MOUNTAIN COVE: In the Alaskan wilderness, love and danger collide

Her books have sold more than 1.5 million copies. She is a Christy Award, Carol Award and Reader's Choice Award winner and a Daphne du Maurier Award and HOLT Medallion finalist. Elizabeth Goddard introduced us to the Warren family and the fictional town of Mountain Cove in the first book of this series, Untraceable, which was released in March 2015. This is the fourth installment in the series, but this book as with the first three is in my opinion a stand alone story.
In Submerged we travel back to Mountain Cove located in southeast Alaska and meet Cobie MacBride and Adam Warren.
Adam is very adventurous, but that's not surprising coming from the Warren family. Unfortunately Adam has been trying to deal with numerous things and has just about reached his wits end. Adam loves spelunking, caving, and has agreed to help his friends map some caves off the Alaskan coast. Regrettably Adam lost a friend years ago to a caving accident and he has yet to put that grief or guilt behind him.
Cobie has a prosperous dental practice in Mountain Cove and feels it gives her the one thing she needs, stability. Growing up she would go for months without seeing her father because family always came second to his job. The death of her brother 5 years ago was still fresh in Cobie's mind and probably not something she was soon to forget. A woman out of Seattle notified her she hadn't heard from her father in months and had reported him missing. Cobie decided to search the known place he had been in hopes of finding some clues to his whereabouts.
I loved this book and the dynamics between the two leading characters. Elizabeth Goddard's ability to weave words together is amazing. The first few pages drew me in. This book has a good flow and pace that keeps the reader's attention. The characters are are very complex with very real issues, but so lovable. When important factors are brought to the surface the characters find things more complicated than they ever imagined.
As with every book I look for a spiritual message. The message I received from this book was one of forgiveness, not only in others, but also in yourself. We all make mistakes. Sometimes holding on to the past can prevent you from having a future.
I would definitely recommend this book and series to anyone. It has a wonderful romance interlaced with an adventure and suspense.
I received this book from the author for a honest review without bias or outside influence.
Submerged is a love inspired suspense in the Mountain Cove series by Elizabeth Goddard. It is a Christian inspired book which means no graphic sexual scenes and no obscene language. It does deal with the Faith the characters have. Cobie MacBride is headed to look at a cave in Alaska. This was the last place her Father’s journal put him. He went missing six months ago, although she didn’t know it for months. She and her Father were estranged, more so since her brother’s death. Now Cobie was alone. As she sits by the cave opening reflecting on her Father, she is attacked and held by the throat. She is going to die! She is no threat in size for the man attacking her. Why did he want to kill her? As she was on the verge of blacking out, she felt a rock beneath her hand. She grabbed it and hit him. Luckily she hit him on the head and knocked him out. He began coming to and she ran while he began chasing her. When she came out of the woods, she was above the second opening of the same cave. It opened on a cove. She could see a trawler coming closer. She had only one possible way out and it didn’t look good. However, she took a chance and jumped! Members of a search and rescue team from Mountain Cove were on the trawler. They were coming to the island to map the cave for the Forest Service. They saw her jump but were so concerned about her that they didn’t see the man on the cliff. Adam Warren was on deck and began preparing to make a water rescue. That is if they could get close enough in time. He knew the water was so cold that she would lose control of her extremities quickly. He finally was close enough to dive in and managed to rescue her as she was on the verge of giving up. It wasn’t until he saw her on deck that he realized he knew her. Her brother had been his best friend and Adam was unable to save him. He knew Cobie blamed him. That was in the past, why did she jump? Thus begins the adventure Cobie and Adam embark on as they try to figure out why someone would attack her. It definitely keeps you on your toes. It is a great suspense with a lot of action.
This book hooks you from the first page! It also keeps you turning the pages from then on! I found myself saying, "What more can happen to poor Cobie (the main character)?" She goes through so many terrifying things, but as a reader, that just makes a book great! I really had a hard time putting this book down and found myself reading it in 2 days. Cobie didn't have a very good relationship with her father, who was an archaeologist and was never around when she was growing up but he's been missing for several months and she has his journal so she decides to go to the last place he was, to try to find answers - a cave on an island in Alaska. She doesn't count on being attacked by a masked assailant and then finding her dead father in the cave! While she's running for her life, she jumps off a cliff in the ocean and who should save her but the one man she didn't really want to see again....Adam, who she blames for her brother's death! In this book there is a treasure ship, secrets, a bomb and danger at every turn! Cobie and Adam are trying to stay one step ahead of whoever is trying to kill Cobie....but WHY are they trying to kill her??? Read the book and find out!!!
To say I enjoyed Submerged is the epitome of understatment. This story took me by surprise over and over again. I love the way Elizabeth Goddard paces her books. She has a rhythm as natural as breathing.
Cobie and Adam show intense sparks, suppressed at their first "on camera" meet up. Their troubled past association is revealed slowly, and it seems to effectively doom any future they might have together. And yet, Adam can't leave her to defend herself alone against someone who has murderous intention. With each attack on Cobie's life worsening, the futility of any blossoming romance is the least of their worries.
The lingering pain would destroy a relationship before it began, anyway.
Oh, and believe me, the relationship between these two is every bit as intriguing as the twisted mystery and suspense that surrounds their new interaction! Well worth the sleepless night I took to finish it!
Another awesome page turner, heart thumping, suspense from Elizabeth Goddard. I love this series and the 4th book in the Mountain Cove series is just as wonderful as the rest of the series. It was well written and had me guessing till the very end. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
SUBMERGED ( Mountain Cove series #4 ) By: Elizabeth Goddard
Submerged is the fourth book in Mountain Cove series. Even though it is in a series, my opinion is that you can read it as a stand alone. I have read the others in the series and let me tell you that you are in for an action filled ride. Elizabeth Goddard has did it gain, She has written another Inspirational romance suspense that will grab you right from the start and holds onto you till the very end , and what a ride in Mountain Cove, Alaska. Cobie has a good dental practice in Mountain Cove. She lost her brother five years ago and still having a hard time. News that her father, who she has not been close to , is missing. She has to try and find out more about his where about. That is if she can stay alive. Adam is a long time friend of Cobie’s , but she blames him for her brother’s death. Adam was planning on leaving for Christmas , but with Cobie looking for her father, how can he leave her by herself? He must try and keep her safe. Her life is in danger , but can he protect her ? Will the past keep them apart? I really enjoyed Submerged and holding onto my seat ride. I was given a copy of this book by the author for my honest review, which i have given.
Submerged is an exciting, romantic adventure and a great addition to the Mountain Cove series. It can be read as a stand alone book, as well, if you haven’t read the other books in the series.
The story immediately dives into action, and Cobie finds herself fighting for her life. Strange events and the need to learn what really happened to her father, lead Cobie on a dangerous and disturbing search for clues.
One of the things that I really enjoyed about this book is that Cobie is thrown together with a man she hoped never to have to see again, Adam. These two have a painful event from the past that hasn’t really been forgiven. This adds some good tension between the two. But, even better, there is romantic tension, as well. The possibility of a relationship between the two ended years ago…or did it?
I really enjoyed Submerged, and have enjoyed the entire Mountain Cove series. I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Once again, Elizabeth Goddard delivers an action-packed story filled with intrigue and suspense. From the very first page, Cobie MacBride finds herself in danger and running for her life, all the while seeking answers about her father’s mysterious disappearance. When a blast from Cobie’s past comes to her rescue, these two discover a treasure they never expected. I really enjoyed Cobie and Adam’s story and look forward to more Mountain Cove adventures!
Submerged is the fourth stand-alone book in the Mountain Cove series. Fans of romantic suspense are sure to enjoy this story, as well as its predecessors.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review. All thoughts expressed are my own.
Six months after her estranged father's disappearance Cobie MacBride travels to Kessler Island, Alaska, to explore a cave that he wrote about in some of his last journal entries. But near the mouth of the cave she is attacked, escapes and is pursued to a cliff's edge. She jumps. She is pulled from the icy water by an old friend, Adam Warren. These two have issues around the death of Cobie's brother 5 years prior. When her house is ransacked and her life is threatened again they need to find out why and how her father was involved. A decent mystery with inspirational undertones.
THE SUSPENSE IN THIS BOOK HAD MY HEART RACING, it was so well written. Though I kinda suspected the killer, it still doesn’t stop this from being a good book. I recommend this book if you like action-packed mystery novels.
I gave it 3.5 stars just because I kind of figured out the killer. Also, it was slow in some parts and took me awhile to get into. But do NOT let those things discourage you from reading this book! 🤩
This was by far my favorite novel in Elizabeth Goddard's Mountain Cove series! I have enjoyed her writing throughout the series, but she outdid herself on this one!
I very much enjoyed the story line and loved hearing more of Adam's story. He hasn't been one of my favorite Warren siblings, but he is now a close second to Cade.
Its hard to say what exactly was my favorite part of SUBMERGED, but I think it was the romance and mystery of the gold. The romance was subtle, but was powerful in the message of forgiveness that was woven within it. It was wonderful seeing both the characters reconcile and truly be able to love one another as they desired all along. The mystery of gold was epic! I liked how the author made a twist of events concerning Cobie's father and what he had found/was looking for.
Overall, this is an excellent, fast paced suspense read. Highly recommend it to fans of suspense!
*(I received this novel from the author in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts expressed are my own and I was not required to write a positive review.)*
I have read newer books by this author so I started checking out her older LIS Harlequin books. I love "series" books so fortunately I was able to find all of her Mountain Cove books online to read even though this is an older series (2015-2016).
This series is set in Alaska and the author did a beautiful job with the imagery of the area, along with describing the beauty and danger that can lie between the mountains.
Each book in this series has its unique story and characters but they all tied back together with some of the characters mentioned in previous books and were located in the same Mountain Cove, Alaska area.
I really enjoyed this fast paced, suspenseful, romance series and would highly recommend! I read each book in less than a day because they were so fun and easy to read.
This was a vivid suspense set in Alaska. The amount of time the characters spend in freezing water did leave me feeling pretty cold but the intense action and the related mystery was really well done. I continue to enjoy this Alaskan series and am going to have to hunt down the rest of it at some point!
This was a solid LIS installment. I liked the characters, the plot kept me invested and there were a few surprises along the way. I jumped into this miniseries in the middle of the set due to library return dates and I am excited to go back and catch up the ones I skipped. Enjoyable read!
I enjoyed reading this book. I suspected from the title that it would make me claustrophobic, and it did. Has a little surprise at the end which caught me totally by surprise. I love it when a book surprises me!
Wow, this was another page turner from Goddard where you just have to know what happens to the main characters! Cobie and her father have not spoken since her brother accidentally drowned years ago, but she recently heard from him and then he goes missing. As she tries to uncover clues about his disappearance, she almost gets killed several times.
Adam sees Cobie jump from a cliff and dives into the water to save her. From that moment, he's involved and he'll do anything to right a wrong that happened between them when her brother drowned.
I thought the bad guys were way too greedy in this one, they really make it obvious who they are with each threat they issue to Cobie, however, the suspense was well written and kept me captivated!
Cobie knows nothing can happen between her and Adam, but she has never stopped caring for him and if they can survive her father's mystery, maybe she can finally forgive Adam.
I really liked both characters, but I understood Adam's annoyance with Cobie for not listening to him when he consistently tries to keep her safe. He's really a great guy who needs to figure out his next step. When Cobie comes back into his life, he's determined to protect her even though she constantly pushes him away. I admired his strength and stubbornness.
Looking forward to more of Goddard's books, she knows how to keep the reader's attention!
An exciting story. Read about Cobie MacBride. She goes to find some answers about her dad's disappearance then someone tries to kill her. Will Adam be able to keep her safe? Will they find her dad and what is going on? There are several twists and turns.
The Mountain Cove Series has been such a delight to read. The newest installation in the series is very good, not my favorite out of them, but still an excellent book.
Cobie MacBride is quite the female protagonist. I loved the spunk she displayed, had a bit of a hard time with how much she caused Adam trouble, though eventually she does let her guard down around him. See, Cobie blames Adam Warren for her brother's death years ago, so when he turns up to rescue her, she wants nothing to do with him. But they are kind of thrown together and must rely on each other if they want to escape the killer who keeps going after Cobie. Could it be related to her father's disappearance? Will Adam be able to save her from the assassin bent on her death?
There is quite a bit of mystery and that is what I really love in Elizabeth Goddard's books. They are fun and interesting, but the whole "trying to find out who done it" is my favorite part. A great installment in the series and I cannot wait to read the next one.
"The latest book in the Mountain Cove series has the feel of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and has a key theme of the lost — and not just material treasures, but self — being found. The historical elements are well researched and add to the appeal" (RT Book Reviews, 4 stars).
Mostly takes place in the Alaskan wilderness. Trying to find out what happened to her father almost gets Cobie killed. Adam insists on keeping her safe whether she wants it or not. She blames him for her brothers death. Can she forgive enough to accept his help?
I really just did not enjoy this book. To me it was hard to get into and Cobie was annoying. I really am not into the theme of the book which is shipwrecks and buried treasure. I don't think I will ever read this book again.
Good book that keep you guessing who the suspect was. I was surprised with who ended up being the suspect. A must read for someone who likes to solve...who done it!
