Robin, Starfire, Cyborg, Raven, and Beast Boy are the Teen Titans the coolest teenage superhero team in the universe! Watch as they battle a pizza monster, a video game console that becomes alive, and a legion of incompetent super villains. The Teen Titans are always getting into crazy hijinks like destroying a superhero themed mini golf course, becoming CEOs of a Silicon Valley startup company, playing a deadly game of go fish, making intergalactic prank phone calls, or throwing a girls only superhero slumber party. Thru all the mayhem and zanynest these friends always come out victorious (most of the time.)
TEEN TITANS GO! VOLUME 1: PARTY, PARTY! collects issues #1-6 of the fun filled series based on the hit cartoon show on Cartoon Network featuring work from an array of comic creators including Sholly Fisch, Lea Hernandez, Amy Wolfram, Jorge Corona, Ben Bates and many more!
His credits run the gamut from Superman to Star Wars to Scooby-Doo, and from Clive Barker’s Hellraiser to Looney Tunes. His comics for kids have won a Comics Buyer’s Guide Fan Award, and been nominated for an Eisner Award and two Diamond gem awards, while several of his stories for older readers were included in the #1 New York Times bestselling graphic novels Action Comics.
My children lately are obsessed with this TV series. They have watched all the episodes. And when they finished all the available seasons, they watched them again from the beginning. And when they finished everything, they have started it again. From the beginning.
My daughter keeps singing the burrito song and the hamburger song from that episode in which Cyborg and Beast Boy were fighting for the tastier food.
Generally we are having a Titans month, because me as well watch the Titans. But the darkest version for the grown ups. I am looking forward to season 2 by the way.
Anyway, naturally we tried to find as many books as possible based on the “Teen Titans Go!” Series. We will probably read the whole collection.
Teen Titans Go! is currently one of my daughter's fan favourite ones cartoon shows and I love it too, The Night Begins To Shine, the rock '80s-style track that's Cyborg's favorite song in various episodes is currently my smartphone's ringtone (watch the clip here and enjoy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uR131...).
This volume, like many other static comic-book adaptions from animated series, was just as not good as the show that inspired it for me, but stories collected here were funny at last and little Giorgia just loves her daddy reading them to her at bedtime again and again.
My kids and I miss the 2003 Teen Titans cartoon. It was fun and funny, and also had some amazing messages. The new Teen Titans GO! cartoon foregoes the latter, opting more for irreverence and amusement rather than important morals, but there's still a lot to make us laugh. Teen Titans GO! volume 1 Party does a great job of capturing all that goodness—and the ridiculousness of the cartoon. From crazy stories about Robin and Beast Boy’s mini-putt show down, to demon pizzas, this has just about everything. It manages to capture all the over the top sight gags and ridiculous expressions and actions of the characters, which is something I was worried about when I started reading this. Translating an animated cartoon to a static comic book page has the potential to lose much, which was the problem I had with Adventure Time Vol. 1. But unlike the latter, Teen Titans GO! doesn't forget that imagery, colour, and movement are as much a part of the story. While it does not neglect dialogue and occasional plot points, it doesn't get bogged down with words, allowing the reader to move smoothly from panel to panel.
With thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this graphic novel in exchange for an honest review.
Hilarious collection of all ages short stories featuring the Teen Titans as portrayed in the latest cartoon show. These stories are funny and full of hi-jinx but still keep the basic nature and relationships of the characters that are so popular. Lots of superhero goodness as well with numerous bad guys including The Riddler and Captain Cold. Perfect for the younger comic fan!
If you haven’t watched the Teen Titans Go! series on Cartoon Network, I suggest you correct your error very soon. This wacky show where DC parodies itself is consistently hilarious and off the wall. It’s a bit like company-sanctioned fanfiction for the original Teen Titans series many of us remember from Cartoon Network in the mid-2000s.
So you think it’s awesome, right? I’m glad we’re in agreement.
Of course, when I saw that there was a new graphic novel coming out I couldn’t help myself. For fans of the show, this is exactly what you want. Clean, crisp artwork, consistently funny writing, and references to both the older Teen Titans show (Beast Boy and Robin have a bet; Beast Boy’s prize is Robin’s cape. One thing he might do with it is cut it into confetti and use it the next time Speedy does something better than him!) and DC Universe as a whole (the Riddler owns a mini golf course the Titans ruin, Darkseid judges a talent show a la X factor, Captain Cold is shocked when he freezes Robin solid)...
Албумът съдържа 12 кратки самостоятелни истории, а този fix-up похват винаги ми е бил много любим. Разбира се, артът и сюжетите са прицелени към детската аудитория.
Disclosure: I received a free copy of this book through First Reads. This has in no way influenced my review.
The Teen Titans are back in another version of their cartoon series (at the expense of my beloved Young Justice, but that's another story). Teen Titans Go! is is a zany, madcap show with the emphasis firmly on humor and this trade collects issues #1-6 of the tie-in comic book (with each issues having two stories). Yes, a comic based on a tv version of a comic book team. You get used to it.
"Tie-in" isn't a perfect description in this case. There's no real overarching plot to the series so there's no depth to be added or mysteries to explain here. This is quite simply more "episodes" shared in comic form. The art is very true to show as well. In fact it almost does too good a job copying the feel of the show overall - the adventures here are almost redundant since set-ups and gags are recycled with frequency in both. Without voices, music, etc to jazz things up there's a spark missing here that heightens the enjoyment of the cartoon.
But again this is a faithful adaptation of the shows characters and humor. As with any comedy it's hit or miss and entirely personal preference, but I found a few of the stories extremely funny and a number of amusing moments throughout the trade.
So nothing Earth-shattering here and some of the jokes are eye-roll inducing, but if you're a fan of the show and/or up for some light, brainless humor there are laughs to be had here.
I am watching this series (Teen Titans Go!) and when I found out it also had comics, I decided to check it out and see if it was just as good as the cartoon series is. I have to say this: yes, it is good. However. I would also recommend that people watch the cartoon series. At least one chapter spoils the outcome of an episode, and while in that specific episode it was quite clear what happened, I think it would still be a shame if you didn't watch it and later watched it and knew all about it.
Each chapter/volume brings a new story. In 1 the Teen Titans would be participating in an idol show, the other they are golfing. It is all great fun and I was laughing quite a few times at parts. It is great to see the characters in this format, and because I watched the series (at least the first one, I am still going through the other one), I could just imagine the voices with the stories. It really gave me something extra and made the comic more fun.
The art is pretty good, not always perfect, but it fits the silliness of the Teen Titans. The stories are all over the top, so it isn't too bad that the art is that as well. I still love the vibrant colours that always seem to be come with these Teen Titans, be it comics or the tv series.
Would I recommend this comic? Yes, yes, I would. But like I said before, be sure to also watch the series.
Ugh. I can’t believe I’m reading another Teen Titans Go! Comic after the lousy one I just read.
I can’t believe I got another Teen Titans Go! Comic! I hope this doesn’t suck as much as the last one did!
Oh, what a surprise, the first story is about eating. Cause kids love stuffing their fat little faces.
Well, the first story is one I read in the last comic. Also food related (‘Food Fright’).
The second story is ALSO a story I read in the last TTG comic (‘Par for the Course’).
The third story (‘Idol Hands’) is also in the 100 page giant I just read.
The fourth story (‘Party Party’) is also in the 100 page giant I just read.
The fifth story (‘Silicon Valley Cyborg’) is also in the 100 page giant I just read.
The sixth story (‘Robin the First’) appears to be unique to this book! And it was pretty lame.
The seventh story (‘Teen Titans Go… Fish’) is new. And also lame.
The eighth story (‘Prank’D’) is new. Okay first of all it’s about the Teen Titans making prank phone calls which I’m not sure are even possible these days. It says this was published in 2015.
And yet there is a joke in here about caller ID.
The ninth story (‘Don’t Look’) is also new. It was cute.
The tenth story (‘But Games Can Never Hurt Me’) is also new. And also lame.
The eleventh story (these are real short stories, ‘Sleep Over’) is also new. It’s actually pretty good. It has Raven doing the hokey-pokey.
Well, the last one wasn’t bad at all, but this was some pretty low-brow stuff and as much as I love the Titans, this is NOT really the Titans but some kiddy parody of them.
I’m giving this 2 stars (for the art) and donating it.
What makes this comic a pleasure to read is identical to what makes the show a joy to watch: they're both just pure, laid-back, semi-anarchic fun.
Teen Titans Go! (TTG) is irreverent, silly, and self-referential. It doesn't insist upon itself, nor does it try to be anything more than it is. This may sound like a backhanded compliment, but there's nothing backhanded about it. In the comic/cinematic/television landscape of mostly serious-borderline-dark superhero franchises, it's refreshing to be able to sit down and read something fun that isn't trying to fun and edgy. To make a Marvel comparison, this comic is more Squirrel Girl and less Deadpool.
Who wants to see just how involved a game of Go Fish can be? How about what a teenage superhero slumber party is really like? What happens when a series of prank calls almost ends in alien invasion? How do you feel about constantly taking the mickey out of Robin, the Boy Wonder? This comic features the heroes we know and love from the show continue being footloose and fancy-free while focusing on what they do on their off-days, when not catchin' villians.
With decades-upon-decades of canon to draw inspiration from (and parody), this first volume of the new TTG comic line is well-worth reading. It's full of great gags, humorous stories, quotable one-liners, and truly unexpected references (Oscar Wilde and Hammacher Schlemmer are two). If any of that sounds fun, then this comic is for you.
An enjoyable entertaining book with quirky characters who seem to love each other but also fight each other plenty. Robin leads the teen titans into sometimes mundane or obscure quests. This is a compilation of 6 comic book issues where they become employees of a silicon valley start-up company where Cyborg spends money endlessly giving grand presents to the titans...prank phone calls can be fun until you prank the wrong person.....Raven and Star-Fire try to have a girls only slumber party.....mini-golf becomes deadly for Robin and Beast Boy. Crazy antics, over the top reactions, egos and the desire to win lead the teen titans into unbelievable situations. Fun to read, very bright coloring, wonderfully drawn panels.
But I adore Teen Titans Go! It's funny and sharp and the overload on colours and talking is right up my alley. Me and my brother can watch this for days, my partner has enough after one episode. It takes a certain kind of person to like the show.
This comic wasn't what i expected. It felt too slow. An overload of things but at the same time not interesting. I feels unfair to compare the comic to the show but I do. And this fails.
Only the art I adored and gave this the extra star...
I've stated my love for Teen Titans many times and this was a fun venture. I do like the original Teen Titans and I find TTG! really funny. It's not afraid to poke fun at itself and I adore the animation style. This comic retained the same humor as the show and it felt like just another episode. A few issues felt out of place and threw off the rhythm. I liked the easter eggs in the background and the cute art style. This was a fun comic and I'll be sure to return to it when I need a little pick me up. I don't watch the show anymore but it was still easy to get all the references. I certainly don’t mind moseying back to Jump City for lil reunion.
it's so funny to me how raven is all dark and gloomy and mysterious but loves something bright and sweet like pretty pretty Pegasus. it's funnier too that some goth people are actually like that. she's so real
Супер много се изкефих на двете истории с шегите по телефона на Зверче и с това какво се крие в колета на Рейвън! Адските комикси, мега яките, дано издателство Артлайн да издаде още, че да си купя отново. <333
Plenty laughs had by Bruce during this one. My voice work needs improvement for Cyborg and Robin, but definitely have set tones and semi-impressions for the others.
