I don’t know what happened but partially through the book it’s like the author and narrator both forgot what was happening. Talking like teenagers, detailed sex scenes (I’m no prude, just don’t see the point when it gives nothing to the story). I was waiting for the whole world to explode at the end

Did this on audio and saw some bad reviews beforehand but don’t agree with them at all. Interesting plot, loved the backstory, the characters were believable
The only thing I would say it’s not really a thriller more a mystery but I still enjoyed it.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book and since I find the world of fashion and modeling fascinating I thought I would enjoy whatever the story turned out to be. I was surprised by the depth of the mystery and backstory of the model and her assistant/best friend (the protagonist).

It gives some detail about the world of modeling, a lot of which is pretty much common knowledge. It also gives us a glimpse into the thoughts and feelings of models which we rarely to get to see.

The assistant/best friend is an interesting and complex character. Even though the story is told through her voice and we follow her thought process, I found it hard to actually get a handle on her as a flesh and blood person. The model is easy to imagine, but the assistant more difficult. Hints about her look and how she comes across are sprinkled throughout the book, but I still never developed an image of her. It was like I was in her head but never came across a mirror to show me the exterior.

There is an added complexity to the story in the form of the husband and how he is presented prior to the model going missing and then after the model is gone. It is almost like he is two different people and that may very well be because his character goes through a transformation that we only see the results of. Another little thing to wonder about, of which this book has several.

This wasn't a terrible book but it also wasn't the best. Marki's character could have been alot better. She was made out to be so loyal to Ewa but in reality she wasn't. She wanted to get out of her and Ewa's hometown and she saw that opportunity in Ewa being a model and she forced it. Ewa did what she was told pretty much. Ewa was a great character, however some of her own choices were not very well thought out unfortunately. I was still holding out so much hope until the very end for her, just hoping for a good outcome but sadly, there was not one. Carter's character is very predictable and sleazy so how everything unfolded for him and regarding him was of no surprise. I am happy for Marki in the end but I still hated how it ended for Ewa as she deserved so much better. She had no one when you really think about it.

Man I wish I had checked the other ratings and reviews before diving into this one. You call this a thriller? This book was just boring. And also there were far too many detailed descriptions of sex scenes, and I got tired of it fast. I'm not prude, I read a lot of smut, but I like some actual plot in my books, especially a thriller needs to maintain a certain level of tension and suspense and this book had none. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop or some twist to make the book interesting, but it never came. One of the most boring books I've ever read, and trust me I suffered through some boring books in my life.

I mean what did I expect for a free book?🤣 Supposedly a thriller but it was anything but. Just a long winded tale of the fashion industry in the 90s with some smut thrown in that was way too cringy that I just had to skip on. It was so predictable from the get go on what happened to Ava and honestly just finished this for the sake of it. The characters weren’t even interesting or ones I could engage with. Wouldn’t recommend
