Deep by James Nestor was a captivating and eye-opening read that aligned with my value for personal growth and discipline, while also pushing me to appreciate the world—and myself—on a deeper level. The book explores the limits of human potential through freediving and the mysteries of the ocean, but it’s really about much more: awareness, control, and the connection between body and mind. Nestor’s journey reminded me how powerful it is to master your environment by first mastering yourself—through breath, focus, and stillness. Even though the content stretched into unfamiliar territory, I found it grounded in a respect for nature, human potential, and intentional living—all of which resonate strongly with how I aim to lead my life.
Awesome book (can’t believe it doesn’t even have a cover photo on here). Perfectly served my interests in biology and human health, extreme sports, and marine mammals. It reads the way good nonfiction should - like a story, or rather a collection of them and unique characters with fascinating science throughout.
This was a great book! I listened to the Audible book in one day —it’s been a while since I’ve done that. Very interesting information on both free diving and creatures of the sea.
Great book about free driving and how the affects on your body. It covers skills once possessed by our ancestors that we have slowly lost and can regain.
