The Michael Morcombe Field Guide to Australian Birds is not a revised and updated book - it is totally new. The concept, text and illustrations have been crafted by a man who has made the study of birds his life for over 40 years. This is the definitive guide to Australian birds for the new millennium.
Brilliant book. It has been the most useful bird identification field guide I've owned. The descriptions are brilliant too. It lost 1 star because I have found birds out of their shown regions that weren't considered abnormal, and some species don't have pictures of the female (which have different plumage) and I have had to rely on google instead. But apart from that, brilliant. I've even converted a few birdos to this guide.
A great bookshelf edition that is used constantly to identify the little and no so little birds in this big country - how the junior/male/female differ is great for identifying
Not my favourite field guide to Australian birds, but a handy one to carry due to its compact size. I keep it in the glove box of our work vehicle so it is always handy.
