⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Went into this expecting a “guilty pleasure” kind of read but I was pleasantly surprised by both the plot and the quality of the writing. I wasn’t expecting the plot to be this intriguing (and in the words of the author with “a hell of a lot of tech language” that left me confused most of the time). Of course, it wasn’t anything extraordinary but for a book of this length it did what it had to do. The events of book two and book one happen simultaneously, so the reading order doesn’t really matter. I am excited for what’s to come in this series!

4.5/5 Someone should have held my hand during Sadist and my toxic adoration of Theo and Octavia - they’ve got nothing on Helena and Erryn. Holy MEOW kitty kitties.
Helena is so sexy and absolutely psychotic and perfect. A firm grip around her throat, sweet words of ownership during an orgasm, breakfast on ten plates with a side of ketchup and a little (up to them) bloodshed and murder…I mean she really is just a simple woman.
I’m not one to kneel but I might consider doing so if I would end up with Erryn’s heel to my neck. Idk man, I love a woman in a fucking suit. I understand Helena’s devotion.
If I were a new reader coming in to this series I think I’d prefer to start with this one and then go to Sadist. That betrayal Theo hands over hits me a little too much, even tho I’ve read Sadist and know - I think it would be better to experience it here as an introduction to Theo’s character and then go back and see why she might do such a thing.
Looks it’s late, I’ve got work in a handful of hours and I’m feeling very protective of my girls right now 😉

I much preferred this book to the first one in the series. The first half of the book gets a 5 from me, whilst the second half gets a 3 since it just repeats the events of the first book.
From the content warnings at the start of the book, I expected to hate Helena but I ended up really liking her. Although, I will say Erryn was still my favourite because I love an ice queen in charge. I thought they were a really good match together and there were some very sweet moments *necklace chapter I'm looking at you* that really lifted the tech heavy jargon that this book was literally filled with (but that's also in the content warnings so I knew what I was getting into).
I will just say that it really relies on you having read the first book in the series. This definitely can't be read as a standalone.

I fucking love Helena!! My god she was hilarious and totally unintentionally 🤣🤣
I will say, the contents warning page did make me laugh a couple times. I liked how it was written 😂
The last third of the book is on the same timeline as Sadist (book one)
Only thing was I wished, was that some of the spicy scenes were just a tad longer! There was so much potential for more. Not that I’m complaining because they were still very good! Just sometimes felt like they ended too quickly.
I wish the emails in the physical book were sized bigger! My poor old ass eyes could not read them at all 🤣🤣

Savage is a great addition to the world C.C. Davie is creating and I’m excited to see where she takes us in with the next instalment.
I’m also really looking forward to the inevitable next meeting between Theo and Helena. That’ll be fun 😏

3.6 ⭐️ Perfect for sapphics who want a dark romance action packed with a crime plot.
First of all, I have enjoyed both books in this series. I will say I preferred book one; personally I was more gripped by the romance in it, but also both books cover the same time frame so there was some plot overlap in book two (which led to less plot intrigue as I knew what was ahead.)
I had a great time reading both, and am hoping Davie adds more to the series because it felt like a lot was left open that could be covered. I find darker romances very hit or miss, but these I thoroughly enjoyed, so hopefully there are more planned…
The writing style I adored as always. I’ve read both Davie’s fantasy works, and also the dark romances, and all have gripped me. I don’t often gravitate towards darker romances, but because Davie wrote it I ran towards it with open arms and didn’t regret it.

Tldr: Fantastic chemistry between two sapphic leads hobbled by the previous book's timeline. 3/5.
Praise:
/ As mentioned, the chemistry between the two main characters is fantastic. Better even than the previous book. They were a great balance and the interplay between the two was really enjoyable. Obviously the sex is fantastic.
/ I did actually enjoy how the storyline of this ran parallel with the first book, weaving in between story beats and adding context. I got some answers to the questions the first book left behind, and I enjoyed experiencing the phone calls from the other side. That was clever.
/ I'd actually go as far to say this book is domestic/cosy... for contract killers. This is both praise and crit, but it allowed the relationship between the two to bloom naturally which was lovely.
Crit:
/ My major issue with this book is its pacing. When it's good, it's great. Too often however I found the book trying to contort itself to fit the timeline of the one before. There'd be long stretches of not much happening (so much admin) and then a rush of events to keep pace with the narrative running parallel. I felt the narrative of Savage was a little sacrificed to bolster Sadist, and didn't build enough of its own story to justify the decision.
/ A side effect of this was key concepts (Lena's secret) were massively underutilized and came far too late in the book. Though I enjoyed Erryn's power struggles, I was yearning for more interplay between the wider cast of characters that were introduced and under-used. Thank goodness Artemis is coming back!
/ I will say, for me personally, there was enough of a difference between Theo and Lena for me in terms of their voice. Both fell back on that quippy snark. But hey, Erryn clearly has a type.
Overall:
Did I have a good time? Yes, absolutely. Will I read Sinner? God, yes. I got a little taster of Artemis and wanted more. The only thing letting this book down is its pacing and the choice to marry it so closely to the previous, at the detriment of its own narrative. Thankfully, there's some great characters, sex, and a very happy ending.

This book is happening concurrently with the events of Sadist (Book 1), which I didn’t realize until I got confused at 50% when the Vanguard data breach happens and I was like wait… so THAT’S why Theo is still disgraced, I thought she got out?
Book 1 ended on a cliffhanger with Erryn stating “I need a hacker.” DUN DUN. So - why didn’t it continue from there? If you had to explain the Erryn/Helena relationship, couldn’t we just have some flashbacks and still propel the story forward?
This one felt really disjointed. I needed another 50 pages to flesh out things. I felt like I had missed a chapter somewhere… book 1 felt more cohesive.
My fake real issue is Erryn is the head of a crime syndicate dealing with data breaches, how does she have time to be doing all these intricate sex situations?
The sex scenes in this one felt incredibly tame in comparison to book 1. Like that had torture play and this just had fisting over a desk…
The book ends stating that Artemis (head of France branch) is leading book 3. Which I figured, since she’s the only other character introduced who isn’t a man/not dead in this. Note - I did like when I was like oh I really liked this side character, I hope they won’t die and then BOOM. Dead.
I’m not seeing any dates for book 3, but I will be reading cause I gotta know how having the Vitale organization (lol) getting involved with the Triarchy is gonna work!

There was no dishonorable discharge from the Triarchy. There was service, retirement, or termination. And more members were terminated than retired.
I wasn’t sure if I had just fallen onto my feet or into the fire, but one thing was crystal clear: I was prepared to do anything to keep that woman’s attention on me.
I was always here first, besides Ben, and I was usually the last to leave. It was the price of power. You gave your soul to pay for it, and the Triarchy had owned mine for a long while now.
She went without a single argument. And I realized in that moment I had completely and utterly fucked up. Because I had just found what made Helena Rossi tick. An invisible leash on an otherwise wild creature. And that was entirely too addictive.
I had more control than this. I had to have more control than this.
“You want to play this game?” she murmured, her lips brushing mine. “Because I will show you how it’s played. You think you can catch me off guard and disarm me?” She tsked, running her gun from my jaw slowly down my neck to my chest and coming to rest directly over my heart as she straightened. “Take it off then,” she ordered. “Or wh—”
But another, new corner of my mind was desperate to please her. I wanted her attention, and I didn’t want to give it back. It was a new high; now that I had tasted it, I wanted more.
“None of that,” she whispered, pressing the muzzle to the back of my hand and forcing me to increase the pressure. “You can come for me, Helena. I didn’t say it would be the only time.”
“Then show me how good you can be, Helena.”

4⭐️ I loved this book just as much as the first one and i love Erryn & Helena DOWN! Ugh, from the plot and danger to both of the fmcs being baddies in charge and then the ROMANCE.. i was truly sat and didn’t want to put this down! The build up of the romance was truly my favorite thing because Erryn tried to fight it and failed. I loved Helena like she was hilarious but also had so much depth. Then the spice?! SPICY, lmaooo. Ugh this is def one of my favorite reads!

I enjoyed the second book of the series wholeheartedly. It's an engaging tale filled with action, betrayal and a budding love in a secret organization of killers that gets infiltrated through their security system. Erryn is the Chair of the UK branch and Helena is an agent with a hot temper assigned to guard Erryn. I really loved the way Davie wove the action of Sadist, the first book of the series, with Savage. It was a seamless merge in the series. The action is topnotch, the interactions with all the characters of both books is very exciting and the romance between Erryn and Helena is as endearing as it is spicy. I do love dangerous, strong female main characters so let's round 4.5 up to 5 glock stars with a high recommendation.

Good book
This is the second book of the series we see it from Loxley's one of the chairs of the Triarchy POV. Things are not looking good for her and she needs a body guard but doesn't really want one. Savage is the second installment in The Triarchy Collection, a series of interconnected standalones. It runs parallel to the timeline of the first book, with familiar faces making appearances, so I’d definitely recommend starting with the first one to fully appreciate this world.
Erryn rules London’s Triarchy with ruthless precision until Helena enters her life as a bodyguard she absolutely doesn’t need. Forced into close proximity, their dynamic quickly shifts as chaos erupts within the organization, threatening everything Erryn has built. Suddenly, she finds herself caught between protecting her power… or risking it all for the one person who’s managed to break through her defenses.
This was such an engaging read. The story is packed with action, tension, and constant movement, making it incredibly easy to binge in one sitting. I was hooked from start to finish. That said, if you’re expecting a heavy dark romance, it leans lighter than you might anticipate. The darker elements are present but more subtle, and the romance feels softer overall, leaving me craving a little more intensity.
Erryn is a fascinating character: controlled, powerful, and undeniably intimidating, with that quiet, dangerous elegance that commands attention. At the same time, her emotional walls are firmly in place, which made it a bit harder to fully connect with her until later in the story. I appreciated the glimpses of her softer side, but I found myself wishing for more depth throughout.
Helena was much easier to connect with. She’s bold, impulsive, and brings a fiery energy that contrasts beautifully with Erryn’s restraint. Her humor was a highlight, especially in high-pressure moments where she naturally lightens the mood. Still, while I enjoyed both characters, there was a slight emotional distance that kept me from feeling completely immersed in their journey, like an invisible barrier that never fully disappeared. With that in mind, there’s clear potential for deeper character exploration, and I’d love to see that growth in Artemis’s book.
Because I didn’t fully connect with the characters, their romance didn’t captivate me as much as I had hoped. Their chemistry is evident from the very beginning, and I loved the tension between them. However, as their relationship develops, it leans heavily into physical connection, which worked in some ways… but I personally wanted more emotional intimacy to balance it out. I kept waiting for those deeper, more vulnerable moments that would truly solidify their bond.
One of my favorite parts was how this book expands and strengthens the universe Chaos Davie crafted. As the story unfolded, the threads connecting both books became clearer, almost like one larger, cohesive narrative. This added depth made me reconsider Theo and Octavia’s story from a new perspective, and the political intrigue surrounding the Triarchy became even more compelling. It’s definitely left me eager to see how everything comes together in the third installment.
Overall, Savage is perfect if you’re looking for a fast-paced, high-stakes romance with forced proximity, morally gray characters, and strong female leads—all wrapped in a world full of danger, tension, and intrigue.

I’m expected to write a review after the whirlwind of emotions and sex I’ve just read? Well, if Chaos insists, it is my pleasure.
Sadist, the first of the Triarchy Collection, got me addicted to good dark romance. I have impatiently waited for Sadist to hit my greedy arc-reading hands, and it delivered everything I hoped for.
Erynn Loxley is the perfect ice queen that holds herself together with steel and a violent tongue. Helena is a gorgeous chaotic mess on the end of Eryn’s leash (barely controlled deliciousness). I loved getting a deeper dive into the Triarchy through Erynn and I guessed the subject of the third book pretty immediately based on who I wanted to see more of.
But to THIS story. The physical connection was steaming, with that restrained yearning only lasting for the perfect amount of time. I loved how fluidly they fell to each other’s comforts, and even if we didn’t get to see as much emotional connection on page, I could feel the bond between them snap together. Plus, phew on the intimacy scenes. I’ll keep those thoughts away from my public profiles…
Savage was also more emotionally charged than I prepared myself for. I felt the knife in my gut twist deeply at the twists. So much so, I had to set it down multiple times to decompress. Even when I knew some of the events from Sadist, reading them from Erynn’s perspective hurt. I genuinely loved that she was frayed at the edges of it all, instead of pushing through. It showed how any character can break. Her ruthlessness was an added bonus to her character.
Helena’s energy was very appreciated. A feral, dangerous woman was a good cheery (bratty) opposite to Erynn. I loved how fluidly how she speak her mind and gave in to her impulses.
It also provided even more context to Sadist, which will make rereading a completed trilogy super sweet.
I certainly wish I had more of Erynn and Helena!
I appreciated the casual representation of neurodivergence and chronic pain management, too.

Okay… Savage was exactly the kind of dark, spicy, chaotic sapphic romance I didn’t know I needed. 😂🔥
Erryn Loxley is everything I want in a morally gray heroine. She’s powerful, ruthless, intimidating, and completely in control of her world—until Helena comes crashing into it and starts messing with that carefully controlled life.
And Helena? Girl. 😂 She brought a whole different kind of energy to this story. The chemistry between these two had me hooked because neither of them is willing to simply give the other what she wants. The tension, the power struggles, the banter, and the attraction made their relationship incredibly fun to watch unfold.
I also loved the balance between the romance and the darker crime-world storyline. There’s danger, violence, secrets, betrayal, and enough chaos to keep the story moving, but the relationship remains at the heart of it.
And let’s talk about the spice. 🥵🔥 Chaos Davie did NOT come to play. The chemistry between Erryn and Helena is absolutely 🔥, and the spice fits their power dynamic instead of feeling like it was randomly thrown into the story.
What surprised me most was how invested I became in both women. Beneath all the bloodshed, power, and chaos, there’s an emotional layer that made me genuinely care about what happened to them.
This book had me laughing, stressed, invested, and occasionally staring at the page like “EXCUSE ME?! 😂”

Savage is coming in hot with the most feral of personalities housed in the body of the Triarchy’s most problematic contract killer… Helena. She’s hot, she’s unhinged, she doesn’t like her food touching and she certainly doesn’t like anyone messing with her woman 💅

This time from that of one of it's chairs, the ruthless and calculating Erryn Loxley, head of the London branch. She is forced to deal with a major infrastructure breach and the ensuing chaos it wreaks across the the Triarchy.
One element of this chaos is Helena Rossi, a French/Italian agent with a murky past and hair trigger. She also happens to be one of the most effective agents Erryn has at her disposal, so when she needs personal protection, her choice is easy.
However, Helena isn’t easy. She is AuDHD and while she is effective, dealing with her neurodivergence isn’t always easy. Seeing the way Helena pushes back and consistently challenges Erryn and pushes her out of her comfort zone is so enticing to watch. If you have read Sadist, you get to see some of the events that lead up to the events of the book.
While this book is less dark than Sadist, it is no less intriguing, spicy, engrossing, and absolutely impossible to put down. While not as heavy, there are definitely still some power dynamics at play, some gun play, and plenty of warranted (or unwarranted, if you're squeamish) violence.

Alright, let's talk about these characters. I am in love with both of them. They both have incredible depth and the trigger warnings absolutely sold me on this entire story before it even started. I wish we had more of the DoC, iykyk.

call me helena because i too want to unalive theo. it’s funny how i ended my review of sadist by appreciating how chaos davie wasn’t afraid of framing erryn in a villainous lense, only for the author to pull a uno reverse and making the so-called heroine of the last book the “bad guy” of this one – talk about a full circle moment, the parallels of it all gutted me (no pun intended). regardless, these two as a couple are leagues above most other sapphic dark romance couples because what’s better than one savage woman? two. i am both a whore for women who could kill me and a lesbian with mommy issues so of course the older masc is my favorite. i will say, though, the ending felt a bit rushed; i believe it was a missed opportunity to not further expand on the mafia element that was briefly teased, but never delivered. hopefully, that will be a plot explored in the next book given artemis love interest wasn’t introduced yet.

This was such an intense, dark romance. I really liked the power dynamic between Erryn and Helena because their relationship feels dangerous from the beginning. Erryn is used to being completely in control, so watching Helena come into her life and start disrupting everything she’s built was really interesting.
Erryn was definitely the character who stood out to me the most. She has this ruthless, intimidating presence as the ruler of the Triarchy, but her relationship with Helena brings out a much more vulnerable side of her. I liked seeing someone who seems to have everything struggle with something she can’t simply control or command.
Helena also adds a lot of mystery to the story. There’s clearly more to her past than she lets on, and I enjoyed watching those pieces slowly come together. The romance has this constant feeling of danger because you know there are real consequences to Erryn choosing love over power.
Overall, this was dark, dramatic, emotional, and definitely not a fluffy romance. The political intrigue, secrets, power struggles, and forbidden-feeling romance kept me invested, and the darker atmosphere made it stand out.

I truly don’t even know where to start with Savage. C.C. Davies (Chaos Davie) is one of my favourite authors, but this novel… oh boy. This one is special. THIS is why representation matters. Honestly, I joked with CC that she must have cameras hidden in my house because I have never felt more seen in a piece of fiction.
We’re back in London’s Triarchy, and this time we’re following Erryn and Helena. Erryn is one of the ruling Chairs of the Triarchy, and Helena is the woman who completely upends her world. Watching these two absolute badasses work through their issues and slowly let their guards down for each other was everything.
But the standout for me was Helena. Helena is me. Seeing her neurodivergent traits, such as her happy humming/stimming, portrayed so authentically made me feel so much less alone. Next time I’m humming away, I’m going to think of her and smile. It’s rare to find a dark romance that handles neurodiversity with this much heart while still being, well, Savage.
The pacing was spot on! I inhaled this in one sitting. It runs parallel to the events of Sadist (Book 1), so you’re seeing that same timeline but through different eyes, with some delicious crossover at the end. And the spice? Top-tier. Chaos Davie really knows how to write chemistry that jumps off the page. Expect lots of action, some twists, laughs, heartache, and men getting put in their place!
It’s dark, it’s spicy, it’s a little unhinged, and it’s deeply moving. Thank you so much to CC for the ARC; being on this team is such an honour, and I am officially waving my OG stan badge forever. I am excited for the next book!

Helena had become my addiction. And I wasn’t sure how to regain control.
Oh my god, I love Erryn and Helena, I may just be obsessed. Strong ass women dominating their fields, a lot of chaos, a lot of dark humor, sprinkles of murder, the sexual tension, god damn, the dildo of consequence and the praise. This book was phenomenal. I literally laughed out loud many times, I related to Helena quite a bit, especially when it came to her food sensory issues, I was invested in the great pea/corn divide and I like me chicken to not be bonified too. I loved the power dynamic between the MCs, and how Helena continued to push every damn button Erryn had the whole way, so fucking good. It was really cool to see the parallel timeline come together with Theo and Octavias story, the other side of everything that took place and my god it was so good. I just can't recommend this enough.

This book - no, this entire series - holds my heart, soul, and sanity hostage with every page. It is absolutely everything I could ever want in a book: morally grey sapphics with guns, political intrigue, tech lingo written perfectly so I can pretend to understand, more plot than spice, but also a LOT of spice, and of course, characters you just can't help but root for.
The fact that I can't pick a favorite pairing, Erryn and Helena or Theo and Octavia, even throughout their rivalry, is a true testament to Davie's skills as an author. I also love how both books show the spicy bits from both the dominant and submissive characters' perspectives, something that I've noticed is unfortunately all too rare in sapphic romance. Maybe straight romance, too. I wouldn't know because ew.
I was truly counting down the days for this release, and I fear I will be counting down the days until the release of Artemis's book, as well. So thank you, Chaos Davie. You have officially ruined me. Please do it again.
