The Quarterback's Heart #1

Intercepted by Love: Part 1

Rate this book
Pro quarterback Cade Prescott's last play was to lose the Super Bowl for his team. To escape the bad press and recover from the disastrous season, he changes his appearance and hides away at a sleepy university town.

Andie Wales's first love is researching ancient bad boy kings. She is blissfully unaware of the Super Bowl and modern day bad boys. When her dog meets and mates with Cade's dog, Andie's first concern is to get her dog to a vet. She gets waylaid by Cade and his hunky good looks and has no idea just how out of her league Cade is.

Despite his secrets, Cade feels differently about Andie and thinks he might be falling in love. Unfortunately, his past catches up with him, and he is forced to make a difficult decision. Can a professional athlete and a research librarian truly prove the axiom that opposites not just attract, but were meant for each other?

Andie is really weird to me at first. The fantasy about old kings and biblical men is really really weird to me. Like I almost stopped reading because it was that weird. But I am glad I continued. Very easy fast read with a decent storyline for being so short. Cade and Andie couldn’t be more different I mean a librarian and a football player, opposite ends of the spectrum. But the chemistry between these two is great! This is a typical both people have been hurt in the past. But in this book they don’t run from their attraction it just comes so natural. Definitely glad I kept reading :)

Ms Ayala has done it again.

At first, Cade and Andie seem like an odd match given their professions (football player and librarian), however, Ms Ayala makes it very believable. If at all, their chosen professions take a backseat to who they are as people and you're able to see them for who they are - not what they do.

When they meet sparks fly, irregardless of the snafu with their dogs, and they fall headlong into an affair that exposes their inner desires and past hurts.

Ms Ayala is one of my auto-buy authors and I love that her characters are not generic. They are flawed and lovable and gloriously imperfect that you can't help but feel for them - sometimes it's wanting to give them a hug or a glare and ask them what the hell they're doing. But ultimately, you'll find yourself rooting for them.

The passion and romance between Andie and Cade appears to develop very suddenly, however, once you get to know them, you'd realize that it's actually perfect for them. Again, it wasn't generic, but unforced and natural. I tell you, it can't get any better than that.

The dogs, Red and Gollie, are so freaking adorable - even if they do get in "trouble" a lot - and their antics cute.

My favorite part of this book was Cade's vulnerability. Despite his past hurts, he wasn't afraid of pursuing Andie and letting her see/know how he felt. He wasn't afraid of being open with Andie and that is a very precious thing indeed. If at all, Cade reminds me of Matthew Sky from "Night Owl" by M. Pierce. Both are seriously flawed and, I'll use the word again, gloriously imperfect characters that you can't help but love unconditionally.

I really did enjoy this book and, even though there is a cliffhanger, I'm okay with it because it ended on the right note and the other parts won't take forever to get here.

So...once again, great job Ms Ayala.

My heart is still full from reading this beautifully touching and refreshingly raw story of two people deeply hurt and scarred by their past who have chosen to push past the fear and dare to hope for more. Their search for peace and comfort have led them to each other, and while the path to their future may be filled with more struggles then they want, deep in their heart they can’t shake the hope, longing, and love that they have awoken within the other. Love knows no bounds, and hope will not fade even in the midst of the darkest of storms.

Andi considers herself a simple and content girl. She has a decent job that allows her to pursue her love of history, and she does everything she can to help her mother care for her ailing father. She believes that she is happy as she can be until she unexpectantly meets a huge brute of a man who turns out to have the biggest heart she has ever seen. Her heart won’t let her shut him out, and she finds herself doing the impossible – falling hard for this man who is a mere stranger to her. Cade has come to Andi’s town as a way to hide until he is ready to face the problems he has created back at home. The last thing he ever expected was to find the feisty and intriguing Andi. He doesn’t know how to have a real relationship, so he fumbles and trips up a few times trying to figure out how to do the whole dating thing. No matter what he can’t and then doesn’t want to fight the undeniable attraction to this remarkable woman who sees more of him than anyone else cared to. Can he prove to her that he truly loves her in spite of who he is, or will the secrets from his past ruin any chances with Andi and a future filled with true love and endless happiness?

Andi is such a wonderful character with the unconditional love she has for her parents. She doesn’t shirk from her responsibilities because of her deep and appreciative love for those who raised and cared for her. No matter how hard things get, she still does what she can to help out. Cade is one who has never been shown what it is like to truly love and be loved. Andi couldn’t be more perfect for Cade at this point in this life. Her deep love and unwavering devotion is exactly what he needs to breathe new life back into him and give him the strength and determination to turn his life around.

Rachelle Ayala has scored a huge touchdown with this brilliant story! The characters are incredible with their realistic feel and the powerful emotions that can’t be hidden or stopped. I see so much potential and beauty in this series, and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Cade Prescott was a football superstar. He was used to having several women at one time, none who meant anything at all to him. He was filling in for another player during the superbowl and didn't win the superbowl for his team. He knew because of his mistake that's why the team lost. So he ran away and went into hiding so to speak. He went to this little college town and pretended that he wasn't a superstar. He met this librarian and things changed for him. He fell in love with her.

The librarian Andie Wales was a big King David fan. She thought Cade Preston as she knew him was an animal breeder who traveled for his job.

This is a cute story. It made me laugh and cry. I am in the process of reading the rest of the books in this series and think you will enjoy them all as well. Anything I read by this author truly amazes me. She can tell a story and make you feel like you are right there in the middle of things. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this short book and will be reading the next ones to find out what happened. This one ends on quite the cliffhanger!
Cade is a pro football player who is trying to hide out. Andie is a librarian who doesnt give her heart away anymore after what happened when her ex became famous. The two together are very cute. And I really enjoyed the humor added in with the dogs. Who doesnt love dogs?!

There will be cursing!

This is a rant, for character stabbing, I apologize now for there will be cursing!

Please don’t misunderstand this rant as the book being bad. No, this is a 5 stars, do read.

This is a rant of rage that characters evoke on your soul as you read.

I will try to clean this up once done with the appropriate symbols, but I want to punch a b@#$h so bad right now!

This chick is supposed to be her friend? Oh hell no!

She was all too eager to let stuff slide when she wanted to f@#k the guy, but now that he is f@#$%^g her "friend" she's gone all hostile!

The dude is embarrassed and hiding away from the paps. Cut him some slack! So he used a fake name and a fake story, but damn, just about every celebrity out there does it. I'd assume her brother that gets bad press is the douchebag that did Andie wrong. Cause he sounded as s@#$%y of a person this chick turns out to be.

I would of told the b@#$h I was going to sue her for all that money she is getting for the story and that she better hope she has no skeletons in her closet, because I'm going to dig them the f@#k up right now. Oh, and if she said stupid s@#t to make a more juicy story, I would start making up s##t about her and my "working conditions".

Seriously, I would make it just as unpleasant for that c@#t as she was making it for me.

I can't believe this is going to be in six parts!!!!!!! I'm not going to make it!

The new b@#$h at the end is going to be extra people I'm going to want to fictionally punch in the face, I just have the feeling in my gut!

I will probably need the time in-between the books to calm down! So that will have to hold me over why I wait for the last two to be completed in audio, which has been confirmed by the author (Rachelle Ayala) and the narrator (Chris Abell) that it will happen! So be on the lookout for it!

It’s good writing, just be prepared to want to commit character murder before the book is over!

A full proper review will come soon, after I have a chance for the murderess rage to subside and can write it without cussing! :-)

I was lucky to be able to read the beta copy. Great job I loved Andie and the nerd that she is. She is a bit obsessed with King David and his story. Cade has ran away from his life as a pro footballer and things have gone badly for him. He needs to get his head right and he meets Andie at the library she is not impressed by him. Cade tries really hard to win her over but she is not so keen. She has no idea who he is as she is not a sports fan and she just thinks that he takes his dog around the country and studs him out. They spend more time together and Andie finds that she likes Cade even though she thinks that he could be on the FBI's most wanted. Cade finds Andie refreshing as she just accepts him even though he won't tell her anything about himself. Andie has so much to worry about her Dad's had a stroke and her Mom can't afford home care and to matter matters worse her dog Gollie has escaped and Cade wants too much from her. She finds out who Cade really is but she is not angry just wished that he had told her. But woe what happens next will shock you. Can't wait fo the next book in the series

The story of Cade and Andie (first of 4).
Cade is famous for being a pro football player, and screwing up in the last minute of the Super Bowl to cause his team to lose. He shaves his head bald, grows a beard, wears colored contacts, and heads off to the other side of the country to hide out for a while from the press.
Andie is a librarian, obsessed with King David (of Biblical fame).
When they meet in the library, Andie is in a bit of an embarrassing situation.
An interesting attraction ensues, with both of them second-guessing each other at various times.
I really enjoyed the first part of this story! I really felt as if Cade grew a lot as a person, even in this short bit of the story. It's a light little romp with some funny moments.
I wondered how the author was going to end it, and boy was I surprised! What a cliffhanger. I can't wait to read book #2!

I read part one of Intercepted by Love on the author's reader page. I intended to read only a little because I have to do it on my pc. I couldn't stop reading! I loved the story. The characters grabbed me once Cade got over his superstar status, which happened immediately based on events prior to the book.

The idea of a librarian fixated one an ancient man also made me pause for a second when I met Andie, but her fascination was so well woven into the story and so personally thought out that I found myself trying to remember what I knew of King David. I adored Gollie and Red, those dogs brought a wonderful mixture of emotion including laugh out loud humor. Then there is Cade, yummy but so much more. When we learn of his background, it is easy to see where his superstar ego came from but also easy to see why he would fit into a small town with a special woman.

Cade Prescott has just made the biggest mistake of his football career - throwing an interception in the Super Bowl and causing his team to lose the game. Needing an escape from the press, he heads to Itasca to take some time to recharge.

Andie Wales is a librarian and an expert on King David. When Cade walks in on Andie in a somewhat compromising situation Andie is horrified, but not as horrified as when she sees Cade's dog Red mounting her dog Gollie.

As Andie and Cade begin to get to know each other, they both develop strong feelings for each other but it is only after a serious event that they really realize how much they mean to each other. But when the truth about Cade's past comes out it may be too late.

This book is the first in a series and does end with a cliffhanger!!

Such a touching story. I was hooked on this story from the get go. Partly because I love Andie's Character who is a Librarian who is obsessed with King David. As a book reader I can't tell you how many times I have been obsessed with a character I have read. Anyways back to the story Andie meets Cade who had lost the Super Bowl and needs a break. Going incognito he meets Andie and soon both of them start in a attraction/ connection kind of thing that is sealed when both their dogs have a thing for each other too.
Can Cade and Andie have a relationship? Will their feelings go the long distance or will they be separated by past events? I am going to have to read the rest of this series and hopefully soon to find out!!

I was provided with a copy to read and review via the author for an honest opinion.

This is the first of Ms. Ayala's books that I have read and I am smitten... I am a lover all romantic sports books. This book was most definitely field goal worthy. A sweet romance about a super star athlete who was down on his luck and went into hiding after failing to win the Super Bowl. Cade Prescott changed his identity and name so that he could have some time off with out being hounded by the press. Andie who works at a college library got caught by Cade fantasizing about Kind David and soon the two became pretty cozy. I do not like cliffhangers that much but was lucky enough to read the next book. What a fabulous set of books this is going to be.

Be prepared to spend your afternoon with this couple once you start reading! Couldn't pull myself away as I dove into this lusty book. Cade and Andie are hot! Even though they try to deny anything more than physical attraction going on, I couldn't wait to see what would happen when they started seeing each other differently.

They are both great characters. I love how independent and strong Andie is. I think the thing I love most about Cade is learning about his past and seeing the man he will grow into as the series develops. The secondary plot of them both loving dogs and working together because of that was intriguing too.

My only complaint? The darn cliffhanger and the fact that the other book isn't out yet! A fun read and I look forward to the remaining books in the series!

What a touchdown in a heartbeat. I love this new book of Ms. Rachelle Ayala. It strikes you right to your heart. Cade forgets his popularity after losing the
Super Bowl. He wants to have a break from his normal life where no one recognizes him. He met Andie and gives him perspective to fall in-love and respect women differently this time. The story is so beautiful. It deals with family, emotion, love for animals and adventure as well. You will also laugh while reading it. The book has a sweet story. I love the kindness and the humbleness of the characters and the twist that goes with it too. True love happens when you less expected it. I cannot wait for the second book.

Cade and Andie definitely don't seem to fit the bill of romantic partners. Cade is a pro football player and Andie is a librarian. Not exactly a match made in heaven.

The initial meeting starts out in the library where Andie is fast at work fantasizing about King David when she is interrupted by Cade. Thinking she'll never see him again she heads outside only to find that her dog has other plans; she is all about Cade's dog so Andie is stuck hanging out for awhile. And things begin to smolder from there.

It is a very well written first installment to what promises to be a great trilogy! I can't wait to read what happens next with this odd couple I have come to love!

This review is from: Intercepted by Love: Part One: A Football Romance (The Quarterback's Heart Book 1) (Kindle Edition)
What happens when a football player meets a librarian? A lot of passes off the field, which Rachelle tells with such talent. I love her books and she didn't disappoint with this one. I love the beginning to Cade and Andie and their dogs Red and Gollie!! If you're looking for a new series, this is a must read!! You have an unpredictable story with twists that I didn't see coming. I can't wait to read the rest of this series to see what else is in store for us.

Intercepted by Love is a steamy read! While the lead female character is a librarian, she's definitely a feisty one while Cade, the professional quarterback, is so sweet and loving despite his past days of being a total player, both on and off the field. Despite Andie thinking Cade is a potential axe murderer, the two fall hard and they fall fast... as do their furbabies! I'm glad the dog drama was wrapped up in this story but now I can't wait to find out what happens next with Cade and Andie.

When it comes to athletic action, on an off the field and track
Rachelle Ayala doesn't disappoint
But this,
This was a level of genius I have not come across since Lemony Snicket"s Series of Unfortunate Events
There is just something about characters who have the odds stacked against them that is particularly endearing, something about unforeseen/ unforeseeable trials and shortcomings that make you want to root for them even more.
Cade and Andie have that... in triplicate.

This is a great story and you can tell that it was more lust at first sight than love. She is a librarian and he is a football player that lost the big game. Cade just wants to go somewhere where he won't be recognized. Andie has family obligations with her parents and she has no idea who Cade is. There are places in the story that are questionable(the female dog was "supposed" to be spayed by the rescue and wasn't) but overall it is a good story that ends in a cliffhanger.

Could not put this down! I haven't read many books by Rachelle Ayala but I will be reading more! The characters were both strong & independent. They've been hurt in the past & are cautious to trust. Cade is hiding after losing the Super Bowl. Andie was hurt after trusting her boyfriend & he left to go to Hollywood & the girls & parties.

I love the heat between Andie & Cade. The dogs were a great addition. I just hate the cliffhanger!!

This book is wonderful, and hard to put down. I love watching Cade court Andie, and all the fun they have, from hanging out in Cade's apartment, to riding snow bikes down the mountain. They always seem to have a good time, and heat things up. I love that Red and Gollie seem to have a budding romance as well.

I really enjoyed this book. This book has so much humor, love, and realistic feelings in it. And dogs! I love it when a book has pets in it! Rachelle Ayala has a way of making you truly believe the love and passion the couple shares. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the story. If you are on the fence about whether or not to try this book, give it a chance. It is so worth it!

First book.

This is my first book by Rachelle and I have to say I loved it. Her writing is great and the flow is seamless. My only wish is that this story line didn't last over many books. I like things wrapped up in one.

**This is the review for the audiobook version of this book on Audible**

I'm a First-Timer!

As the title of my review suggests, I'm a first-timer when it comes to listening to steamy romance audiobooks, such as this one by Rachelle Ayala. Intercepted by Love: The Quarterback's Heart, Book 1 was one I'll never forget...they say you never forget your 1st...but it seems like it won't end here for me because the cliff-hanger at the end has me wondering what happens next!! :-)

At first, I wondered a bit how this was all going to turn out...a guy narrating a steamy romance? Well, I definitely think Narrator Chris Abell did a fantastic job! His voice was perfect for his own character, as well as the others! Not one time did I feel distracted by the fact it was a guy speaking the words and thoughts of a female. I think most of the books I have listened to have female narrators, so not only am I not used to a guy narrating, but from some that I have listened to, I get a bit bored. Not here! Chris Abell does an excellent job!! He kept my interest the whole time, and he sounded exactly as I imagined him to sound! He was easy to understand, had great pace, and perfect volume. I couldn't find anything that would prevent me from listening to more of the books he has narrated. In fact, I have even started sampling some of his other work. :-) Keep it up, Chris!

Right away I knew I was going to have no problem staying engaged in the story. I LOVE dogs, and I LOVE that the books I have read from Rachelle Ayala all have animals playing a central role in the storyline. Unless you are not an animal lover, I feel including them in the story makes the plot and characters more relatable to the reader, more realistic to everyday events, and much more exciting! In my opinion, the inclusion of animals draws in more readers (like myself) who wouldn't normally read/listen to books of this genre. Way to go, Rachelle!

I give Intercepted by Love: The Quarterback's Heart, Book 1, 🎆5-stars🎆 across the board. Even though I have nothing to compare it to, I felt that the performance was right on, and the storyline was entertaining! Truthfully, I didn't know what to expect with a book like this....I just assumed it would be a long narration of sex...hehee! Now I know otherwise! I'm glad I chose to dip my toes into life on this side of the fence because I learned it wasn't bad at all! Rachelle Ayala, thank you for being my first! I will remember you 4-Life! :-)

Thanks for reading my review. I hope it helped.

When Cade threw the football in the last seconds of the game, it left his hands with a wobble and he lost the Superbowl for his team. To escape the bad press Cade shaved his head, let his beard grow, and traveled to a sleepy college town in upstate New York. Browsing in the library one day, he stumbled across head librarian Andie in a not-so-prim-and-proper position in the archives. Cade was instantly attracted to her, and when they found their dogs "stuck together" later that day, Cade thought it was the perfect excuse to see Andie again. But Cade couldn't reveal his identity or let her expect more than a quick fling. At least that's what he told himself when she popped into his thoughts over and over again.

This was a fun romance that flung the typical hardened athlete and meek librarian tropes out the window. When the story began Cade was a player who handed out literal gift bags to his many female partners. He didn't respect women because he was surrounded by the kind that only wanted his money and fame. Andie was a scholar, burying herself in research and struggling to support her parents. She'd been hurt in the past and refused to let a man close enough to hurt her again.

As the story developed, Cade was revealed to be a sweetie with a painful past. And Andie had a bit of an unhealthy obsession with King David and his *ahem* staff. She was full of life and spirit. Together they were a great combo.

This was a steamy read that ended on a cliffhanger. The narrator brought a lot of life to the story, he read at a good pace and performed the character voices well. I voluntarily left a review and was given a copy of the audio at my request.

Wowza! Grab a cold drink and turn on a fan. Rachelle Ayala is bringing the heat!

When Cade's career turns Super Bowl disastrous, he hides out in a college town with his dog, Red. Use to having anonymous sex with many women, he isn't certain about relationships. Andie is the librarian, devoted to her parents and her dog, Gollie. She gets her romance from hot dreams of King David. Would a bad boys searing touch be able to compete with fantasies of a bad boy King? When their dogs meet and mate, Cade and Andie are tossed into each other's paths. Will they be able to move forward from their pasts to be mated, too? Only the dogs know.

This is a story that will bring tears to your eyes, giggles to your mouth and heat to other parts. Football Widows, cuddle up near your honey and those amazing snacks on a chilly, fall football afternoon . Forget the blanket. You won't need it.
