As the nerd that went to bed with a flash light to read the books I swiped from my mom’s room, I have always been an avid book lover. My favorites are hot, alpha male heroes (think Kristen Ashley), suspenseful, romantic thrillers (think Sandra Brown) and poignant, sweet love stories (think Abbi Glines or Colleen Hoover). My plan was always to be a writer of some sort, but somehow real life responsibilities got in the way. Now, I am an accountant with a night time writing obsession.
One Saturday afternoon, I took my girls to see the latest teenage movie. Four days later, I had read all four Twilight books. I was inspired by the innocent romance and 'Edward Cullen' (don't judge). Once I found my way to Fifty Shades of Grey, I was a complete goner. All my spare time was spent reading, writing or blogging. After version one million, five hundred and fifty five of my series Reawakened , I'm finally ready to share it and hope that someone enjoys reading the story as much as I have enjoyed writing it. This one's for my mother. I hope she's looking down proud because I finally finished what I started.

4 Jackson Montgomery stars
Congrats to Mari Denae on her first book! I have to say I love the cover of this book. When I was asked if I wanted to read this book I took one look at the cover and thought yes. Yes, I am a sucker for beautiful covers. Then I read the blurb and knew this was going to be a great serial. Reawakened Secrets is the first of three books that tells us the story of Claire, Jackson and Alice. No, this is not a love triangle story. This is about three friends who grew up together and a fleeting romance between two.
Alice, Claire and Jackson all met when they were young. Alice and Jackson both came from rich families. Claire grew up with Alice because her mother was one of the house servants for Alice's family. Even though Claire did not come from money, Alice never treated her different. All three became friends as kids when Jackson came over to play one day. Even from a young age, both Alice and Claire wanted Jackson.
As they got older, they all became best friends. Claire always felt inadequate coming from a less privileged background and was grateful to have Alice and Jackson as her two best friends. She always thought Jackson and Alice would become a couple, so she kept the fact that she had fallen for Jackson a secret. She couldn't risk loosing her friendship with either one of them. But during a party after graduation, Jackson and Claire end up together. Alice walks in, sees them, runs out, and the next thing they know someone screams Alice is hurt and left in a coma. Jackson goes with Alice in the ambulance and they both disappear from Claire's life for ten years.

Clair has moved on with her life and has become a neurosurgeon. Then one day she gets a call that Alice is awake and wants to see her. She's lived with the guilt of putting her friend in a coma for the last ten years, but now she's awake. This is good news, right? But does Alice remember? Will she forgive Claire? Will their friendship remain once she knows of Claire's betrayal? Then on top of that she has to face Jackson again. And she has to face the hurt and feelings of being used all over again. But she wasn't expecting him to come back and have him profess his feelings to her, that he still wants her. But she's just not sure she can trust him. He did leave to take care of Alice for the last ten years and never once tried to contact her.
Jackson is up for the challenge though of earning Claire's trust back. He's had to put his life on hold for ten years to take care of Alice, but now he's trying to finish some business so that he can focus on Claire. He's met with resistance from Claire though. He knows he has to win back her trust and heart. Luckily the attraction is still there between both of them.
The question is, will he feel the same once he finds out Claire's secret? Honestly, I guessed the secret early on. I think most people will, but the story is so well told that I didn't mind. There something mysterious about Jackson though, so I don't think Claire is the only one with a secret. I'm very excited to keep reading to see what that is.
Jackson was the ultimate gentleman though and told Alice of his feelings for Claire. Getting her blessing was so sweet. I really want a happy ending for her. I am hoping that there is something between her and Dr. Adam. I love how he calls her "Sleeping Beauty." He knows how to push her buttons and enjoys doing it. I can see a hate/love relationship brewing between these two.
Part 2, Reawakened Sins and Part 3, Reawakened Seduction will be released early next year.

Give it up...give up to first time author Mari Denae! No I haven't read her work before but this was a delicious masterpiece!
Three unlikely childhood friends and one tragic accident, changes the hands of fate.
Some secrets aren't meant to be told, no matter the consequences. How do you stop a full on collision and manage to keep your heart in tack?
Claire has lived that unanswered question; breathe the uncertainty and guilt for the last ten years.
While Mari Denae is new to the field, she comes across as a pro. Intrigued by the cover and suspenseful summary I was sucked in. I was literally unable to put this wonderful ARC down. Definitely an author to pay attention to. Can't wait for part 2, Reawakened Sins

Eleven years ago, Claire was best friends with Alice and Jackson.
Alice & Jackson were very rich kids, and Claire was just the daughter of Alice's former nanny.
But they played together since they were toddlers.
It was always known and understood, that one day, Alice & Jackson would get married.
But that didn't stop Claire from falling in love with Jackson.
And he might have had feelings for her too, but then something happened.
Something that ended with Alice in a coma and with Claire leaving to go to College.
Now, years later - Claire is a surgeon in New Haven, - when the call comes.

I REALLY LOVED THiS BOOK!
It was pretty short though :/ But book #2 will be here soon.
We already know that Alice and Adam will get their own book. Adam is the neuro specialist doc assigned to Alice's case.
The story was really cute and told both in the present and the past.
What I didn't really understand is why Jack was gone for 10 years and now he wants Alice back. As if he was just gone for a few months or so... BUT, I still loved reading it and I can't wait to see what will happen in the second book. Everybody has some secrets left to tell.....but I want them to get their HEA!!!!
REAWAKENED SECRETS was a really cute and short second-chance romance...but there are still some secrets and lies to reveal!!! Can't wait for book #2 ☺

5 I Want More of Jackson Stars
Love it.
Claire is very stubborn first of all and two, I love Jackson character. He got a mystery/secret going on. Alice, I like her character and I def want to see a HEA for her. Please let her have a book with Adam. Adam calling Alice "Beauty" is a wonderful endearment.
I only have to put the it down cause I'm at work and apart from that, I,would finish reading in one sitting. Writing style, at first I thought its historical romance but it's not.
Ending, cliffhanger of course lol. I wouldn't have it any other way. Leaving me wanting to find out what Jackson would think of her hidden secrets. I would def read part 2 to this Ebook serial.
What would make it better....every song he sang is for Claire. I love romantic novel.

5 “Big girl panties” Stars!
I’m hooked, and can’t wait to get my hands on the next part of this series!! This was a one sitting book for me, and I was done in 2 hours. LOL!! Reawakened Secrets is a quick and intense start to what looks to be an action packed series. During the first installment, we are thrown back and forth between present and past for Claire, Jackson, and Alice, who are all childhood friends.
“Bracing myself for the shock of seeing him, I forced my shaky hand to reach for the door.”
So, here we are with one hot, sweet, and rich guy, and two best friends with the same crush. I got excited at the thought of a love triangle, but for those who hate love triangles, you will still enjoy this story. I kept waiting for the sparks to fly, good and bad. Their story is filled with many secrets, though. BIG secrets!! And of course, we are left at the end of Reawakened Secrets with the much anticipated secret being told. Then….nothing!!! Grrrrrr!!! It is going to be hard to wait for the next part, and I am anxious to see how things play out.
“I have lived with the possibility of him hating me for ten years. I don’t know if I can deal with the reality of it.”
All three characters are very amazing in their own ways. I am rooting for them all to find a HEA. Jackson is VERY swoonworthy!! And both of the girls are good to one another, which is heartwarming to read. There is none of that back stabbing and caddy high school crap with them…thank goodness!!!
This is a new author to me. I was pleasantly surprised by her writing style, and I can’t wait to get my hands on more of this story!! I am all team Claire and Jackson ;)

I enjoyed this book, left me wanting more. The storyline is interesting, parts describe the past, going 10 years back in time. And the present left me really wanting to know more about the years between the past and present, and what secrets needs to be disclosed. The three friends Clarie, Alice and Jackson grew up together and was close. Until a night changes everything and they go on without each other. 10 years later, secrets from that night and new secrets will need to come into the light.
I like the story, short and easy to read, i feel the characters have sooo much potential and i hope we can se a development in the next books in this series. Some parts of this i could not really connect with the development, but still i enjoyed it on sooo many other parts it really was not a big issue. Jackson has this hunter thing going for him - that works. Hot as fire in my opinion, and lets be honest - if anyone got that attention and effort he directs towards Claire we would be melting too. So even if she could have been a bit more harder to get, i really cant blame Claire for her weakness. And her friendship with Adam, loving that playfull banter, great character that does his part in this story, looking forward to more of him hopefully.
Cliffhanger ending just so you are warned.

Claire is hiding a secret which stops her from trying to move forward with Jackson after Alice (who also loves jack) gives her the blessing. Claire's fear is though once she tells Jackson her secret he will hate her.
The book basically ends half way through Claire telling Jackson the secret she's kept. Major cliffhanger! Can't wait for the second book

First off all I would like to say I adore this cover… it is so beautiful!!! Yeah I love to look at beautiful covers but I always choose a book a book with a good and interesting blurbs. This is the first book of the three books that tells us the story of Claire, Jackson and Alice. First I thought this is all about a love triangle which I hate to read but thankfully it wasn’t a love triangle but instead tells us the story of Claire, Jackson and Alice.
Now Alice, Claire and Jackson met at a very young age and both Claire and Jackson comes from rich families. Claire grew up with Alice and even though Claire had no money, Alice never treated her differently. All three became friends when they were kids and even though they were young both Claire and Alice wanted Jackson.
Claire thought knew, from a young age, that Alice and Jackson were meant for one another, so she always felt guilty for her feelings she had for Jackson. I mean she fell in love with him, but one day Jackson started looking at Claire differently. She kept that a secret because she could not lose her friendship with either than them. I absolutely loved this book. The only thing I hated was the time jump between the first and second chapters. As this is the beginning of a connected trilogy, this book ends with a cliff-hanger. This is the only reason why I’m not giving this book a 5 star rating. It’s not too bad, but there are things that need to be said and half-truths that have come out. I can’t wait for the other books in this series. I want Claire to feel worthy of love she deserves, and I want everything to be out in the open and accepted.

Claire grew up in the servants quarters of what became her best friend Alice's home. She was always the lower class to everyone at school until their friend Jackson began taking up for her. He never let anyone get away with putting her down, teasing her or making her feel bad.
As they grew up together she fell in love with Jackson. The only problem with that was Alice. Claire was certain one day she and Jackson would marry, leaving Claire to feel awful about her feelings towards Jackson and to hide them.
Their senior year in high school, one last party, Claire is feeling left out watching Alice and Jackson. She runs out only to be tracked down by Jackson. At this point things change between them. Alice stumbles upon them and freaks out, as she runs off she has an accident that puts her in a coma.
Jackson disappears, Alice is in a hospital and Claire is all alone. Heart broken and lonely she has no choice but to try to make a life for herself without her best friends who have always been by her side.
Years later Claire is a neurosurgeon, she finished college and is one of the best in her field but she's lonely and carries guilt from the day of Alice's accident.
One phone call changes her life.
After ten years the voice on the other end of the line is Jackson. Alice is awake and asking for her though she doesn't remember her accident.
Putting her guilt and fear of facing Jackson aside she rushes to the hospital to see Alice.
It's as if she never found out Claire and Jackson fell for each other, she speaks as if the last ten years never happened.
When Jackson's feelings for Claire come to light Alice is more accepting that they thought she would be, she's actually pushing Claire to go to him. Just when it looks like everything may just work out, Claire knows she has to tell Jackson another secret, one that could push him away forever.
And cliffhanger!! Cannot wait to get my hands on part two, it can't come quick enough for me! I'm absolutely addicted to this new author, this well written story had me falling hard for the characters, it lacks nothing (except the ending I was hoping for!!)

And cliffhanger!! Cannot wait to get my hands on part two, it can't come quick enough for me! I'm absolutely addicted to this new author, this well written story had me falling hard for the characters, it lacks nothing (except the ending I was hoping for!!)

Claire Brown has never thought she fitted in, not with the people at school and definitely not with Jackson Montgomery or Alice Sinclair although for some reason they want to be friends with her regardless of the fact that her mother works for Alice's family.
The story jumps from the present time to ten years previous, it gives you the back story as to the events leading up to Claire's life now. I would be lying if I didn't say that with every new twist in the story that I didn't get a bit more excited about the big revelation that was drawing nearer.
Claire has always had feelings for Jackson, but she knew that Alice had always wanted herself and Jackson to end up together, so Claire has always hidden her feelings until it got too much and she gave into what she wanted for years. Although, what should have been a dream come true turns into disaster when Alice has an accident after seeing her and Jackson together.
Claire never thought she would hear off Jackson again after that night, that ruined not only her friendships but her life as well. Until Jackson calls her, she doesn't know what to make of it, especially when it seems like Alice has no memory of the events that led to her accident. I NEED book 2 like NOW! Intrigue, suspense and a plot that left me wanting more!

This was one of those books that I hurt giving it a 4 instead of a 4.5 -- but I have a feeling that the other books are going to blow this one out of the park, so I have to give room for that growth.
Eleven years ago, Claire was best friends with Alice and Jackson. Claire was from the wrong side of the tracks, and often felt that Alice and Jackson simply put up with her because she was the nanny's kid. Claire knew, from a young age, that Alice and Jackson were meant for one another, so she always felt guilty for the feelings she had for Jackson.
One day, Jackson started looking at her differently. And while the guilt was there, Claire let herself believe -- but all of these events lead up to the single one that had Claire estranged from her two friends for the past eleven years.
I absolutely loved this book. I wasn't a huge fan of the time jump between the first and second chapters -- there was a huge jump of time but with it, many questions. The author chose to do a flip-flop, back and forth, type chaptering for the beginning, so those questions do get answered; I just wasn't a fan of the way they were answered.
As this is the beginning of a connected serial, this book ends with a decent cliff-hanger. It's not too bad, not too steep, but there are things that need to be said and half-truths that have come out. I am truly excited to see how it all plays out; I want Claire to feel worthy of the love she deserves, and I want everything to be out in the open and accepted. Time will only tell.

I knew before I started this book the potential level of angst for this book was high. However I had a feeling I was going to enjoy watching everything unfold and I was right. Claire, Jackson, and Alice have been friends since childhood and were inseparable until an accident put one of them in a coma. When Alice awakens, ten years have passed and their friendships are all shaky.
I wasn't really able to get a full read on Alice, Jackson, and Claire in this book. I knew Jackson had feelings for Claire and she had feelings for him, but that was it. I felt like I got to know Claire the best in this book since it was told from her point of view and I liked what I saw. It quickly became clear Claire had a secret that had the potential to hurt them all. I had an idea of what the secret was, but I was in total disbelief at how the book ended.
This was a fast read. It felt like I started and finished it in no time. I have a feeling things are going to become murkier before they are settled again and I'm really eager to find out what's going to happen next between these child hood friends. Mari Denae has done a wonderful job at setting the stage for the next installments of this book.

Claire, Jackson and Alice grew up friends. Claire was the helps daughter, however never treated that way by the other two. They became her protector from those less civil. Everyone assumed Jackson and Alice would end up together. Claire had a crush on Jackson from their first meeting.

Beautiful cover, beautiful story, bring on book 2! It is a short story, but it packs quite a punch! Claire, Alice, and Jackson are childhood playmates even though Claire's life is nothing like the others. Claire knows she doesn't belong but Alice makes her feel like she is her best friend and Jackson makes her feel feelings beyond friendship. When tragedy strikes the three are torn apart and life goes on. However, no matter how far you try to run sometimes fate brings you back to where it all started. Great story, strong characters!

This is a short book, but there is so much packed into its pages! This feels like a taster for the main event, with the author providing the whole back story before teasing us with the set up for book 2. Bearing that in mind, I would say that the author has done a good job of creating characters with depth and personality.
And, whilst I guessed what the secret was, I didn't expect the reaction to it.
Overall, a competent and interesting start to a new series. I await book 2 with interest.

This book has all the elements that I really look for in a good book, but it just didn't grab me emotionally or give me any big twists or surprises, but it seems that there is hope for those things in the other two books in this series. I loved the characters, but their reasons and motivations for their choices seemed a little unclear to me, but perhaps those also will become more clear in the next two books. Despite being mildly disappointed with it, I'm very much looking forward to seeing where they story goes with the next two books in this series.

I really loved it but I wish it hadn't finished so fast. I hope the second book comes out soon and would be a little longer than this one. So I'm gonna rate this as 4 stars.

This is the debut novel by Mari Denae and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed this sweet story. Reawakened Secrets is a very heartwarming novel that has heartbreak, friendship, and surprises all wrapped up in one lovely story.Mari Danae has given us a story that will suck you in and keep you there from start to finish ,and then will leave you wanting more from this author. The characters were well written and very charming ,and the story was exciting and the storyline flowed smoothly.This is a story of friendships of three friends ,who grew up together, and the romance that grew between to of them. Claire ,Alice and Jackson they all met when they were young. Alice and Jackson both came from well to do families. Now Claire was the daughter of one the house servants ,but Claire wasn't ever treated different even thou came didn't come from money ,it didn't seem to bother Alice that Claire didn't come from money .Then one day Jackson came over ,and Claire wanted to know who he was and Alice told her ,about Jackson then said I'm going to marry him one day, Claire also said me too. As the years pasted and they got older they became even better friends ,Claire always though that Alice and Jackson would be a couple,so she kept her feels to herself .She just couldn't risk loosing her friendship with either of them. But after their graduation Claire and Jackson ends up together .But to there surprise Alice walks i on them ,and runs out and ends up getting hurt and a ambulance is called and Jackson goes with her to the hospital ,but Alice goes into a coma. After of that happen that night they disappeared from Claire's life. Claire has moved on with her life for 10 years and she becomes a neurosurgeon .But then one day she receives a call that Alive has awakened and wants to see you. Will Claire go to her or will she stay away ? Or will the guilt of what happened that night to Alice years ago prevent her from going. I could tell you more about this touching story, but that would spoil it for you. I highly recommend that you read this story ,you won't be disappointed.

This is a very short read about a love triangle between three childhood friends who fell apart after two of them had sex and the other one saw it, freaked out, ran away, tripped, and fell in a coma (yes... A coma from tripping. Would've been a bit morebelievable if she'd got in a car accident or something. But I guess it can happen.)
After the third wheel, Alice, wakes up, the boy starts relentlessly chasing the protagonist.
During all this time, the protagonist is convinced that both of her friends will hate her once they find out her Deep Dark Secret, which turns out not to be anything surprising or actually bad in any way.
Meanwhile, the protagonist loves (platonically) her boss, who is a sexist dickwad, but not to the protagonist, because she's smart unlike all the girls whose hearts he breaks. Stupid girls. They should know better than to expect to be treated like human beings instead of disposable sex toys.
im not a fan of cheesy romance novels that present misogynist dickheads as sympathetic characters but if you are i suppose you'll like this.

This was a pretty good start to what looks like an intriguing series. It may come off as a love triangle, but that's not what goes on here. Claire, Jackson, and Alice are friends and both Claire and Alice have feelings for Jackson, albeit I would consider Claire's feelings far deeper than Alice's. I think it's also clear who between the two Jackson loves as a friend and sister and who he loves in a romantic sense. The secret that Claire is keeping is pretty easy to figure out, but I'm curious to see how everything does play out and where things will lead her and Jackson in the second book. This isn't an overly long read and my attention never wavered. Mari Denae's writing is easy and engaging, giving us a story that catches our interest so that we can't help but want to know what happens next in the series and characters that you find yourself caring about to some degree. I found this to be an over all interesting read. This is a quick read, or at least it was for me. I did enjoy the characters. I cant imagine what Alice would have to go through. 10 years is a long time to remain comatose.
I did find the "reconnection" between Jackson and Claire to be rather rushed, considering there was NO contact for 10 years. No calls, no letters, nothing. That is what took away the 1/2 star for me. I cannot imagine even with a connection leaping back into that.
