Fun with Fluffy

Fluffy is the daughter cat of Ramsey the cat, and they live in CA. Fluffy leaves her father and her comfortable life in Hollywood to travel to Africa where she becomes a safari cat. Fluffy causes mischief and experiences fun, danger, and adventure. The story is told by Fluffy who is bursting with personality. Middle-grade readers will enjoy this fun story.

Fluffy the Safari Cat is a delightful young reader’s book about the adventures of a cheeky young cat who travels to Africa with his humans to help manage a safari camp. Fluffy, who is nicknamed “The Red Menace,” narrates the story with his own zealous voice and has many adventures in Africa, making friends wherever he goes. He greets each day with great enthusiasm and precociousness. And he has a special talent: he can talk to humans! No, really! If the people around him make the effort to listen, he has a lot to say—about everything—all the time, especially how hungry he is. Each chapter is a new adventure in the African wilds and is loosely based on the author’s own travels and experiences while running safari camps in Kenya. This gives the whole fantastical tale an air of reality amidst the humor and dramatic escapades of Fluffy.

I really enjoyed Fluffy the Safari Cat by Wolf Norris, and I think it’s a great, feel-good animal adventure story.

Like the first book, Ramsay the Cat, this follows Ramsay’s daughter, Fluffy, as she moves to Africa and helps run a safari camp. It’s a really fun setup for lots of lighthearted adventures. Fluffy is a cheeky, funny, and energetic character who’s easy to like, and I enjoyed following her journey. She quickly makes friends with both guests and wildlife, including Kasi the cheetah, Elwood the elephant, and Virgil the vervet monkey, which really brings the safari setting to life.

The stories are light, warm, and entertaining, and it’s the kind of book that just leaves you feeling good after reading.

If you enjoy animal adventure stories or are a fan of Ramsay the Cat, I’d definitely recommend this one.

Fluffy the Safari Cat by Wolf Norris is based on the author’s experiences running safari camps in Kenya. As a cat mom and a lover of stories from Africa, I thoroughly enjoyed the book, which can easily be enjoyed by parents and children alike. Not only does the book follow the adventures (and misadventures) of Fluffy, a cheeky, talking cat, but it also gives its reader an affectionate look at Africa, its people, and its animals, as well as the surprises found in running a camp for tourists in the Maasai Mara, a nature preserve and a wildlife conservation area in the Kenyan bush. Suitable for children ages 6-17, it is part of the Tails of Whiskers and Wonders series. Highly recommended for the adventurer in all of us.

“Fluffy the Safari Cat” by Wolf Norris is an entertaining and educational story about Fluffy, a talking cat who travels to Kenya with her “parents,” Smarty and Jenn, to help run a safari camp. Fluffy, a clever and mischievous cat, encounters many wildlife and people, has both humorous and hairy adventures, and, most of all, learns that it’s not where you live but the people (and animals) around you who shape the person (or cat) you become. The descriptions of the landscape are captivating, and the ending is quite poignant. I thoroughly enjoyed this light-hearted read filled with humor. This book is perfect for middle-graders and adults, too!

Fluffy is a cheeky, talking cat exploring the African wilderness with her parents, Smarty and Jenn, and they move from California to Kenya to run a safari camp. Fluffy is sassy and brave and teaches kids that adventures mold who you are, and that family and friends really matter. Perfect for middle-grade readers, it blends humour and adventure and kept me laughing from start to finish.

Another fun cat adventure, this time in Africa! Fluffy, daughter of Ramsay from book 1, meets lots of other animals (and people), gets into mischief, and has a trip of a life time. Fluffy had a bit of a haughty attitude that wore thin at times, but kids will probably think she’s funny. The single snapshots throughout were a nice touch. I think the best age range for this book is 9-12, especially for kids who love cats.

I wonderful tale about a cat on safari. Ms. Fluffy is a sly, funny, cat that likes to do things her way. She's intrigued with her trip to the safari where she encounters wonderful things she never experienced before. It was a good entertaining read.
