Sweet Tea and a Southern Gentleman #8

The Silver Lake Hotel: A Sweet, Small Town Southern Romance

Rate this book
If she only knew how empty my life had been before I met her, then she would understand why she’s the one person I can’t ever let go of.

Sabrina
I may have made a mistake.

I didn’t think this all the way through. Apparently I thought blowing up my life in Harmony and leaving town with Liam was going to solve my problems, but from where I’m now standing, that decision just created new ones.

Not only am I a single mom, trying to fulfill her new role as an assistant to a rockstar, but I have been thrown into a world that I know nothing about. Liam’s life is after parties and gorgeous women, while my life is poopy diapers and late night feedings.

For some reason, I thought I could handle being a working mom, until it becomes very evident that I cannot. Everyone can see how much I’m floundering, so why isn’t Liam firing me? Why isn’t he marching me out of his life and back to the small town where I belong?

I’m so obviously out of my depth, but Liam doesn’t seem to care.

The lines between boss and assistant blurs until suddenly I’m falling for him and all I want is for us to be a family.

Too bad he already has a daughter. Too bad, his ex seems to have the same idea.

Emery
Just my luck, as soon as I discover a note from Carson stating that he wants me to find love again should anything happen to him, the board calls me into a meeting. Apparently, there’s some decades old requirement for the CEO of Torres Investments to be married and they have no choice, but to enact it.

I may be able to broker billion dollar mergers, but flirting and dating paralyzes me.

Frustrated, Noah, Timothy, and I fly to Harmony so I can clear my head. And it works, until Abigail starts asking questions about Noah.

Who is he? Why is he here? And the worst question imaginable? Why not date him?

Now I’m so confused that I can’t think straight. All I want to do is crawl into a hole and hide, but I’m no quitter. I’m determined to protect everything Carson had spent his life working for. I’m determined to honor his memory.

This story is told through 3 different points of view. Sabrina, Liam and Emery. It's a story of romance and friendship. If you liked the Netflix show, Sweet Magnolias, you'll love this series!

The Silver Lake Hotel is a story of romance, second chances and self discovery. It is book eight in The Sweet Tea and a Southern Gentleman series and ends in a cliff hanger.

I loved this book! I loved seeing just how far Sabrina has come. She was overcoming her PPD and was thriving! And Liam is such an amazing guy to want to be there for his daughter and still help Sabrina with her son 🫠🫠

This book was exactly what I wanted! I also loved Emery was trying to work past her husband Carsons death while still trying to be a mom and becoming a CEO. I can’t wait to see what comes next for her and Noah!! 😍😍

I received an advanced reader copy of this book. This series is one of my favorites. The interwoven story lines throughout the series keep you hooked. Sabrina and Liam's story is perfect. There's just enough mystery to the plot to keep you guessing.

I really like the story of the book, the characters, the background, how each book has 2 "couples" and we all of their POVs, buuuuuuuut the amount of detail is so annoying. I don't need to know that you picked yiur floral dress up in the bathroom, carried it to the bedroom, and putting your floral dress into you bag.... And these people wink A LOT!

I'll keep reading though, I need to know if Emry and Noah end up together!

It's no secret that I have been hooked on this series since book one. Now eight books in, and I'm still just as invested. For anyone new to the series though, just keep in mind that this is NOT your typical romance series where you can pick it up in the middle. Each book actually features two couples... one whose story was started in the previous book whom we will see get their happily ever after (Sabrina and Liam) and another who is just being introduced, whose story will continue onto the next book (Emery and Noah), so you definitely want to start from the beginning to get the full story. If you're someone who won't be satisfied without an immediate HEA, you might want to wait for the series to be complete. Trust me though, if you love small town drama, this series is absolutely a must read! In The Silver Lake Hotel, we pick up with Sabrina and Liam right where Honey Bee Library left off. And oh my goodness, I love these two. We met Sabrina earlier on in the series and seeing how far she's come with her struggles with postpartum depression and watching her become more independent... there's something really beautiful about that. And then there's Liam. A rockstar who is great with babies? I mean, really, what more do I even need to say? Their story was so sweet and healing but also had a touch of danger mixed in for some added drama and I absolutely couldn't get enough of them. And that SWEET bonus scene? My goodness! I don't always read bonus scenes, but I would definitely recommend this one, it only made me love Liam even more! The introduction to Emery and Noah has me fully invested in their story and anxiously awaiting the next book to see how it's all going to play out. I absolutely cannot wait.

The Silver Lake Hotel is a closed-door romance with kisses only and some language. Please note, while the book stays firmly kisses only, there is also an optional open-door bonus scene readers can choose to download in addition to the sweet bonus scene, if desired. This is the eighth book in the Sweet Tea and Southern Gentleman series and is best read in order.

**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.

The Silver Lake Hotel by Anne-Marie Meyer is a heartfelt, small-town story about second chances, personal growth, and finding love in the middle of life’s messiest seasons.

What stood out to me most was the multi-POV structure. Following Sabrina, Liam, and Emery gave the story a layered, emotional depth that made each journey feel real and relatable in its own way.

Sabrina’s storyline especially pulled at my heart — trying to balance motherhood while feeling completely out of her depth felt honest and vulnerable. Liam’s life, while seemingly glamorous, carried a quiet emptiness that added contrast, and Emery’s journey of navigating responsibility, grief, and the possibility of love again brought a more introspective, emotional layer to the story.

I loved the small-town setting and the strong sense of community and friendship woven throughout. It has that comforting, found-family feeling that makes stories like this so easy to settle into.

If you enjoy gentle, emotionally driven romance with multiple perspectives and interconnected lives, this is a beautiful addition to the series.

⚠️ Note: This book ends on a cliffhanger.

The Silver Lake Hotel by Anne-Marie Meyer was a sweet, easy-to-read small-town romance with plenty of heart. The cozy setting and close-knit community gave the story a comforting feel, and I enjoyed watching the characters reconnect as they worked through their past and discovered there might still be a future together.

The romance was charming, with good chemistry and several heartfelt moments that kept me invested. I also appreciated the themes of second chances, forgiveness, and finding your place after life doesn’t go according to plan.

That said, I never felt completely swept away by the story. The pacing was a little uneven at times, and I found myself wanting more emotional depth and character development to fully connect with the main couple. Some conflicts wrapped up a bit too quickly, leaving me wishing for a little more tension and payoff.

Overall, The Silver Lake Hotel was an enjoyable, feel-good romance that’s perfect if you’re looking for a light, comforting read with small-town charm. While it didn’t become a new favorite, I’m glad I picked it up and would happily read more from Anne-Marie Meyer.

I absolutely adore rock star romances. Add in both a single father AND a single mother with close proximity? All the yes!

I felt so bad for Liam. He is discontent with his life as a rock star and doesn't see his daughter very much, thanks to her mother. When he encounters sweet librarian Sabrina, he instantly knows she is different from the other women he surrounds himself with.

Liam really comes into his own when helping Sabrina with "little man" (her son Samuel). He feels happy for the first time in a long time. But things are rarely as easy as that in a romance book. :)

There is also a subplot for Emery and I can't wait to see what happens with her story!

This series just keeps getting better and better. I loved this book! Sabrina and Liam are so fun together. They have a slow burn romance that's totally worth the wait! And little Samuel is absolutely adorable. The way Liam treats him is heartwarming! Plus it was nice seeing Emery again and meeting Noah. I can't wait to see what happens with them in the next book. If you like small town sweet romance, this book is for you. I definitely recommend it and the entire Sweet Tea series!

Sabrina and Liam.
Again love the overlap of each romance to flow to the next book. I did find this one to be a little far fetched with the love story and probably could of been a little more fleshed out like Liam’s relationship with his friend Sawyer, the Drifter identity and why Liam didn’t have a relationship with his daughter. Probably too many little storyline’s that weren’t able to be elaborated on in the length of the book.
Low key found Sabrina to be unlikeable as well

💛 The Silver Lake Hotel 🎸
Book 8 of the Sweet Tea & a Southern Gentleman Series
Written By: Anne-Marie Meyer

Overall: 3.5/5
Overall plot: 3.5/5
Character development: 3/5
Pace: 4/5
World building: 4/5
Spice 🌶️: 0/5

Longtime Anne-Marie Meyer reader, first time ARC reader—and I’m so excited I finally got to experience one early 💛

This story blends small town roots with a rockstar lifestyle as Sabrina leaves Harmony behind, stepping into a completely unfamiliar world as a single mom working for Liam. What starts as a fresh start quickly turns complicated as lines blur and feelings grow.

I really enjoyed Sabrina’s journey. Watching her navigate motherhood while trying to prove she can stand on her own felt grounded, and her relationship with her son was such a sweet highlight. Liam stepping up with Samuel? Absolutely adorable—and it made sense given his own experience as a dad.

That said, I do wish this was longer. The relationship between Liam and Sabrina leaned more into insta-lust than I would’ve liked, and I wanted more time to see their connection grow and deepen.

I was also really intrigued by Emery and Noah’s storyline. There’s so much potential there, especially with Noah’s quiet, mysterious presence—but I wanted more. His character felt just out of reach in a way that made me curious but slightly unsatisfied.

Overall, a quick, engaging read with heart—but one that left me wishing for more depth and time with these characters.

This is such a sweet addition to the Sweet Tea and a Southern Gentleman series. I just write this review before I jump in to the next book!

Sabrina is struggling as a new single mom. Her sister is overbearing and pushing her to he limits. She takes a chance to go work as an asisant to Liam. Little does she know, he is the front man for a famous rock band! She starts to fall asleep she watches him lovingly take care of her son. He tried to use his feelings even though he feels more alive than he has in years. When is past comes back to haunt him, what will he do? Will he push away the one who restores life in him? Will be fine a way to overcome past mistakes? Will Sabrina learn to love again? Will she trust what she feels for Liam?

Emery, which mourning the loss of her husband, is found in a tough situation. She must marry or she will lose her job. The company has forced her to have a bodyguard, who happens to be her late husband's best friend. She tries to put herself out there while Noah sits back and watches and waits. Are they willing to admit there feelings to each other! Will Emery find a way to meet the Boards demands or lose all she has worked for?

I can't wait to start the next book to get glimpses of these two and their happily ever after.

ARC REVIEW

Once again Meyer did not disappoint.
It was great to finally get Sabrina's story, and see the mother that she's become and the healing that she's accomplished. Like most mothers, she struggles with the feeling of needing to handle everything.
The interactions with Liam and Sabrina's baby, Samuel aka "Little Man", be still my heart! Liam is so lost in life not being able to be the father he wants to be to, trying to do the right thing, and hiding so many parts of himself.
This book at so many swoons. So many endearing moments. Yet, like life, not everything is sunshine and rainbows. Both characters have things they need to overcome before they can find their way to each other.
We also get reintroduced to Emery, the wife of Bash's late brother. She's got her own challenges that she's having to face as a widow, single mother, and CEO of a large company. Then there's Noah, her husband's best friend, who has been hired to be her bodyguard
The Sweet Bonus scene made me cry, it was wonderful! So happy for Liam and Sabrina
this story shows how healing it can be to find your person..

Silver Lake Hotel by Anne-Marie Meyer is a beautifully layered romance that blends emotional depth with high-stakes drama. Sabrina’s journey as a single mother recovering from postpartum depression felt raw and real, making it easy to root for her happiness.
Liam, the hidden rockstar with a complicated past, brings both excitement and heartbreak to the story. Their relationship develops naturally, but the tension surrounding his secret life and the looming danger of blackmail keeps you fully invested. His decision to push Sabrina away for her safety was painful but understandable, and it made their reunion that much more meaningful.
The legal and emotional resolution with his ex added a satisfying layer of closure, especially seeing him step into his role as a father.
The secondary storyline featuring Emery and Noah was equally intriguing. Emery’s struggle with grief and the pressure to remarry for her career created a unique and emotional subplot, and Noah’s steady presence made their slow-building connection feel authentic.
Overall, this book delivers romance, suspense, and emotional growth in a way that keeps you hooked from beginning to end.

At first I had a hard time getting into this book, but time I got to chapter 4 or 5 I was hooked and couldn't put it down. This book was Sabrina's book, I liked getting to know her better and watch how her relationship with Liam progressed. There were some bumps along the way, but you couldn't help but root for them to find their HEA. Sabrina navigated being a single mom and an assistant to a rock star quite well. She thought she didn't need help but in reality being a single mom is hard and a little help is welcomed, which she started to accept. I like that we got revisit with Abigail and Bash from a previous book. I recommend this series if you're looking for a small town romance feel with good clean fun, but start from book one, since some the characters from earlier books are intervened thought out the series. I look forward to the next book in the series and hope we get to see more on Emery and Noah.

I’d give The Silver Lake Hotel a solid 3 stars. Like most of Anne-Marie Meyer’s books, it follows a familiar romance formula—but I did appreciate the added element of suspense in this one. I only wish that aspect had been developed a bit further, because it had the potential to really elevate the story.

That said, the storyline kept me engaged, and I found myself increasingly invested as I got further in. As usual, I wasn’t quite ready for it to end when it did. I always want more time with these couples instead of moving on so quickly to the next story, even though I understand that’s part of her overall format.

One ongoing frustration for me is the repeated use of the same phrases—particularly “my entire body…” followed by “froze,” “went numb,” “heated,” “went cold,” etc. It starts to feel repetitive and distracting after a while.

Overall, an enjoyable and engaging read, but not my favorite of hers.

Anne Marie Meyer doesn't disappoint! Another rollercoaster of emotions and trying really hard to not yell "Just say how you're actually feeling!" at the book.
Being able to understand what Sabrina has gone through and doing everything she can to prove she can succeed as a single mom, I felt everything that she was going through. Liam's capacity to love and adore Sabrina and Samual warmed my heart, even when you wanted him to just smarten up. Thank goodness Sawyer came to him at his lowest allowing Liam to finally share everything he is going through so he get help.
I am so excited for Emery's story and watching her's and Noah's relationship grow.

I was able to be a arc reader for this book! Absolutely love, the sweet tea and southern gentlemen series. Really interesting to read two plots at the same time as she introduces new characters new storylines there are always twists that you never see coming.

Absolutely loved to hear Sabrina‘s happy ending! love the Liam character. He is everything that we want in a rockstar. He also is so sweet to her little one! He adores her which she deserves her happy ending! Anne Marie also starts to introduce Emery and Noah, who I can already tell is going to have a fantastic story for the next book.

I absolutely love this series. I ordered the box set with the blanket months ago and have been hooked on her books since. I preordered this bundle as well and was so excited when I was picked as an ARC reader for this.
Please do not start with this book first. Start from book one and read the series. Yes, they can be standalone, but other characters are mentioned, and it just brings everything together if you read in order. This is a sweet romance book. No smut. But you will fall in love with each character and their story. Must read series

I was glad to get more of Sabrina’s story in this one. It also left me interested in Emery and I’m hoping we get more of her story in a future book.

Overall, this was a sweet, enjoyable read and a great addition to the series.
