Rate this book
HUNTED BY ZHUKOV’S RUSSIAN FORCE’S, SAS Bravo Seven and SEAL Team Six make a run for Sachkere airbase in Georgia. Low on ammo and supplies, surrounded by the enemy, they are forced to take the airbase from a superior force, before mounting an incursion operation back inside Russia to take out the regional Russian air defence system in order for the NATO forces to gain air superiority over Georgia.

As the mission unfolds, the political motivations behind the conflict shift beneath Zhukov, and the team find themselves stranded without support trying to get out of enemy territory.

I felt this book was a BIG letdown from the previous two in the series: Ghost of Winter PROLOGUE (Modern Warfare Series 1 SAS Black Ops Part 1) : Collectors Edition & Ghost of Winter INCEPTION (Modern Warfare Series 1 SAS Black Ops Part 2) : Collectors Edition. Those books were full of non-stop action and it was a special ops deluxe.

For well over 50% into Incursion not much happened at all. A lot of talking and behind the scenes wheeling and dealing. To believe Dutch and Anna would ever leave their troops. Yeah there was action in the 2nd half but still too much back-plot. I think the author lost focus. If this was the first "Ghost" book, then I would not have continued on. Whereas the Ghost of Winter prologue got me hooked and lead on perfectly to Inception. Could have done without this 3rd book. 3 stars is being generous, probably more like 2.5.
