This was such an amazing story!! Women in STEM and men who are completely obsessed with them is a trope I'll never get tired of. The banter and the tension was top tier, I ate it up!!

Quincy is a meteorologist with a PhD and a host of a popular online show about the weather. Sebastian is her best friend's brother, a famous TV weatherman, her bitter academic rival who loves to rail her up and he's back from New York for the summer, chasing storms with her and being annoying.. The more time they spend together, finding themselves in dangerous situations, talking about their favourite topic and playing games, they might discover there is a lot more than animosity between them.. 

Quincy was such a force, incredibly smart, caring and so damn good at her job. I absolutely loved her show, I wish it was real, I would watch it religiously. The way others underestimated her, just for being a woman in a male-dominated field, made my blood boil. She was the best there is and seeing Sebastian standing up for her, always cheering her on and making sure she knew her worth was such a special thing to witness. I also adored her ramblings and the way her brain worked. 
Sebastian was witty, sweet, so caring, chaotic and always trying to be cheerful even when he's struggling, but ready to go to war for his Quinny baby. The way he was was there for her and the fact he was attracted to her intelligence, was unmatched. He listened, protected her and instead of stopping her from doing something dangerous, he just joined her. I wish we got more of him though. 

Their story was full of so much bickering, it made me giddy. The teasing, the Truth or Dare, the Ferris wheel and Reginald, the broadcasts, Claudia and the Waffle House, the ketchups, the tornado, the game night, the show, the beach, Georgianna, the notes, the picnic, the support, the passion with which they talked about the weather and how aligned they were with each other.. Their story was so good, I couldn't stop reading it. Not only did I read it in one breath, but I stayed up until late to finish it. I couldn't get enough of them.

This is how you write women in STEM, she was an inspiration. As someone who always loved thunderstorms, wanted to know more about natural disasters and was obsessed with the movie Twister, this was a deeply enjoyable experience for me. The atmosphere, the descriptions and them being in the eye of the storm, it was simply amazing. 

I can't wait to get more stories, I want to know everything about Mia, Harlow, Nate and Cooper. Their friend group, their dynamic and that found family feeling was the best!!
I highly recommend this!!

⤿ in stormy weather follows Sebastian and Quincy, childhood rivals who coincidentally are in the same field, meterology. they reunite after a while and start competing again - but this time, who can get better footage of storms for their respected jobs. ⟡ i enjoyed this book so, so much 😩 a woman in STEM and a man that will bown down for her will ALWAYS get me.

the characters ꩜｡⋆.

⊹ Quincy monroe ᝰ⋆ she was my favorite part of the book - or more specifically, her brain and fierce personality. this might be the first time where i actually think a woman in STEM was written correctly and done justice. continuously throughout the book, she shocked me with how well she knew her job, how passionate she was about it, and how confidently she corrected the men in her field with her knowledge. i’m still in awe, i don’t even know how to put my thoughts into words because she was just amazing — i feel like i’ve learned so many things about the meterology field just from her/this book alone. bottom line: more “women in STEM” books should be written like THIS!!

⊹ Sebastian dunn ᝰ⋆ BRING BACK PATHETIC MEN!! 💫 i adored him so much; he was the sweetest and most considerate man. i loved how he defended her in front of powerful men in their field even if he had to sacrifice something himself — that made me melt. the way he made her feel worthy and performed so many acts of service had ME on my knees for him.

༄˖ the relationship. their dynamic was impeccable!! i loved how their personalities fit each other so well and despite them being in the same field, there was no animosity at all. quincy, as a woman in STEM, felt like she constantly had to prove the men in her field wrong — and to do this, she had to chase extremely dangerous storms, and instead of sebastian forcing her to stop, he ran along with her at every step and understood. Quincy and Sebastian are the couple you see at a family reunion and are instantly jealous of.

𖧷˖ ── overall, i had such a wonderful time with this. i binged this in less than 5 hours and i do not regret a single moment of it. seeing two people who so clearly love each other in every single circumstance the world can throw at them was deeply endearing and such a pleasure to read about. go pick this book up when it comes out on july 16th!!

I went into this with low expectations, and honestly, it worked 😂 I thought it'd disappoint me later, but fortunately, it didn't 🙂‍↕️ To my surprise, I ended up really liking it.

It felt so good to read about storm chasing and meteorology 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️ I think this is my first rom-com centered around those topics, and it impressed me so much 🥹 I'm definitely looking forward to reading more books like this 🙂‍↕️

My second Chelsea Curto book was another hit!!! 🙂‍↕️ I can't wait to continue the D.C. Stars series because I have a feeling this author might become one of my favorites... but we'll see 👀

Quincy 🥹🥹 I liked her character so much. She's strong, brave, and stubborn—but in the best way possible 😂 Sebastian completely stole my heart 🤭🥹 I had a feeling he'd impress me after reading his POV, and he absolutely did 🙂‍↕️ He really accepted the challenge 🤭🫶

The banter between them was so good 🤭🫶 It honestly felt so refreshing, and I enjoyed every second of it. It was definitely one of my favorite parts of the book 🙂‍↕️

Overall, I had so much fun reading this. It also worked perfectly as a palate cleanser 🙂‍↕️ And tysm, CC, for reading this with me 🥹 I had such a great time with you 🫶

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎Having already read and loved the D.C Stars series by Chelsea Curto had me going into this book with high expectations. As expected, it did not dissapoint. The romance aspect and writing choices in Stormy Weather were definitely questionable at points in the story, but other than that I loved it! The representation of women in STEM, the immersive atmosphere brought by the weather’s descriptions, the delve into meteorology. Chelsea is an author I know I can always go to if I need to be inspired by a FMC

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎Now, I was confused by half of the weather terms used in this book, yet it was so interesting! The plot overall had me really intrigued and was one of my favorite things about this story. With the illuminating descriptions, the weather phenomenons in action were illustrated really well and it was so entertaining to see the main characters chasing different storms. For me, this type of storyline is different from what I usually read, so I found it truly unique.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ My one issue with the plot is there wasn’t much rivalry happening? I mean, I didn’t mind personally, this book is just advertised as the main characters being rivals. There was only one scene where Sebastian and Quincy really competed against each other, the rest of said rivalry was only seen through brief recollections of the past from the characters. Other than that though, I was completely entranced by Stormy Weather’s storyline. It was exciting to see the different severities of each storm the main characters chased and how they were interpreted with different meanings.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎For the romance between Quincy and Sebastian, it was almost as good as the plot, but they were definitely missing something. They had such a cute dynamic and, albeit sometimes feeling inauthentic, they had tons of witty banter. I also have to appreciate the minimal amount of lust in this book. Based on the other books I’ve read from Chelsea, I was expecting loads of it, but the fact Sebastian was worshipping Quincy’s brain more than he did her body? I loved it.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎I think my problem was that Quincy and Sebastian hooked up a tad too early. The build up to their first kiss was anti-climatic and it took me a while until I could feel the chemistry between them. At times their dialogue felt too formal and therefore it was hard to feel an emotional connection between the two. However, when I had finally sensed the chemistry between the two in later chapters, it was immensely enthralling. I did individually enjoy both Quincy and Sebastian from the very beginning, so it was easier for me to get through chapters even when the romance was lacking.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎As engrossing as the characters were, some of the writing choices were iffy. I’m well aware of the inequalities between men and women, but I don’t think picturing women as better than men and making majority of the men misogynic in this story was a great execution of representation for women in STEM. It just felt overly forced, alike to some of the dialogue in this book. The moments when the main characters shared something emotional with each other felt like they were shoved into the writing at random. Sebastian and Quincy had very intriguing personalities, I just wish we had seen more authentic, detailed growth and complexity. Again, I did like the descriptive aspects in this book and it didn’t feel extremely repetitive, so the writing wasn’t the worst! There were moments I found amusing and, like always, Chelsea Curto had written the friendships in this book really well! (I’m desperate for Mia and Cooper’s book)

౨ৎ Quincy Monroe.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎I absolutely adored Quincy! Her rambling about weather was really cute and I loved that she ran her own show. Speaking of said show, it was so entertaining! It added a lot to her character and it’s connection to the plot was fascinating. Quincy was confident while realistically still having her insecurities about not being worthy enough to be in the STEM industry due to being a woman. For me personally, I don’t know much about meteorologists, but the elements incorporated into this story about her work were delved into a lot and it made this book ten times more enjoyable. She was kind to everyone who deserved it yet put those who didn’t in their place.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎This girl was the epitome of oblivious which did get annoying near the end of the story when it was blatantly obvious Sebastian was obsessed with her. I also wasn’t a fan of some of the decisions she made and her depth wasn’t extraordinarily written, but other than that I did enjoy her character! Quincy was so caring and the way she saw the beauty in destruction was inspiring. She was memorable in a motivational way and I loved seeing her get the chance to shine in a career she loves.

౨ৎ Sebastian Dunn.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎This man did not get the depth he deserved. Sebastian certainly entertained me from the first chapters, his dialogue was amusing and the dynamic he had with his friends was cute. I know, I’m using the word cute a lot, my apologies. Anyways, the thing is his character felt like it was based around Quincy. His emotional depth got more so glossed over and we didn’t learn as much as I would’ve liked outside of his relationship with her. Like I said earlier, I wish we had actually seen the growth in his character rather than it just being outright told that he was no longer ‘miserable.’

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎I still liked his character, I was obsessed with his dedication on getting Quincy’s attention and his interest in weather was just as enjoyable as hers. I loved Sebastian’s willingness to stand up for Quincy against misogyny while still recognizing she could do it herself. Also, the yearning this man did? Stormy Weather is one of the first book of Chelsea’s I’ve read where it didn’t feel like the MMC was full of lust for the entire book. He was just as kind and caring as Quincy, caring enough to save literal ducks during an intense hurricane. I love myself any outgoing MMC and Sebastian fulfilled that role wondrously.

i think i now have a niche for weather romcoms, which never in a million years did i think would ever be my niche, and i am absolutely obsessed.

this was such an accessibly informational novel about weather in florida, and also full of delicious yearning on both the fmc’s and mmc’s parts!

very excited to not only read her backlist, but the two books that are inevitably going to follow after quincy’s and sebastian’s…🤩🥹💐

I mentioned this in my pre-read, but once upon a time I wanted to be a meteorologist and storm chaser (before I realized just how much math was involved 😅), so this book immediately drew me in. Add a romcom on top of that? Say less. In Stormy Weather is PERFECT for readers who love enemies to (friends?) to lovers, banter that will make you laugh out loud, and moments that will make your heart melt.

Quincy Monroe is our FMC and I absolutely LOVED her. She’s powerful, intelligent, funny, and so caring to the people she loves. She’s passionate about challenging gender norms in STEM (and in careers in general), and she does not hesitate to call out misogyny when she sees it. Watching her stand her ground, advocate for herself, and still allow herself to be vulnerable was so empowering.

And speaking of calling out misogyny… enter MR. SEBASTIAN FREAKING DUNN. New book boyfriend alert!!! 🚨 Sebastian is witty, hilarious, deeply caring, and completely obsessed with Quincy in the best way. Seeing all of their moments together was *chefs kiss* especially their banter 😂🥰

Learning why Sebastian got into weather, seeing his passion, and watching how hard he fights for Quincy (especially against the patriarchy) made me love him even more. We love a man who listens, supports, and shows up 👏💞

This book is full of adventure in the most romcom way possible. You’ll learn about tornadoes, hurricanes, storm chasing, and meteorology, but also about love, fear, friendship, and what it means to truly be seen by someone. There are some spicy chapters, but they’re easy to skim and you won’t miss anything essential to the story.

I am desperately hoping this becomes a series because I NEED more time with the side characters… Harlow, Nate, Mia, Cooper… I’m not done with them yet.

If you love STEM romcoms with heart, humor, passion, anti misogynistic vibes, and tension, this one belongs on your TBR immediately ☔️♥️

It's insane how obsessed I am with this book ✨🥹🌪️⛈️!!!! The way every single man that Chelsea Curto creates is such a green flag ‼️ which obviously includes Sebastian Dunn. A love story between storm-chasing meteorologists who navigate hurricane season together... I'm sorry, but if that doesn't hook you to read it, I hope this does: “Whatever happens, I got you, Quinny baby. Okay?” 😭🫠 aghhhhhhhh, the nickname and taking care of you microtrope combo ummm please, someone sedate me 🫣

I loved the characters so much!!! ❤️‍🔥 They are both hella smart due to their knowledge of storm chasing, and you can see that in the writing, which I think impressed me a lot. Not only that but they used their knowledge and created a rivalry banter that was so fun to watch and see it slowly develop to something romantic INSTANT SWOON CENTRAL for me lol. The incorporation of the terminology to make it as accurate as possible, which Chelsea did such a good job, helps the reader definitely imagine the hurricane/storm scenes more strongly and vividly. Basically imo hurricane scenes 10/10.

Quincy Monroe who is a baddie with a PhD that hosts a successful online weather show, you can see as a reader the ways she wants to finally be taken seriously in a male-dominated field. I love her personality: ambitious, a risk taker, and veryyy outspoken. Yes, I am talking about her "I know what I want from you" attitude 😮‍💨🔥 SCREAMS.

Sebastian Dunn, what a man what a man 😩💖 He is obsessed with her from the start, and every time he said "Quinny baby," I melted a little 🫠 The way he was with her throughout their time together during hurricane season legit should raise all standards for men!!! YES, I AM TALKING ABOUT THE KETCHUP PACKETS 😭😭😭

For me, it was a 5 star read ⭐ not only for all I said before, but also because of how accurate and insane the hurricane scenes felt. I am from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷, and I lived through a childhood filled with mild to dangerous hurricanes. The way they both experience the season hit a little close to home ❤️ for me.

It is a career for some, but people forget mother nature can be cruel in the most beautiful way.

The chasing of storms and each other, as well as the banter, also solidified this read for me. I definitely recommend it if you love anything I said previously and, as always, want a happily ever after 💕

P.S. I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE EASTER EGGS TO BE FULFILLED. YES, I AM LOOKING AT 👀🚒🔥

chelsea curto, you have done it again!! 😩🩵 in stormy weather was nothing but a fun ride filled with soooo many things to learn.

౨ৎ quincy. a woman in steeeeeem!!!!! we love to see it. i truly admire a passionate, career-driven woman, and quincy is exactly that. she’s out here breaking barriers in a male-dominated field and doing it with intelligence, confidence, and so much heart. you can feel how much she loves what she does, and that kind of dedication is so attractive to read about. she’s not shrinking herself for anyone, not dulling her shine to make others comfortable, and that alone made me root for her from the very beginning.

౨ৎ sebastian. i’m telling y’all, this man is exactly where he wants to be :pppp the way he supports her is chef’s kiss. what i love most is that when he defends her, it’s not because he thinks she needs saving. he knows she can handle herself. he steps in because he wants to, because he cares, because he respects her. and that difference? it matters. it never feels like he’s overpowering her strength—he’s just standing beside her, fully aware of who she is and what she’s capable of.

and seb paying attention to the smallest things??? she mentioned once—once—that she puts ketchup on some of her food, and this man brought extra ketchup packets just in case she wanted or needed them. i’m unwell. that’s the kind of detail that gets me every time. it’s not grand gestures—it’s remembering the tiny, almost forgettable things and acting on them.

also, can we talk about the random weather facts sprinkled throughout the book??? i loved that so much. i did not expect to walk away learning more about hurricanes, but here we are. the hurricane chasing aspect sounds absolutely insane in real life, but in this story, it made everything so much more intense and interesting. the stakes felt real, and the educational bits never felt forced—they just added depth to the world quincy lives and breathes every day.

the banter? living for it. their dynamic feels natural, playful, and charged in all the right ways. it balances the intensity of the hurricane chasing with light, swoony moments that make you smile like an idiot.

i won’t lie—it took me way too long to finish this book. life got in the way, and i wasn’t reading it as fast as i normally would. but that doesn’t take away from how good it is. because once you’re in it, you’re in it. it’s smart, engaging, and genuinely informative. there are so many facts woven into the story that you actually learn something while being entertained.

overall, this book is such a solid read, especially if you love strong women, supportive men, and a story that gives you both romance and knowledge. i can’t wait for more people to read this because it deserves the hype 🌪️💛

⋮ ✦┆ FIRST CHELSEA CURTO BOOK WAS A MAJOR SUCCESS!! i’m genuinely at a loss for words because i didn’t expect to love this as much as i did!

i feel like chelsea curto did a fantastic job at capturing such intense situations which allowed me feel the panic, the anxiety, and the relief alongside these characters. when an author really knows how to immerse their readers, i will always praise them and appreciate their work!

the characters in this book were so phenomenal. i absolutely loved the dynamic between all of them and the love and care they have for one another shows.

i loved everything about this book, so it’s safe to say that the hype was real 😝

in melanie’s words from love island, “i thrive to be as composed as you.” quincy commands so much power and knowledge—so reading about her just felt like i was watching history happen. she worked her ass off towards something she loves, and the passion she shows for meteorology is actually so inspiring.

⌞🌪️ ⌝ ⋮ ✦┆a man obsessed is a man i need. i didn’t know sebastian dunn was what i needed to read about at this time in my life 😭 he’s changed the game for me.

in all honestly, i didn’t expect to like him as much as i did, but seeing how supportive he was of quincy—it became blatantly clear that the way he views her was so far from rivalry. AND THE BEGGING?! haven’t read about a man like him in a very very long time. he was truly a breath of fresh air 🤭

I’d recently read a storm chasing book that was not that great so I was a bit hesitant with this one but I shouldn’t have been. This was such a fun time 💃💃

Quincy is such an entertaining, fierce fmc who doesn’t muck around. She doesn’t let others stop her from doing what she loves and has such a brave and kind personality. I knew I’d love her right from the start 🥹

Sebastian… he was everything I want in an mmc. Protective, loving, down bad 😏 I mean he’s been waiting for her for more than a decade😩 The ketchup, nicknames, the little notes… ugh he was just perfect and most of all he let Quincy shine✨

The chemistry and the banter were sooo good. I need moreee honestly. The epilogue was the perfect way to end such a perfect book🥹

Is this a sign to read Chelsea Curto’s other series?👀👀

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ the banter??? your honor, i would like to submit several highlighted pages, my entire kindle history, and my remaining dignity as evidence. quincy and sebastian spend half the book verbally sparring like it's foreplay and the other half pretending they're totally normal about each other, and IT WAS DELICIOUS. the unresolved sexual tension was so thick you could stir it with a rain gauge.

i was giggling. i was kicking my feet. i was looking up from my kindle every five minutes begging them to KISS. the dialogue was so quick and effortless that i lost entire hours of my life. every time i thought, "okay, one more chapter," chelsea curto would hit me with another exchange that had me smiling like an idiot.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ i adored quincy. women in stem who refuse to make themselves smaller will always have my whole feral heart. i loved how passionate she was about meteorology and science communication. you could genuinely feel how much she loved storms, forecasting, and protecting people through her work. it never felt like the career was simply there to move the romance along. it was part of who she was, literally baked into the fibers of her soul like humidity into georgia air.

i also appreciated how the book explored the reality of being a woman succeeding in a male-dominated field without letting that become her entire personality. she was ambitious, stubborn, funny, incredibly competent, and just messy enough to feel like a real one. a real one who would absolutely fight you in a parking lot over a radar reading and then look hot doing it.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ i owe this man an apology because i judged him almost as hard as quincy did. and then he had the AUDACITY to be funny. and thoughtful. and patient. and absolutely, disgustingly gone for this woman. the yearning in this man deserved its own noaa grant.

i love when the male love interest quietly falls first while acting like he's perfectly normal about it, all while being approximately one mildly affectionate interaction away from combusting. sebastian, you are stronger than me because i would've folded for the baddie that is quincy monroe around chapter three, tops. i would've been out here naming hurricanes after her.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ the chemistry absolutely carried the whole damn storm system. the rivals-to-lovers progression felt natural, the emotional payoff worked, and once these two stopped trying to professionally outdo each other every five minutes, they became such an easy couple to root for. i especially loved that neither of them had to give up their ambitions for the romance to work. zero "pick me or your dreams" nonsense.

give me two ambitious idiots who fall in love while tracking hurricanes over unnecessary third-act misunderstandings any day.

Quincy and Sebastian are rivals to lovers, and he is her best friend’s brother. if you love those tropes then this is the book for you!! they are both in the meteorology field and have been rivals since they were in school, always trying to one up each other. when Seb comes back to Florida during some work burnout, the two reconnect as they end up chasing storms together, getting footage for her show as well as his docuseries.

their banter was incredible! i loved how they constantly nagged each other- at first to annoy each other but soon it turned into playful teasing. they were obsessed with each other, but he fell first and hard. 🤩 the readers will absolutely fall in love with this couple! they do have a spicy relationship, but you can skim those chapters and not miss the plot of the story.

i know nothing about meteorology and storms, but when things got super technical in terms and explanation, you’re still able to easily follow along!! if you like the twisters movies, this book feels really similar to this as they chase storms and put themselves in harms way for not only the thrill but also to help educate their audience on how these storms form/work and how people can stay safe during them!

highly, highly recommend if this at all sounds interesting to you!! i was super lucky to get this arc and hope to get a physical copy when it is released on July 16!! 💙🌪️

3.5! This was cute and overall better than most storm chasing romances I’ve read this year but it was missing the spark I was looking for on the emotional side of things. I found the story have more tell vs show and their chemistry leaned less on connection and more on physical needs, which is fine I guess but this gives their romance a superficial feel and makes the story unmemorable.

I audiobooked 100% of this story and honesty I wasn’t a fan of the male narrator. This is a first for me as I usually love a very deep voice but something in his voice didn’t feel natural.

I wanted to love this book so much mainly because I love the concept of it. But I couldn’t find it in myself to care about what was happening. Personally I felt like this book was telling us was what happening instead of showing us it happening. Did I like the characters, yes I did. But I do not see them together. Personally in my opinion the chemistry between them was a bit forced which was very annoying. There was so much happening in the book with little to none depth.

Both Quincy and Sebastian were very annoying, especially Quincy trying to risk her life to prove that she belongs on the field and Sebastian being very confused in the end that he was actually in love with her whereas this was shown to us throughout the whole book. He literally would’ve done whatever she wanted without a word and now suddenly he’s confused??? What make it makes sense.

The whole confession to each other was very weird, like what do you mean they grind at each other during a live??? Like what.

The concept of this book is brilliant and the execution was even more impressive. Two Meteorologist that fall in love? Dare I say a perfect concept? But it was the execution of this concept that made me so obsessed with this book.

Our story follows Quincy Monroe, host of the popular social media show "The Rainy Day Show" and with a PhD in meteorology, and Sebastian Dunn, her best friend's brother and longtime academic rival. I love stories about women in STEM and the rivals that are obsessed with them. And when I say obsessed—I mean obsessed. Sebastian was so down bad for Quincy and I don't blame him one bit. She was everything. She was so smart and so feisty and beautiful. She's really everything that I aspire to be. Reading about her was a treat!

This was a dual perspective novel which is something I greatly appreciated. We got to see inside Quincy's genius brain and then we got to see inside Sebastian's, the one who been obsessed with it for years.

One great thing about his book is that it covers the academia side of meteorology and the insane storm chasing side of meteorology. I personally enjoyed the storm chasing side more because, truly, it was so invigorating to read about. The descriptions were so vivid, I was transported to Florida every time I opened this book.
This book was especially a treat for me because I live in Arizona, 🏜️ where it rains literally twice a year, so reading about this was definitely something new. It's not something I have ever experienced so a lot of the content of this book was really eye opening for me. My heart goes out to anyone who has experienced any sort of loss due to a natural disaster. I can't even imagine the devastation.
This honestly made me appreciate Quincy's mission to educate people on natural disasters all the more. Even though she is just a fictional character, she had an impact on me.

Almost everything about this book is perfection, I would just like to mention on nick-picky thing. Sebastian and Quincy were suppose to be these huge rivals but I just didn't really get that from their interactions in the beginning of the book. I wish we would have gotten some flashbacks to when they were in High School or College to really show that they were true rivals rather than relying on just telling us they were rivals.

Besides that, I honestly don't think I could have enjoyed this book more. The last 50 pages were wild! Everything came together so neatly and I was actually in tears in the epilogue. They were so sweet and I was so sad to finish the book and see them go. 🥹 I will definitely be purchasing this book when it comes out. I think that this is not a book you will want to miss and if you enjoyed her previous books you'll absolutely fall in love with Quincy and Sebastian. I certainly did.

Women in STEM is a trope I will ALWAYS root for 🙌🏽

Quincy is a woman-in-STEM, a meteorologist with a PhD, and host of a very successful online weather show, broadcasting on IG to one million followers. Weather is her love language and it brings her endless joy. She is a badass who has spent her career forging a path in a male-dominated field. A new and exciting job opportunity comes her way and nothing can stop her…except maybe her childhood rival who just so happens to be a famous TV weatherman, and her best friend’s brother- Sebastian Dunn. Back in town from NYC, he is ready for a summer of chasing storms and riling her up. Forced into close proximity and dangerous situations, when they’re forced to set aside their grudges to stay alive there may be something new brewing…

Quincy Monroe is exactly the kind of "women in STEM" representation we need! She was a force to be reckoned with, an absolute legend, and incredibly intelligent. But she was also a fantastic friend; caring, thoughtful, and encouraging. She was my favourite part of the book. Watching her ramble on about the weather was so inspiring and her joy was infectious. On that note, I was very impressed by the level of detail Curto included in this novel, she had obviously done her research and it paid off. Honestly, I just love the bright badass women that Curto writes so well.

"You’re so many things: Brilliant beyond belief. Funny. One of a kind. But beneath all of that, you’re a summer girl who loves to be outside. If someone asked me to describe you, I’d call you an endless sunset.” He gestures at the field and up to the sky. “Beauty in its most perfect form.” 🌅✨

Sebastian was the SWEETEST, most thoughtful, and caring man. The ketchup scene anyone?🥫(if you know you know 🙇🏻‍♀️) He was one of those men that have a great sense of humour but you can just tell there’s more to him. He was a constant bright light, and a protector at heart. I do wish we got to know him a little more, but there’s no doubt he was a clever and considerate young man.

Honestly, rivals-to-lovers isn’t my favourite trope but Curto did it SO WELL! The dynamic between these two was impeccable from start to finish. The pacing was literal perfection. The communication was top-tier. I loved every single thing about this contrasting duo. And I really appreciated that despite them being in the same field, there was no animosity between them. Sebastian treats her like the superwoman she is, and moreover, he makes sure to tell her how worthy she is at every given opportunity. Throughout the book there are so many memorable scenes that exude compassion and fun. I loved the endless game of Truth or Dare, the ketchup stash, the storm chasing, and the weather chats. I couldn’t get enough of them, and the epilogue was exactly what I needed - they are such a unique and passionate couple 💖

Overall, I had such a great time reading this book. It is extremely binge worthy, as we are carried through the storm season. i've been meaning to pick up a chelsea curto book for so long, and i'm so happy this was my first! as an avid fan of twisters, i had very high expectations going into this, and it managed to exceed all of them. it was fast-paced, witty, empowering, and heartwarming. you could really tell just how much research the author put into accurately representing the field of meteorology, a woman working in STEM, and natural disasters. i definitely learned a lot about hurricanes, tornadoes, and storm preparedness from reading this book, even if i was confused at times, which made it all the more entertaining. the chapters flew by so fast, as there was so much going on throughout the whole book. i was hooked from the very start and stayed up late reading into the night, not wanting to put it down.

i also really enjoyed the side characters and seeing their dynamic as a friend group. all their little moments together were so sweet, and i can't wait to see if some of them eventually get their own book.

however, since this was marketed as a 'rivals-to-lovers' book, i was expecting them to be competing against each other and arguing back and forth for a lot longer than they actually did. their rivalry barely lasted long at all, and even seemed to be totally one-sided. i expected more from that aspect of the book, and was a bit disappointed by how quickly it was resolved. i also wish it showed more interactions from their past. we were told a lot about it to make us feel like they had been competing against each other and had a mutual hatred all throughout high school and college, but we were never really shown any of it. i think if more flashbacks were incorporated, it would've been more convincing that they were truly rivals.

i absolutely LOVED her! more books about women in STEM, please! she was so passionate about her job and fearless when it came to correcting others and chasing the storms. she faced a lot of misogyny since she works in a male-dominated field, but she never let that deter her from reaching her goals.

i loved how she always stood up for herself, even when it could've cost her. it was admirable to see such a badass fmc who never let anyone diminish her or her accomplishments. however, even the strongest women get exhausted sometimes having to continuously work harder than men to get to the same place, and quincy's character illustrates that perfectly. she always had to prove herself over and over again while the men around her got everything handed to them, and while she was frustrated at times, she never backed down from a challenge. she took pride in proving the men wrong and that was so empowering to see. i truly adored her character and hope to channel some of her courage and take-no-shit attitude in my own life.



₊ 𖦹﹕sebastian dunn ₊˚꒰📹꒱‧

he works as the weatherman for ABC news, and comes back to florida to film a docuseries on the hurricane season in the southeast. fighting burnout, he uses the assignment as an excuse to figure out what he wants to do with his life and rediscover what reignites his passion for weather.

i adored his character! he was the perfect combination of cocky, playful, and tender. he was quick with witty comebacks and even quicker to offer support to his friends and family. i really enjoyed watching him slowly rediscover his love for weather and seeing the sacrifices he made so that quincy would never be looked down upon for being a woman. seeing him stand up for her at every turn was everything i wanted and more. i firmly believe that is one of the hottest things a man can do—stand up for their girl and make sure their voice is heard. he supported her through every success and every challenge, never letting her feel beaten down or less than because of the misogynistic men in their field. he was her number one fan and believed in her wholeheartedly. he supported her decisions and never kept her from doing something she was set on, even if it was risky. definitely a new favorite book boyfriend!

i'm obsessed with everything about their relationship. they had some of the best banter i've ever read; it had me kicking my feet and giggling so often. i loved how it continued even when they became a couple. that competitiveness and teasing nature between them never faded, only became more affectionate.

the tension between them was palpable, and i was on the edge of my seat waiting for the moment they gave in to that pull between them. also, the way this man was obsessed with her and everything she did!! he was her biggest supporter, whether that was silently from afar or when he was right next to her. the yearning was top tier! gosh, i love when a man is pathetic for his girl, and sebastian was the perfect example of that.

their relationship was the epitome of the 'i can do it by myself' 'i know, but let me help you' trope. sebastian never let her face anything alone, not because he didn't think she was capable, but because he wanted to make sure she was safe and never felt alone. similarly, whenever someone disrespected her in his presence or tried to make her feel less than because she was a woman, he immediately shut it down. he used the power he had as a man in the field to uplift her, even at his own expense. that support and selflessness were woven through their entire relationship.

their relationship was very mature, and they communicated easily, which was refreshing compared to the miscommunication commonly found in other romance books. the effortless way they fit together and loved each other was such a breath of fresh air. i thoroughly enjoyed watching their story unfold.

this was sooo cute and so fast-paced. i loved reading about a strong, independent woman in STEM and high-stakes storm chasing. quincy and sebastian's relationship was so mature and supportive, so heartwarming to read about. the way they faced everything together, and he used his power to uplift her was everything.

i recommend this book if you loved the movie twisters (and were miffed by the lack of a kiss), are interested in weather, or are looking for a super bingeable book to get you through a rainy day. i had so much fun reading it, and i look forward to picking up chelsea curto's other books.

This was one of those books that I never wanted to end, and it was the perfect mix of romance, science, and determination and resilience all in one book. I know I may be coming at this from a biased perspective, considering how much I've raved about Chelsea Curto's books in the past, but I truly believe this was a strong trad publishing debut for her, and I'm so glad that more people will be introduced to her books and her writing through this!

Quincy Monroe is on the rise. With her PhD in atmospheric sciences and a successful weather show called The Rainy Day Show with millions of fans, she's deciding to dream bigger: getting a job at the National Weather Service. The only thing—or someone—standing in her way is Sebastian Dunn, her rival throughout school and professionally...since he's a popular television weatherman. When both of them are vying for the same job, Quincy knows she's at a disadvantage as a woman in a STEM field dominated by men. As she and Sebastian spend more time together during the hurricane season storm chasing, will sparks fly?

If you're new to Chelsea Curto's books, this was a wonderful introduction! As a Chelsea Curto fan, there's so many things that continuously show up in her books, such as a strong FMC lead and little microtropes here and there that the MMCs do. The ketchup packets? That's not the first time a Chelsea Curto MMC has done something like that for their woman. You're going to have to read her other books to find out! (This is also my shameless plug to tell people to read Chelsea Curto's other books, because she has SO many before her trad debut with In Stormy Weather!) If you're a longtime Chelsea Curto fan like myself, you'll also find a bunch of Easter eggs she left behind for us to find of characters in her other books. I had so much fun finding them all and being like, "I GET THAT REFERENCE!"

(I want to make a disclaimer for the new Chelsea Curto fans that you don't have to read her other books to understand the events of In Stormy Weather; but all of her books and series take place in the same universe, so you may find characters from other books getting referenced and whatnot.)

I also love how the story took a specific area of STEM that I feel like is so often misunderstood: meteorology. I feel like so many of us get all grumbly and mad when the weatherman on the local news gets the forecast wrong for the day, but I feel like we got to understand a lot more about what goes on behind the scenes of weather prediction and weather forecasting, especially when it comes down to how unpredictable nature can be at any given point. Yes, the language Quincy and Sebastian use when they're really in the zone can get technical at times, but it wasn't overly technical and niche to the point where laypeople couldn't understand what's going on, which I appreciated.

I loved the banter and the interactions that Quin and Sebastian had throughout the story, but I especially loved how Sebastian was willing to listen to Quin about the issues she had with the field of meteorology and the misogyny she's had to experience being in a male-dominated field. Not once did he make her feel belittled or less worthy compared to others in the field, and he allowed her to stand her ground and prove her worth among the people who didn't believe she deserved to be there. Like, let's be real. The ending scene is my FAVORITE in the entire story. It's such a powerful scene, and I honestly wish more men had as many green flags as Sebastian does. If you know, you know.

(Bonus points for Reginald the Dinosaur, because he's adorable🦖)

One of the things I wasn't fully convinced of in the story was the romance itself. Yes, Quin and Sebastian are the epitome of the forced proximity trope, but because so much of their history is rooted in their past, I would've loved to read more about their pasts for me to feel like the chemistry was there. It's very obvious they do come to care for each other, but they would reference their past academic histories together so many times throughout the story, and there was a lot of telling and not a whole lot of showing in that aspect.

On top of that, I did feel like each of their POVs felt a bit disjointed at times where one person was focused entirely on one thing but the other person wouldn't even be remotely thinking about that at all. I suppose in a way that makes sense; Quin's POV seemed to be mostly about her keeping The Rainy Day Show up and running and the job opportunity potentially becoming hers for the taking, which makes sense because she's a woman in STEM who has to constantly work 10 times harder than her male counterparts to get a fraction of the amount of respect they do. She's constantly having to prove herself time and time again, whereas Sebastian's POV was mostly about him admiring Quin, with the occasional thought here and there about actual meteorology stuff.

Overall, this was still a fun summer read, and I'm SO dang proud of Chelsea Curto for making her trad debut! As a longtime fan of hers, I always had a feeling this day would come for her, and it was just a matter of time, but I'm so glad that this book is going to introduce more people to one of my all-time favorite authors and her books. Run, don't walk, to grab this book when it comes out in stores! You won't be disappointed. I'll be patiently waiting for Cooper's book (hehe)

WOW!! chelsea has done it once again. i'm in awe every time i read her books, and i'm forever grateful that i've discovered her. i loved quincy and sebastian so much—their chemistry, banter, and rivalry felt effortless, and i couldn't get enough of them. the storm-chasing aspect made this feel so unique, adding so much tension and excitement while also showcasing quincy's passion for meteorology.

what i admired most was quincy. she was incredibly driven, intelligent, and unapologetically passionate about what she loved. it honestly broke my heart seeing the sexism she had to endure throughout her career, but at the same time, it felt painfully realistic. despite how far we've come, women in stem and many other male-dominated industries still face these challenges every day. i appreciated that the book didn't shy away from showing those realities, while also highlighting quincy's resilience and determination to prove that she belonged because of her talent—not because she had something to prove to anyone else.

sebastian complemented her so well. beneath all of their teasing and rivalry was so much respect and admiration, and i loved watching their relationship evolve naturally. the romance was filled with so many little moments that made my heart melt, and the emotional depth balanced perfectly with the humor.

this was such a fun, heartfelt, and refreshing romance, and it's easily become another favourite from chelsea. i'll happily read anything she writes.

i absolutely adored quincy. she was fiercely intelligent, ambitious, and so passionate about meteorology that it was impossible not to root for her. watching her navigate the constant sexism and double standards in such a male-dominated field was heartbreaking, especially because it's still a reality for so many women today. i loved that she never let those experiences define her or diminish her confidence. she knew her worth, stood her ground, and kept chasing every storm and every dream with so much determination. i especially loved how unapologetic she was about her passion for her job and how she never felt the need to make herself smaller for anyone.

sebastian completely won me over. beneath his charming TV personality and competitive streak was someone who genuinely respected quincy and admired everything she had accomplished. i loved that he challenged her without trying to outshine her, and their rivalry made their chemistry even better. he was supportive when it mattered most, knew when to step back, and matched quincy's passion every step of the way. together, they brought out the best in each other. this man was **THE** yearner. he was absolutely obsessed with quincy in the best way, always listened to her, and constantly reminded her just how incredible she was. i loved how he kept her on her toes while never making her feel like she had to dim her light.

their chemistry was everything. from the witty banter to the constant competition, they made every scene so entertaining. i loved that even when they were rivals, there was always so much respect between them. watching them slowly let their walls down and realize they were always on the same team made me love them even more. sebastian never once asked quincy to make herself smaller—instead, he admired her brilliance, celebrated her successes, and loved every part of the woman she was. together, they brought out the best in each other, and i couldn't stop rooting for them.

╰┈➤ i absolutely adored this book!! i have always had an interest in weather but specifically hurricanes- which is why i related to quincy the most and found myself nerding out on all the weather talk😭 living on the gulf coast has probably played apart in why hurricanes are so interesting to me bc i see firsthand how much destruction a hurricane can cause. this book explored that aspect so well and i hope it informed people who might not realize how bad it could be.

I love a strong fmc and quincy was exactly that! she showed her worth time and time again even when everyone was out to prove her wrong and question her. and i love how Sebastian was always in her corner supporting her and backing her up!!

speaking of Sebastian- talk about one of the best mmcs i’ve read about this year!! he was so down bad for her and he was BEGGING. BEGGING YALL. the only thing that lowkey irked me was him being too overprotective. like he was doing too much sometimes lol

OMG ALMOST FORGOT ABOUT THE FRIEND GROUP. hello i’m already attached to everyone in the group and I hope this is a trilogy bc to me it was lowkey set up to be one 🤭

TLDR: this author is big on telling instead of showing, and it felt like she watched Twisters and used people’s tiktok personalities to write a romance book. I found the dialogue one-sided, like the characters were talking at each other, not to each other.

‼️edit: just want to add that there are plot points from Twisters taken from the movie that show up in the book. If the characters were supposed to be loosely based off of Daisy Edgar Jones and Glen Powell archetypes, ok fine. But adding multiple things that took place in the movie into the story is just too much for me. It feels wrong? And also lazy. Really interested to see if Chase Me If You Can by Heather Frances that comes out this summer follows the same outline as Twisters as well.

There wasn’t really a reason that they were rivals. It’s just implied and they took classes together and “had witty banter” and were always competing, but were just told that, not shown it. It really takes away from being emotionally invested in the characters and their relationship

A lot of the dialogue felt forced. It felt like the characters were just talking at each other, if that makes sense? Like the author had certain things she wanted the characters to say but had a difficult time working past that to make it a conversation that made sense.

The last thing is that I’m realizing how naturally someone like Ali Hazelwood writes a STEM romance because she’s already so immersed in that world whereas it felt to me like this is a writer who did some research because she watched Twisters and thought it would make a good romance book. I recently read BK Borisons ‘And Now, Back to You’, which also features weathermen and women, so it was hard not to compare, but there was something very juvenile about this book and these characters.
