While the first book in this series was a refreshingly tongue-in-cheek look at otaku culture from an outside perspective, this second book sometimes feels like it's running in circles, trying to repeat character beats and plot points from volume 1. Sometimes this works- the anguished declaration of the main character in defense of erotic video games is genuinely funny in its absurdity; however, most of the material here feels like a retread.

Doesn't make good use of the extra 100 pages it has over the first volume, and Kyousuke turns into a crumbling mess of unbelievability by the end—probably because he's not the intended focus this time, but that doesn't excuse him constantly acting as a convenient tool of the plot with the same increasingly stale rationalizations. Still, Kirino and Kuroneko are cute.
