I don’t lose control. I don’t trust. And I don’t let anyone close enough to ruin me.
I’ve survived by being sharper, colder, and smarter than everyone who’s ever tried to own me. My life is built on secrets, hard choices, and a promise I can’t afford to break. I have an endgame—and it doesn’t include temptation.
Then Cash Phillips stepped into my orbit.
He sees too much. Pushes too hard.
Challenges every rule I live by with a smile that promises disaster. With every clash, he tempts me with something I’ve never allowed myself to want - the freedom of letting go. But if I fall, I don’t just risk my heart—I risk everything. And I refuse to kneel for anyone. Even a man who feels dangerously like my equal.
I don’t back down from a challenge. I don’t walk away.
Stella was never supposed to be more than a game—sharp tongue, iron control, walls built high and tight. But the more I push, the more I realize she isn’t pretending. She’s powerful. Trapped. And one step from shattering. She thinks I want her defeat. What I want is her surrender—chosen, willing, earned. I don’t want her because she’s untouchable. I want her because she fights me every inch of the way. And because beneath all that armor is a woman who deserves a king… even if taking the crown could ruin us both.
High heat. Deadly secrets. One wrong move—and it’s over.
Riley Edwards is a Wall Street Journal and USA Today Bestselling author, wife, and military mom. Riley was born and raised in Los Angeles but now resides on the east coast with her fantastic husband and children.
Riley writes heart-stopping romance with sexy alpha heroes and even stronger heroines. Riley's favorite genres to write are romantic suspense and military romance.
I was going to write a long lengthy review but decided against it because there is nothing to read here that is in anyway entertaining.
This is mostly a work of someone who didn't clearly think out the plot, left out A LOT of details like how, when and where MCs knew each other and for how long.
What's FMC's job? Who does she work for? First she says she kills for a living, then we are told she collects "intel" and can't be trusted. What does that mean? Is she a double agent spy? A contracted killer? A CIA agent?
They both have traumatic pasts and trust/commitment issues yet that flies out the window after they give in and have sex which is real quick in the beginning and suddenly they are in love. Uhm, how? When? They know NOTHING about each other. Not even their real name!
Then we have FMC getting kidnapped and the supposedly strong, kick-ass heroine we are told she is, goes out the window because she needs to be rescued - she can't rescue herself.
We also have the most bazaar point too when we learn she is raising her God-daughter because the kid's parents were murdered and that she had legal documents naming MMC as the Father and Guardian should anything happen to her! Uhm... going back to the point I made about them not knowing each other and also on the heels of her learning that MMC doesn't want kids EVER and that he had a vasectomy years prior to prevent it, suddenly he is all "in" and in love with the kid at first sight and okay with what she did - a supposedly total stranger?
And speaking of them in love, there's also the little snippet during the "separation" (aka just before she got kidnapped) where MMC thinks of going to pick up a random woman to have sex and forget FMC. This came up 2 or 3 times and the last time he was getting ready to leave to do so when the kid called him to come and get her.
So yeah, we go from that POV to next page where he suddenly says he wants them to be a family and that he is in love with the kid and possibly FMC - only once she is rescued to flip flop back that he is not good enough, etc.
And what's up with the age of the kid? First she is 5 years old and then a few chapters later she is seven. Stuff like this drives me nuts. If I have to spend my time and money to read your crap, the LEAST you all who write this stuff can do is check your darn work! Not to mention the misspelling. Does no one understand how spell check works these days? Are we living in the dark ages? LOL have merci!
Two stars (generous for me) for the cute kid, but man did this test my sanity with all the immature dialogue MMC & his friends uttered around the kid about Kings, Queens, Dragons, Snakes, etc. No 7 year old talks, acts or is talked back the way this one was portrayed. A five year old, absolutely! But a seven year old? Absolutely not!
Safety:
No OP No cheating but MMC did think about hooking up with any OW during separation. No virgins. MMC said he slept around a lot and so did FMC. Violence in the form of villain beating up/slashing FMC
Riley has done it again I was looking forward to Cash and this story didn’t disappoint! Cash and Stella “Lore” both have traumatic pasts. Both with personalities that don’t back down from anything.
The emotions that Cash and Stella’s story puts you through is felt from the first chapter. Fear of love, failure, being unwanted is something these two characters feel all too well. Life threw Stella a curve ball and now she’s taking care of the cutest little girl. A phone call is all it takes to steal Cash’s heart and he won’t stop until he gets his family.
Like any Riley book there’s action, love, found family and banter! The gasp I gasped with that epilogue! I can’t wait to see what the next adventure will be!
The perfect ending for Silver Team. The king finally getting his Queen and their warrior princess!
It was like a compulsion, and those were bad, too. He was a compulsion. An addiction. One I both hated and couldn’t get enough of.
“The person who you’d burn the world down for.” The person who’d you burn the world down for. Zane was wrong. I hadn’t found the person. I’d found two.
Tropes: 🩶 Action 🩶 Found Family 🩶 Banter 🩶 Bad ass FMC 🩶 Protective MMC 🩶 Single Guardian
“We are both two walking red flags 🚩” I was here for every single second of it. Cash is a girl dad through and through, which already had me, but add in that fierce, formidable, touch her and die energy and I was absolutely done for. And Stella? Badass, fierce, stubborn — she is not a woman who bends for anyone. These two going head to head was everything. Two red flags, zero apologies, and all the tension you could ask for.
There are many other issues with her books, but the most basic are the rampant, easily caught errors. And the problem has gotten progressively worse over the years. These errors clearly indicate that this author never once reads back over anything she’s written…which means…
I’m starting to think one of two things: she uses AI to write or she uses voice to text. I can understand the latter, but will never read the former.
A large room is not carnivorous. Things your kid does outside of school are not extra circular activities. Your guardian kid doesn’t go from 5 to 7 years old and dark eyes to blue eyes. Oh…and who is Harper???
Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy.
Now…let’s get to more basics: people do not heal immediately from dislocated shoulders (Jonas’ book) or lashings across your back…but both FMCs were hot to trot within hours or a day of their supposed serious injuries.
And if she had been beaten for 7 years with a leather belt, the scars on her back would have been SIGNIFICANT. She would have had at least some mobility problems because the layers and layers of untreated scar tissue would not have elasticity. Anything pulling on that skin would have been painful or more likely restrictive.
Speaking of that…her “abuse” never made any sense. She’s the debutante, socialite daughter of wealthy parents. She would have had to make appearances at social events and could not have done so if she was beaten. And there’s never really any reason given for her abuse…just that she needed to know her place. Was her mother abused too? Come on…at least make something so consequential to the FMC’s story arc a little more believable.
Anyway…she was so tiresome. Disliked her in the previous book. She was clownish. Supposedly this formidable, stoic vixen. Yet, clownishly emotional and everyone could read her. If I heard her say “never gonna happen” or similar one more time, I was going to start a drinking game for every time she did exactly what she clownishly declared she wouldn’t. Not relatable and honestly, I was just trying embarrassed for her and wished she could find a shred of self-respect if that was how she felt. Their first smexy time was as cringe as I’ve ever read, and that’s saying a lot.
Her woe is me, eeyore attitude was exhausting. I didn’t find anything redeemable about her rich girl nastiness. And the way the story just ends with such a thunk was ridiculous. HORRIBLE ENDING, which wasn’t really even an ending…I get the need to segue into the next series, but I’m just talking about how poorly this chapter was brought to a close. Amateur hour and Edwards is too veteran an author to excuse that. Anyway…I feel like I put more thought into this review than she did the entire book, so I’m gonna stop here.
I feel like I have been waiting for Cash’s story since he first graced the page of my e-reader and let me tell you, Riley Edwards does not disappoint. Cash picks up right where Jonas left off, tying up the loose ends and setting Cash off on a clean up mission with Lore. These two are truly made for one another. This book is truly one of this author’s best, taking two dark and twisted souls and humanizing them, allowing them to truly see one another. Edwards has a phenomenal storytelling gift and she adds more than one twist to this story. No spoilers here but for those of you who have been around since Red Team…you are not going to want to miss the end of Silver Team. We get to see Cash, the King (no pun intended) of using humor to deflect, get absolutely knocked to his knees by the one thing he never wanted in life. It’s delightful. Riley Edwards somehow manages to weave Lore seamlessly with Stella, merging both into the best protector Cara could ever hope for. It’s such a gift to be able to take these characters and give them so much depth and discovery. While this can be read as a standalone, I would HIGHLY recommend reading in series order. Bare minimum, one should read Jonas, at least, read Silver, and ideally, from the start of Z-Corp with Red Team. I will say, one of my favorite parts of the entire book was when Zane promised Cara she would have her own special protector and then looked at his son. I’m begging right now, pretty please, can we get the two of them as a second generation? I had immediate visions in my head when I read that line and I need the full story! I love the glimpses of Black Team and I can’t wait to continue on this ride with another team! And can I say That Epilogue!?!? What wild ride is in store from that?!?
15 hours. 15 hours was all it took for Riley Edwards to wreck my world. CASH is KING.
If you’re a Riley Edwards fan IKYK. And as Riley always does, she took the broken pieces and somehow put them back together even more beautifully than before.
Cash is well… Cash. We all know and love him. The king. A rogue, a thief, the handsomest king in the world. But he has demons, and his Queen? She’s no easy conquest. Stella is steel walls and sharp edges, and honestly I loved her for it. These two go head-to-head in the best way possible. The banter was elite, the chemistry was off the charts, and the tension was absolutely delicious.
But underneath all that heat and verbal sparring are two people carrying enough pain and trauma to break them. Riley makes you feel every ounce of it. There were moments my chest physically hurt for these characters, moments I wanted to shake them, hug them, and moments I just stared at my Kindle whispering “oh my God.”
And then there’s the found family aspect Riley Edwards always delivers perfectly. The Silver Team crew, the loyalty, the humor, the protectiveness, the chaos. And Zane? He absolutely steals every scene he walks into.
What wrecked me most was watching two people who refused to surrender slowly realize they’d burn the world down for each other anyway.
“The person who you’d burn the world down for.” Yeah. That line destroyed me.
Cash is emotional warfare wrapped in tension, heat, action, heartbreak, healing, and one incredibly earned happily ever after. Riley Edwards truly saved the king for last.
Cash is the fifth (#5) and final book in the SILVER TEAM series.
Cash is the long awaited final release in Riley’s excellent Silver Team series.
As usual all our favourite characters are in play, doing what they do best.
Cash Philips, the teams mouthy, cocky and egotistical member actually comes across a lot softer, loving and caring in this book than I expected. He’s always been portrayed as a loner, a one night stand king, who wasn’t looking for any kind of relationship and definitely didn’t want kids. Turns out the opposite is true and when Cash falls, he falls hard!
There wasn’t as much of Zane’s caustic yet hilarious banter as we’ve come to expect and this was a bit disappointing tbh. Instead Riley shows the much softer, caring side of him in this story. The book isn’t so much about the fantastic action scenes we know her for (there is a bit but it’s not as high octane action as we’re used to ), rather this book concentrates on the emotional side.
Cash faces his past and self worth insecurities and Stella, along with her own insecurities has to learn how to let go of her old life and become someone new.
I enjoyed this book, Riley always keeps the storyline flowing and it was great to catch up with Z corps again, however this book didn’t grab me like previous books did.
I read a paperback version, with around 400 pages, a male model cover and reasonable editing (sadly I found a LOT of uncorrected errors).
The wait is over and Cash is here and it is so worth it. Two characters who don't step back from a challenge. Lore / Stella has a life built on secrets no one gets close, she's survived by not letting them in, the Ice Queen, always in control, always with the power but she's made a promise she is determined to keep whether she is ready or not for the consequences. Cash Phillips is arrogant, pushy and very very tempting. The sparks fly and the chemistry burns bright as the fames of attraction battle the constant verbal sparring. Stella knows it is only temporary because he doesn't fit the plan but Cash makes her want to give in. Cash didn't plan on Stella, he's never wanted any woman in his life for more than a fleeting moment but he is determined to to make Stella his and doesn't want to walk away. Both indelibly shaped by their heartbreaking pasts, Cash has his team, Stella has no one but neither knows how let down their shields, can they over come their huge mistrust of emotions, feelings and anything approaching a happy ever after. Wow this book will grab your heart, I did cry and I may have also berated the strong-willed (read stubborn or determined) borderline emotionally stunned pair whilst also adoring them in their attempt to navigate feelings and a relationship. So much to love and Zane is happily very present and if you don't adore him you will fall all over again. Thank you Riley Edwards for your truly wonderful books, for making me cry and always leaving me craving more!
Wow, well this book had literally EVERYTHING and for the many die hard Riley fans, hold on to your Rebels pin and get ready to have everything you know rocked!
Cash was of course such an emotional read. We knew a fair amount about him from previous books in this series, and he was always going to be a tough one to match up. The little we knew about Lore didn’t bode well, and despite me semi-shipping them in the last book, I had my doubts about where this might go
Well the emotional baggage unpacked in this book was more than I’d need to travel the world for 12 months, and it was literally being fling at you from every direction
I adored this, and the team were of course on point. We got to see Zane in daddy mode, Eric in protective mode (the CUTENESS!) and the family expanded wonderfully to welcome the newest members
The heat between Stella and Cash was immense and almost torched my kindle, but the real moments for me were the heart wrenching ones. The love at first sight ones, the realisation of being home ones
I finished this book in shock….and can’t wait for Black team (I’m betting on Penny and Dutch!) and more secrets to be revealed
Oh you master of distraction Riley, you fibber (never writing about a certain someone again my butt!) I do adore you
Just when you think Riley can’t top herself, she says, "Hold my coffee," and gives us Cash. Zane Lewis remains one of my all-time favorite fictional characters, and he certainly lives up to his reputation here. He brings that larger-than-life energy—the kind of swift kick in the pants that is essential for a great alpha romance.
In Cash, we get two characters cut from that same cloth: Cash and Stella. Both are carrying shipping containers’ worth of emotional baggage. Yet, that’s exactly what draws them together—the recognition that the other person truly sees and understands them. Of course, they first have to navigate each other’s past hurts and armor. It makes for an at-times painful, yet deeply rewarding read.
That’s the hallmark of Riley’s books: while there may be some bittersweet moments, you are always guaranteed a happily-ever-after and the continued growth of her found-family universe. Cash and Stella embody that perfectly. With fast-paced action, plenty of heat, laugh-out-loud humor (mostly courtesy of Zane), and the heartwarming camaraderie of the Z Corps, this is another incredibly satisfying win. I’m already ready for the next one.
Cash delivers a strong finish to the Silver Team Series with a solid MMC, an equally capable MFC, and the guaranteed HEA Riley Edwards always nails. As a series capstone, it hits many of the right notes — but it also leaves a few hanging in the air.
While I adore Zane Lewis and the entire Z Corps crew, this installment felt like something was missing. The trademark bawdy banter — that chaotic, hilarious, brother‑in‑arms energy Zane brings to every scene — was present, but not nearly as prolific or unrestrained as usual. And the ending, though satisfying in its core resolution, landed sudden and a bit incomplete, almost as if a final beat or two slipped through the cracks.
The short Zane “blurbs” were fun, but they also highlighted the gap — a sense that there’s more story lurking just off‑page. Will we get a Black Team book? Is this truly the last we’ll see of the Silver Team?
For now, we wait… and hope Riley Edwards isn’t done with this world just yet.
FMC: Stella “Lore”, Cara (7) MMC: Cash “King” Phillips Spice: 🌶️🌶️ Pages: 304 Tropes: Enemies-to-Lovers, Military Romance, Single Guardian Setting: Montana; Maryland
Thoughts: I really enjoyed this book. It was fast paced and easy to follow. Stella and Cash grew up vastly different but had some very important similarities in their adult lives. They both kept everyone at arms length as a measure of protection, and they were both used to being in control. Seeing them lose their tight grip on their control with each other really emphasized their trust of each other, even before they were ready to admit it. I loved their bond with Cara. They both fell so instantly for her despite being sure they weren’t fit to be parents. There were plenty of twists to keep me guessing, along with a bit of a cliffhanger in the epilogue. While this is the last book in the Silver Team series, I’m anxiously awaiting the next Team series!
Cash is truly King!! What an amazing story!! How can anyone not love Cash? I mean here’s a man that thinks he’s unlovable because of his childhood, but with everything that this man does for Stella, Zane and his team mates and their women, you can just see that this man has love to give. And let me tell you, when he sets eyes on Cara, game over. That little girl was just what Cash needed in his life. I mean how can you not love a guy that loves a little girl that isn’t even his. That right there is a true sign that he’s an honorable man. This story is exactly what you’d expect from Riley Edwards. Danger and intrigue and passion so hot it will melt your e-readers. Plus you get to see Zane and the rest of the gang, which is always entertaining. This story was truly a great one and when you get to the end…..you won’t believe it. I can’t wait to see what Riley has in store for us next, it’s going to be so, so good.
Ohhhhh Emmmmm Geeeee!!! The journey for Cash & Lore is one of the most heartbreaking journeys that will never get old in the telling!
Fraught with pasts that haunt both Cash & Lore/Stella, neither has any plans of going down the feeling train as the others have done but sometimes things happen that throw you for a loop….and more.
This one is filled with pain, and not just bodily pain…fear of emotions, fear of failure, fear of not being enough.
But when secrets come to life they either learn to adjust or run…until the monsters return to try to play havoc with their lives.
Grab this heart racing, edge of your seat romance filled with secrets, lies, heartache and finally finding the one thing you will fight for until you can fight no more! Loved it!❤️❤️❤️
Families come in different forms. Zane's Silver Team started with brothers-in-arms who have each other's backs, creating a family atmosphere. Each member, except Cash, found their significant other to create their families. Cash has never felt the love of family and feels undeserving. Stella, aka Lore, aka Lolo, did not have a good childhood, and love was not in her plans. However, a little seven-year-old, Cara, became an orphan when her parents were murdered. Stella was Cara's godmother and given custody, and Stella fell in love with the precious little girl. When trouble found Lolo, Cash found Cara and became very protective. Can Stella, Cash, and Cara create their family unit? I recommend Cash.

The long awaited book from Riley Edwards book about Cash Phillips is finally here and it did not disappoint one iota. Cash is King is how he refers tohmself. He's a smart mouthed ladies' man who is drop dead gorgeous and lethal as they come. His perfect foil is Lore/Stella. She's sassy, opinionated and seemingly impervious to his charm. Cash is in for some real shockers as he and Lore wend their way to a relationship. Two different sets of blue eyes that are so alike bring both chaos and peace into his life as truths are revealed. I suspected he would fall but what I didn't figure on was how fast, how far and how hard hefall. I loved every word of it!
Cash is finally here and it was worth the wait. Riley didn't disappoint with this one. Stella aka Lore is the perfect match for Cash she's strong, independent, and can hold her own with Cash and all the banter between them is great and the chemistry WOW. When a surprise phone call from a little girl that will melt your heart chances Cash, he's all in. Emotions, mistrust, and two people trying to get over the past make you keep reading. And then we still have Zane and his way of dealing with people which just makes the book even better and the way the team pulls together to help. Great read with wonderful characters.
A bittersweet ending to the Silver team, sad that it’s done but what an ending with Cash and Stella aka Lore. These two have plenty of banter and innuendos, friction and heat. After Cash runs his mouth off and Stella leaves for good, with no trace of where she went or why, one phone call will have Cash reeling and willing to do whatever it takes to prove to Stella that he is all in…with all of it. A page flipper as these two navigate their past hurts, reevaluate what is important and of course hunt down and take out a threat to Stella with Silver Team and Zane’s people rallying behind them….LOVED IT!!
He wants her surrender. She wants control. Neither expects to fall.
This is a gripping enemies-to-lovers romance with razor-sharp banter and undeniable chemistry. The heroine is fiercely independent and built walls around her heart for a reason. The hero is confident, relentless, and determined to break through them — without breaking her. What follows is a battle of wills filled with tension, passion, and high emotional stakes. If you enjoy strong, complex characters, slow-burn attraction, and a story where trust has to be earned, this one delivers. Dark, steamy, and completely captivating from start to finish.
Get comfortable because you are not going to be able to put this down. Two people struggling with past traumas learn to trust in each other. The tension absolutely crackled between Cash and Lore. Their mutual struggles with believing in love and others was so emotional. Watching their growth both as individuals and as a couple was beautiful. Amidst danger, a little girl turned their worlds upside down in the best ways possible. As always Riley Edwards gave a stellar read full of action and balanced with heart.

After so much build up and hype for Cash, I was thrilled to finally be able to finish the Silver Team series. I don't think this should be read as a standalone. There are a lot of characters and backstory coming together, and I honestly had forgotten some details to the point I considered doing a re-read on the rest of the series just to refresh my memory. I loved cocky Cash, but had a harder time with Lore. I feel like her backstory was vague and I struggled to reconcile her Lore/Stella personas. I was still happy to see them find their way. And that bombshell ending? Diabolical. I don't want to wait!
The much anticipated Cash book from Silver Team. Cash is King. He never thought he would want a Queen. However will the verbal banter he has with Lore/Stella change his mind? Lore/Stella my life has never been a cake walk. However im having to pivot the plan because well life. Cash can only be a temporary distraction. If you read Riley before you know this team of operatives is a family. Will Cash and Stella get a HEA? You have to read to find out. You will not be disappointed. I promise you. Also you may fall in love more with The Viper.
Oh I've been patiently waiting for Cash's book and it did not disappoint. I savored every word written, every emotion hit me with a bang. I cried, I laughed.
The chemistry between the two is off the charts! And the banter between them, so fun to read, that I can easily see Stella/Lore's eye roll. But their pasts both rule their present, both feeling broken, unlovable. Can they find the stregnth to help each other heal? Can the King protect his Queen when danger rolls into town?
This is the last book in the silver team series and it was FANTASTIC! I could not put it down!
I always love the guys and gals of Z Corp. The banter was down played which is disappointing. As always they have each other’s back. I love Cash, Stella and Cara. As always are the characters are well developed and likable. The plot was well thought out and executed. I recommend this book to everyone. It is great, quick read. It checks all the boxes, romance, suspense, funny, good plot and good characters.

“Sometimes giving your heart to someone is the scariest thing of all.”
Riley Edwards hit this one out of the park! Weaving suspense, emotions, trust, and love as only she can deliver. Cash and Stella always trying to be enough, in life and in their relationship. Zane is throughout the book with dimples and heat making us swoon all over again. What a mighty fine man. Fast action, plenty of steam🔥, humor, and the close built family of the Z Corps make this another satisfying addition to the Silver Team. Cash is King … always.
I loved this story of Cash and Stella! She's working for Zane but keeping a secret at home. It gets to the point where she leaves and disappears. Then Cash gets a call from a little girl saying he needs to come get her. He discovers Stella's secret. Zane and Cash rescue Stella. Now its time for Cash to convince Stella that he isn't letting her and Cara go. I love these two together! I love this book and series! I highly recommend! I love everything from Riley Edwards! You cannot go wrong.
I wouldn't call this a disappointment, but I did have higher hopes for Mr. Cash is King. Did we already know how he got his name? If not, the explanation was good. Lore's backstory was good. The story line was simplistic. The outcome with the bad guy was severely anticlimactic. There also wasn't as much humor as I had hoped.
I did enjoy the stories about The King(Cash), The Snake (Zane, code name Viper), and The Dove (Nebraska).
The epilogue does set up a new team whose home base isn't as z-corps.
My favorite of the series. Two perfectly matched characters who won’t back down and have everything to lose. High banter, sharp wit, deadly secrets, emotional turmoil, brotherhood, found family, electric chemistry, a heroine determined to keep her distance at all costs, a hero who will eliminate any threat to keep the one destined for him. And, of course, Zane. Heart to hearts and sage advice (one that really tugs at the heart). Fantastic from beginning to end!
Another great read by Riley. The characters are so true to life that they become a part of you. Hard to put this one down once I saw into the heart of Cash. Such a hardcore warrior with soul wounds that keep him separated from others. Enter Lore, (Stella) another wounded soul they have sparks from the start and the explosion when they come together is electric. Suspense, danger, alpha warriors, strong women and hot sex this series has it all!
Cash, an epic love story for sure. Stella is his perfect match, and really stubborn. Loads of intensity, sass, banter, family, kids being kids, fairy tales, and baby's first words . I loved the Snake, the Dove and the King, and the King does reign supreme. "Be brave." So, so many great parts to this story, it's everything you come to expect with a Ms. Edwards book. Always a one-click author for me.
