The Conquered Brides was an entertaining collection of 5 short stories, each following what happens to a different woman after the fall of a Castle at some unspecified time in the Middle Ages. Each story is different, although each does have domestic discipline and an HEA. I thought 3 of the stories were very good, one was OK, and the last one felt a little disorganized but still was not bad. These stories are light historical fiction, set in a time when women actually belonged to their fathers and then to their husbands. The heroines are not liberated women in a contemporary society, so don’t expect them to be – just read and enjoy. For a collection of short stories by different authors, I thought this was well done.

Fantastic

Five authors I feel outdid themselves to create this compilation of stories. Each story bears a common theme , each bride as a result of the castle conquest, but each story is different from the others as far as resulting lives go. If you like stories where men are not afraid to be men, stern but loving husband's not afraid to discipline when called for, romance without the "slop" . Every story kept me glued to the end only wishing for more. Definitely will read again.

One, and all

Each bride was made to be a happy wife with a different lifestyle than once they believed them to be. Each one had alot to learn but they learnt the way of loving with a firm hand and a spectacular love. They didn't have a lifestyle of the rich and idle. Their lives were meaningful and enriched in each one. You will enjoy each story for the love and discipline applied.

Good series

Each tale in the series features a warrior claiming a damsel in distress from the ruins of a fallen castle. Strong and dominant, their patience with their sometimes highstrung brides runs thin and devolves into a spanking session. Alone and often afraid, the women cleave to their saviours once resigned to their fates. Love slowly grows in this tense environment, cementing HEA's for all.

Hot historical romance

The 5 authors each write the story of a couple who are brought together through the battle for Hohenzollern Castle. There is a lot of domestic discipline so if that offends you this isn't the book for you. However, if this doesn't offend you each story is sweet and romantic with an HEA. The authors have seamlessly woven their stories together make it one whole story. Truly excellent writing and storytelling.

Excellent

To my surprise 😮, ii very much enjoyed all the stories. Each one had the drama, the angst, the joy, laughter occasionally, and of course spankings and sexy times. It's not my mafia romance but very enjoyable. Each with HEA.

This group of five stories all focused on the women of a besieged castle who are taken as wives rather than slaves. This concession comes about thanks to the brave Princess Susanna who is blamed for atrocities committed by her evil uncle, but manages to gain the agreement that all women taken by the conquering forces will be taken as wives. In no way did this set of stories feel historically realistic, but it was sure a lot of fun in the fantasy department!

The other theme running through the stories was that of domestic discipline. Each woman taken was also taken in hand by a strict but loving dominant man, who just happened to use spanking as a disciplinary method. The stories as a whole were great fun, although individually some were more successful than others.

Commanding the Princess by Korey Mae Johnson - This story sets up the situation at the castle and the reason all the women are to be married rather than taken as slaves. This is princess Susanna's story, and is the shortest one in the collection. I liked it, but didn't love it really. Mainly she was just too much of a victim of circumstances and her power hungry uncle, and Gerhard was a bit too besotted some how. Both characters are just too vague and cookie cutter to have grabbed much of my interest, although the story is pretty exciting and that did hold my interest okay. About 2.5 to 3 stars.

The Knight's Seduction by Renee Rose - This story is the reason I bought this anthology. Renee Rose writes historical spanking stories like no other. Oddly I often end up a bit annoyed by her heroes who can be unreasonable sometimes (in my opinion anyway), but I always come back again for more. I reviewed this book separately here. 4 stars.

The Widow Is Mine by Ashe Barker - This was possibly my second favorite story, although it was a very close thing. I really enjoyed both Natalia and Stefan and cheered for their HEA. The really strange thing about this story was the contemporary BDSM romance feel it had in regard to the way Stefan dealt with (trained?) Natalia. That could be a bit jarring at time, because I'm pretty sure they didn't have BDSM clubs with training for dominants/masters back in the middle ages.... although I suppose I could be wrong about that. ;-) 4 stars.

Conquering Lady Claire by Sue Lyndon - I enjoyed this story very much as both Claire and Galien were strong and admirable characters. Sometimes Galien struck me as a bit too good to be true and the story somewhat too predictable, but it's a fantasy and he is absolutely worth fantasizing about. There was one scene that struck me odd, as if it was set up to go one way and then went another. It felt like I missed something there, but it all works out as it should. 3.5 to 4 stars.

Kidnapped and Claimed, by Dinah McLeod - This story was the longest in the group, but unfortunately I thought it was the weakest as well. It left me feeling rather let down which is truly too bad at the end of such a lovely group of stories. I think the reason for this is largely the first person point of view which didn't work for me at all in this type of story. In romances, the heroes often end up as paper cut-outs rather than well fleshed out characters, in this case we don't ever get to know Antony - who he is, why he was really there, and why he really wanted Cecily. This story doesn't include the captured castle beginning in the way the others do, so Cecily is completely in the dark about what's happening. She may be spoiled and haughty, but I sure can't blame her for not believing Antony and trying to get away from him. The whole thing just felt a bit off, like I was missing something important. 2.5 stars.

Five extremely talented authors and five full length extremely fantastic books! How could you possibly go wrong?! Simple answer - you can't! Every book stands alone but they are connected in a very unique way. The writing style is very detailed and accurate for the time period, with strong alpha men and strong women who have experienced a challenging event. There is danger, suspense, romance, HOT sex, spanking and love and every story will pull you in and not let you go! I received this book from Stormy Night Publications as an Advanced Reader Copy.

This is a very interesting tale that starts with a princess Susanna losing her castle do to the greed of her nasty uncle and what becomes of her and female friends and family members .and the deal she makes that the woman must be married instead of being raped and killed. Every single story by every author in this book is awesome. you have to give this book a read and go along on the ride of pleasure and spankings abound. great stories loved them all. I thought I was going to love every single story in the book, but I didn’t quite get there. The first three stories were great, the fourth story was good but needed some work, the last story absolutely didn’t do it for me. It’s a bummer to end on a low note but overall it was a thoroughly enjoyable book.

So many spankings! My butt was so tense after each story.

What a great plot. This was pretty unique on how everyone followed the story line. In reading about a castle being taken, I always would wonder what would happen to the women and children.
