The Fall Guy meets Ava Wilder’s Will They or Won’t They in Isabelle Engel’s new action-packed rom-com about two stunt doubles with a complicated history who discover that love might be the most dangerous fall of all.

It’s been three years since stunt double Mavis Stilton traded punches (and kisses) with hotheaded stuntman Fox Wildwood. After their whirlwind romance ended in a devastating breakup and near-fatal accident, Mavis left stunts behind for good.

When A-list actress Vanessa Watkins offers Mavis the chance for a comeback doing stunts on a Wild West vampire movie, she jumps at it, desperate to win back the life of adventure she set aside. The only catch? Fox is the stunt double for the male lead, forcing Mavis to face the danger of working with him again.

After several on-set mishaps, Mavis and Fox start to suspect that someone is trying to sabotage the production. With the future of the project on the line and the stunts ramping up in difficulty, the two must begrudgingly work together to save the film—and their careers—before someone falls head over heels . . . literally.

Still Falling for You is a second-chance, enemies-to-lovers romance packed with adrenaline, twists, turns, and sizzling chemistry.

First of all, thank you to St. Martin’s Press for the opportunity to read this book before publication and provide an honest review. I was so excited to see this title as an option for the SMP Early Readers program!

I recommend this book if you:
🔸enjoy romantic comedies - this felt very reminiscent of the 90s and early 2000s romantic comedies that I grew up loving. Very nostalgic of the humor, tension, and chemistry without any sacrifices to a strong plot. The amount of times this made me audibly giggle was countless.
🔸enjoy second chance romances - this is a trope that I haven’t always been a big fan of, but the way the tension of the main characters history was balanced with the tension of the current onset drama was well done. I loved that we got glimpses of their history without being completely bogged down with a second timeline.

I was immediately drawn to the cover. I loved the bright colors and was intrigued by the title. The premise of a romance between stunt doubles felt so refreshing as I have never read or heard of one before!

I loved Fox from the get-go, his humor - the countless sexual innuendos and jokes - had me giggling and kicking my feet. I really enjoyed seeing how he whittled away at the walls that Mavis had built up over the years since their previous film. Mavis learning to trust others and herself was a beautiful journey that I really enjoyed reading. I was not expecting this to be so inspirational or emotional, but I really loved that aspect of it. This book definitely surprised me in a good way!

Thank you St. Martin Press for the early access to this book.

This book is about a second chance romance where He falls first. The story follows Mavis and Fox, who met on the set of a movie as the movie leads Stunt doubles. When tragedy happens and Mavis pulls away from Fox, he has no choice but to move on. Or does he?

From the start this book caught my attention because I have not read any book where the MCs are stunt doubles, this brought a different take, pace, and plot to the story. While this book as categorized as a contemporary romance, I believe it goes beyond that. Mavis suffered an almost career and life ending injury and it took her 3 years to even try to get back to something she grew up loving. In addition to this, she pushed people away in order to protect herself physically and emotionally and we are taken in a journey where she is learning to be confident and trust her body to do stunts again but also where she trusts her heart to opening to the possibility of love and be loved.

This book is very inspiring and heartfelt, I did not see the plot twist coming at the end which was a great surprise. I definitely enjoyed this book and I think anyone who likes a healthy balance between a slow-burn second chance romance, plot and realistic description of the elements that make the storyline, plus a little bit of drama (plot twist) should read this book.

”The first time I met Fox Wildwood, I was on fire. Literally.”

RATING: 5 falling stars

I am completely enamored with this book. I was instantly hooked by the premise. I mean come on: Hollywood stunt doubles on a Wild West vampire flick! As someone who loves film and the inner workings of filming a movie, it was super cool to see this refreshing perspective. So many moments had me giggling and smiling like a fool! I adored Fox and his constant need to playfully tease Mavis. Not to mention- he was always her biggest supporter!

This is a second chance romance - which is usually not something I gravitate to. But the author knocks it out of the park with this story! It’s a great slow-burn with just the right amount of tension. (And whew, those steamy moments!) Aside from the cute romance, this story is also about personal growth and acceptance.

This book quickly became my favorite read of the year! (P.S. We so need a book with Vanessa’s story!)

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

The aspects in this story, the main being stunt performers as well as it being a second chance romance, made me want to read this one. I was worried the stunts would take over the story but they didn't, they added to the plot whilst adding extra steam to our romance.

I read this over 2 days so it was a quick compelling read for me and I'm glad I decided to read it. At first I thought Fox was a bit full of himself but after like a quarter was through I really loved his character and his respect for Mavis. They had really great chemistry and the suggestive things Fox came out with too 🤭

My only really criticism would be that she was injured and then they didn't speak for 3 years, there was the small dialogue later on where we find out he asked about her during the time but 3 years?! You thought you loved this woman and you didn't do more to see her? Only thing that frustrated me.

Overall I've given this a 3.5 stars and rounded it up to four here and on goodreads.

Perfect for those who loved The Fall Guy! Fox and Mavis are stunt doubles who find themselves back on set for a movie sequel three years after a devastating accident during filming of the first movie ended their romantic fling. All kinds of hijinx and steaminess ensue.

Such a fun rom-com with a hint of mystery. This book hooked me QUICK and kept me reading. I loved the slowwwwww burn and the chemistry between the two main characters. And it was fascinating to get a sneak peek at what life as a stunt double on a movie set looks like. I also loved how inspiring this book was. The author wasn't afraid to tackle the non-linear path of recovering from a major injury and all the physical and emotional wounds that also need healing. The story was entertaining, laugh-out-loud funny, and steamy in all the best ways.

I was able to read a copy of this book early thanks to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley. When I saw this book on the list of options to read I was so excited because I absolutely loved Isabell Engel’s debut novel Most Eligible, but unfortunately this one was not as big of a hit. It was a decent storyline, but I didn’t feel connected to the characters. There were quite a few supporting characters that we never got much of a connection to, despite being in the whole book, but I also felt that way with the main characters. I wanted more witty banter and personal moments and less technical scenes about stunt doubles. Overall I gave it 3 stars.

A Wild West vampire movie as the film-within-the-book — finally, a fictional production with a premise more unhinged than the real one. High hopes for sheer absurdity here.

Given my track record with Engel's Most Eligible: she nails the setting and the sharp visual one-liners, but the central couple tends to be all chemistry, no agency. Here's hoping Mavis gets to actually do something this time, instead of just falling into Fox's orbit. Pun very much intended, given the title. And the cover.

Still Falling for You is a slow-burn, second chance romance about two stunt doubles on the set of a vampire cowboy movie set. I definitely enjoyed this read and I thought the concept was very funny. It definitely reminded me of the movie The Fall Guy which I just happened to watch recently on a flight.

I did think the ending was a little predictable and I wish the conflict had bit a stronger to justify all their issues 😂 Overall though a very fun read that I would definitely recommend. 3.5 ⭐️
