I wanted to sing his song. Instead, he helped me hear mine.
After three long years, Sebastian Draper has finally returned to Seastone for his family’s annual reunion. Given his unannounced return, he expected some tension, but he definitely didn’t expect to find someone else living in his childhood home: Alex, a young, charismatic musician who’s working as the Drapers’ housekeeper until he gets back on his feet.
While the tension between Sebastian and his family flares up right from the start, a different kind of heat begins to simmer between him and Alex. They connect over their shared passion for music and quickly find themselves sneaking away from the festivities together. But the night they share ends far too quickly, and they must part ways again… or do they?
The Symphonies That You Are is a sweet & spicy, gay romance that follows musical talents, Alex and Sebastian. Expect lots of music, a leap for love, family drama in a small town, and a hard-won happy ever after. This standalone is book three of Seastone Seasons.
Flynn Woods is a US-based writer of steamy, gay, new adult romance. The books focus on personal fantasies about strong men who know what they want and do everything to get it. If Flynn isn't working on the next story, he likes reading, cooking, and hiking with his husband.
I love returning to Seastone! These books are just so good. The Symphonies That You Are was a quick, but entertaining story. Both Sebastian and Alex have their own problems, but together they were able to make a beautiful melody.
The relationship between Sebastian and Alex was sweet and incredibly spicy. And despite the spice level being dialed up a notch from the first couple of books, there was a tenderness to this story that I really enjoyed.
I also enjoyed getting to see the other couples from the first two books in the series!
Returning to Seastone, which is still my favorite fictional town, felt like coming home or a place that feels like a home away from home. This cozy mountainside setting continues to be the perfect backdrop for stories where small-town and big-city lives collide in the best ways.
This installment follows Sebastian, who returns home for a family reunion where he unexpectedly meets a man named, Alex, who is now living in his old room. What starts as tension quickly shifts into a connection built on their shared love of music, leading to a romance that feels both immediate and meaningful.
One of my favorite elements was how music shaped their relationship. It felt vivid and emotional, even without being able to actually hear what they created. I found myself wishing their songs were real. Can we get an album, please?!
The character growth stood out just as much as the romance. Sebastian’s relationship with his dad added a lot of emotional depth, and I appreciated the honesty in Alex’s storyline with his mom. Not everything is neatly resolved, which made it feel more realistic.
The romance itself strikes the perfect balance between spice and heartfelt connection. It is tender, emotional, and layered with real challenges as they navigate long distance, family expectations, and their individual paths.
It was also great to see familiar characters make appearances while being introduced to new ones I would love to read more about.
Overall, this is a heartfelt and engaging story filled with vulnerability, growth, and just the right amount of romance and heat. If you love small-town settings, music-driven stories, and relationships that feel real, this is one to pick up!.

The Symphonies That You Are By Flynn Woods ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
I received an E-book ARC edition of this novel from the author himself through Booksprout in exchange for an honest review. It is Available NOW on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited. www.amazon.com/B0FL2Q8LD4
This is a 311-page Medium Paced, Found Family x2 with Family Drama, Instant Connection Full of Music, Small-Town MM Romance. This is the third book in the Seastone Seasons Series. This is the first full novel in the series as the first two additions were novella length.
Written in alternating chapters dual first person POV, this novel takes place in the small town of Seastone sometime after the first two stories, Fall & Winter. You are dropped right into the middle of a family reunion where you, as the reader, will think you are about to be bombarded with a slew of characters to get to know. It’s great imagery by the author as one of our MCs, Alex, is along the ride with you. As he navigates the reunion, working it and taking part in it, you learn about who he is and why he is in Seastone. When Sebastian, the long-lost son of the family, arrives without warning, the harmony in the air with the family turns sharp and flat all at once, also knocking Alex off beat as well.
The two meet and learn they have something in common, MUSIC. Alex writes music to help navigate life. It is his only saving grace to be able to handle all the sounds he constantly hears all the time. Sebastian sings, but his dream died along time ago and now he is just coasting through life, lost in a jumble of falling musical notes that have no meaning. When the two get together, they make magic.
This is such a sweet story. I am not going to lie, I was worried about the what the author, Flynn Woods, had up his sleeve with a full size novel in a series that seemed to originally only be novellas, but the worry was squashed fast when the instant connection of our MCs was established, and the journey through their album started. It was a MC central plot, the focus mainly on them, and how music brings them together and connects them in a way that seems unbreakable. Family is a big aspect for their character progression, showing that all families are different. Love is a constant pedal point, a continuous harmonic foundation, but it is how individuals show and receive that love and making sure you are hearing it correctly in between the lines of the lyrics.
It is technically a college romance set in a small-town that sings with the sweetness and innocence of a high school romance. How these two care for each other and protect one another is adorable. Alex suffers from overly sensitive hearing, which impacts his life, but Sebastian is there to elevate the vibrations in life. The same back to Sebastian, but Alex is there to help with his family, and to make sure Seb’s lifelong dream comes true.
You will be surprised with the Spice! And you don’t have to wait long for it either. Every scene caught me off guard to be honest. Both Alex and Seb’s personalities don’t clearly line up with their sexual sides. It’s like what Seb says in the novel, “My speaking voice isn’t the same as my singing voice.” THAT IS THIS!!!! Their regular personalities are not their sexual personalities. Except for Alex’s kink, LOL, I think that is a constant all the time. Ywkwyk -wink-
The ensemble was Sebastian’s family and the guys from the first two novellas. I have to give props to the author for writing such a real family, with real problems. I don’t think Flynn Woods could have gotten it any more authentic as this. They were all written well and meshed together like I feel any functionally dysfunctional family would, but with love. I thought the family reunion tradition was an awesome detail and if I had a big family that had reunions, I would do this activity in a heartbeat. The boys from the first two novellas do have a good chunk of content and not just drive-by cameos, which was really nice and fun! We got updates on how both couples are doing, including the remodel of the hotel from the Fall novella with Jason & Nicholas. I am excited to see what comes next for everyone in the next addition to the series.
This was a great standalone story, even with the inclusion of the two previous couples. It is sweet like a spring honeysuckle. Even though it was a full novel, it read quickly and grabbed your attention with the passion our MCs carry for each other and the music they create together. Two things that stood out to me other than what I already covered above: without meaning to (my assumption), parts of the book, paragraphs, were ironically written in rhyme like the novel itself was a song. I kept seeing it throughout the novel. The other was how the author included the fragility of creating. Art can be broken easily, and unintentionally. It should be protected until the right time, because once it’s broken, it’s so hard to put back together again. And that goes for all art forms: Music, writing, acting, dance, painting, illustration, etc. I love how Flynn Woods included this point, to quietly make a statement to those that ‘enjoy’ someone’s work early but doesn’t safeguard it like they should. It ends up harming the artist just as much, as the art itself is an extension from the artist. It’s a lesson all should understand.
A young man besieged by sounds we don't hear finds refuge and love
Alex has been compelled to leave his residence and seeks refuge in Seastone, where he is employed by a family with a farm, assisting with animal care and household duties. They warmly welcome him, providing a room that previously belonged to their son, who, after years of absence, returns for a family reunion designed to remember and honor their loved ones.
Sebastian returns to that household to discover Alex residing in his former room and leading a valued life after fleeing from his family. Alex possesses a heightened auditory sensitivity, which at times overwhelms him, necessitating the use of earplugs or retreat from distressing auditory stimuli. The Draper family welcomes him, and on the eve of a family reunion, Sebastian's return reveals shared affinities with Alex, notably their mutual love of music.
Both Alex and Sebastian perceive music differently, and it becomes their primary means of expressing love. Alex is captivated by Sebastian's voice; while conversing, he composes music that complements the richness of that voice. This begins with one song and evolves into others, as the two young men develop a romantic connection through their shared passion.
Music serves as their language of love. To mitigate the confusion and headaches caused by uncomfortable environments, Alex wears earplugs. To him, each individual he encounters possesses a unique sound, song, or symphony associated with their persona. Flynn Woods further explores this idea by assigning chapter titles that not only reflect the content but also serve as musical motifs linked to the chapter's subject.
Sebastian, pursuing a degree in hospitality in Las Vegas, remains physically distant from Seastone; however, the two maintain a telephonic relationship that fosters their musical collaboration. Sebastian's family remains a source of tension due to his father's disapproval of certain choices, including a previous problematic musical endeavor.
Nevertheless, their musical connection continues to deepen, culminating in the creation of an album that they debut at a concert in Las Vegas, earning praise and support.
The narrative is emotionally charged: Alex experiences sorrow over his disconnection from family, while Sebastian, who prefers to go by his middle name rather than his given name—favoring his father's dislike—finds himself at the center of intense exchanges, particularly regarding his musical past. Sebastian eventually accepts his father's objections, likely influenced by his mother, who advocates for reconciliation and warmly welcomes Sebastian home. This dynamic is volatile, tumultuous, and sincere, reflecting her genuine concern for her son's future. Sebastian's mother, seeking redemption for her husband and her son, perceives her husband's influence in Sebastian.
This is a heartfelt and compelling story that explores vulnerability, romance—with some passionate moments—and showcases Flynn Woods' musical expertise and rich depiction of Seastone as the setting for the love blossoming between these two young men.
Alex, with his creative and talented mind, perceives musical notes others do not, aligning them to Sebastian's voice as they gradually fall in love.
There are some great connections to the first two books in this Seastone series, and hints of the fourth book are also included. Flynn Woods writes books with spice generated from passionate appreciation between the characters. It is vivid, deep in involving us as the fourth wall, and enchanting to see happiness in the circumstances of two men.
Alex has spent his life struggling, his ears are overly-sensitive and he picks up on sounds everywhere. He finds solace in music.
Sebastian wanted to find success as a musician but he was the one to tell the record company 'no' now his father considers him a lost cause.
When Sebastian returns home for the first time in a few years, for the family reunion, he discovers that his old room is now Alex's room and that Alex has been taken in, given a room, by his parents. He also discovers, they both do, a connection like nothing either have ever known. Theirs is more than the connection of two people who meet and enjoy one another's company, feel an attraction. It goes far deeper, into their souls, where the music that they both live for resides. That is their deep-rooted connection, one that should be unbreakable, a bond that goes beyond anything most could imagine.
That is what Flynn Woods encourages us to see in his characters, two men who consider themselves flawed for different reasons, who don't see any flaws in the other and find a connection like no other. They both live and breathe their music, when they agree to try making some together the results are astounding. I wouldn't be surprised to know the magic of the universe had a say in this story. There is something mystical and yet grounded about it. The music, the way it guides both Alex and Sebastian, the way it talks to them and brings them together... This book is so much more than a romance, though it is that too, it is something that's almost impossible to out into words and its quite simply breathtaking.

Relatively new to Seastone, Alex is working and living with the Draper family after his own family kicked him out. Alex’s hearing is extremely sensitive, to the point that being in any group of people will give him a terrible headache after awhile. Music is the only thing that helps his brain find focus to let go of all the other sounds.
Sebastian Draper is a college student far away, and arrives for the annual Draper family reunion to discover that his old bedroom is now occupied by Alex. And that Alex is also very much into music, as Sebastian was before his dreams of a musical career were crushed. They start getting to know one another during an intriguing candle ritual at the reunion.
While Sebastian is in conflict with his family – especially his father, who insists on calling Sebastian “Devin,” the first name that he hates – he’s drawn to Alex. They end up in a “just one bed” situation that sets them up for a slower burn long distance romance. Over time Alex and Sebastian work on music, dreaming of a future together.
One need not have read previous books in the series to enjoy this one, but main characters from those do appear. The hot tub party reveals some of the previous antics – and indicates that Alex and Sebastian have a kind of found family to support them in the small town of Seastone. I’ve enjoyed each book in this series, each with unique couples and situations, and look forward to the next!.

This instalment in the Seastone series delivers a heartfelt mix of music, romance, and personal growth, with a strong emotional core that’s easy to connect with. The story opens with a slightly awkward but engaging premise—Sebastian returning home to find Alex in his space—but it quickly shifts into something much warmer as their shared love of music brings them together.
Alex stands out as a particularly compelling character. His heightened sensitivity to sound adds an interesting layer to the story, and the way music becomes both his refuge and his way of connecting with others feels thoughtfully handled. Sebastian, meanwhile, carries his own baggage, especially when it comes to family expectations and the loss of his creative confidence. Watching him rediscover that part of himself alongside Alex is one of the more satisfying elements of the book.
Their relationship develops at a gentle pace, balancing instant chemistry with the reality of distance and uncertainty. The “just one bed” moment is a highlight, but it’s the quieter scenes, writing, playing, and simply understanding one another that give their connection real depth. The small-town setting and recurring characters add a sense of warmth and community without overwhelming the central romance.
Overall, it’s an emotional, music-filled romance that blends sweetness with a bit of heat, and offers a rewarding journey towards a well-earned happy ending.

This is a strangers to more romance, featuring Alex and Sebastian, and is book three in the Seastone Seasons series.
Sebastian returns home after three years and is shocked to find Alex living in his childhood home as the housekeeper. As sparks fly between them and they bond over music, one unforgettable night leaves them wondering if their connection is meant to be.
I absolutely loved this one. It was sweet and emotional story focused on coming home and finding love when you least expect it. Sebastian and Alex have great chemistry, and their shared love of music makes their connection feel genuine and heartfelt.
Things to expect in this book are: Book 3 in series MM romance Small town Strangers to more Drawn to eachother Singer x songwriter Home coming Forced proximity Family tension Closeted MC Spicy times Facials & cum okay Secret relationship Coming out Found family HEA
Music feeds the soul and this book is full of music. Full of the magical almost whimsical element of it. Domestic tell anyone but I got goosebumps or frisson near the end of it. Almost as if I could feel the music from the page. Haven’t had that one before. Sebastian and Alex story flows like a good melody.
This whole series is amazing. It’s interconnected but not full of the same. Flirty and fun but with emotional depth and full characters.
The first had a thriller vibe, the second a cozy forced proximity and this one almost fantastical. Can’t wait for the four one.
I actually wanted to wait for this series to be done with to read it and then I forgot that there are four seasons to a year. Ah well more time for Vorfreude and anticipation.
Returning to Seastone for an annual family reunion, having been away for three years, Sebastian Draper is surprised to find someone named Alex living in his room. Both of them love music, so they quickly connect. Alex is a musician currently working as the family housekeeper. He has an unusual affinity for sounds, and a romance develops. I enjoyed their unique story. Alex, with his creative mind, can hear musical notes in ways others do not, so he can connect them with the sound of Sebastian's voice specifically and create a unique sound that works for him. Will the two of them find a future together?
'The Symphonies That You Are” is a sweet & spicy gay romance that follows musical talents, Alex and Sebastian. Expect lots of music, a leap for love, family drama in a small town, and a hard-won happy ever after. This standalone is book three of Seastone Seasons.'
The characters drove the storyline and they were so very appealing and likeable and absolutely perfect together. Plot was intriguing and well paced. World building was solidly drawn and impressive. Another great addition to the series. Enjoyed immensely and highly recommend.

4.25 stars. Two appealing characters find a very fast yet deep connection through music. Alex has such acute hearing that music is a necessary coping mechanism. Sebastian has been burnt by his recent music experiences and is determined not to sing again - but what he is building with Alex needs his voice. Both struggle with family in very different ways, and again, music plays a crucial role as their escape and support. Thanks for the advance copy via Booksprout, I am happy to leave a voluntary review.
Thank you for the audiobook; here is my honest opinion Rounding up as I really enjoyed the setting m it wonderfully vivid and felt like an authentic town. I liked the characters, Alex and Sebastian are lovely and easy to root for, so I was happy they got their happy ending. The music stuff, if it works for you, I think will be a highlight, for me, it was kind of a miss. I just didn’t connect with music like these two did, but I liked the characters.
The Symphonies That You Are is the third book in the Seastone Seasons and can be read as a standalone. I didn't enjoy this one as much as the other two books in the series but it was still okay, just not something I would read again. I will still be on the lookout for any more in the series though.
Alex and Sebastian were sweet, but the book wasn't quite for me. I didn't love the music aspect like I thought I would, but that doesn't mean it won't appeal to someone else.
