Suspicious that her long term boyfriend had been cheating on her, realtor Meera lies in wait in his office one night to catch him in the act with his assistant. What Meera catches him doing, however, is committing a cold blooded execution. In her haste to leave, she accidentally grabs the wrong gym bag and ends up with a fertilized dragon’s egg. As she attempts to deliver the egg to the only dragon she knows of, she’s pursued by many supernatural beings who want to cash in on the precious and rare cargo.
Gargoyle shifter Graham is the only unmated male left at Redrock Security. When he’s sent to retrieve the human Meera and the dragon egg, he feels a lot more than just a professional obligation to her, and her safety becomes paramount. A bad experience a century before has left him sour on a mate, however, and he sabotages what connection he and Meera have.
This was another wonderful read from Maggie Mayhem in the Redrocks Security series, with plenty of steam and adventure, as well as fun cameos from many of the previous books’ characters. I was fortunate to have been furnished an advance reader copy from the author, and I’m sharing my honest review.
Here we go. Possessive Monsters book number eleven. I came a little late to this series, but now that I know, I'm here to stay. After reading the first line in Gamble on a Gargoyle, I knew this was going to be a good one. It's a bodyguard romance! The chemistry between Meera and Graham was fantastic. The banter, the playfulness, and the steam were amazing. She wanted to touch his tail. Ha! Meera was sweet but also a little spicy. She had no problem saying what was on her mind. Graham is a good guy, one of the Redrock brothers, and he took his job very seriously. That is, until Meera shows up. I loved how she brought out a lighter side of him. Neither one of them was looking for a relationship. She just got out of a situation, and he's sworn off women (issues from the past), but somehow they found their way to each other. And it was a wild ride.
This book was amazing. There was a lot of action. The chase is on for a stolen dragon egg. Between the car chases, magical escapades, and confrontations, I was hooked, waiting for the next thing to happen. I loved how Meera fit in with the entire friend group right away. The mystery surrounding the egg and the different groups vying for it was pretty intriguing. When it was all said and done, Gamble on a Gargoyle was an incredibly fun read that went by way too quickly. I love this series; I hope there's more to come. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
She stole a dragon egg. He became the monster between her and death.
Meera only wants proof that her fiancé is cheating. Instead, she witnesses something she can’t unsee, grabs the wrong bag, and ends up fleeing New York with a warm, living dragon egg in her possession. She’s terrified, furious, running on instinct, and still mouthy enough to argue with danger.
Graham is sent to retrieve her before the egg falls into worse hands. He’s a gargoyle with wings, claws, a brutal protective streak, and a past that’s taught him not to trust desire. Meera doesn’t trust him either, but forced proximity strips people to what they really are.
As enemies close in, suspicion turns into heat, and heat turns into something harder to control. Graham wants to protect her, possess her, and keep his distance all at once. Meera sees the wounded man beneath the monster, but she won’t let herself be swallowed by someone else’s fear.
The danger isn’t only outside them. It’s in the old wounds they keep mistaking for truth, the trust they keep testing, and the unsettling relief of being wanted by someone who has seen the worst and still reaches back.
Meera grows from guarded survival into instinct, softness, and desire without surrendering her agency. Graham shifts from lonely, self-punishing protector into a man willing to be seen and loved without assuming intimacy will become exploitation. Together, they move from distrust and survival-driven proximity into high-heat trust, tenderness, and chosen safety.
An ultra-steamy gargoyle monster romance about surviving betrayal, running toward danger with stolen magical cargo, and finding safety with a protective hero who has to learn that love isn’t control. It’s about trust after trauma, sharp banter, found family, and being wanted without being owned.
The Elevator Pitch: After witnessing her fiancé commit murder, a guarded woman flees with a living dragon egg and becomes the target of forces far more dangerous than the man she escaped. The gargoyle sent to retrieve her should be only a protector, but proximity turns distrust into heat, and heat into a bond neither of them is ready to name. As the hunt tightens around them, they must decide whether survival is enough, or whether the most dangerous gamble is trusting someone with the parts of themselves they’ve kept hidden.
There’s something quietly mesmerizing about Gamble on a Gargoyle by Maggie Maybem—the kind of story that doesn’t rush to grab you, but instead settles in, slow and steady, until you realize you’re completely wrapped up in it. Meera’s life takes a sharp, dangerous turn when she goes looking for proof of betrayal and instead stumbles into something far darker. From that moment on, the story moves with a sense of quiet tension—less about explosive action and more about the weight of every choice she makes while carrying something rare, powerful, and very much coveted. There’s an almost reflective quality to her journey, like she’s constantly walking a line between fear and determination, never quite losing her footing. Enter Graham—the gargoyle shifter who feels like he was carved from the same stone he embodies. He’s guarded, restrained, and shaped by a past that refuses to loosen its grip. What makes his connection with Meera so compelling isn’t fiery, instant passion—it’s the resistance. The hesitation. The way he fights what’s clearly pulling him toward her, even when every instinct says she’s his to protect. And that’s where this story really shines. Instead of loud declarations or sweeping drama, the romance unfolds in quiet glances, careful words, and the unspoken understanding that builds between two people who don’t easily open up. It’s a slow burn in the truest sense—one that feels almost meditative, as if the relationship is being carved piece by piece, just like Graham might shape stone. The writing itself carries the story beautifully. It leans into atmosphere and tone, giving readers space to sit with the characters rather than rushing them from one moment to the next. Both Meera and Graham are more reserved, more internal—and that restraint makes the emotional payoff feel earned. If you’re someone who loves a romance that simmers instead of explodes, where connection builds beneath the surface and strength shows up in quiet, steadfast ways, this one is worth the read. It’s less about chaos and more about endurance—about finding something real in the middle of danger, mistrust, and second chances you weren’t sure you wanted. A thoughtful, slow-burning paranormal romance that lingers long after the last page.
When the first sentence grabs you it's very important to just follow it and enjoy the ride. 😂
Meera knows her fiancé is having an affair. After breaking into his office to plant cameras she expects to have the video evidence she needs to leave him without a huge mess. He unexpectedly shows up while she's there and instead of engaging with his secretary he actually kind of murders someone 😬 In a panic while leaving Meera grabs the wrong bag and what she finds in this bag is unlike anything she's ever seen. She knows someone has been killed for it, she knows what her fiancé is capable of in regard to it, and she knows without a single doubt she needs to do whatever she can to keep it safe. She may not know a lot but she does learn it's a dragon egg and the only thing she can think is to try to get this egg to the Dragon in Darlington, a town where monsters openly live and the only place she knows where a dragon can be found. So much for no mess, huh?
Graham is the last unmated gargoyle in his house. Seeing his brothers with their mates has definitely left him feeling some kind of way since he swore off women more than a hundred years ago. He, like his brothers, is an employee of Redrock Protective Services and when the museum gets a call about a rare dragon egg his boss tasks him with intercepting the girl and the egg. Graham doesn't understand why he's immediately drawn to this woman and why he wants to keep her safe so badly. Once they're back in Darlington and the investigation is underway on where the egg came from and what Meera's now ex was doing with it, Graham finds himself actively fighting to stay away from her. Once he gives in to temptation and gets in close proximity he realizes that what his instincts and everyone around him are screaming may be true, Meera may be his. But knowing her stay in town is less than temporary Graham doesn't know how to not only keep her safe from the list of threats that seem to grow by the day but also how to get her to stay when she insists she has to go.
He calls her trouble and sweetness and I absolutely love that 🤭😍 She wants to touch his tail, he says no, but then lets her do it anyway 😏
Graham, the final Redrock Brother meets his mate, and fights the attraction kicking and screaming. No way was he ever falling for another women’s wiles! One bad experience was enough for any gargoyle’s lifetime! But there is something about Meera that he just can’t seem to resist!
Meera has been betrayed by her fiancé and when she tires to catch him in the act, she catches him cimmitting murder instead. Panicked, she grabs her gym bag by his desk and makes a run for it to her apartment. When she gets there, she realizes she grabbed the wrong bag and finds a huge egg in there. After some research on the internet, she realizes it is a dragon egg and that she must protect it from the people that stole it and were trying to sell it. The only dragon that she knows about lives in Darlington. So, she and her egg go on the run to try and get to Darlington. She calls the museum and asks for Desmon and tries to tell him about the egg. He doesn’t believe her so she sends him a video of the egg. In the mean time there are a bunch of people on her tail trying to get the egg. Desmon sends Graham to find Meera and bring her and the egg back to him.
These two clash from the get go. Meera doesn’t believe he is there to help her and runs from him too. But after saving her several times, she reluctantly agrees to trust him to get her and the egg to Darlington. You would think that once she was in Darlington and the egg was under Desmon’s protection she would be safe. But magical beings are still coming after her and Graham must step up his game to keep her safe. A great read with lots of emotion, action, laughter and a great ending!
Maggie Mayhem has done it again! As a long-time fan who has devoured every single book in the Possessive Monsters series, I had sky-high expectations for Graham’s story, and it did not disappoint.
This installment follows Meera, who is thrust into a high-stakes nightmare after witnessing her fiancé commit a crime and accidentally making off with a stolen dragon egg. Her journey to Darlington is tense and atmospheric, perfectly setting the stage for her encounter with Graham, the last unmated Redrock brother.
Why This is a Series Standout:
• The Ultimate Slow Burn: Graham is a gargoyle who has sworn off women for over a century. Watching his iron-clad resolve crumble in the face of Meera’s "trouble and sweetness" is incredibly satisfying. The resistance and hesitation between them make the eventual payoff feel so earned.
• Action Meets Heart: The plot involving the dragon egg adds a layer of urgency that kept me turning pages. It’s the perfect blend of paranormal mystery and the protective, "possessive" energy this series is known for.
• Familiar Faces: One of the best parts of being 11 books deep into this world is seeing "the gang" again. Meeting up with the previous couples while Graham finds his match made this feel like a true homecoming.
• That Signature Steam: For those who love the spice, the "tail time" and chemistry here are top tier. Maggie Mayhem knows exactly how to balance sweet emotional connection with steamy, creative encounters.
If you’ve loved the series so far, this is a must-read that hits all the right notes. I’m already looking forward to seeing where this world goes next!
Thank you Maggie Mayhem for sending me this advance review copy for free. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I loved every minute of this!
There is so much action and danger, but there are also so many good cozy scenes to balance it.
I loved both Graham and Meera! Graham came with a lot of baggage from a previous relations ship, and it was interesting to watch him finally work through it and figure out he deserved to be loved and not just used.
Meera was fantastic and bonus points for her being a BIPOC character. I loved all the little bits we got with her mother, and it felt very authentic without being forced. Getting her parent's backstory was also nice too. Meera has gone through it, and she stays strong and independent the whole time. She deserves that HEA, and it was so good!
The side characters were amazing. I haven't read all of the books in the series yet, but Maggie gave us enough info along the way that I didn't have any problem understanding the relationships between all of them. It was perfection, and I loved how we got to learn through the character's POV instead of it just being an info dump. It was so good, and now I want to go back and read the books I missed so I can learn about all of them.
The spice was awesome, and we all love a fun time with a gargoyle tail! It was the perfect amount without taking over the story too.
Overall this was a great fast paced story, with tons of action to keep you going! I can't wait to read the next book in the series too!
Ooof, where to start, where to start. I guess with Karim was a jerk and he got what he deserved. Let's just get that out of the way, huh?
Next, great news for readers like me who tend to drop into the middle of a series, this book functions perfectly well as a standalone. It references prior events in the series, but it's not necessary to have read the previous books to enjoy this one. I did appreciate how when something from a previous book was important to the plot (The Wall, Elana's history with her ex, etc.) it was briefly explained in a way wasn't just an exposition dump. I'll admit it, I'm getting older and sometimes I'll go months, sometimes even years between reading books from a series, and I wish more authors gave brief recaps of prior events when they affect the plot. My memory/attention span isn't what it used to be, you know?
Anyway, characters were great, the plot was engaging, and I was actually surprised when I hit the end of the book because I hadn't realized I'd been reading that long
Oh, and there's a scene of DP **WITH HIS TAIL!** Really, I should have put that at the beginning of my review. It probably could have just been the entirety of my review because it was just that important. So, I guess if you don't like gargoyle-tail DP, probably skip that part, but, well, you probably wouldn't be looking up reviews for monster f*cker books if you weren't into it
Meera was shocked to find what her boyfriend soon to be ex-bf was doing behind her back. She was going to put cameras in his office next thing she knows she is running across country with a dragons egg trying to get to a dragon she knew that may be able to help her. She never thought that the gargoyle that would be sent to help her and keep her alive would become special to her. Graham was taken aback by this fiesty woman who was dodging people who were after her she didn't lose her courage as they were put through some pretty close calls trying to bring the dragon egg to his boss. The chemistry between these two made for a really good read especially when you throw in the rest of the mates that help Meera navigate through everything. Graham is having to face his past with the woman that betrayed him and is finding that Meera is nothing like the woman he was betrayed by. I loved how Meera stood up to Graham through everything and kept him on his toes. The way this story is written will keep you hooked to the end and a few surprises thrown in always makes for a better read. Being able to read some our favourite past characters as they like to interfere with Graham and push him out of his comfort zone makes for a few laughs and enjoyment. I cannot wait to see who this author will tackle next. This is a must read!!
Meera is in her fiance's office cowering in the broom closet. She just saw her fiance murder someone. This will teach her to try to get evidence on his infidelity. He leaves, she grabs her gym bag and runs. She arrives home to find that the bag she took isn't hers and when she glances into it she finds an egg. At least she thinks it's an egg...maybe a dragon egg? So she researches. And yes it is a dragon egg. YIKES! She knows her ex fiance will come looking for her so she packs a backpack with items she'll need and in another backpack puts towels inside then puts the egg in it. Then she runs. Calling Darlington Museum was a bust so she figures she'd be better getting there. Graham is a gargoyle who has kept himself single since his one time falling in love with a female showed that she was shallow and just used him. Now the dragon of Darlington has hired his agency to find a human female who has a dragon egg. From the moment he meets her he is sort of smitten. but his insecurities rear their ugly head. He protects her and the egg. From one dangerous situation to another until they fall together draws the reader into a male who has issues and is fighting a losing battle and a human woman who is independent and strong and who takes no sh++ from him. The reader will love the interactions between the two.
Disclaimer: While I am entirely thankful to Maggie Mayhem for trusting me with her book and including me on her ARC team, all words and opinions expressed are entirely my own.
This was a fun, fast paced, sweet and steamy paranormal romance with plenty of action, danger and a protective gargoyle who absolutely stole the show.
Our FMC, Meera is having the worst night of her life when she goes to catch her cheating fiancé and instead witnesses him commit murder. In her panic she grabs the wrong bag and ends up on the run with a stolen dragon egg. I loved how quickly the story throws you into the chaos and never really lets up. Meera is brave, a little impulsive and determined to do the right thing even when everything is going wrong. Her instincts to protect the egg made her easy to root for.
Then we have Graham, our MMC. A grumpy gargoyle from Redrock Protection Services who is sent to retrieve both Meera and the egg. He is all claws, wings and broody protectiveness but underneath that stone exterior he’s a total softy. I loved his internal conflict and the way he attempts to fight the pull towards Meera while still doing everything he can to keep her safe. The grumpy meets sunshine energy between them worked so well. These two clash from the start but the more time they spend together the stronger that connection becomes. The chemistry is great, the banter is fun and the steam delivers without overshadowing the plot.
My view: I really enjoyed the whole story. The chase, the supernatural world, the danger surrounding the egg all kept things moving and added to the drama. Overall this was a highly enjoyable read with a strong heroine, a protective and slightly grumpy but lovable hero and a story that blends romance, action and a touch of humour really well. A great addition to the series with a lot of heart.
What a fun, adventurous read! Although it's been a while since I've kept up with this series, the relentless action kept me hooked from the start. The author did a solid job incorporating both new and returning characters to create a seamless, consistent storyline. Furthermore, I was intrigued by the lore surrounding the dragons and the shady businesses operating in the background. This would definitely be an interesting plot point to dive into further in the future.
As for the main characters, Meera was resilient, intelligent, and never backed down from a challenge. Graham, while a bit stubborn, had a kind heart and showed deep commitment to both his duty and Meera. I loved the gradual romantic development between the two, which in turn made their spicy scenes incredibly steamy and passionate. Finally, a shout-out to the author for the Desi representation; it's rare to see them in these subgenres.
I WOULD RECOMMEND IF 📒
If you're looking for a spicy and adventurous monster romance novel featuring themes such as "FMC on the run," "possessive/protective MMC," "forced proximity," "found family," "tail play," and "HEA," then this is the book for you.
This story is all about a romance between a human and a grumpy gargoyle. The characters really stand out, both the main characters and the side characters. There is humor but also a murder and bad guys chasing the heroine, and a magical world where we meet all kinds of mythical creatures who are living in the non-magical human world.
Graham is a grumpy gargoyle who works with his brothers in their security agency, and he is the last of his brothers to be single. After having a terrible relationship a century ago, he swears he is not interested in women. Meera is a spunky and brave woman who almost married her fiancé until she witnessed him killing someone. She goes on the run with a dragon egg and is chased by both humans and magical super-naturals. Through a twist of fate Graham is hired to find and protect Meera. They have an immediate attraction, but Graham has a lot of baggage from the past holding him back. Eventually they work through their problems, and they are the perfect compliment to each other. This story was fast paced and action filled. I love the dialogue of all the characters and the humor they bring to the story.
Gamble On A Gargoyle is a spicy Paranormal romance that finds FMC Meera having a really bad day. She was in the middle of looking for proof her boyfriend was cheating when he returns unexpectedly to his office and she has to hideout in a closet, and witnesses him murdering someone. Yup, definitely a bad day! But wait it gets worse, after he leaves and she flees discover she’d grabbed his gym bag not hers, and what it contains just may get her erased from life too. Opening the bag she discovers a dragon’s egg of all things and after doing a quick internet search the egg undoubtedly belonged to the dragon of Darlington. Meera knew what she had to do, return it to Darlington before her now ex Karim discovered she had the egg. MMC Graham who happens to be a Gargoyle has just been given a new job, to find that stolen egg! I enjoyed their fun story that unfolds with humor, danger, intrigue, surprises, personal vulnerabilities, action, emotion, and passion. A wonderful adventure that brings together a mortal and a supernatural in a perfect for each other, entertaining read.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I’ve really come to love the Possessive Monsters series, and Gamble on a Gargoyle was such a satisfying way to spend more time in this world. One of my favorite things about this series is the characters—they’re so well developed that by this point they feel like old friends, and it’s always a treat to see them again.
This book focuses on Graham, the last single gargoyle brother, and it was great to finally get his story. The dragon egg storyline kept things interesting, and I loved how it added a little extra intrigue alongside the romance.
I especially enjoyed all the glimpses of past characters woven throughout the story—it really rewards longtime readers without taking away from the new couple. Watching Graham’s relationship develop felt genuine and engaging, and it fit perfectly with the tone of the series.
Honestly, this book made me want to go back and reread the whole series from the beginning, which is always a sign of a great addition. If you’ve been following along, this one is definitely worth picking up!
Meera is on the run, carrying precious cargo, and the last thing she wants is to trust anyone. Enter Graham the Gargoyle—tasked with ensuring she reaches her destination safely. Reluctant to rely on him, Meera takes a gamble, and what follows is a tense, chemistry‑charged journey where secrets simmer and nothing is quite as it seems.
Set in a vivid world where magic and monsters roam freely, this story has both action and heart. Meera shines as a strong, determined FMC who refuses to be cowed, while Graham is an intriguing MMC—stoic, stubborn, and fighting hard against feelings he doesn’t want to admit. Their dynamic is equal parts fiery, funny, steamy and tender, making their bond flow nicely.
Gamble on a Gargoyle is an entertaining, fast‑paced read with interesting characters and a romance that shines. If you like fantasy romance with grit, a bit of danger, interesting worldbuilding, characters, magic and steam, you will like this one!
Recommended author and series 🦄🍀👍🦄☺️ 4.6 🌟 stars! (Rounded makes 5!)
I was looking forward to Graham’s story! From start to finish I enjoyed reading this book. The plot is great, has suspense, humor, heat, lots of great moments and awful things (ghouls; yuck!!). However I do have mixed feelings about a few things. Both Graham’s and Meera’s personalities and/or actions are puzzling me. Graham is a quiet, grumpy, a strong Hero-type, very handsome and overall a sweet guy and great character. And yet he is still pining over a witch who betrayed him over a century ago? Meera is placing camera’s in her boyfriend’s office to prove he is cheating on her? Seems a bit weird to me, but it explains why she had to hide when he entered his office. And then while hiding, she witnessed a horrible situation.
I would love to know what kind of witch Meera is. Maybe we’ll learn in the next book of this series, when Meera and Elana have their magic lessons together. Maybe Elana is our next heroine. Or maybe Emmett -the underdog- might be our future Hero? Overall I enjoyed reading this book and no doubt I will reread the entire series.
I have been a fan of the series and this had the same vibe. The action, the story and the setting felt very on brand and flowed well.
My issue was with the characters. The FMC Meera was just meh. She was looking for help, and when said help came she was mean to him? I get being unsure if it’s a lie or not, but after he proved himself? And then she kept insisting on going back…to what? There was nothing back but you had something good there.
The MMC, Graham was also weird. A girl being a bitch a century ago truly TRULY kept you off women for that long? And once you get with Meera you don’t speak up? His reasoning was just unbelievable.
Plus, he did say “yoink” when taking something from the FMC…ick
The vibe as the same as the rest of the series, but I definitely prefer previous couples to this one. Mainly book 1, my OGs, I still love u.
Rating: 5 ⭐️ Spice: 3 🌶️ Tropes: gargoyle x human • on the run • forced proximity • fated mates • possessive male
I received an advance review copy (ARC) and am sharing my honest, unbiased review.
Book no. 11 in the Possessive Monsters series, and Graham, the last Redrock brother, finally finds his mate. Or he would, if he could get out of his own way. Graham has sworn off women forever and ever. Spoiler alert: That doesn't work out so well for him...
As usual for the books in this series, the romance and spice are paired very well with action, leaving a book that's hard to put down. Does the author reinvent the wheel with this book? No, but what she's doing works! The series works as a total comfort read - love it!
I loved the catalyst for the storyline; the dragon egg and the properties it has (no spoilers 😉)
This book is for you if you are looking for romance and action with a fated mate twist.
This is a really exciting story. I really enjoyed reading it and couldn’t put it down once I started. Graham is a gargoyle shifter and has been sent to protect Meera who is a human. Meera is trying to escape from her ex-boyfriend when she witnesses him killing someone over a very expensive transaction, and when she discovers a dragon egg in his office and takes off with it, she decides to take it to a dragon after learning that her ex-boyfriend was going to sell it for a six figure amount. I thoroughly enjoyed this story with all the action and danger that Meera was in and how Graham did everything in his power to protect her well, also trying to protect his own heart from his feelings towards her. Fate played its part and brought them together to finally find their happily ever after.
I was given an advanced copy of this book to read and I am reviewing with my honest and fair opinion.
3.5 stars We finally find out a little more about Graham, the one who leads the gargoyle security company. Turns out he is not so confident as he portrays. He is insecure and lonely. That loneliness is amplified by being surrounded by his mated brothers. Saving Meera opens his mind and heart to hopeful possibilities. This story takes us on an adventure with action and some heat, and new friendships and fun characters. It is said that Meera has a small amount of magic, unfortunately it is not explored. I love that this author has diverse characters, but it was very vague in this book. It was only at the end that it was clear she was of Indian decent. I would like to have seen more bonding between Meera and Graham. She didn't really know anything about him or the past that shaped him. I look forward to see what happens with Desmon's brother, Emmett and Elana. She needs her hea and a protector.
I liked Meera. She was easy to root for, and I enjoyed following her as she tried to deal with a situation that had very quickly become chaotic, dangerous, and far more complicated than expected. She felt likable and grounded, even when everything around her was very much not normal.
I also liked Graham, though he was sometimes frustrating in a very believable way. His hang-ups around relationships made him act irrationally at times, but in a way that felt recognizably human rather than forced. From his own perspective, he was trying to protect himself emotionally. From the outside, he was mostly sending mixed signals and working against his own happiness. It made him a bit maddening, but also more relatable.
The romance worked for me because there was attraction, tension, and emotional confusion on both sides. The story had danger and adventure, but it still felt like a fun, easy read overall. A good addition to the series.
A cheating ex, a murder and a dragon egg gives this brilliant book the start that instantly captures your attention. As Meera deals with what she has discovered and is on the run trying to get her precious cargo to Desmond, she finds herself being protected by Graham of Redrock Security and the last of the single gargoyle brothers. With her ex on her trail, together with wizards, shifters and ghouls, Meera finds herself leaning more and more on Graham, a gargoyle who is trying to keep his distance due to his past and insecurities.
Discoveries, offers and missteps are made and while you hope, you wonder if Meera and Graham will ever get their HEA. Drama, action and steam make this book one that you will struggle to put down. Whilst it is part of a series, it can be read alone as Maggie gives brief recaps on important aspects so you don't feel like you are missing something when you read it. Highly recommend this book and this series if you haven't had the pleasure.
This paranormal romance pairs a human and a gargoyle in a high-stakes situation as they work together to protect a dragon egg. The setup is immediately engaging and leans heavily into adventure as much as romance. What stands out is that the relationship doesn’t start with instant attraction. Instead, both characters are initially focused on their shared responsibility, and the romance develops gradually from trust and cooperation. That slow-burn approach makes the connection feel more grounded and believable. The stakes remain high throughout, with external threats adding tension and keeping the story moving. The balance between action and emotional development works well, giving the book a broader appeal than a typical romance. Overall, an engaging blend of adventure and romance with a satisfying, steadily built relationship.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
4.5 stars. This story is dual POV, well written, and a fast-paced, sweet and steamy, protector, contemporary fantasy romance between Meera, the female lead who finds a dragon egg, and Graham, the male gargoyle security agency owner lead, who is assigned to protect her. I enjoyed Meera’s courage and instinctive determination to save the egg. I enjoyed Graham’s shock at her sass and proactive choices. I enjoyed his capability, masked by grumpiness. I enjoyed the mutual attraction and the steamy intimate scenes. I appreciated Graham’s character development. I enjoyed the non-romance plot, especially the involvement of secondary characters, many of whom have had their own stories in this series. I enjoyed the happy ending. I enjoyed the banter and the cheerful chosen family feeling.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.
Love these possessive gargoyles and their women! This book centers around Graham, one of the Redrock Gargoyles and Meera, a real estate agent who found a dragon egg. Not sure what to do with the dragon egg she feels the need to protect, Meera is in the process of going to Darlington to see Desmond. Trouble continues to follow her and she doesn’t trust Graham when he says he is there to protect her. As the two of them make their way to Darlington, trouble continue to follow them until Graham needs to shift into his gargoyle form to fly her to Desmond’s estate. There, with the help of Graham’ friends and family, they continue to dodge goblins and others in the process of locating the true owner of the Dragon’s egg. Graham is protective of Meera and finds he is Fallon hard and fast but his past relationship insecurities come between them. Now he has to try to win Meera back.
I love this series. Each is a standalone, but getting to know all of the characters is more fun. The worldbuilding was excellent. POV of both Meera and Graham. I like the writing style. Loved the involvement/help from friends and family. And of course there is a splash of humor thrown in for good measure. I loved the chemistry between Meera and Graham. They work well together. Loved the mysteries and twists. And yes, there is steam to the eventual romance. I really liked Meera. She wants to do the right thing, only to get herself caught in the middle of trouble . She doesn't panic to much with the stress put upon her. Graham is such a protective monster. He wasn't looking for love but it found him anyway. I loved the well deserved HEA for them. I was given a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my review.
I love the Redrock Security bodyguards, and Graham is such a fantastic gargoyle bodyguard. When I read these books, I get so involved that it's like I can see these people in my mind. Graham is about to meet Meera, who desperately needs his large muscles. Meera is convinced her fiancé is cheating on her, and he was, so when she hides in his office spying on him, she didn't expect to be a witness to him committing murder. And this is how she finds herself in possession of a stolen dragon egg. This is the reason she must have a bodyguard. The chemistry that happens between Graham and Meera is so good. I love this book! This series, The Possessive Monsters, is still fantastic, and this is the 11th! Now I am waiting for number 12! Excellent spicy paranormal romance with the best happy ending.
Oh a bit of a thriller and action pact romance. Meera having a sneaky suspicion that her fiancé is cheating in her. And wanting to catch him in the act she witnesses something horrifying. If she steps out of her hiding spot who know what her fiance will do. So she flees with her so call belongings but fets his things and the one thing he wanted the most. But her personal belongings was left behind proving she saw something she shouldnt. Enter Gramham and his brother of garayole’s.
He will protect Meera and Omlet aka the egg until he can get them to safety. But there are others besides Meera soon to be ex fiance after them. This was a thrilling action pcr adventure with some sexy times sprinkled with a naughty tail. I forgot about the other brothers tale of finding their mates. This book got me out of my reading slump. Well rereading my past reads.
