Sigh
This book starts with a very un-redeemable hero. The things this POS “man” said, did, and thought about the heroine were dog 💩
(Possible spoilers ahead)
📍He called h ugly and other awful names
📍He was ashamed of her
📍He flaunted OW
📍He LOVED OW
📍He wouldn’t send a healer for h
📍He gRaped h
📍He pushed h
📍He had her arrested
📍He rejected her
📍He let his pack treat her terribly
📍 He wouldn’t provide her with heat during the winter
📍 He left her in a dank prison
📍 He had her fed only moldy bread
📍 He left her to give birth in prison
📍 He lets OW “visit” h in prison (which means torture h)
(I’m positive there is more. That’s all I could remember. He needed his face busted in)
So the backstory- it had been prophesied that H was going to mate with a “divine Luna” who was the most powerful Luna of all. H was completely embarrassed when h turned out to be his fated mate. He was ashamed of her. Period! Her face had a huge birthmark. He really wanted his fated mate to be OW.
h has been sick a lot (OW poisoning her), but H won’t send a healer because he sends the healer to OW. Seriously, OW is always crying out that she needs him, and he goes running like a punk.
He really wanted it to be OW because she was soooooooooo beautiful and sweet, and everybody loved her so much. 😜
He was so mad that he didn’t even do a proper ceremony for the wedding with h. He couldn’t “stomach the pathetic fated mate bond with h”
He couldn’t stomach her but that mate bond was so strong he was forced (rightttt) to go fuck her. Great guy. He was so disgusted by her scars that he made her turn over during sex. He couldn’t even look at her

It was a spicy scene, but yuck. He rolled off her and felt instant regret. Eek
h overheard OW telling somebody that she has been poisoning h. OW wanted h to die.
h also found out she was pregnant, but H brushed her aside when she told him.
h literally only has two friends, Mira and Leon. But Leon definitely acts more than friendly with h.
Leon was giving h comfort one day after she saw H rubbing all up on OW. H got mad.
Then, H gRaped h. He was so mad with jealousy because h was talking with Leon. He takes her back to his room, she’s begging and crying for him not to, and he does. 🥴 yeah, she got “pleasure,” but she was still crying so hard at the end. She did not want that hate fuxk.
Anyway, OW gets stabbed and h gets accused. OW has some weird magic where she can hurt herself, but it actually hurts h. (I almost DNF here. This was so beyond terrible)
H rejects h in front of everybody, says he’s marrying OW now. He also sentenced h to prison. h is yelling out she’s pregnant, but H won’t believe her- and if he does, he thinks it’s Leon’s baby.
For months, h stays locked up in a dank room. Only moldy bread. OW comes once and tortures her.
The day of the wedding. It’s also the day h gives birth. h passes out. A seer stands up at the wedding and lets H know his daughter has been born.
This a-hole H is all of a sudden worried about h. He leaves the wedding without marrying OW, goes to the prison, and sees it's completely ruined with blood everywhere. His baby girl is lying there. Oh no- she has the same birthmark on her face. h is nowhere to be found; everybody thinks she’s dead. The pack has a celebration. The super helpful uncle tells H he needs to kill the baby.
5 years later.
h is still dreaming of her kid, except Leon told her the baby died.
(Come on, people! You’re shifters. Use sense. It’s clear Leon is probably working with OW and the super helpful uncle)
At the same time, we see that H married OW. His POV tells us many times that he was never intimate with her.
He’s actually been super annoyed by her antics. We also find out he didn’t ☠️ his baby. In secret, he snuck the baby to another property, and Mira is raising her. (He’s ashamed of the birthmark on his kid’s face, too) a-hole
Ugh
Anyway, h has a strong dream about the little girl. She knows her baby is alive. She decides to go back for her. She’s not going to tell Leon because she knows he will talk her out of it.
Btw- after the prison exploded, h lost the birthmark on her face completely. She also ended up with a crescent moon tattoo on her hand

h returns and H is immediately all like ILY AND ONLY YOU! wtf? He’s going to “change” and win her back. 😂😂 This absolute moron, h, decides to stay. Holy fk, there is no way.
I’m just going to skip the last 40% of this book because it was dumb and predictable.
Super helpful uncle was behind everything. Leon was a vampire. He wanted h’s powers (which she never even used except once), and OW was just some pathetic woman. They all died violently. Thankfully
Karma that H ended up with a busted-up/scarred face at the end. I did laugh loudly at that.
So..H was married to OW, but then at one point, h goes “I’m still your wife” 🤷♀️ BUT then H and h get married at the end.
The bond was rejected, yet it reignited immediately.
I guess the authors are now like “forget the shifter rules.” WHO NEEDS RULES? Umm, I think at the very least you should explain who the heck the MMC is married to.
This book annoyed me. The MMC was not redeemable.
The whole plot was just bad.

Hang on you might want to get comfortable second chances and more. Ella makes you want to reach in giving her a huge hug telling her it will work out, that she is a diva, but sometimes life has to show you she has loved her childhood friend since before she could remember and when their bond sparked to life she couldn’t be happier until he looked at her with total disgust (I already dislike him). Kyle sexy as all get out dumb as all get out couldn’t see her scares so he stood by why things happened to her by others knowing they were mates but he couldn’t see himself matted to her and when she is poisoned he throws her into the dungeon where he leaves her to be tortured she gives birth to their baby but her baby didn’t make it. Kyle didn’t realize that was the catalyst that broke it all for her he is about to learn love and hate are two sides to one coin. But just as she grew stronger in everything around revenge he learned the truth and wants her back will do what it takes to earn her back but he doesn’t realize nothing he can say or do to bring her back has he damaged her too badly, will she stick with the one who has shown her love despite her flaws, will she let him back into her life, where are they headed, is there anything he can bargain with, and are they meant to have happiness?

did not enjoy
Weak character progression and plot development. To be honest, the name Kyle just took me out of the story. It’s a romantasy and the hero is named after a fratboy gym rat. It was downhill from there. The writing was stilted, almost robotic. The author had Ella saying Kyle’s name in every other sentence as if afraid the reader might forget who she was speaking to.
Redemption was not really there, courtesy of pushover Ella who so obviously was playing hard to get. You’re telling me being abused, humiliated and robbed of your own child is not enough reason to resist the very man responsible? Be for real. Kyle should have been condemned and yet Ella was just doormat enough to let it all slide after a single meeting. The fall and fall of a jellyfish woman. There was never a rise. Only the illusion of one shattered quickly by the stupidity and naïveté of a foolish heroine.

It was an enjoyable read.
I have to be completely honest. While I did enjoy the story, I was pretty predictable at times. Somewhat repetitive at others, and a bit lackluster some moments. The spice factor was definitely there and the way the artist described the scenes was impressively descriptive. Definitely 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️* tier although the there were just a couple of those types of scenes in the book. I do feel like there may have needed to be a trigger warning for *grape” in the book though. Some of the interactions made me uncomfortable to the point I’d skip entire pages. The storyline was good, the story itself being both heart wrenching and heartwarming at different points. A true story in redemption and trying to make up for past mistakes. In conclusion, am I glad I read it? Yes, is it one that I couldn’t put down? No. Is it one I think I’ll ever read again? Probably not. Overall it was a decent read that killed time while I was at work. Only took a couple hrs to get through it and though it says it’s part of a series, I don’t think I’ll persue the others in the series though.

several stupid plot points
I mostly enjoy the author’s books but this one had me rolling my eyes a bit at the stupid plots. These books are a bit formulaic but still enjoyable. There’s a lot of OW drama with the H falling for the OW and getting manipulated by her. He rejects the h and too late, learns to regret it when he finally sees through the OW lies. He’s really quite brutal to the h in the beginning which leads me to question how the h can love him? She’s an abuse victim that takes him back. Not a message these books should be sending when you think about it. In this one, the H finally realizes that the h is ill but when the healer comes, the h kept her pregnancy a secret. That made zero sense. She also failed to tell the healer or Kyle about the poison. Even if they didn’t believe her, she needed to get it out there. Really stupid.

Vertical Drama
18+, XXX. Adult content, reader discretion advised. There are not many sex scenes and two of them read as rape. Readers read at your own discretion. That said this book reads like a vertical drama. It's engaging and cringe filled and a heroin who doesn't fight until it's nearly too late. A hero who is concerned about looks and not heart leading to pride and abusive behavior. There are three villains. One wants to be Luna, one wants to be Alpha and one wants the Luna's power. The biggest enemy and problem is the hero is a narcissist who is killing the heroin.

Impact on Emotions
Kyle is not too happy to discover that Ella is his fated mate which spurs harsh treatment, manipulation and betrayal. This story was suspenseful with an emotional impact that could not be ignored. Kyle's decisions were often unforgivable which made it difficult to to enjoy his redemption. It was definitely an interesting premise overall.

This story dragged. Like maybe each big situation could’ve been its own book. Possible spoilers:
I mean random vampires, people trying to overthrow the alpha, side chick psycho, alpha acting oblivious, the way the kid talked.
I dunno what I wanted out of this but there was a lot going on. Like pick 2. I’m exhausted and I had to skim just so I could finish. Also- there was no mention of a lycan so I guess that’s supposed to be assumed?

The beginning was quite good with lots of OW drama and unfair treatment of the heroine. I will not comment on the H/h weeding night that is closer to rape…
The part of the book that happen 5 years after is full of inconsistencies. The revelation about Lilian lies are abrupt, the treason of his uncle, Leon… nothing add up.
And the shifter part ??? It’s completely absent during 90% of the book. It only justify the fated mate and pack hierarchy. M

so bad.
I wish I'd never even read it. I liked the premise but the writing was awful and confusing. There was no explanation on time changes there were many areas where it felt like it was copied and pasted from previous areas of the book. Like whole paragraphs and pages. I kept reading hoping it would get better but it never did.

had potential
However the ending fell a bit flat for me. I would have liked to see them develop more in their relationship. Seemed too easy to slip into a normal couple in the end and with the script of him being disfigured just felt off. Seeing as how she had a harder time with it and then she was just supportive of it. Didn’t feel earned.

I really enjoyed reading this book. He was another one of those harsh alphas that almost nearly destroyed his mate before he finally got it right. I liked the fact that our Luna was a strong woman and made him grovel plenty. I also like the fact about the alpha face at the end.

Great Read!
I really enjoyed book 1 in this series watching Kyle and Ella travel their very winding road to finally finding their HEA. I'm looking forward to reading book 2 in this series and will definitely recommend this book to everyone.
I really enjoyed book 1 in this series watching Kyle and Ella travel their very winding road to finally finding their HEA. I'm looking forward to reading book 2 in this series and will definitely recommend this book to everyone.

It was a good book. I just felt like the end was rushed. We didn’t get a look into their future together at all. And I still can’t understand how he was so blind with Lillian.

Not any different than other books of this genre. The bad score comes from the completely unnecessary *ape scene at the beginning that is never dealt with or mentioned again.

Great book
One of the better supernatural books I've read. The storyline was original and had a lot of suspense. Keeps you reading when maybe I should be doing more productive work.

A fantastic story
I loved this book, Elle and Kyle had a very rocky start. It was full of mystery and plots. I could not put this book down, and didnt want it to end either. A great wolf shifter romance.

The characters are despicable. Weak female lead, taken advantage of. Untrustworthy mate, let off the hook because they're 'fated'. Terrible.

I’m a delicate flower. The fight scenes, while incredibly well written, it read mire like gory horror.
