In this delightful children's story, young wolf cubs explore their big, new worlds. Uncle Wolf teaches two young cubs all about being wolves. They learn to be watchers and listeners and travelers and hunters. But most important of all, they learn about their pack―and being a family. Full-color illustrations.
While the wolves are given human attributes and thought processes, this does a respectable job of introducing young children to a mammal that is all too-often vilified in fairy tales.
Purchased in Yellowstone Nat’l Park for my grandchildren, this book belongs in the libraries of children from toddler to 2nd grade. The facts about wolves are surrounded by narrative text and beautiful illustrations done in gouache by artist Lucia Guarnotta. Momma wolf must go hunt with the pack, leaving her pups with a guardian uncle who shows them, through play, how wolves hunt, communicate, and live together in a pack. While deciding on the right section to shelf this gorgeous book may be difficult for librarians, it will be worth the dilemma! I vote for putting it in the place where it will be browsed the most!
This is a cute story with beautiful illustrations. Kids will love looking at the amazing pictures while learning how the wolf cubs are taught to use their keen senses to hunt and observe the world around them while being as silent as a... wolf.
A great little story about a day in the life of a couple wolf pups. The story is fun and the artwork is beautiful. Very recommended for young kids to learn about wolves and for animal lovers.
this was my favorite picture book when I was little. I found it in my room when I cleaned it and though of re-reading it. Why I gave this book five stars isn't because of amazing it is but because I loved it as a child.
